This morning I am buying TWO new tires for the PT CRUISER......I have the first appointment of the day at the Tire Barn - but who knows how long it will take.

I hope to do so more work on the new play.  Did some additions and corrections last night.  This is the FIRST play I have written on my new Sony Computer.....in Word 2007 (I know, that's NOT so NEW) - but it is very easy to use.

I am saying here on this very day, before my play is even finished, that if my friend Bryan decides to produce it - it will interfere with my schedule for directing CAMELOT this summer.

That is the way it always works.

Hopefully, the Institute money will land tomorrow, but God alone knows when this asshole running the Foundation in Philadelphia will send payment for either of the two outstanding invoices, which come to a good deal of money. On the positive side of things, I've put the laundry into the washers and I believe I'll vacuum and mop the floors before I head off to NYPL. It's another Historic Newspapers day. I am determined to learn why Booth Tarkington wrote a lyric for Victor Herbert since the biographies of both men never mention the other.

I cannot complain.....they had at least 52,000 miles on them.

Not as a matter of course, but sometimes I like to be different.

Is there a program that will take musical notation that you enter on a QWERTY or keyboard and then print it out on musical paper?

I know that Encore had - and still has(?) - a QWERTY entry method. However, it's quite keystroke intensive, and it's very hard to correct anything. However, most notation programs use a "drag and drop" method, so, if you have a mouse it's quite "easy".

Finale has "Notepad" which is a very basic program - and, strangely enough, it's more intuitive than their full-fledged programs. You can try it out HERE (http://www.finalemusic.com/notepad/default.aspx) and view a demo.

The laundry is finished, the floors mopped and the bed made. My temper hasn't improved since I'd hoped there might be a fluke, as sometimes happens, that the bank transfer happens around 10:30am when banks on the west coast are operating. No such luck this morning.

Perhaps a trek to the NYPL will improve my spirits.

DR Elmore has gotten me hooked on the TV series NOAH'S ARC. I have one last episode from season 2 to watch, then I am all done (I guess there was no season 3).

Love the show, but it often made me glad to be single. The acting in season one was pretty bad, from some of the actors, but they all seemed to improve by season 2.

And I now have a new favorite actor in Jensen Atwood...this guy has personality!

After NOAH'S ARC ended he joined the cast of DANTE'S COVE, so now I guess I need to finish watching that (horrid) series.

My ask BK question of the day:

What movie have you always wanted to see, but have yet never been able to see.

For me, it is the Allison Hayes / Willard Parker movie HIGH POWERED RIFLE (1960).

Added to that list is the Bollywood film GOGOLA (1966), which is the Indian version of GODZILLA.
I have seen the poster and read the plotline...now I MUST see the film! That is, if someone will be kind enough to someday release it to DVD.

Hey, kidz!

Bruce, your discipline for the writing is so inspiring. Always was.
I just sent in - a day late - my article for the February issue of Bunker Hill Magazine - I've been writing a monthly article or two for almost a year now - wow, tempis fugit! This one is about the West Coast premiere of the Wynton Marsalis Symphony #3, "Swing Symphony" - with the LA Phil. Can't wait to hear it. The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will be on hand, sitting in - the piece had its world premiere in Berlin last June, the US premier with the NY Phil in Sept as part of their gala opening of their 2010-11 season. So it finally makes its way west to sunny Los Angeles!

Tonight is the hoo-hah opening night of the LA Art Show - the high rollers in the art industry - artists and collectors from all over the world hit the LA Convention Center, wearing all their diamonds - I got invited because my last month's Bunker Hill Mag article was all about THIS show... I get two tickets - but have NO DATE!! Bruce!!! Wanna go???

Vibes of all sorts of mental, financial and just all-around richness to you.

So far, not many interruptions - just a couple of minor ones.  I've done about six pages so far - I also had a sandwich and fries (I made a page of notes whilst doing so), and picked up a couple of packages, including the three UK show masters, which are going to the mastering guy tomorrow.

Kelly Sullivan should be here soon, which leaves only Alet's music unclaimed - this seems to be a recurring theme with her and we're going to have to have a conversation about it at some point.  She's juggling three jobs, I think, and I can see that it's doing very bad things to her psyche.  And this morning, she texted me and told me she'd just quit one of them, so hopefully that will help.

For me, it is the Allison Hayes / Willard Parker movie HIGH POWERED RIFLE (1960).

Bruce!!! Wanna go???

LA Phil?  Isn't that the name of that famous groundhog?

Lovely photos, DR Laura.   Is there any tracking mechanism that would allow you to know if the butterflies that were in your back yard are the same as the butterflies you see overwintering?   Yes, I know there are millions of butterflies, just wondering how they track the tags
Title: Re: BOY, INTERRUPTED
Post by: Laura on January 19, 2011, 07:45:55 PM
There are numbers on the tags. I give that info to the Monarch Scientist and she turns it in to both a southwest group that tracks them as well as the nationwide group that monitors them.

Looking at printers for the new computer I bought for the office.   Edith didn't seem very excited about it.  Of course it isn't set up yet.  I think once it's all set up she'll love it.  Faster -  Our ancient huge multifunction copier etc that I bought used 4 years ago is starting to act up when she tries to print envelopes etc.  So I'm thinking I'll get her a new laser printer and we can keep using the big one as a copier and fax until it dies.  I think we can still get quite a bit of use out of it.

I suppose that's for the best.  But throwing it out the window could be fun.

Guess I should try to get some sleep.  I didn't sleep well the past two nights, so I'm hoping tonight will be different

Picked up a new book on Northern Great Plains folklore and folkways. One of the authros I had as a professor for several classess over the years. I was pleasantly surprised to see one of my contributions to the folklore database he has used in the book.

I noted my name in the back of the list of collectors whose work he used.

Had a relaxing meal out and watched a motion picture on Blu and Ray - maybe I'll write a page and finish the chapter I'm on.

I can't sleep....for the third night in a row....I can't sleep.  This is driving me crazy.  I finally came downstairs and to join in on the nightly kitty romp.  They do have a good time while I'm sleeping romping around in the living room.  they aren't keeping me awake, but it was kind of fun to come down and see them all playing together.  They acted pretty surprised to see me.

Think I'll go up and read.  I'll either fall asleep or finish my book, either way it will be warmer than it is in my living room right now.
