Well, you've read the notes, the notes were better and brighter and beguiling, and now it is time for you to post until the bewitched, bothered, and bewildered cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ACCINGE!
-
Morning all.
That is all.

Wednesday morning greetings! My Mother and I have plans to do errands together, but the predicted thunderstorms may interfere.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I really hope that the rain and snow(!) today does not interfere with my travel plans. -Although, I'm also hoping that it all looks pretty as I head north along the Hudson, and the west along the southern edge of the Great Lakes.
-
And...
I had logged in here last night, started reading... And then I realized I had fallen asleep with my MacBook on my lap... So...
-
Good morning, all! I slept late with lots of weird dreams, the last one had me working on a tv comedy show and the musical section I was working on, which dealt with a flute player driving a conductor mad and their duel, was suggested by our DR FJL who put in a guest appearance in this dream.
LOL, DR cillaliz! I did mean "defender" not "defendent"! Chase has been a huge supporter of the show and Julie Taymor's rights in it since its travails began.
DR vixmom, God alone knows the next chapter in the Toyland saga; I am not eager to go back, much as I lke the work. I've been acting as the project supervisor on my original rate as a proofreader and I deserve 3 times the pay. The response to my email denied or overlooked too many of my charges, and I will not go back to that chaos without some structure.
Today, lunch with my friend Joseph Rubin, and the rest of the day will be spent on the Herbert work here. I need to make a trip to Lincoln Center rhis morning to pick up some meds and purchase my train tickets to the Library of Congress on Friday.
-
DR vixmom - I survived yesterday's orchestra rehearsal. Some of the music I played - and sightread - quite well. Some of it, well... I just didn't bother playing. ;) Thankfully, none of the piano parts were that exposed, so... And the conductor and orchestra manager were very understanding too.
Whew!
-
DR elmore - When you book your Amtrak tickets, do you use "Julie" on their automated phone system? "Julie" can come in quite handy especially in regard to securing a cheaper fare. You can book with "Julie", and not have to pay for the ticket until later. -You also insure a space for you during peak travel periods. 1-800-USA-RAIL (872-7245)
-
Oh...
DR vixmom - I did not get any hot chocolate yesterday. Instead, I had one of those amazing Nutter Butter cookies from Bouchon Bakery. -And the cookie was "treated" to me by a student I've played for at SETCs who is in town this week for Spring Break. :)
-
Very interesting lists, DR Michael S.
-
And... In other news...
I'm looking for another apartment. Again. The place I was going to sublease fell-through yesterday morning. It may "work out" again towards the end of the week, but, in the meantime, I've started looking for some other options. Thankfully, everything is in storage, so it's not like I'd have to deal with rushing to get all of my stuff somewhere next week once I'm back from Chicago. -And I do have two more good leads on new places; one of which happens to be three blocks from my old place. ::)
-
Oooohhhhh....
Rest In Peace, Elizabeth Taylor.
:(
-
I can't find any obits other than just tweets that she died. I assume the full obits will come later.
-
And now I need to go pack my bag(s) for my trip to Chicago. I was hoping just to take my smaller luggage, but with the colder weather forecast for this weekend, well... Sweaters are bulky.
Laters...
-
Sad news about Elizabeth Taylor...
-
Have fun in Chicago, Jose. I was there in March once, and it snowed. We had left from Arizona without knowing it was going to snow there. What a surprise!
-
Train travel vibes to DRs Jose and Elmore!
-
Poor Liz Taylor!
I've looked at Amtrak tickets and schedules in line, but I won't book it till I hear from my frend Loras at the LoC. It would be nice to have dinner with him before I return to Union Station, if his schedule is open.
I will book later today or tomorrow.

-
Good Morning.
-
It feels like a Wednesday.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Thanks for the heads-upon on Liz Taylor.
-
Great list, Michael S.
-
RIP Dame Elizabeth
-
Aw, it is sad about Liz Taylor passing away, especially because she had been so ill and bed-ridden these past few years. But what a life she had! And since the 80s, she used her celebrity to help so many. She was quite a lady.
-
Good news from DR VIXMOM last night.
-
Elizabeth Taylor Hilton Wilding Todd Fisher Burton Burton Warner Fortinsky....RIP.

