Well, you've read the notes, the notes were wet, and now it is time for you to post until the wet cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TRISKAIDEKAPHOBIA!
Smoke on your pipe and put that in.
-
Welcome six GUESTS!
-
BK question for the day: Who is the singer on the record demo on the Bonus track for the "Bananas"CD? Didn't Don Mclean sing it at some point?
-
Wednesday morning greetings! I'll be E & T most of today because I'm going to a fundraising program at the library where I used to work. It'll be different sitting on the other side of the table!
-
Ginny will be here soon!
-
I can't listen to Cry for Us All at work. My computer is on its last legs and playing music CDs is not one of the things it does well. I am waiting to hear about a swap out with another computer from our department that is no longer being used. I was told it could be done but that was almost a month ago.
-
The Gates Foundation is finished and I will move on to other work.
-
Ginny will be here soon!
Yup, a week from tomorrow!
-
No, not the singer. I had no idea until recently that there was a rock singer going by the name of Danger Mouse. Da noive a dat guy!
DangerMouse (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF5b2AENE4Q)
-
Arthur's Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zkX6kfnWbk)
Maybe this will bring Sandra back.
-
Babar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-WMpWsQD8k)
J'aime les histoires
-
Rocky and Bullwinkle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65t-OzhlmvE)
Just making up for no posts recently.
-
Mr. Peabody and Sherman (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YunO4Wc8E28)
Another favorite
-
Tom Terrific (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PgniqcgdFo)
I'm reliving my childhood here
-
Shari Lewis 1963 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEZePOZ41hQ)
And Fred Gwynne too!
-
And finally
Count Duckula (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-4Mt1bDXTg)
He was never as successful as DangerMouse. I went out on Duckula appearances for a while but it was clear that he was not going to take off the way DM did.

