Well, you've read the notes, the notes had hail, hale, and churros, which is also the name of my accountants, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently saying three Hail Elsies.

And the word of the day is: INTEGUMENT!
-
Topic of the Day:
In my DVR: I need to empty out my DVR (I only have about 48 minutes left!) and am going to burn a DVD or two of musical theater numbers from talk shows. I don't know if it'll fill up two discs, but it's certainly a start. I do have more than one full disc of these such musical theater numbers, so we'll see after that.
In my DVD player (from Netflix): All Over the Guy
In my CD player at work: Love With A Proper Stranger & A Girl Named Tamiko...still :)
That's about it.

Good morning, all! It's a nice chilly morning in Manhattan, and I love it. Of course, by February I'll be cursing the cold and beggng for a heat wave, but this all seems very Christmas-y to me. For now.
DR vixmom, I'm stopping by the show on Sunday and I will inquire at the concession stand about a program. I'm sure there's one in the works, if it isn't already out. The man who runs the stand is very nice and I like to talk to him. If I don't see him on Sunday, I will definitely do so on Wednesday, when I see Joshie conduct the show.
DRedisaurus, I want to see you! I would love to meet you after the show tonight, but I will be nodding by then. I'm busting my butt at the moment to drag in enough income to cover health insurance (due now) and estimated taxes (Jan 15). Can I meet you tomorrow morning on the Upper West Side for a smackerel before I head over to the NYPL?
DR MattH, I know the 1933 ALICE isn't my favorite adaptation of Lewis Carroll - give me the insanity of Disney! - but I've always had a fondness for the movie; well, it's got Edna Mae Olver and that should make anyone happy. DR Mikey was kind enough to burn me a DVD a few years ago but it's nice to know a commercial one is being released.
BK, your notes made me laugh this morning!

And now off to work. Oh well.

Happy Day to Penny!!!!!!!!!
-
I wonder if DR MattH has snow this morning. Local TV weather shows Charlotte area being in a snow belt...but the word is this "belt area" could see either flurries or get up to a foot of snow.
That belt, of course, extends upward into New York...and just what kind of holiday cheer would a foot of snow inspire on Long Island, I wonder.

Happiest of Birthdays to the Amazing Penny!!!

I definitely like the first MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. The third is wild and wooly and enjoyable. The second is a blithering mess.
But I said shortly after buying the three film set on Blu-ray that the first film's transfer was good but not great. Certainly not as impressive as many other action films of the same period.

Work and life vibes for DR Vixmom. ~~~~~~~~~~~

It's early yet, but so far no UPS, so it looks like a day off (and the weekend off). I've been toying with doing 8 1/2 spread over several days. Watch the movie on Blu-ray and write it up on one day. Rewatch and listen to the audio commentary on a second day. Give a third day over to the bonus features. It would make it a less herculean task to do it in this manner. I'm still thinking about it. If I do decide to do it that way, I'll likely start on Sunday.
-
Break a leg wishes for the Vixter's audtion!

Happy Birthday to DR PennyO!

Happy Birthday to DR Dan the man!

Fans of Fox's THE DOLLHOUSE have new material to watch tonight. The rest of us are in rerun city.

I feel bad for my niece. it is her Christmas party today. But she can't go. There has been a stomach flu going around the daycare. Every kid who was at a birthday party last sunday has gotten it.
She was throwing up all night.
Although luckily my sister's friend went to the daycare and picked up my niece's present from santa (that my sister had given to the daycare). So she got a purple mermaid barbie to play with in the bath. So she is pretty happy. just unfortunate that she had to be sick on the one day they were having the party. :(
-
rerun city
It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.
-
I'm curious what are "parking lights?"
On the cars here we have a low set of lights that stay on all the time. And then we have the lights we put on at night, and our extra bright lights.
Luckily the car beeps when the night lights are on and you try to get out of the car/turn off the car.
-
Apropos of nothing reported here, but on a Messageboard frequented by BK and me on the subject of "film music":
Today, more than ever, I have concluded there is much truth to the phrase "too stupid to live."
Honestly.
And "morons" exist, literally, as well.
Hard to believe they actually can type.
-
I MUST get the rest of Christmas presents wrapped, and now seems like a good time to do it before I start cleaning up to go out on my usual Friday errands.