It seems so complicated so I haven't done anything about the problem.
Would you be totally blind if you just had the goggles without your glasses? I have never thought about this. I guess since you can't swim with glasses anyways wouldn't you just be able to use the goggles? Or do you swim with your head out of the water?
-
Elizabeth Taylor was indeed a great lady. I just got through reading a couple of her obituaries online and wish they had made more of her charity work. She lost more friends than Rock Hudson to AIDS. Malcolm Forbes and Roddy McDowell also come to mind.
It was weird, though, reading the New York Times obit, because the byline was Mel Gussow, who died in 2005. I know that papers write obits in advance, but that was just a little too creepy.
-
elmore - What time was you dream? I was sending "patience and financial sense vibes" to you around 1 a.m. so wouldn't that be something if it times out that way?
:)
-
I read the notes too fast this morning and thought BK was doing a "book singing" - which sounded kind of lovely, but I'll bet the reading and signing will be just as lovely.

So in that "Audra McDonald to play Bess at A.R.T." story that broke yesterday
http://www.playbill.com/news/article/149072-Audra-McDonald-Reveals-Casting-in-Porgy-and-Bess-at-ART
does this mean they may actually be changing (or supplementing) some of George Gershwin's own melodies and harmonies?
-
From DR Vixmom:
Dr said I look 100% = no need for PET scan
Great news!! I even came early to read the posts since I missed it last night.

I wondered that myself. Or if they will go back to doing it as a musical with speech in between songs. I hope it won't end up like "Carmen: The Hip-Hopera."

I woke up to big headlines. While sad news I have been expecting it. I'm glad the headlines have given her the tribute she deserves.

I absolutely need my glasses to do the exercise class. Since I swim after I just kind of started to swim wearing my glasses and liked it. I've never done that before.

I liked the adjusted for inflation list.
-
Did anybody see that ABC/People Magazine special last night: THE BEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME...or whatever they called it?
:P
-
I avoid television shows like that, DR DRUXY.....my guess is most of the "winners" were made since 1995.
-
I am now intrigued by ORDEAL BY INNOCENCE, which I have never seen.
I ordered a VHS for $5 including shpg.....only other choices Beta tape or Laser Disc.
-
Oooohhhhh....
Rest In Peace, Elizabeth Taylor.
:(
I just turned on the TV and that's all the morning talk shows are talking about.

It was around 4 am or so, DR FJL.
I've just had horrible news. My friend, actress Helen Stenborg, has died at age 86. I dearly loved her and I will miss her enormously.
I found a photo of Helen with Timothy Busfield. I just spoke to her daughter Lauren.

What it means is a another attempt, like the one Trevor Nunn did in London about 6 years ago, to turn a silk purse into a sow's ear.

Another great lady gone. I'm sorry to hear about Helen Stenborg, DR Elmore.

I wonder if there will be any flying in the new PORGY AND BESS?
-
I'm up and awaiting the arrival of tape transfer guy who's returning a couple of reels so that I can then return them to the vaults.

I've been bitten by Broadway

I've been bitten by Broadway--
I'm done, for sure!

-
Sorry to hear about your friend, DR Elmore.
-
Sorry to go quiet there for a while - our internet went down briefly, probably due to the "severe" weather we're having. Still sunny and warm...
-
Dear Lar, I know how much you cared for Helen. I saw her in Vigil (her last performance, I believe, Off-Broadway). She had a great life and career and you were blessed to be her friend.
-
Condolences to Larry.
-
I turned on the new laptop this afternoon at lunch. It all seems to be working correctly. I just have to enter the information to make the wireless card work so we can use it for Internet and for when/if Anthony goes out of town.
It will take some getting used to visually as well. But I think it's all for the best.
The desktop computer has been delayed and the pending date of delivery is now April 4th.

With the passing of Ms. Taylor, I'm trying to recall what stars are left from Hollywood's Golden Era:
Olivia de Havilland
Joan Fontaine
Luise Rainer
Mickey Rooney
Kirk Douglas
Ann Blyth
Angela Lansbury
Celeste Holm
Jane Powell
Shirley Temple
Eleanor Parker
Anybody else?

Congrats to DR BEN on his new laptop!

Even though she had a fairly short career (last picture in 1949) Deanna Durbin is still alive and living in France.

Back from returning tapes, so that's done.

