Well, you've read the notes, the notes were back, and now it is time for you to post until the back on the boards cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: UMBRA!
-
good morning to everyone
-
to everyone that needs vibes you got them!
-
I don't have plans to watch to watch or listen to any specific movie or music this weekend
-
As for Sunday and the Tony Awards I no longer watch them. Just like the Academy and Emmy awards I know longer care who wins or have the patience to sit through them
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD:
MP3 -- "Within the Quota," Cole Porter's ballet; "You're the Top," a collection of Porter songs from the 1930s.
The rest is "who knows?" because of travel.
-
Congrats to MR BK on the LACC show! Sounds like fun! And it is a great opportunity for some lucky students.
-
Last night's performance was fine and we had the best audience response we have had yet in the run. Two more nights.
I am working 1/2 day today.....so I had to be up EARLY......and EARLY tomorrow for a 1/2 day. Whew.
-
For today only you can get the BOOK OR MORMOM MP3 album download for only $1.99 - the whole CD. So I bought it and will convert it to WAV files to burn to CD.
I listened to one song - Two By Two - which was okay.
-
Oh.....at amazon.com - just put BOOK OF MORMON in the search box...... free is better.... but $1.99 is a bargain.
-
TOD:
DVD - The Last Gunfight (again)
CD - Camelot London Cast Album
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
That just about says it all.
-
Off to work. Oh well.
-
Oh.....at amazon.com - just put BOOK OF MORMON in the search box...... free is better.... but $1.99 is a bargain.
Don't forget to download your digital booklet.
-
Good morning.
-
Friday morning greetings! Richard arrived safely shortly after I signed off here last night (well, early this morning...). His trip was smooth and the Bishop is resting as comfortably as possible with a fractured vertebra from a middle-of-the-night fall.
Rob is about to retake his paramedic exam, so mega vibes would be appreciated.
I have to be at the AAUW garage sale site in an hour for my 2-hour sales stint.
-
Very strange situation with THE BOOK OF MORMON ocr. They've been giving it away through free streaming on the 'net for about a month and now you can outright buy the digi-tunes for $1.99. I guess the show is such a hit that they can afford to skoff at the pittance a recording would earn and would rather use it for promotional purposes.
Even though I had recorded the streaming version, I still bought the hardcopy cd. It is a very handsome package.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I guess I should make some coffee and/or tea.
-
DR Ginny, I'm enjoying looking at your pictures from last night.

Well... Technically, you were not supposed to record the stream, so... ;)
But...
Anyhoo...
I thought I had read that the sale price of $1.99 was actually going to be good until June 13. ???
I also read that the first Amazon sale of the OCR - when it was $0.99 - actually got the record company off guard. ???
As for their motivation behind offering it at such a low price - I think they're doing it to make it less likely to be pirated. ???
And as for packaging - the Book (script) of the "The Book of Mormon" is quite a handsome package too.
-
Sorry for all the ??? 's in my previous post.
I think.
???
-
Thank you, DR Dan (the Man) for both posts!
-
MEdia Check:
iPod: on an early Beatles kick
DVR: Drama Desk Awards and THE HORN BLOWS AT MIDNIGHT

DR Jose, I do many things I'm not supposed to--but don't we all?
I have to take a look at the BOM script book. I thought it was just text, but if it includes more pics of Andrew Rannells in his underwear of the cast, I will be very interested.
-
TOD:
The DVD hasn't arrived yet, but assuming that it does, I'll be watching TRUE GRIT (2010) this weekend.
Last night, I watched KEY LARGO.
That one never gets old.
-
There are a lot of OCRs available from the current B'way season--HOW TO SUCCEED, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, PRISCILLA, WONDERLAND, SPIDER-MAN, BABY IT'S YOU, SISTER ACT (London recording)--but I have no desire to order any of them. I am interestd in the new ANYTHING GOES, but that won't be available until August.
In the meantime, I think I'll order to soon-to-be-released studio recordings of SWEET BYE AND BYE and STRIKE UP THE BAND.

Page Two ANYTHING GOES Dance:

(No, not the current B'way revival. It's a 2009 Queens College production.)

Off to the garage sale - bye for now!
-
Speaking of college productions, looking forward to hearing about BK's LOST IN BOSTON/UNSUNG MUSICALS LACC show this fall.