Nice and chilly out. Luckily, Staples was nearly empty and I was in and out with my purchases in around 15 mnutes. On my way back up Broadway I ran into Mr Ron Raines, looking hale and hearty. He's the same age as my brother Tom, and, though I've only known him for around 25 years now, has become more of a brother than Tom has ever been. He says Charlotte just arrived and their Big Christmas Brunch is on. I must call her immediately.

Okay, I'm off to NYPL. I'm later than I wished but I got sidetracked by Dominick Dunne. So, I'll grab my yello pad and head out.

Hello, Hello.

During ALA in Chicago this past summer, I won a $10 gift certificate from Demco, a library supplier. FedEx just brought us an assortment pack of Crystal Clear Plastic Book Jacket Covers (http://www.demco.com/goto?blk63&C3BZZZZ). Some snowy day after the holidays we'll have a book-covering party at our dining room table.
Are we geeks or what?

Love the Sherlock pic!!!
Yes, we are having snow predicted for us tomorrow as well.....time will tell. We were very busy store wise this morning, but now we are enjoying our early afternoon lull.
-
$20 to see AVATAR in 3D? Not me, but I welcome all comments from them that do.
Yes DR MBARNUM the tin soldier was quite handsome, but why was he choreographed to walk and swing his arms in unison, people usually march and walk opposite leg and arm....even tin soldiers....except for this guy who suddenly out of the blue declared his love for the singing doll.
It was the Jack In the Box that disturbed me most.
-
Back from the long jog - I only thought I was going to do two miles but it was really pretty and warm out so I went the distance.
-
Ohmigod! The late Dominick Dunne has been outed by one of his five children as a bisexual. Whodathunk it?
I thought he was already out. SHows what *I* know.
-
AVATAR is a Fox film, so if it comes out on Blu-ray, I'll be reviewing it. That's good enough for me.
-
It has rained most of the afternoon. Thankfully, I was able to get into and out of the grocery store before the rain started. Unlike the last three weeks, the store was jammed packed, but the self-check lanes were not being used, so I got right out once I was finished shopping.
No snow, but we did have some sleet earlier today. It is VERY cold out.
-
I watched two episodes of THE MENTALIST. The one from the first season set was the episode where Patrick came into conflict with a professional psychic. The mystery was a good one, but the encounters with the psychic were left with dangling plot points and were unsatisfying (unless they plan to bring her back as a recurring nemesis for Patrick).
-
Last night's new episode on CBS had some really interesting Patrick backstory as a young scam artist in training with his father. Very interesting and ultimately very sad. The mystery was very good, too. The twist has been used before on other shows, but I was still taken by surprise once the murderer was revealed.
-
Next I watched THE HOLLYWOOD REVUE OF 1929. This Warner Archive release is the best I've ever seen the movie look. Of course, it's 80 years old, and they didn't do anything to clean it up picture or sound-wise. Still, all of the Technicolor sequences are intact, and it's a bit sharper than the homemade DVD I made from TCM, so it went into the garbage.
-
Next I skimmed through OLTL and ATWT. Nothing of interest on either one of them.
-
I ended my afternoon watching the BIOGRAPHY episode on George Reeves which was rerun this afternoon. Good show with lots of interviews. I still can't believe Jack Larson is firmly convinced that George committed suicide. I'd say with the evidence uncovered that this is the least likely scenario.
-
No new review discs came in the mail today, so looks like my day off will continue right on into tomorrow.
I did get THE HANGOVER and INGLORIOUS BASTERDS, both on Blu-ray, today, so I may watch one of them tonight since there is nothing on TV to hold my interest.
-
Back from many errands and whatnot - my Christmas cards will be ready in about an hour, so that's good.
-
Wow, just got a call and the cards are ready now - twenty minutes later. Had I known that I would have just hung out at Bookstar - the parking and traffic is outrageous down there right now, so I'm walkin'.
-
Just a note to those who occasionally shop at the wbshop for the Warner Archive releases. They're running a buy 5 for $55 special right now on 410 titles. That also includes free 2 day air shipping.
The sale, however, ends tomorrow.
-
I'm going to tinker with the computer a little bit and then head downstairs to watch another MENTALIST episode (which will finish disc 2) and then play, most likely, INGLORIOUS BASTERDS. I suspect that's going to be one of the Best Picture Oscar nominees this year (since they have 10 slots to fill).
WBBL.
-
Ten slots is ridiculous and takes all meaning out of the Best Picture category.
-
Picked up my cards and now must read the new first five scenes of the long musical.