Post deleted :)

Good Afternoon!
Well, I have to say that my "existence" over the past two weeks has really helped me with my time management issues. I started running errands at 11:00, and in under three hours I managed to get to my storage unit, drop off some music, checked in on a friend's new restaurant by Grand Central, made a run down to City Bakery for some of their Hot Chocolate "At Home" boxes and shopped for some snacks at the Union Square Greenmarket for my train ride.
Whew!
-

I wondered that myself. Or if they will go back to doing it as a musical with speech in between songs. I hope it won't end up like "Carmen: The Hip-Hopera."
I'm a bit scared of what could end up happening to that Work Of Art too. From what I've "heard", most of the changes will involve incorporating passages from the original play, thus making it more of a "play with music". Well, in this case, a "play with arias".
*I'm just wondering what's going to happen to the orchestration.

And a little while ago, there were some big, ole fluffy flakes of snow falling on the Upper East Side. It was very pretty.
:)
-
I hope DR Dakota Celt and her DH are all set for their next round of Wintry-Spring weather.

And speaking of trains... I have one to catch in about two hours.
Time to get the rest of my stuff together, and head down to Penn Station.

*And if you happen to be an Amtrak Guest Rewards member, they're are running a special Double & Triple Points promotion. You just have to click on the promotion on their homepage to register for it. It's amazing how fast (or slow) you can earn a free trip segment.
**Additionally, if you reserve with "Julie" and don't pick-up/purchase the ticket later, there's no penalty for (not) doing so. So, if you happen to have a possible date in mind, it might be a good idea to go ahead and make the reservation. -And since we're in the midst of Spring Break season in NYC, that might be a good thing.

Nah. I'm thinking something more along the lines of: three keyboards, a gut-bucket bass, jug, banjo and a harmonic (non-chromatic, of course).

Well, I heard that not only are the performers doubling as the orchestra and playing instruments on stage, but they have to make their own instruments from household items.

What I know of Audra is what I see in performance. And she's fabulous!
In Sondheim's recent birthday concert she was astounding in both voice and appearance.

John G., I think, mentioned that Mel Gussow wrote ET's obit and here is an article from NPR about that very thing.

DR Elmore, So sorry about your friend
-
WOW! It just occurred to me, I can go to movies at night now and not wait to go to a matinee when it's cheaper!
-
Thanks!
I was primed for a huge legal battle! :D
-

Any time you choose. Except when they're closed. Isn't that fab? I'm happy the passes came through.
-
With the passing of Ms. Taylor, I'm trying to recall what stars are left from Hollywood's Golden Era:
Olivia de Havilland
Joan Fontaine
Luise Rainer
Mickey Rooney
Kirk Douglas
Ann Blyth
Angela Lansbury
Celeste Holm
Jane Powell
Shirley Temple
Eleanor Parker
Anybody else?
June Kenney
???
-
I'm sorry to hear about your friend, DR Elmore.
-
Cillaliz, they knew better than to stiff a lawyer!
-
Uuuuuugh.
-
Thirty-two bags of trash from the church yard, and I don't think you'd see the difference unless I pointed it out to you.
-
In the past couple of weeks, I've put a considerable amount of effort into clearing too-big clothes from my closet and preparing them for my favorite consignment shop. Alas, I just received an email from the owner announcing their going-out-of-business sale :(
-
Cilla got her movie pass!! Cilla got her movie pass!!!
Congrats!! It's about frakkin' time!
:D
-
Well, at least you didn't drop off the stuff to sell and lose it all when they went out of business.
-
Back from a sandwich and onion rings and then, surprisingly, no packages.
-
The Counterfeit Traitor (http://www.kritzerland.com/counterfeit.htm) has arrived!
-
Tenor Joseph Kaiser, who plays the lead in the Kenneth Branagh film of THE MAGIC FLUTE, will be stopping by in around 30 minutes to pick up some music.
Here's a scene from the movie, which Branagh has set in World War 1.
-
Well, at least you didn't drop off the stuff to sell and lose it all when they went out of business.
Yes, DR Laura, there is that...
-
Thanks!
I was primed for a huge legal battle! :D
I think my caller ID that says "attorney" in it may have helped avoid that
-

Thanks. And since neither the feds or state have passed legislation to pay the money they still owe me, free entertainment is a very welcome thing

Thirty-two bags of trash from the church yard, and I don't think you'd see the difference unless I pointed it out to you.
Can't you get the animal related club next door to take it on as a service project? Hey it's right near the bar, they just might say yes
-
Hmmm, I'm considering a movie tonight, but have already agreed to take brother Paul to see CEDAR RAPIDS tomorrow night. Hey, it's free,.
-
Think I'll head home. I stopped at Petco this noon and they had a great sale on cat beds.....the kids will be thrilled.