Good morning, all! The Act Two finale debate continues. We're going to go back to the original 1947 finale on Friday to see how that plays. I have no idea what will be the final outcome but I can live either way with the decision, although I like the new ending quite a lot since I scored it. That said, my ego has nothing to do with the case and I've always liked the original finale so either way is fine. As for the show last night, the audience was really into it, and Og's wish for Susan got a real audible gasp from the audience when they realized its implications with three wishes only. I thought, this is neat, they're really into it.
This morning, I will walk up to my doctor for a 9:45 appointment and have my shoulder checked out. On the way up, I shall do a bit of banking, and on the way back I shall do a bit of marketing. After that, it's THE MOST HAPPY FELLA while I wait for Fed Ex to show up and cart off these 14 cartons; originaly, I had 13 but I decided to empty another drawer and I'm sending a big bundle of bound music and vocal scores in the 14th carton.
Tonight, I'm staying in and watching TOP CHEF; I have last week's episode to catch up with as well. I'm listening to Liz Callaway's new album as I type this. I think it's time for a new Guy Haines one as well.
-
And the word of the day is: TRISKAIDEKAPHOBIA!
Smoke on your pipe and put that in.
And The Song Of The Day Is: SUPERSTITION
(And The WONDER of it all is it's just another L-O-N-G word.)
-
Hmmm...I came home last night and did not find CRY FOR US ALL in my mailbox. I'm wondering if I had it sent to my home address or to here in the office...
-
Good morning!
Rain, rain rain! Looks like that will be the watchword here for the next two days. Cool, too, but I don't have a problem with that.
-
I have been informed by those in the know that some studios have begun restricting review copies of their releases and that Fox might be one of them. Thus, I may not get those releases from last week at all, or any of their other releases for the rest of the year unless there is a change in policy.
This is going to give me a lot more free time which I will gladly accept.
-
I will go ahead and work on 'Z' today and get it out of the way. The movie itself is over two hours and there's a commentary, too, so that will take the afternoon. The evening will be devoted to the other bonus features.
-
Looking forward to GLEE tonight (and also recording MODERN FAMILY which I'll watch tomorrow). The USA TODAY critic said the musical numbers in tonight's GLEE are particularly wonderful, so I can't wait to see the show.
-
I've given up on GLEE. Not my cup of tea...
-
I watched an actual romantic COMEDY last night which i was not really expecting to like as much as i did. It was with Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher: WHEN IN VEGAS (i think that was the title).
It was actually very heavy on the comedy. Maybe a little over the top. But it was fun!
-
DR Elmore, I would like to also empty out some drawers and have FedEx take the stuff away. But I think they'd throw it all in the trash where it belongs.
-
I guess I'll head downstairs now to do some chores, watch some TV, and then get started on lunch.
WBBL.
-
Actually i think the movie title is WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS.
-
It's a chilly and brisk morning here. Dixie Bell and I only walked our yard, which is extensive enough for her; she didn't even go near the car which would have taken her to the cemetery to run. Still, we were outside for a half-hour. There must be some new animals prowling around at night 'cos Dixie was all about the sniffing. Fortunately, there were no chipmunks pelting us with hickory nuts this morning.
-
My blood suger levels and blood pressure are fine, but there is some stress in my left shoulder requiring some physical therapy. I'm also scheduled now for my flu shot: next Tuesday at 3:45. I discovered when I got back to the apartment that I am out of checks and I need to run over to the bank and order more.
After that, all I have to do the rest of the day is wait for Fed Ex and work on MOST HAPPY FELLA.
-
Shocked by the David Cassidy report - but perhaps he expected something else. I would be glad to talk to him, but I would hesitate to pay $20 or $25 or more for a photo he chose.
-
Does GLEE have "guest stars" tonight?
-
Quote o' the day department: I was joking with Gabe about his propensity for breaking things and told him I believed he woke up every morning with a list of my items he had to break. He retort: "Number one on my list is your morale, Dad." :)
-
Someone who meets David Cassidy should tell him there's a guy in Oakland who'll "remember him" for $30.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I think today might be a good day to hang around the apartment and get some stuff done. Or not.
-
Go, Gabe!
-
Does GLEE have "guest stars" tonight?
I don't believe there any "guest stars" on "Glee" tonight. However, there's talk that this episode should be Jane Lynch's Emmy submission. :)
-
Looking forward to GLEE tonight (and also recording MODERN FAMILY which I'll watch tomorrow). The USA TODAY critic said the musical numbers in tonight's GLEE are particularly wonderful, so I can't wait to see the show.
If you follow "Glee" on Twitter - @GleeOnFox - or are a Fan of the series on Facebook - you can get sneak-peeks of the musical numbers for each upcoming episode. They have also been releasing the full-song versions on iTunes on Wednesday mornings.
*I also came across one blog where someone has been posting audios from the set. It's interesting - in a very good way - to hear the Gleeks sing along with the pre-records.
-
BK question for the day: Who is the singer on the record demo on the Bonus track for the "Bananas"CD? Didn't Don Mclean sing it at some point?
I can't remember the name - it's in the booklet. It's certainly not Don.
-
Dan the Man - you had it sent to your home address, which was, I think, the first time you've ever done so.
-
I'm up and must get ready for the long casting session - I'll leave in about thirty-five minutes. Rain seems to have stopped for the time being.
-
I see happy foliage outside - foliage has been very thirsty.
-
Shiny happy foliage..
-Nah, nevermind. Doesn't have the same ring to it.
-
Quote o' the day department: I was joking with Gabe about his propensity for breaking things and told him I believed he woke up every morning with a list of my items he had to break. He retort: "Number one on my list is your morale, Dad." :)
You need to find out who's writing for him.
-
Dan the Man - you had it sent to your home address, which was, I think, the first time you've ever done so.
No, I did it at least once before with either ANYA or ILLYA DARLING. Hopefully, I will have it in my hot little hands today.
-
Now I have a sudden urge to listen to ILLYA DARLING.
So I guess I will.
-
The wonderful singer Al Martino passed away yesterday at age 82 :'(
(http://www.claycoleshow.com/Al_Martino.jpg)
-
Sad for the Martino fans.
DR MBARNUM that Karloff/Lugosi set is about $19 now on Amazon.....but the other movies aren't much, maybe someone will sell F 1970 on its own.
-
Anyone know if DR DAW somehow ran afoul of "Thongs for Toddlers" manufacturers?
-
Ah me....

