Congrats, BK, on a successful couple of nights of readings of the long musical!!
It helps if you know the series name to do that. Just out of curiosity I went to her website & everything I wanted was easily seen on her homepage, with just a an easy click to obtain additional info.
And the word of the day is: MEGRIM!
Good morning, all! I have my first day in two weeks with the McGlinnventory and I am happy to be busy. I don't know if my colleague Billy will be there as well, but I understand thast he left plenty of things for me to look over from the sessions last week when I was in DC. After that, I have a stop at Toyland, since the two offices are not that far from each other, to pick up some music I left there yesterday. You mean an oboe and clainet are different instruments? How shocking! Seriously, i don't envy you this job.
Last night I accomplished two pages on the 1902 WIZARD OF OZ; I don't believe the orchestration is the original but something done in-house by the Witmark Music Library to get the show ready for amateur-stock release. It's possible, too, that this was the reduction of the orchestration for the second-class tour, but we'll never know. A lot of it is really poor scoring and it's mentally exhausting trying to get your mind around it. Since this version was essentially buried by the stage versions of the 1939 film by the late 1950s, these rental parts haven't been played in over 40 years and they are filled with errors: oboe and clarinet play the same part, there's too much writing for the brass during vocal sections, and God knows how many cues for missing instruments have become real notes after the part was recopied several times as each earlier part disintegrated. I also think there may have been a harp in the show on Broadway but there's no harp in the rental version.
Greetings from Toyland! Lots of good finds in today's McGlinnventory, including a good sound performance of Victor Herbert's one-act parody of Wagner's LOHENGRIN, titled "The Magic Knight," from the Edinburgh Festival performances. I am now listening to it and the sound is fantastic!Sounds great.
I wonder if those hard-shelled chocolate eggs that i thought were Cadbury are really Hershey's.
I know both companies make the chocolate ones. For some reason i thought the peanut butter ones that i loved were made by Cadbury's. But now i think it may be Hershey's.
And these are not to be mistaken with the milk chocolate little eggs with peanut butter filling. Those are good too. But for some reason the hard shelled ones were a delicious surprise that i was not expecting.

DR Jose - that's perilously close to our "David Letterman" apartment...
Oh...
Nevermind...
Today's matinee of Jersey Boys has been cancelled (too). -Two cancelled shows during Spring Break week! Wow!
*And the Novotel hotel is still without power. -For those of you wishing to keep track of such things.
...came on the heels of our exhausting Easter weekend. I came home last night to a yummy chicken dinner prepared by DH Richard, after which I vegged in front of the TV and went to bed early. Looking forward to a few of days of puttering and no commitments.

I also thought that this was one of the best episodes of the season. But i agree with DR RonP that the sideways
story did completely monopolize the show. I wonder if loving desmond and or penny would make people love the show more. My sis who doesn't really like desmond or them as a couple was not crazy about this episode. but everywhere i've read, most fans completely love it. one two three four and then there were more one two three one two three four one two

interesting how a pet acts when a person leaves the houseyes, my bird is much nicer when he is restored to his rightful position as the center of the universe, which is what happens whenever company leaves.
I just read that Adam Lambert is going to be the mentor and perform and next week's IDOL. I think this is a great idea!
He may not have experience yet (like some of the mentors). But i think he was great at song choice, will be interesting to watch, and i think he knows what these contestants are going through.

I am looking forward to tonight's UGLY BETTY. I can't believe this show is ending soon. :(
Back from the meeting. The good news is that no matter what happens from here on in, I now own a piece of the show in perpetuity. I asked everyone to take a month off, to gather comments from people who saw the show, send everything to me, yay and nay, so that I can put it all in one document categorized in columns of things that people thought worked and things that people thought didn't work. The next draft of this show is going to go through a big change with many characters going away, plot points coming from characters we're actually interested in, and more focus on the things that actually work. Everything that is not germane to the story is going away - I will be merciless about it.
DR George, good news about your friend Margo. HEALING VIBES TO HER!!
Glad to hear that George's freind Margo is getting better

George, give me your show dates again - I will now actively start checking out flights, etc.
DR George - did you say that Margo had both knees operated on? I wish her all the best...
MattH, the good news is that no matter what anyone votes on, all those titles are in the works and will be coming.
Instead, they release 400 versions of THE MUMMY rather then some nifty John Saxon or Audie Murphy films!

My wish for Universal is that they would get around to releasing the hundreds and hundreds of catalog titles from the 20s through the 50s that have yet to see the light of day! So many fun movies just sitting there gathering dust!

LOL, DR TCB! Yes, Richard knows all about the apartment and the 72 steps we had to climb to get to it when we stayed there last October. Ordinarily, the building has an elevator, but it was waiting to pass its post-refurbishment inspection and could not be used. At least we got one of our nights free to compensate. I call it our "David Letterman" apartment, because it's 5 floors above DL's marquee on Broadway.

Jennifer, those Mini-eggs say Cadbury directly above the name!
BK will be merciless!
I have a stack of probably 12 Blu-rays I need to review, and yet I am here posting.
I love peanut butter M&Ms too good to be true.
The only time I get up that early is when I'm traveling. I think the girls believed I was going somewhere. They have been right next to me ever since I came home from work
I love peanut butter M&Ms too good to be true.
Craig has/had a big Mr M&M dispenser he kept filled with peanut butter M&M's. At first I didn't care for the peanut butter ones & eventually I became addicted to them.