They don't do any yard work at their place.
-
The "trash" is the frost-damaged plants that I cut back and stray grasses that came up. It isn't garbage -- just clippings.
-
LOTS and LOTS of clippings.

Still think it's creepy.
-
Glad you finally got the movie passes, Cillaliz!
Ditto.

elmore - What time was you dream? I was sending "patience and financial sense vibes" to you around 1 a.m. so wouldn't that be something if it times out that way?
:)
It was around 4 am or so, DR FJL.
I've just had horrible news. My friend, actress Helen Stenborg, has died at age 86. I dearly loved her and I will miss her enormously.
I found a photo of Helen with Timothy Busfield. I just spoke to her daughter Lauren.
http://www.playbill.com/news/article/149087-Helen-Stenborg-Broadway-and-Off-Broadway-Actress-Dies-at-86-
I used to love her on "Another World." Her character was so hateful.
-
Mr Kaiser has picked up his music and gone. I'm drowning in paper: I have to find my copies of all 102 Herbert songs, 10 cello pieces, and 16 piano pieces. I have this storage carton full of all the music but there are multiple copies of some pieces and I need one copy of each.
Time to order some dinner, too!

I wish I'd seen her on that. She was such a lovely and kind lady. She and Barney were on a fantastic episode of HOMICIDE; it's the only footage I've seen of them together, so I bought the entire season just to have the episode. She's also in the Merchant-Ivory film THE EUROPEANS.
-
I guess we've really lucked out in the past, but trying to set the rehearsals for this Kritzerland show is a nightmare. I think we've finally done it, at least I hope so. I always tell everyone up front what the deal is, they accept, then suddenly it's this and it's that and I guess that's the nature of the beast. I normally like to do Tuesday and Friday the week before the show, but Tuesday proved impossible and had to move to Monday.
-
Good Evening!
Greetings from Albany, New York!
...Where the train just stopped to pick up and drop off some passengers.
-
Oh...
And the police had to board the train too. ???

DR elmore I'm sorry about the loss of your friend.

What's that Joan Morris song? "The body in the baggage car ahead?"

So in that "Audra McDonald to play Bess at A.R.T." story that broke yesterday
http://www.playbill.com/news/article/149072-Audra-McDonald-Reveals-Casting-in-Porgy-and-Bess-at-ART
does this mean they may actually be changing (or supplementing) some of George Gershwin's own melodies and harmonies?
I was just trying to imagine if Julie Taymor had been signed to direct this version.

:o ;) :D
-
In today's mail I received a nice surprise - See's Caffe Latte hard candies! Thank you, dear DR Jane!
Did they arrive in one piece? Keith thought the envelope I used was too thin.
-
Should I have asked if the little pieces whole or broken?

There are strict instructions with my movie pass about immediate family only. Since my "immediate family" living here all have 4 legs, I have adopted Paul as my brother
Odd, about the pass not your adopting Paul.

I will lay odds that Bess ends up singing SUMMERTIME.

Hmmm, I'm considering a movie tonight, but have already agreed to take brother Paul to see CEDAR RAPIDS tomorrow night. Hey, it's free,.

When did SNL alumn Victoria Jackson go off the deep end? Gosh, I used to love her!

It's a family pass for 4 people. I have no idea how they would prove you aren't bringing in your immediate family. I'm really not that worried about it. Mom said she's happy to have another son

In other news...
It seems that a passenger did not want to sit in his designated car. -They assign cars according to which city/station you are de-training at. From what I could tell, he was allowed to re-board.
???

DR Cillaliz - RE: your movie passes: Of course, there are those dates and times that are *'d "No Passes Accepted". -But maybe that doesn't happen in Sioux City, Iowa. ;)