Ah you...

Ah them....

Anyone know if DR DAW somehow ran afoul of "Thongs for Toddlers" manufacturers?
I think he's still in Minnesota with husband Jayson and little internet access.
-
Well tomorrow is opening night for BBB - but the general consensus is that it will play out its subscription and not run.....if any DR in NYC is down by Henry Miller's Theater in the next couple of weeks and sees a Playbill stomped into the ground, please pick it up for me - for my display case in August. Thanks. Handbills also appreciated.

How can a show get all the way to a Broadway theater in such condition as to be a failure? I know it happens a lot. Is it just that they have lots of money to book the theater?

I thought he'd posted on Monday that they were returning last night.

On another discussion group in which I participate, I encountered the following statement:
I see you just responded to my one statement ignoring what went before. Very unique approach. I may try that for some of these longer chains within threads. Sort of like playing roulette, hoping you caught the right meaning while ignoring context.
The response to it was that no context had been ignored, including the demeaning context of this statement. The originator protested it was not demeaning but a statement indicating his confusion over what the respondent had said in his previous post. (The originator was confused because he wasn't considering the respondent's comments were not directed solely at his input but also to another's).
I ask you, Dear Readers of the HainesHisWay.com family, was it a snarky, supercilious statement...or not?
-
So far I have been just battling a borderline sinus infection and I hope that is all I get. My student workers are dropping like flies.
There is still road construction going on and a gaping hole in the street near the coffee shop where I sit writing this. Needless to say if they get the street buttoned up by November 1, I will be surprised. The project is nearly 3 months behind. Since I still do not have internet access I am using DH's laptop. I will say, they are are a challenge to type on.
NDSU's president has managed to himself in a real pickle. In the last year these are his expenditures that used state, university and foundation monies.
Trip to dc for inaugaration... 22,000
house 2.2 mill and all bills relating to the house are not in. This includes two outhouses, and 476K for landscaping. I could understand some of the costs but they severely underbudgeted.
office renovation: 250K
His wife' s salary: 50K....
Needless to say there are a lot of angry people. I can understand costs overrunning and budgets changing within reason but not telling people initially that is what you wanted to build is not a good thing. The state originally allocated 900K to both NDSU and UND to build new homes for the college president. UND went tp 1.3 mill and NDSU is over 2.2 mill.
UND ran into issues they did nto foresee such as finding human bones which had to be removed respectfully and studied. They also ran into old steam lines that had to be removed.
NDSU was allocated 20mll to retrofit a building that donated downtown for the business college and that overran by 3 mil. I can understand that one also. It had some issues including extensive asbestos abatement, soil contamination clean up from a long forgotten garage and buried containers. I can understand that one.
It will be interesting if the VP of Budgets and the Foundation chair still have jobs. someone had to sign the workorders on the house
-
Why does the president of NDSU need two outhouses for a house that cost $2.2 million? In fact, why would he need one outhouse? Is it because he needs them at strategic locations on all the property that he spent $476 thousand landscaping?
-
I would say it is snarky but also a way to incite discension in that particular goup... JMO
-

