Well, you've read the notes, the notes were odd but not hellishly so because we're through with any and all hellishness, and now it is time for you to post until the hellishly odd cows come home.

And the word of the day is: DESCRY!

And now - Dino at the piano.

Morning all.
That is all.
-
Well, I survived my first day back at work.
I got home and took a nap.
-
I'm taking half a sick day on Friday so I can go to the doctor to arrange for the appendectomy and to go over the results of the blood work and my earlier colonoscopy

good morning all

what would be really cool for the Gardenia Sherman show, is to have Guy Haines sing the song he recorded that was left off the cd

Good morning, all! I think the meds I got yesterday are raising some hell in my system: I don't feel sick, but I do feel puny. I'd rather have this going on today than tomorrow at the recording session so I'm staying home and letting things work themselves out.
I have little else to report. Last night I finished the Sal Mineo biography, which I enjoyed and found very thoroughly researched. My copy of THE METROPOLIS CASE arrived yesterday from Amazon, so I may begin that today.
TOD: TOM JONES: Dame Edith Evans, Albert Finney, and a great cast, literate screenplay, beautiful scenery and costumes, wonderful score, and it's funny as hell.

Tuesday morning greetings! Today is the day I am not going to the grantwriters' meeting because there's no car available. However, I AM meeting them at 5:30 for the dinner that was snowed out on Dec. 16. They are taking me and the other person who left the board last month for a treat.
-
DR Elmore - it's not unusual for powerful meds to make you feel worse before you feel better. Richard contends that strong antibiotics can really zap your energy.
-
That explains why I was so tired the first few days out of the hospital when I was starting to take my medications 3 times a day.

Only one movie? Oy!
I guess I would choose something long and with a lot of layers to take in and enjoy. I think I would go with FANNY AND ALEXANDER.

The vet just called. Joshie is getting sent home for bad behavior.
-
Oh no! What on earth did Joshie do?
-
Last night I decided the only way to keep Callie from food and water was to shut her in the new den. She sleeps in there all the time anyway so I figured she wouldn't mind. Well at 4:30 AM, Ricky decided he needed to break her out of there. He started trying to scratch the door down. It's a nice door so I wasn't going to put up with that. I yelled a couple times but he didn't stop so I went out and there he and Boo were staring at the door. So I opened it and let them in to the room with Callie. She was a bit upset, I'm not sure if it was because they came in or because she was shut in. So I turned on a light, turned on the TV so she could watch the news and after about 1/2 hour of the other two going in and out, I shut the door, took the other two with me and went back to sleep.
I did leave the light and the tv on. After the break out attempt was foiled, Ricky and Boo curled up on my bed and went to sleep.
This morning Callie was fine.
-
I'm up and will soon begin dealing with the rest of the shipping and stuff.
-
The vet called a little while ago. Callie's blood work is good. Her calcium levels are a bit high, but nothing to worry about. The vet is totally convinced that the lump on her lip is normal as she has one on the other side and she doesn't think a biopsy is necessary unless it really starts to grow. It isn't THAT big. I'm thinking maybe the catsitter irritated it with the way she gives Cal her meds.
They were in the middle of cleaning her teeth when the vet called. She didn't think she needed any pulled, but wanted the ok in case she did. I'm feeling a bit relieved.
-
Now I'll have a mad cat with clean teeth. I'll take that over a sick cat any day

Antibiotics and I do not get along. Are you taking acidophilus? Take some about an hour before, or after, your antibiotic. In fact I take a combination of acidophilus & Bifidus every day.
-

I've never had a vet that didn't do this. A friend of mine went to a vet that did her dog while the dog was awake. She said the teeth weren't cleaned as well.

They couldn't get him out of the kennel.
Was the original plan to put him out during the teeth cleaning or to do it with the shot to make him sleepy?
-
The original plan was to take the nice kitty out of the kennel and give whatever anesthesia they gave Callie. Only Joshie had no intention of being removed from the kennel. I believe they used the word "lunged."

Driving is a definite challenge at the moment..
Due to the snowbanks along the road here in the city many of them are almost higher than my car roof. It makes driving very entertaining to say the least.
Unprotected intersections are literally an experience in blind driving since you cannot see another car coming.. The city is trying to clear the snow from the corners but the ice under neath is not helping. I could take a couple of weeks before they get some of the corners knocked dwon and the streets widened.
-
At this point I am ready for spring but unfortunately we still have several months of potential snowfall. We are sitting at 45.6 inches and our normal yearly total is 48.8 inches.
They are already talking flood and we are only at the beginning of January. I am ready to move and I am tired of the Yearly major floods here. It is getting old

Sherlock needs to go to the vet soon. He has been biting a spot on his hip on and off for awhile as if he had a major itch. We couldn't find anything there until this morning when I noticed the area is very red. I don't know if we missed something or it is red from him irritating it. Either way we shall see if the vet can explain it. Something to spray the area would be good. We hope it doesn't need to be shaved.