Not very often, actually. There are some special events but I rarely see no passes.
-
DR Jose - wave southward when you cross I-75!
-
Plus it's a 12 plex theater, so there's always something to go see
-
Had a really good day today. Can't quite explain why, nothing that spectacular....well other than getting my movie pass...but it was just a feel good sort of day
-
Well, I'm off. I'm going to my sister's for some vegan chili. At work tomorrow, we're having a chili cook-off and my sister said that she'd make some vegan chili for me to bring. So that's what I'll bring.
Later tonight, some friends from Cannibal! are going karaoke-ing. Today is the birthday for a couple of cast members and since there's no rehearsal tonight, they're going to party...but it's not starting until 9:00 pm or so, so I don't have to miss it. :D
Until later!
-
...Hi everyone!!!!!
-
Hi, DR SwishySarah!!!
-
Swishy Sarah - always nice to see your sporadic face here!
-
Hi SwishySarah!!! :)
-
Are you on spring break?
-
Hi Swishy Sarah!
-
I am not- spring break for me was a month ago! Although it wasn't much of a "spring" break since it was about 20 degrees in Ann Arbor the entire time. Nope, I was just wasting time on the internet instead of practicing, and BK posted something on Facebook, and I thought, why not go over to HHW and check things out? I'm a little ashamed to admit that I can't even remember the last time I was here, but I'm so happy to be reading up on everyone's lives!
-
I love seeing all of the familiar faces/names!!! Brings joy to my heart :D
-
I don't believe I have met Ass Farrow.
He was on the site a long time ago and he's a pompous twit.
-
So, what's new, Swishy?
-
Hi SwishySarah!
-
Hmm...well I don't know what was going on the last time I was here (again, hanging my head in shame), so I'll just summarize what I'm doing right now!
I graduated from James Madison University in May of last year, and in September, I moved to Ann Arbor, MI, where I'm studying for my Masters in Opera Performance. It was a huge transition, moving to a city where I didn't know a single person, but I learned to love Michigan. The university is top-notch, and as a result, I'm getting some incredible opportunities. Actually, this weekend, I'm singing in the University Opera Theatre production of Mark Adamo's Little Women!
And then a week and a half after, I'm singing Dorabella in a workshop performance of Act I of Cosi Fan Tutte. My teacher, Melody Racine, is a perfect match for me, and I'm improving by leaps and bounds with her. She's a rather big name in the Music Theatre world, she's had a number of pretty famous people study with her, but she's also a fantastic opera technician. I'm very busy, but I love it. I'm also very fortunate to be taking voice literature classes with Martin Katz, a HUGE name collaborative pianist, he's basically a walking encyclopedia. Tim Cheek is on faculty here as well, and he's the world expert on Czech vocal literature, so I'm taking a course with him where I get to learn tons of Czech repertoire.
Sooooo I'm really happy! Still with my boyfriend of almost 4 years, Tim...things are great :). He was just accepted to the University at Buffalo for grad school to study Volcanology in their Geology department, which is a huge relief (Buffalo is only 5 hours from AA if you cut through Canada)!
...that about sums me up! How is everyone here?
-
I remember Swishy Sarah when she was a teenager.
-
Now I feel OLD.
-
Hey, Swishy!
-
It is raining very hard and I'm wishing I didn't have to go see this show tonight.

...you have no idea how far the puns have gone over the semester, but I'll say that they started in January, when I brought my checkbook to pay for my Czech book and I wrote the check to Tim Cheek but had to check the spelling.
They are ENDLESS and fun!
-
Swishy have you had sweet potato fries at Grizzly Peak?
-
My son went to Detroit for New Years, from Chicago, and of course stopped at Zingerman's. He sent me a couple of Ginger Jump-Up cookies.
-
Hi, DR SwishySarah - Go, Blue! I love that your voice teacher is named Melody.
-
My teacher, Melody Racine, is a perfect match for me, and I'm improving by leaps and bounds with her.
I'm glad you chose the right school for you and it is going so well. You have a beautiful voice.
-
Hi, DR SwishySarah - Go, Blue! I love that your voice teacher is named Melody.
It is a perfect name. :)
-
DR elmore's goddaughter is at U of M.
-
I just went to Grizzly Peak for the first time last night, and had some sweet potato fries!!!!! What a coincidence!! Also, I am currently a contingent employee of Zingerman's Deli! I worked there through last semester, but with the two operas right now, I couldn't keep a regular schedule, so I'm just on-hold until next fall, I think.
I have to say that Ann Arbor has an amazing selection of bars and restaurants...I'm not much of a "going-out" type college student, but I try to go to a new place every week. Favorites are the Sidetrack bar/restaurant in Ypsilanti, Cafe Habana, and the Black Pearl downtown.
-
G'nioght!
-
Nice to meet you, SwishySarah.
-
You too, John!
Goodnight TCB :)

I never made it to many bars but the restaurants are great. Did you dip your fries in the may/pesto sauce? If not ask for it next time.