His explanation is if you are entertaining outdoors people need a place to go... However I never thought of in the context you are saying
Then again, nothing would surprise me...
-
The sad thing about the mess is that they told the departments to tighten budget and that has left many departments including the library severely underbudgeted
-
DR dakotacelt, Mr Coffee arrived today! Thank you so much, dear. When my door rang about two hours ago, I thought it was Fed Ex coming for the cartons and it was a USPS man with your package.
Fed Ex just arrived and carted off the cartons. I can nap with no worries now.
-
I am glad to hear that... It was the perfect box to fit everything in....
-
Back from a program hosted by the amazing woman who replaced me at the library. She is doing a fantastic job, for which I am very grateful.
I stopped at the grocery store on the way home and will soon make a meat loaf for tonight's dinner. My family is delighted.
-
They also do not want guests traipsing dirt into the house or use the bushes
-
Hello, everyone.
Light rain here in my 'hood, but I'm pleased to see that some areas are getting more. It seems that DR Ron has gotten too much! Sorry, Ron.
-
I just learned that the nurse who was such a nightmare last Friday is the one who'll be attending me on my biopsy. OMG! The procedure doesn't scare me, but SHE does! It's a fairly large organization, but it seems that she is the only nurse. Lots of staff, but apparently they are not nurses. I had a voice mail from her this morning that was polite on the surface, but snarky underneath. She strikes me as not very knowledgeable--and argumentative, as well. Oy!
-
Ginny, I'm glad your replacement is doing such a good job. I bet it takes a load off your mind--no desire to return. Or maybe that was never an issue.
-
Much to do.
TTFN.
-
I send many thoughts of support Jeanne...
-
Ginny, I'm glad your replacement is doing such a good job. I bet it takes a load off your mind--no desire to return. Or maybe that was never an issue.
DR Jeanne, I have no regrets about retiring from that position when I did, but knowing the job I loved (it was the environment I hated) is in good hands sure helps me sleep at night.
Many vibes to you as you deal with both your procedure and the snarky nurse.
-
Many vibes for all good things for Jeanne!

The saga at ndsu just took a new turn
Chapman, the president of NDSU, has resigned.....
-
The wonderful singer Al Martino passed away yesterday at age 82 :'(
(http://www.claycoleshow.com/Al_Martino.jpg)
He also made a memorable appearance as Johnny Fontane/Frank Sinatra in THE GODFATHER.

After I reviewed the third season box set of PERRY MASON and enjoyed it so much, I went ahead and ordered Season 1, Volume 1 for my own pleasure. It's been buried under tons of other DVDs for months and months, but today I finally saw it there and took it out and watched the first episode on disc 1. I suppose this was the pilot episode. At any rate, it was a fine time watching this episode, and I look forward to the entire set, watching one or two whenever I get some time to kill.
-
Sending thoughts and vibes to DR JEANNE.
-
Vibes for DR Jeanne. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
While I ate lunch, I watched last night's NCIS: LA. Boy, this is NCIS in name only. The case was OK and there was decent action, but the two "junior agents" (the girl and the young black guy) are personality-zero. Better are Barrett Foa (the only reason I'm continuing with the show) and the psychologist who I think will eventually develop into an interesting character.
-
While I cooked lunch, I had last week's episode of OLD CHRISTINE from HD On Demand playing. It was pretty funny. I wish CBS would move it back to Monday night at 8:30 in Jenna Elfman's slot and let that show die.
-
Then I watched 'Z' for my work project today. The film still zips along and works as both a period piece (brought back all the student unrest in our country in the late 60s) and a timely reminder about despotic regiemes. Really enjoyed seeing it again. Picture is so-so, and the sound has some buzzing problems.
-
Then I zipped through today's soap operas. The boys weren't on ATWT at all (though that tiresome love quadrangle continues). Fish was barely on OLTL today, so not much interest there either.
-
Page FOur Dance!!!
-
It will be interesting to keep following that story as it unfolds, DakotaCelt. That is amazing.
-
The saga at ndsu just took a new turn
Chapman, the president of NDSU, has resigned.....
Oh, my, DR DakotaCelt, what a mess!
-
Well, the last chrysalis turned out to be a queen butterfly instead of a monarch. But I got a nice photo.
-
That is a nice photo!
-
Now, I must hop off-line and get some writing done.
Then, I'll head back down to watch the bonus featurettes on 'Z.'
WBBL.
-
Lovely photo DR LAURA.
I am amazed and disturbed by DR DAKOTA CELT'S story.
-
The sad part is that Chapman has done phenomenal things for the campus... I still think there is more to the story than is being expressed...
http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/256289/
There are a few story links also in a box you can explore
-
The Chancellor of the State higher Board of Education has not responded yet.
All I have to say is that the Foundation has a lot of explaining to do. I find it rather ironic that Chapman resigned several days before the SBHE was to meet here.
-
Chapman's accomplishments include Increasing the visibility of NDSU, student enrollment, faculty recruitment, donations, programs and much, much more...
Sad in many ways...
-
Lovely photo Laura