I ordered it from Amazon November 29th, and it arrived a few days ago.
-
Oy! I am up to my neck in Christmas gifts and the place is a mess. I hope I can find the Christmas cards I bought after Christmas last year.
-
All I will say is that AVATAR was the most satisfying movie going experience I've had in years. Thrilling and visually enthralling along with several strong emotional hooks that had me choked up at several points. My friend and I opted for the regular two-dimensional version because I didn't want to try the Imax 3-D version until I heard more about it. Still, as I said, simply incredible.
-
After the movie and a very nice lunch, I headed out on my shopping. My first destination was the Cherry Hill Mall, where I haven't set foot in since it had undergone a massive renovation. I have to say that I don't care for what they've done with it--it's now very modernized, very spacious, very cold and very upscale. It now reminds me of those shopping areas in the Atlantic City casinos that sell $200 sweatshirts. Feh!
-
Wow! Thanks for that movie report, DR DtM. Perhaps now ALL the residents of Christmasvillagetown will flock to see it, too!

I think I'm going to watch the Walton clan wait and worry for their daddy to get home.
-
My "light" afternoon has been anything but. I picked up Xmas cards and addressed and stamped a bunch of those, then had to pack up some orders, then spent an hour on the phone re the long musicals, giving my suggestions for the completely revamped first five scenes of act one - it really is much better now.
-
No one got The Children's Hour? Seems a little odd to me.

Hope all you East coasters enjoy a good snow storm. Too bad it's happening at a travel time of the year, but if you can stay home, it can be very relaxing

tomorrow I'm going to the office, but I'm going to sort and clean out things I don't need anymore so I don't need to move them. I may pack up some of the books I don't use much and start stacking them in the conference room so they are ready to move when we can move them
-
Shortly I will be on my way to Barone's for some fine Eyetalian food.
-
I loved the Sherlock photo too!
Me, three! :D
-
Hmm, you will just have to take my word on it.
Take my word. Please.
Aren't you up past your bedtime, DUH?
-
No CHILDREN'S HOUR or INGLORIOUS BASTERDS here today....maybe tomorrow ... in the snow.
-
We have had an interesting day. Rob and I met my mom and niece at Gram's home-to-be this afternoon and took a lot of measurements. Then we went to my mom's and loaded the freezer in the back of my Vibe and packed up some other stuff from inside (glassware for me, 2 pairs of my dad's binoculars for Rob). When we got home, Richard and Rob unloaded the freezer and it's now residing in the breakfast room - not sure that's where it will stay, but fine for now. Mom and Laura came for lasagna dinner and then we all piled into Laura's SUV and Richard drove us around town to look at Christmas lights. Mom and Laura just left and we're in for the night.
-
Sounds like a nice day, Ginny. I haven't driven around and looked at lights yet. Maybe this weekend
-
i don't think ashland has any neighborhoods worth driving through at this time of year. too bad, it is something i would enjoy. i haven't even had a chance to see the downtown & Plaza area all lit up.
-
I think that the Warner Bros. Archive site is probably one of the most unattractive websites online. No matter how good a deal they are offering, or how much I want the movie; when I get to the their site everything looks totally unappealing.
-
Did anyone see the broadcast of the Met's new
abortion production of TOSCA this week. I think the Met's being run by an idiot. Bring back Rudolf Bing.
-
It's remained very cold here, and the rain has not stopped though it hasn't been heavy, just constant.
-