Swishy Sarah!! How nice to see you back here and how wonderful to hear how well you are doing!!
-
Thank you all for the Congratulations ---

Melody is seriously an incredible voice teacher, and she attracts major talents. Bragging time: this is one of my greatest friends from UofM, Hailey Clark, who is also in Melody's studio. I'm trying to send this video in as many directions as possible, she's INCREDIBLE and deserves as much attention as she can get! I'm also living with her next year, and hopefully I can gain some of this beauty from osmosis!

Score finding vibes for Elmore
I've given up looking for them. I'm going to the Library of Congress to photocopy them on Friday.
-
We had some fierce thundersnow a I was driving home from work at 8:30
The sky lit so brightly it was if blinding and then the ground shook - I thought at first there has been an explosion

DITTO!! I did mean to say so earlier today.
-
I'm watching the DWS I missed on Monday...now I'll really be confused about what day of the week it is
-
We have 2 friends who sing with the Dayton Opera Chorus and we've never been to a performance. We heard a promo on the radio tonight for their upcoming DAUGHTER OF THE REGIMENT and I've been investigating tickets. For the kind of seats we like it would cost $70 each to attend the D-a-y-t-o-n Opera ::)

I am doing very well ... now to make YOU feel old --- remember that little girl that used to share my avatar? She is graduating high school this year

that is high. I don't think the San Antonio Opera charges that much.

BTW, DR Ginny, does Dayton still have a good orchestra? I remember enjoying it and the contemporary dance company a lot when I lived in Middletown.

Thank You, DRs vixmom and Jane - And as it turns out, I may already have another place lined up. One of the "kids" that I played a Disney Cruise Line audition for is looking for a sublettor because he'll be starting on the Disney Dream next week. It really is a small world after all. ;)
-
DR JohnG, that's not the cheapest ticket, but it's not the most expensive, either. I was shocked! There's a Miami University Men's Glee Club concert the same night that we could attend for a lot less money.

I'm watching the DWS I missed on Monday...now I'll really be confused about what day of the week it is
I was trying to figure out why Cilla was watching a shoe store http://www.dsw.com/

DR SwishySarah - Yeah! You're taking a class with Marty! :)
Have you taken any classes or master classes with either William Bolcom or Joan Morris?

I am doing very well ... now to make YOU feel old --- remember that little girl that used to share my avatar? She is graduating high school this year
That sounds like a cue for a parody of "Sunrise, Sunset" by DR FJL. ;)

Housing Vibes for Jose
DITTO!! I did mean to say so earlier today.
Thank You, DRs vixmom and Jane - And as it turns out, I may already have another place lined up. One of the "kids" that I played a Disney Cruise Line audition for is looking for a sublettor because he'll be starting on the Disney Dream next week. It really is a small world after all. ;)
Excellent!!
It's a world of laughter, a world or tears
its a world of hopes, its a world of fear
theres so much that we share
that its time we're aware
its a small world after all
There is just one moon and one golden sun
And a smile means friendship to everyone.
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It's a small small world

BTW, DR Ginny, does Dayton still have a good orchestra? I remember enjoying it and the contemporary dance company a lot when I lived in Middletown.
Yes, the Dayton Philharmonic is still in business, as is DCDC. Actually, the arts are pretty strong in Dayton - amazing for a town that's otherwise on the skids. I was surprised to see so many opera seats already taken.
-
There are strict instructions with my movie pass about immediate family only. Since my "immediate family" living here all have 4 legs, I have adopted Paul as my brother
How stupid. Instructions? They gave you 4 passes, then they say you can only use them at one time. And now only with family, when you have no family in town?
-
I'm watching the DWS I missed on Monday...now I'll really be confused about what day of the week it is
I was trying to figure out why Cilla was watching a shoe store http://www.dsw.com/
LOL Vixmom that would be DSW not DWS
either way those shoes are too darn expensive (and trendy) for the likes of me

I would like to hear that!

DR SwishySarah - Yeah! You're taking a class with Marty! :)
Have you taken any classes or master classes with either William Bolcom or Joan Morris?
Why am I not the slightest bit surprised that Jose has friends there?
-
Ok, so I've seen all of the new season's Dancing with Stars competitors.....not that impressed. But it's only the first dance....we'll see what happens next week. I see some potential, but we'll see.