Here is an article on the DC trip

He also made a memorable appearance as Johnny Fontane/Frank Sinatra in THE GODFATHER.
Yes, and I have it on good authority he was majorly miffed when somehow Andy Williams got out in front with "Speak Softly, Love." Martino evidently thought he had been promised exclusive rights to record it.
-
The slush fund is what bothers me. I can live with some of the over spending on the house.
-
The foundation needs to be held for its actions also for giving the execs the perks and not fulfilling their educational funding mission.
-
I am so glad I am staying in tonight; I am exhausted. I doubt I'll survive for the new TOP CHEF episode, but I will record it and watch it tomorrow after I get back from the McGlinnventory.
-
WET? That's it? It sounds like one of elmore's Art Films.

The Gates Foundation is finished and I will move on to other work.
Maybe you should have asked The Gates Foundation for a new computer.

Forgive me, Jeanne, but you are the patient and therefore you should have the final say on all areas of the procedures they are doing for you. If you are uncomfortable with that nurse, I would call the office and demand that they have someone else in her place.

That wasn't buzzing, Matt H., that was Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs.

That is two days in a row that I have brought the posting to a screeching halt. Hmmm, I could go away if it would help?
-
WET? That's it? It sounds like one of elmore's Art Films.
More like an accoutrement....

It is wet here... It is a rain snow mix... I am not liking the idea of snow...
It has been unusually cold here. We are running 20 degrees below average.

I've been in the other room, putting the finishing touches on our meatloaf dinner (with mashed potatoes & gravy and mixed vegetables) and eating it with my family. Richard's off now to a choir rehearsal for a funeral tomorrow.
-
At this moment... I am monitoring the ongoing Soap Opera at NDSU....
I have a funny feeling there is more to this story than meets the eye
-
WET? That's it? It sounds like one of elmore's Art Films.
It's also the name of a play by Margaret Edson. Often done in regional theatre.

CRY FOR US ALL was indeed waitin' for me when I got home tonight.
Yay!

GLEE is on tonight.

So is COUGAR TOWN, my favorite new show of the season.

Another beautiful pic from DR Laura.

I doubt that very much derBrucer. People have started making their voice known in regard to their medical options. If the doctor tells you that you are free to seek treatment elsewhere, then you are probably well rid of that doctor.

Pro wrestler and wrestling manager Lou Albano has died. For non-wrestling fans, he was best known as Cyndi Lauper's father in the music video, GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN.

Wow, I just got an e-mail offer for $55.00 preview tickets to some iffy new musical entitled FINIAN'S RAINBOW. Just my luck, I would have to go to New York to see it.

Good Evening!
Well... That was another nice nap. Hmmm...
However, I was feeling a bit sinus-y and achey before I took my nap, but now I'm feeling non-sinus-y and non-achey.
-
I also spent a good chunk of time listening to today's afternoon lineup on WNYC (NPR). Ruth Reichl was on "Fresh Air", and then continued listening - in between naps - to "All Things Considered". Some good stories today.

I also heard Ruth Reichl while driving from Dayton - her spaghetti carbonara sounds good, and easy!