Cilla "only" get pick up one day a week! Do you know anyone who gets more than that? Up until very recently we only had pick up twice a week. The way we found out it was changed to once a week it that our nice large trash can was switched out to a small extremely narrow can.

So, the picture you pictured was not the product you ate? -That was "Cadbury" in the pic. Anyhoo....
Reese's does make "Candy Eggs" too, and there are a couple of companies that make "Peanut Butter Candy Eggs" too - at least on this side of the border.
More "Lost" talk...
DR Jennifer - Part of "Lost's" method has been to concentrate on one character every now and then from the first season. Just sayin'.

I think she showed the bag to demonstrate what the candy looked like. That bag seems to be the traditional chocolate eggs from Cadbury, not ones filled with peanut butter.

Actually sometimes when i mention candy i am not sure if the brand is Canadian or US. One of our most popular chocolate candies is Canadian and i never knew this.
Smarties. They are basically the same as M&Ms but in different colors like purple, green red, black... And they are more pancake shaped vs balls. This is one of my favorite chocolates.

We used to get trash pickup twice a week. Now it's once for trash and once for recycling.
All of the cds you have produced what was the one did not sell up to your expectations?
And now, I'm off. I want to see if I can find some shorts to wear for a costume in The Brain From Planet X, and then visit Margo again. I still need to get her car keys so that I can pick her up in her van tomorrow.
Until later!
I always enjoyed that CD.All of the cds you have produced what was the one did not sell up to your expectations?
Wow, a question. I think that would be Prime Time Musicals.

ANYONE CAN WHISTLE sounded so wonderful, DR Elmore. Thanks so much for sharing this report with us. Also loved you shared a ride with Ted Chapin whose FOLLIES book I always love rediscovering every time I pick it up.

Great news, Ginny!
I've been wondering when they'd make an announcement.

DR DakotaCelt - Yes! Let's wait and see what the weather's like. If it's good, the zoo; if not, the Museum Center at Union Terminal. I'll send you a message with my cell phone number.
OK - this is about to go viral, so I can tell you all that, as of last Thursday (yes, April Fool's Day), Rob and Mary Linda are engaged:

Congrats and all the best!
They will probably wait to get married until Rob finishes his paramedic training next summer (2011).
Thanks to DR Druxy for clarifying which "Mammy" he ordered.
I was beginning to have doubts about my guesses of yesterday afternoon.
Perhaps, I thought, it was a made-for-TV movie of the story of Mammy Eisenhower!!!
;)
Well, Jolson's portrayal of Mamie E. was definitive, wasn't it?Thanks to DR Druxy for clarifying which "Mammy" he ordered.

I'm glad I could clear up any confusion.

Another big big hit for Encores! This is the first production of ANYONE CAN WHISTLE that I've really enjoyed and been moved by. I thought the Carnegie Hall production would be wonderful and definitive, and it wasn't. This production makes the show work really well.
Donna Murphy is a star and she's very funny, I 've always thought in the past Raul Esparza acted too much - he's one of the Victoria Clark "see how hard I'm acting" school - but I found him really charming and wonderful as Hapgood, and Sutton Foster is so moving and funny in her "Lady from Lourdes" costume and wig. The title song and the scene around it were beautifully done and very poignant, as was the farewell scene of "With So Little To Be Sure Of." Cora's henchmen, Jeff Blumenkrantz and Edward Hibbert, were really funny and I thought Casey's direction very clever and his choreography of "The Cookie Chase" stopped the show, a brilliant ballet parody, with the caged cookies emerging from the cage like the swans in "Swan Lake." My beloved Rob Berman's musical direction was excellent, and I kept wishing all evening that someone will record this production.
One reason that I love living where I live.
I think I'll watch Cocoon - a movie I didn't much like when it came out - maybe it's aged well, though.
I thought I knew everything Lindt makes. I don't remember the white chocolate eggs.
I used to purchase a mini bag of the Cadbury mini eggs every Easter. Why I don't know since I'm not really crazy about them. I would be willing to try peanut butter filled ones. ;)
I don't think i've ever tried peanut butter M&Ms. That is different from peanut filled M&Ms right?
Another easter treat i tried which i have never tried before was a lindt white chocolate little egg. OMG so good. It is soft white chocolate on the inside. White chocolate is my favorite kind of chocolate. I've tried the lindt balls before, but never the eggs. If you like white chocolate i think you'd like these.

Congrats, bk!
Had you considered asking/counseling the writers to take a break from working on "the long musical"? Maybe even just a week or two before diving back into it. It really does sound like they need to somehow come back to it with fresh eyes and ears in order to get any real work done on the show. -But that's just me...

Oh, that was the point of the meeting - we're taking a month off with no discussion of the show.
As for tonight's penultimate episode of "Ugly Betty"... :)
And I really will miss the show after it finishes up next week. :(

are you the brain?
I think my plan would be to come to see George's production on April 30th. Would there be time for a get-together after the Q&A? I'd be leaving the following day.
DR George, thanks for posting the show dates, maybe I can still fly up in May.
If I have any money left after I look at my taxes. Putting it off till the last minute. Do not want to know how much I have to pay.
I think I'll watch Cocoon - a movie I didn't much like when it came out - maybe it's aged well, though.
Oohh... "Cocoon".... Hmmm... Steve Guttenberg in swim trunks... Hmmm...