Well, Martin Katz is more of a mentor and idol to me. He's a true Accompanist's Accompanist.

It's one family pass for up to 4 people. I was thinking 4 passes. So that part was my mistake. No one is going to check IDs. I think they just don't want to have me passing it around to people when I'm not using it. If someone goes with me, I'm sure there will be no questions
-
Nice to see Swishy again!
-
DR SwishySarah - If your "Smanie implacabili" ends up on YouTube, you better post a link here on HHW.
-
Glad to hear there maybe housing in DR Jose's future....vibes it works out very quickly

I really liked Karate Kid. Was not expecting him to be that good from his practice. Kirstie Alley was also very good. And Chelsea (Disney kid) seems to have a lot of potential.
I also thought that Hines Ward was good. And i like Dmitry. So may cheer for him and petra.
-
I'm going to watch American Idol now.
-
Haha I was about to say- I'm pretty sure Martin Katz is "friends" with NO ONE! Scary man, albeit an incredible teacher. Jose, did you study with him?

My father had them play that just before Keith & I walked down the wedding isle. Talk about getting old that was almost 42 years ago.

Haven't a clue ;)

Swishy I'm sorry to say I have to leave & miss out on the fun of having you here.

I didn't do this one, but I think the pictures by whoever did it are cute anyway

Hi Swishy Sarah, I don't recall that we ever spoke, but I've heard terrific things about you.
-
DR Jose whom I have missed terribly- William Bolcom isn't actually on faculty anymore! However, I'm told that if I prepare some of his pieces, he's happy to do coachings for free. I actually just ordered his songbook, since I only had individual copies of a few songs. Hopefully in the fall I can work with him or Joan Morris! Next week they're doing a concert at a small concert hall around the corner from where I live, but it might conflict with a Cosi rehearsal, I haven't found out yet. But yes, I will absolutely get a copy of Smanie online! SO FUN!
-
Night Jane! I'm sure I'll be back more once the operas are over!
-
I know we were discussing Knoxville: Summer of 1915 the other day. I just learned that Alvin Ailey choreographed a piece to it. Anyone know anything about it?

This made me think of Randy Newman
"Would you like to come over for tea With the missus and me? It's a real nice way to spend the day in Dayton, Ohio On a lazy Sunday afternoon in 1903"
-
It has nothing to do with your post...was just the thought that came to mind, lol
-
Thunder and lightening here - better sign off.
'night!

Oh, I never did a SUNRISE SUNSET parody, but I actually did (believe it or not) do a parody lyric for TO DOUBT DORABELLA from COSI FAN TUTTE:
It's at
http://community.nytimes.com/comments/artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/07/13/more-opera-coming-to-a-movie-theater-near-you/?permid=3#comment3
if anyone wants to see that oddity. :)

That OK. It's a game I've been known to play a time or two. A friend once called it synapse bingo. Wherever the mind takes you.
-
A synapse usually follow a little shnapps, my zayda used to say.
-
Wise man, your zayda.
-
My zayda's wisdom has brought the talk to a halt. :)
-
Am I imagining that FACTS OF LIFE once had a joke about "Cozy fan Tootie."
-

Coinkidinkally, the program for tomorrow night's concert by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, http://poamericas.org -That's the orchestra rehearsal I played for yesterday. -And since they finished with the Barber, I got to leave early since there's no piano in it. However, I did end up staying to listen to it - I love the writing for the winds in that piece.

nope just ran off to check out youe parody!! Very funny as usual!

Well, I'm sure that Frederica Von Stade and Marilyn Horne would consider him a friend. ;)
-I took a few master-classes with him in DC many years ago. He was "strict", but funny, good-humored too. -And I still want his "cheat" for Mozart's "Exultate Jubilate"!
-
Well, it's lights out on the Lakeshore Limited, so...
Goodnight.
-
Good night, Jose. Safe travels!
-
Carol Burnett is on Jay Leno tonight. Well, she's on his show. She looks fabulous!
-
Thanks, vixmom and Jose!
-
Skip is back from SISTER ACT. He had a fantastic time!
-
That's the first good word I've heard about "Sister Act." Maybe Douglas Carter Beane is helping after all.
-
Having walked out on Sister Act at the Pasadena Playhouse, it would have had to have a LOT of work.
-
Back from a somewhat amusing show.