DR Dakota Celt - Hopefully, the turmoil taking place on your campus won't "seep" into your library. -Although, I guess if the "leak patrol" has been activated, well... ;)

Jose, did I already ask you if you had ever met, or played for, Tommy Berklund?
-
Thank you all again for your support. I called the radiology lab this morning because I wasn't clear about which medications I'm allowed to take prior to the procedure. I learned then that Awful Ava is the only nurse on their staff!! That alone boggles my mind. So I can't really request another nurse. I would LOVE to see health care become more patient-centric and really look after the needs of the patients, but I think we have a long way to go. I will be bringing my friend Anna with me, who will not hesitate to speak up on my behalf.
-
I want both ice cream's from yesterday.

Jose, did I already ask you if you had ever met, or played for, Tommy Berklund?
Tom - I don't believe you have. However, I have met him and played for him. -He was one of the replacements in the revival of A Chorus Line, and I know we've crossed paths in the audition room too. *I also think he was a roommate of former DR Jason for a couple of months.
*He was also one of the poster boys for this year's Broadway Bares (http://images.broadwayworld.com/columnpic2/tn-500_bbare2.jpg).

Oh yes, I knew he was a poster boy for Broadway Bares. I am sure we must be distant cousins, even if he doesn't know how to correctly spell our last name.
-
NPR- I don't listen to that left wing pinko commie stuff.

He isn't listed at IBDB for CHORUS LINE or any other show (like ZOBRA).

Lots of vibes for Jeanne.

Back from the long casting session for the long musical and I'm quite exhausted and had sixty-five e-mails to answer. Shortly I shall eat a sandwich from Subway.

Time to have dinner, then off to Hollywood Heritage.
Night all.
Happy Thursday.

Vibes and prayers for DR Jeanne!

It's interesting, the only replacement listed for A Chorus Line - after the the first initial big cast changeover - is Mario Lopez. :-\
*I wonder if Baayork Lee knows that her other "babies" are not listed on the IBDB. Hmmm...

I got Brent's MD's notes this morning and, as I knew they would, they really annoyed the HELL out of me. Such pointless notes - the man is listening to these mixes on his computer speakers and talking to me about the piano EQ. Not. And he has a huge number of nitpicky notes on almost every song, and I am not doing most of them - I'll go looking for the handful of things Brent would like fixed, and I'll do a couple of the MD's things that make sense to me, but that is IT. If I were to address all his notes I would have a full eight hour day tomorrow and that will not be happening.
-
I liked the Girls Just Want to Have Fun video. I'm sorry to hear Lou passed away.
-
Have a good evening everyone. ;D
-
What experience does said MD have? Has he listened to a lot of CD's?
-
Sixty five emails?

My question for ASK BK day.....what is the BEST dance performance you have ever seen?
-
Solo and or group.
-
G'night!
-
Goodnight, DR TCB.
-
DR Elmore, I would like to also empty out some drawers and have FedEx take the stuff away. But I think they'd throw it all in the trash where it belongs.
Just address the package to yourself at the church, and you'll never receive it!!! :D
-
Anyone know if DR DAW somehow ran afoul of "Thongs for Toddlers" manufacturers?
I think he's still in Minnesota with husband Jayson and little internet access.
They are such a nice family: DAW, Jayson, and Little Internet Access.
Oh dear, DRLaura-- the week and Zibah's flyer certainly took their toll on you! LOL!
-
As much as I enjoy the Oct 15 tax season, it's a relief when it comes to a close.
-
I heard the Ruth Reichl interview today also, and loved it.
-
Hi, everyone! Back from a lovely little trip to Minnesota. Where they had snow.
-
Flights were smooth, though in both cases our departures were severely delayed by young mothers with multiple little children who spoke little to no English and didn't seem to be able to abide by airline regulations.

Speaking of A Chorus Line...
My DVD copy of the documentary Every Little Step has arrived! :)

My question for ASK BK day.....what is the BEST dance performance you have ever seen?
The Prologue from West Side Story is in the top five. Gene Castle in Popularity from George M. Donna McKechnie's big three - Turkey Lurkey Time, Tick Tock, and Music and the Mirror. Whoever did that incredible end of act one dance in Pacific Overtures. The dance team's number in Grand Hotel - spectacular.
-
Had my sandwich.
-
At long last page seven.
-
Brent will be calling to go over all these notes, to narrow them down to only the really important things. But I've warned him and his MD - once I make whatever changes, that's it.

