DR SwishySarah - If your "Smanie implacabili" ends up on YouTube, you better post a link here on HHW.

Hi DR Vixmom! Man I am just loving seeing all of these familiar names and faces- how are you?

I am doing very well ... now to make YOU feel old --- remember that little girl that used to share my avatar?  She is graduating high school this year

I was thinking about that but couldn't get back to post. :)

Housing Vibes for Jose

DITTO!!  I did mean to say so earlier today.

Thank You, DRs vixmom and Jane - And as it turns out, I may already have another place lined up. One of the "kids" that I played a Disney Cruise Line audition for is looking for a sublettor because he'll be starting on the Disney Dream next week. It really is a small world after all. ;)

Ok, so I've seen all of the new season's Dancing with Stars competitors.....not that impressed.   But it's only the first dance....we'll see what happens next week.   I see some potential, but we'll see.

I really liked Karate Kid. Was not expecting him to be that good from his practice. Kirstie Alley was also very good. And Chelsea (Disney kid) seems to have a lot of potential.

I also thought that Hines Ward was good. And i like Dmitry. So may cheer for him and petra.

Haha I was about to say- I'm pretty sure Martin Katz is "friends" with NO ONE! Scary man, albeit an incredible teacher. Jose, did you study with him?

That sounds like a cue for a parody of "Sunrise, Sunset" by DR FJL. ;)

My father had them play that just before Keith & I walked down the wedding isle.  Talk about getting old that was almost 42 years ago.

DR SwishySarah - Yeah! You're taking a class with Marty! :)

Have you taken any classes or master classes with either William Bolcom or Joan Morris?

Why am I not the slightest bit surprised that Jose has friends there?

Haven't a clue ;)

BTW, DR Ginny, does Dayton still have a good orchestra? I remember enjoying it and the contemporary dance company a lot when I lived in Middletown.

Yes, the Dayton Philharmonic is still in business, as is DCDC.  Actually, the arts are pretty strong in Dayton - amazing for a town that's otherwise on the skids.  I was surprised to see so many opera seats already taken.
Really good news.

DR Jose whom I have missed terribly- William Bolcom isn't actually on faculty anymore! However, I'm told that if I prepare some of his pieces, he's happy to do coachings for free. I actually just ordered his songbook, since I only had individual copies of a few songs. Hopefully in the fall I can work with him or Joan Morris! Next week they're doing a concert at a small concert hall around the corner from where I live, but it might conflict with a Cosi rehearsal, I haven't found out yet. But yes, I will absolutely get a copy of Smanie online! SO FUN!

I know we were discussing Knoxville: Summer of 1915 the other day. I just learned that Alvin Ailey choreographed a piece to it. Anyone know anything about it?

This made me think of Randy Newman

Oh, I never did a SUNRISE SUNSET parody, but I actually did (believe it or not) do a parody lyric for TO DOUBT DORABELLA from COSI FAN TUTTE:

That OK. It's a game I've been known to play a time or two. A friend once called it synapse bingo. Wherever the mind takes you.

Coinkidinkally, the program for tomorrow night's concert by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, http://poamericas.org -That's the orchestra rehearsal I played for yesterday. -And since they finished with the Barber, I got to leave early since there's no piano in it. However, I did end up staying to listen to it - I love the writing for the winds in that piece.