That is very odd. As I mentioned yesterday, I didn't preorder INGLORIOUS BASTERDS. Just decided on Tuesday I wanted it after reading quite a few stellar reviews and seeing the award attention it has garnered. It came today, and I didn't even get a shipping notice. It just arrived out of nowhere! Maybe I got your copy, DR JRand.
-
And speaking of INGLORIOUS BASTERDS, that's what I watched tonight on Blu-ray. Terrifically entertaining, lots of humor and surprises, and some amazing performances. I can see why Christophe Waltz is the odds-on favorite to win Best Supporting Actor. He speaks four languages in the film brilliantly, all with such aplomb and his mixture of the urbane and the bloodthirsty is just mesmerizing.
-
I also had time to watch one full episode of THE MENTALIST and half of another episode. The full one had to do with a father-son police team where the son stumbles on two dead bodies. It's a pretty complex story, and had a thrilling denouement.
-
The half episode has to do with a former National Guardsman who was burned alive in his barn. Other men in his same unit are also seemingly being hunted. I remembered who the killer was as soon as the credits for the guest stars appeared, but I'll finish this tomorrow and look forward to Patrick's revelation of the killer.
-
now the day is almost gone i'm pleased to say it has been much better than yesterda. yesterday was extremely tough. as penny, who called last night, reminded me...."2 steps forward, 1 step back". the good news, while i felt i took a step back it was only limited to my pain levels. at PT today i did have a 5% increase in mobility from my tuesday visit.
-
oh, and today i managed to wait 5, instead of 3, hours between my pain meds :)
'night

I hope this link works. This is Tyrick Jones' video diary about FINIAN'S RAINBOW and auditions and other matters:

SHERLOCK IS ABSOLUTELY A BEAUTIFUL DOG-SNOW AND ALL!
-
Great news Jane. Slow and steady in the rehab is good and very glad to hear you can go longer between pain pills
-
I just recorded 4 episodes of SEA HUNT onto DVD-r.
One episode had a very hunky Edson Stroll and another episode had Wayne Mallory (Guy Madison's very cute brother). Both actors were very shirtless, which is one of the nice things about this series. Everyone is in bathing suits!
-

It's not been on in this area, yet. I did set my DVR to record it when it does come on in a few days.
-
I'm going to finish up a couple of things here and then head downstairs to bed. I stayed up too late last night reading, and since I'll be walking tomorrow (either outside or treadmill), I want to get enough sleep before I head out to do it.
Good night!
-
I recieved my Kritzerland surprise today! How neat. I shall wear it with pride!

I've never seen this show...I guess I should check it out.
:D

But now, I'm heading home.
Until later!

Now to watch my evening Bollywood movie...SINGH IS KING (2008) comedy starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Om Puri, and Kiron Kher. It was one of the top films of that year, so I hope to enjoy it.