I believe Pat Birch from Grease did the choreography for The Lion Dance.
From Grand Hotel I always like We'll Take A Glass Together.

For those that might be interested my review of BK's latest tome is up at Amazon

Yes, read Shayne's lovely review - I posted about it the other day.
-
I spent the first part of the evening watching the bonus featurettes on the Z disc. A nice mix of current interviews and vintage ones. (Costa-Gavras was an extremely handsome man when he made the film. Wow! I had no idea!)
Nothing lasted very long, however, so I was finished with those features in about an hour.
-
I went to my to-watch bookcase (expanded from the to-watch shelf) and selected ALL THE KING'S MEN. This was the original DVD release of the 1949 Best Picture winner, so there was almost no clean-up for the video, and much of the image quality was spotty. I suspect more recent releases gave it a little more attention.
Still, for a movie I've waited this long to see on DVD at all, it was good enough.
-
When I finished it, I had some time before GLEE was set to be watched, so I took GYPSY (1962) off the shelf and watched four numbers: "You'll Never Get Away From Me" (both the theatrical cut and the outtake), "All I Need Is the Girl," "Let Me Entertain You/Striptease version," and "Rose's Turn."
As one of my all-time favorite movie musicals, it just made me want to start the movie from the beginning and watch the whole thing.
-
I enjoyed GLEE's numbers, especially the last one, but I just HATE that we've got to go through all these baby machinations with WIll and his wife all season-long. It just KILLS me to see what she's doing to him.
-
Finishing up a few items on the computer and then heading downstairs to bed.
Good night!
-
DR JOSE's friend Mario Lopez is on NIP/TUCK
Ummm... Anyone who closes a show is no friend of mine.
;)

DR JOSE's friend Mario Lopez is on NIP/TUCK
Is he playing the same character he did previously?

Sorry I've been E and T. Work has been very busy - good thing with all the changes coming up. And tonight I went to The Wedding Singer. It was fun to see the 80s jokes, since the 80s were my college days.
But I have a real pet peeve...the way they do the sound these days. Our theater has great acoustics, but with the mics and the way they mix the sound it's always muffled and hard to hear clearly. It really takes away from enjoying the show. It's the same with all the shows I've seen lately, so I guess I just have to adjust, but I really hate it
-
Finished with my viewing tonight. Haven't heard from Brent, and if I don't, I'll just do whatever fixes I deem necessary. The mixes, which both he and his MD think are wonderful, are suddenly being nitpicked to death and the problem is that when you start futzing with stuff that is correct and magical then they become less with every futz. And I will not jeopardize the magic, even if it irks them. I've been through too many albums where this nitpicking happens and other than an occasional swapping of something volume-wise or line-wise, it always, always ends up making the track less magical the more you try to make everyone happy.
-
The other thing is they had a live orchestra, but with the sound mixed, it sounded like it was a recording. I hate that too
-
DR Cillaliz - It's because most sound guys mix from the back of the house - not from where the audience is actually sitting. And once a show goes into "long run mode", well... :-\
-
well, orchestra is stretching it a bit, but there were live musicians - it's just with the way the sound is done, i wouldn't have known it if I hadn't seen them
-

I know, I'd just like to go and be able to hear clear sound for once and be able to enjoy the singers and the music. Like it was in the olden days, lol
-
My complaint about the tour shows at Gammage is that I can't understand most of the lyrics. However, at the very small Phoenix Theater, I can understand every word.
-
That's exactly what I'm talking about, only lere it's the Orpheum where I can't understand.
-
Well, better get some sleep. Tomorrow will be another busy day

I love steamed sole in ginger at Genghis Cohen. Me want some NOW! Perhaps I'll mosey over there after my mixing session tomorrow.