I suppose this isn't strictly kosher (LOL), but probably Franco Zeffirelli's JESUS OF NAZARETH.
Naturally, I get more movie for my money (about 380 minutes uncut), but it is a film that I watch over and over; not only for the story but because of the incredible cast of actors used in the film. Every time I watch it, I see some small thing that I previously missed. For instance, Robert Powell who plays Jesus, blinks only once during the entire film, the boy playing young Jesus, only twice.
Sorry, my island - my movie!

That's what I heard this afternoon, but the crawl on ESPN says Michigan denies that a decision has been made.

For those of you who are slightly squeamish, unless you have pets & should read this, feel free to skip my post.
Earlier I mentioned Sherlock had been biting at an area on his hip or backside, on the left side to be precise. We couldn't find anything & I suspect the redness is due to the biting, not the biting from the redness. The vet said sometimes that spot on the body is due to itching, irritation & a plugged anal sack. Sure enough his left sack was slightly plugged & enlarged. She took care of the problem & will recheck it in two weeks. For his skin we have an antibiotic powder to use.

In the case of MegaMillions you're probably going to bring in at least 7-8 million (after taxes) per year, and you'll end up in 25 or 30 years (however long it's amortized for) with a LOT more $$$$$.

George I bet you know "stuck in the middle with you"
Well...it sounds vaguely familiar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DohRa9lsx0Q).

wonder if I wont ehMega Millions jackpot 355 million.... although the newscasters expalined that withteh cash upfront option and after taxes you wouold "only" get 15 million of which you would need to safely invest 80 million inorder to live off the interest and would "only" have les tahn 40 million for splurging purposes
ah well - guess I would just have to keep clipping coupons
with my solid gold sissors
Only gold?? You could get diamond-encrusted platinum scissors. ;)

Exactly! I would never take a lump sum.

Of course...it would help if I actually bought a ticket. ::)

Well, today has really been a day. At work, I was obsessing about rolling over the budget into the new year. It's all done through reports that I have to run...a report to roll over the vendors into the new fiscal year, then another report to roll over the accounts into the new fiscal year, then ANOTHER report to roll over the orders into the new fiscal year. That's been the most difficult to understand. There are so many options and choices and I have to try and make sure that it's all done the right way the first time because it can't be undone. I'm just at the point of doing it and not worrying about what rolls over that shouldn't or what doesn't roll over that should. Well, I'm sure that it won't all be done correctly and there will be a LOT of clean-up, but it does look like we can fix things.

He wasn't lunging and growling - he was attempting to wholeheartedly leap into the techs arms while opening his mouth as widely as possible, in an attempt to assist her in cleaning his teeth

Of course the private jet piloted by John Travolta will make all that dropping in relatively painless - and I assume with my own plane I can skip the strip search....
unless of course I'm feeling frisky

time to sleep with visions of bank vaults dancing in my head

I have heard this one.

Back from some dinner. Rehearsals were fun - had to make some key adjustments and a few little arrangement nips and tucks, but it's going to be a very good show, I think. We managed to get through about half of The Singer's show but from now on we're going to have to work at Boswell's house, because I give him arrangement stuff which he doesn't retain whereas if we're at his house he puts it right into the computer. Then I went to Islands and had a burger and fries.

A very long day.

I did manage to write seven pages and I'm about to write one more. Tomorrow is also going to be a little busy, but I should be able to find a concentrated period to write. That's all I really want - time when I'm not worrying about a million other things - that's why I loved last weekend so much. I should be able to have a similar weekend this coming weekend, although we have to train the interim helper for a couple of hours on Saturday and I have to pull the charts for the March Gardenia show. I'm hoping to get Muse Margaret the first fifty or sixty pages by Thursday so she can let me know if I'm on the right track and that she's happy.

Did walter Kerr actually have a rep for being a gentleman in his reviews.

Another thing that happened today...my sister called me this afternoon. She told me that our aunt Mary Lou (our dad's older sister and oldest sibling) found out what happened to their brother, Charles. Years ago (more than 30), for some reason, he didn't want any more contact with the family. We knew that he'd gotten married but nothing more than that. Well, it turns out that for quite a few years, he was a fairly well-known street artist in New York! There was even an article in the New York Times (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9D04E3DB143FF937A15754C0A9639C8B63) about him. When I found this article this afternoon, there was also a link to the illustrations that are referenced in the article, and even a photograph of him, but I haven't been able to find those tonight. I (fortunately) saved the pictures at work, but I didn't bring them home. That's what's taken me so long to post this...I was looking for those pictures. I was able to find THIS (http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=240655&GSub=40306) one picture that he drew.
And we also found out that he died five years ago. :-\ HERE (http://www.trevorlittle.com/2006/02/22/02_26_2005_dumbo_cat/) is a memorial website where people have posted memories. Aunt Mary Lou made the last post at the bottom. We only found out through this site that he had a son, Sean (I have a cousin that I never knew about), who posted that he didn't even know that his own father had died. He explains in his post. I did a simple Google search and found this obituary (http://www.thevillager.com/villager_146/charliedougherty.html).
Weird day, huh?

And now, I need to go to sleep. I have to get to work a little earlier so that I can do workly stuff that involves the budget and a new fiscal year.