DR Dan (the Man) - Well... Yes, we do.
As for the BOM script book, I was referring to the multi-color text. As for any more pics, well... There used to be more on his Facebook page. ;)
-
*And, yes, the OCR of BOM is on sale on Amazon until June 13 (http://www.twitvid.com/U2F54).
-
Good morning, all! I've slept late. Again. I've got the last EILEEN score to be proofed, "I'd Love To Be A Lady," and I need a trip to the bank. I also need to purchase a birthday card for my brother Randy. Those are the parameters of my day. It's a rather empty schedule for the nonce.
Tonight, after my Brit sitcoms on Channel 21, I'll finish up Disc 3 of THE DUCHESS OF DUKE STREET; two more discs to go.
TOD:
DVD: DUCHESS OF DUKE STREET, Discs 4&5, a couple of movies but I forget now what they are
CD: Offenbach: MADAME FAVART, MADAME L'ARCHIDUC; 2nd edits of the Herbert music, Guy Haines, Liz Callaway
VCR: Smut
-
And now I need to get out for a bit.
Thankfully, it's a little cooler today outside.
Laters...
-
Happy Friday!
Maybe we can get some of the floodwaters from the midwest to put out the fires burning up northern Arizona.
-
Greetings and salutations to all Hainsies/Kimlets, past and present, alive and deceased, active and in exile.
-
Hi all - off to the last 2 hours of school then off to the Land of Disney. Will check in later!
-
TCB, many vibes for you to start feeling better right away!!
-
TOD Media check:

DVD:
Hope to get to GUNS, GIRLS AND GANGSTERS

I'm so far behind in paperwork and my own stuff that needs to get done.

So . . .
Where the hell is everybody?
-
i'm reading but it really hurts to type
-
So, here's a question for the DRs:
What tv commercials currently running amuse you and are there any that drive you mad?
I'm very fond of the Ocran spray commercials and a lot of th Geiko commercials.
We have a local merchant, Bob's furniture, which provides endloess hours of making me wish he, his whiney voice, and the idiot blonde with him were exterminated. I also detest Regis Philbin's commercials for TD Bank.
-
Thank you to DRs Jane and Elmore for Rob's vibes - no word yet.
-
The kids like that VW commercial with the kids trying to break the pinata.
-
I have written up two little 3x5 index cards with the basic flow for my standup DAY boo this evening.
-
Thinking about food. Did a little revising on episode four.
-
Welcome thirteen GUESTS.
-
I now have some major grocery shopping to do - bye again!
-
Oh, one more thing:
Break a leg tonight, DR JMK!
-
Thanks, Ginny, although considering the HHW tradition with regard to Jane and TCB, maybe we should find another phrase to use. :)

I plan to watch the Tony Awards...if I'm home. ::) TAO (http://www.olytheater.com/) is having their annual election of new officers (I'm up for one of the officers-at-large) and the meeting/potluck starts at 4:00 pm. Who knows how long it'll go, but I'll DEFINITELY be recording it!

Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles, I'm seeing Book of Mormon tonight. A friend and I have been entering the lottery for the past few days because we want to see the show before the Tonys. We didn't win until tonight. We now have front row seats for $32.00. The orchestrations are by Larry's friend Larry Hochman who was nominated for a Tony.
Later.

Oh, yes, Congrats to Rob!

Thank you, DR Ben, and enjoy the show!

I saw Catch Me If You Can (Larry Blank) a few weeks ago and, despite the mixed reviews, I really liked it. I hope one of the two wins the Tony. It will probably be Hochman since word is almost everything will go to Book of Mormon.

But somehow, I couldn't muster enough enthusiasm for "Book of Mormon" to download the CD for $1.99. If the library gets it, I may copy it, but it left me so apathetic on first listen that I can't imagine wanting to listen to it again.

Ginny, I'm using this last night to clean some of hte house. I ahve to come home to a filthy house and, well, this place is filthy. The bird is safely ensconced in the Tweet Suite, his home away from home, and I can get frantic without my feathered friend flopping about on my shoulder.

On Wednesday having not had a flooded basement for 2 days we felt we were due for another good soaking
A hose pipe burst right next to the basement window by time we discovered it we were ankle deep in water
-
Since it poured down it managed to soak boxes and boxes - were are now in the process of removing everything from the basement seeing what we can salvage and tossing what is unsalvagable
We are also amassing a huge garage sale pile which is good because the church is having a garage sale next weekend
-
I have not caught up and I am unlikely to be around much for the next few days
-
back to the basement

VIBES to one and all and all and one
-
Good Evening!
Well... I had stepped out earlier to go to lunch... And then once I realized that this would be my last full weekend in New York City until late October, I went ahead and stayed out.
-
DR vixmom - I hope that most of the boxes that got soaked were filled with things you were going to throw out anyway. Be sure to take breaks this weekend as you clean up. Take care of yourself.
*Maybe the vixter could have a "Help Me Clean Out the Basement Graduation Party"? ;)