does anyone use cable phone? Do you like or hate it? I'm considering it, but not sure. It's a lot cheaper and I do have a cell phone if the cable goes out
-
I just returned from a performance of The Messiah, where they sang only the choral parts.
-
Did you enjoy it?
-
Yes. I missed some of the solos, though.
-
I'm glad to hear you didn't bring any work home tonight. I hope you'll be able to enjoy some Christmasy thing this weekend, Cillaliz.
-
Oh, I'm enjoying all of it. Maybe it isn't Christmasy in the traditional sense, but getting very busy at work has taken off a lot of the stress of the expense of the move and I am really getting obnoxiously excited about the new office. So, being there and getting ready for the move is a joy to me.
I've already shipped all the gifts and cards that need to go to family members who won't be here (no little ones this year). I've almost completed my shopping and should be able to get that done in two stops tomorrow morning. I'm going to a Christmas party - well a solstice party- on Monday night and may go to a cookie exchange on Sunday (will have to bake if I do that). I'm spending the holiday with my family....so,
I'm still doing the holiday thing, but my mind has been on designing, planning, supervising the changes and now thinking about arranging furniture and getting the office in shape. The latest was meeting with a sign designer to design a logo for me. I really have something in mind and hope I explained it well enough for him to get it. He seemed to. I'm not sure when I'll get the design, but they are the best in town, so I'm sure it will be good!
-
Back from a faboo dinner at Barone's. I had their amazingly amazing shrimp scampi, which is the best anywhere. Also a dinner salad and a couple pieces of bread.
-
And now I am home.
-
I will be announcing our two new titles tonight at midnight - but if now is anything to go by, no one will be here to see it.
-
Think I'll go eat a cherry ripe.
-
I was also invited to a New Year's Eve party. It's at a friend's house that was designed by Richard Neutra in....oh I don't remember the year, but it's the coolest place. I think Neutra studied with Frank Lloyd Wright, and since I'm still really intrigued with Wright after my trip to Taliesin, it will be ther perfect place to ring in the new year
-
So, is it snowing yet? can't wait to see if DC really gets the 2 feet predicted
-
Shrimp Scampi sounds good.
-
It was good. As was the Cherry Ripe.
-
I'm quite tired. Four miles of jogging, one mile of walking, and non-stop doing, including a late-night run to the post office to night drop several packages.
-
what is a Cherry Ripe?
-
The Vixter thaks youfor your Vibes - today teh callback lisy was posted and her name was onit! She is greatly excited...please keep those Vibes acoming!!

Why am I awake at 1:00 AM?
-
DR Cillaliz, I have my land line via my cable company, and it has been just fine for me.
-
Mike please check your in box
-
I am finally addressing my Christmas cards - I apologize in advance that they are not having personal messages on them this year
-
They are threatening us with snow this weekend - I hope it holds off until wee can get the tree in from the garage it otherwise there will be no Christmas tree this year
-
Thanks MBarnum It could save me quite a bit since I have tv and high speed with them. think I'll call on monday so I can give the credit to the first woman who has gotten me to listen to her sales pitch. I asked if she gets credit for the sale if I call her back and she said "Yes" and gave me her direct line. So I'll call on Monday
-
DR VIxmom, you may want to get the tree out of the garage in the morning, just to be sure
-
I am hoping to get my cards done this weekend.
-
I love the irony of racing back from a global warming conference to beat a winter snow storm. I'm not saying there isn't global warming, I think there is, but it still makes me chuckle that they always have these conferences when it's cold and wintry
-
Good grief, I seem to be having a frenzy
-
I better get some sleep. I have much to do tomorrow
-
Oh Look page Nine!! cool
-
DR VIxmom, you may want to get the tree out of the garage in the morning, just to be sure
that's the plan.. actually that was my plan for the past 3 weeks - unfortunately I am unable to execute my plan as the tree is in the garage loft and it weights about 100 lbs so I must rely on the VixDad to do it and he has been having some arm problems himself...
-
I can't Wait to see the photos of your new office -Cilla - are you going to post before and after versions?
-
dang everyone went away
-
sad to be all alone in theworld
-
2:38 Am ... guess i should go beddybye
-
Cherry Ripe is a candy bar from Australia - dark chocolate, coconut and cherries - it's quite wonderful.
-
Notes are finished and shall be up on time, followed directly by our CD announcement.