And speaking of seeing shows...
I will be seeing Death Take a Holiday tomorrow night. It turns out that one of my regular coaching students is Jill Paice's boyfriend. :)
-
So...
Today is National Iced Tea Day. Well, at least that's what Snapple said/declared. And in conjunction with National Iced Tea Day, Snapple gave out free lunches - and free bottles of Snapple - at five of New York City's most popular food trucks. Since I hadn't been to Schnitzel & Things (http://schnitzelandthings.com/) for a while, and since the Schnitzel & Things truck was basically down the street from me, well...
There was quite a line when I got there, but the weather was nice and people were in good spirits. Plus, the guy giving out the bottles of Snapple made sure everyone stayed hydrated and smiling. And my Pork Schnitzel, Roasted Beets & Feta Salad and Braised Sauerkraut were all quite Yummilicious! -And the Raspberry Snapple - "made with REAL sugar" - was quite thirst-quenching too. ;)
-
And then it turned out that the Sweetery (http://sweeterynyc.com/) truck was just a block away doing a promo with Yahoo!, and they were giving out free Blackberry Whoopie Pies. Dessert!
-
So . . .
Where the hell is everybody?
;)
-
Thanks, DR Jose!
-
DR Vixmom - sorry to hear about the water damage in your basement.
-
Mary Linda has arrived safely from Michigan and we're all going tomorrow to an open house at Rob's paramedic school. He will receive his pin and we'll go out for a nice lunch afterwards.
'night!
-
Then I just continued wandering and walking. I made my way to Grand Central Terminal. When I got to the Main Concourse, I noticed a SEA of fluorescent yellow-green shirts. It turned out a middle school from somewhere in Ohio had just arrived and were starting their weekend class trip in New York City. I asked one of the chaperones just how many students he was traveling with: 200(!).
I wished him well and Godspeed. ;)
-
Then I walked down 5th Avenue for a bit past the New York Public Library... Then over to Madison Avenue for a bit... Through Madison Square Park... Down Broadway to Union Square Park... And then I checked in on Doug at The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck.
-
Everything was going well at the BGICT, and even though he had a constant stream of customers, he wasn't slammed. Well... Once 4:30 hit, the line literally went from 4 people to 25 people. Of course, that was when the freezer pump on his soft-serve machine decided to stop working. Luckily, it was only down for a minute or two... But the line kept growing... Eventually Bryan, Doug's partner and Partner, arrived, and I stepped in to expedite orders and act as cashier.
Of course, the machine just stopped working again for a bit. Well, more than a little bit. Thankfully, the weather was nice and everyone in line was quite understanding. After checking some fuses and switching some switches, everything started back up again.
...And about two and a half hours later, I bade my farewells and headed back uptown.
-
OOHHHHH!!!!
There was one "lady" who came up to the window of the truck. She was dressed in a very smart, black business suit, and she had a roller bag...
"Excuse me, I have to catch a train back to Philadelphia... Could I cut in line?"
-I explained to her that that would be up to the people "behind" her.
They all said, "No."
"Well... I really do have a train to catch, and I took a taxi from 72nd down here so that I could grab a cone before heading back to Philadelphia."
-Again, I explained to her that all these people had been waiting in line for up to 30 minutes, and that it just wouldn't be fair to them to let her cut in line at this point.
She then turned to the people in line:
"I will buy your ice cream for you, if you let me in."
After some hemming and hawing, a young woman finally acquiesced - I think mainly just to get the lady to go away.
"Do you take credit cards?"
Um, No.
"Well, what if I wrote you a check?"
No. There is an ATM next door.
"But I'm really in a rush and I don't have time to go there."
-Of course, by this time, she had been there about 10 minutes.
She eventually found some cash in her purse, got to the window...
"Well, what should I get? What's your most popular item?"
Cue the of eye-rolling.
She eventually settled on a Monday Sundae and a Salty Pimp.
"Do you have a cup or dish I could place this in?"
Yes, we can give you a "boat".
When Doug handed her Monday Sundae thru the window, and placed it in the "boat", she asked for a second one to cover it. Then she asked to make sure that her Salty Pimp was also placed in a "boat".
"Do you have ice packs? I'm bringing these back for my husband in Philadelphia?"
Cue more eye-rolling.
I really don't think those will make it to Penn Station. It's soft-serve and not hard-pack.
"Really? You don't think they'll stay frozen? My husband has heard so much about the truck, and he can't get into NYC during the week"
Well, we are out on the weekends too.
"Really?"
By that point, we just gave her her treats and let her go her merry way. Now whether that was to Penn Station en route to Philadelphia... Or just over to a bench in Union Square... We didn't really care by that point...
Buh-BYE!
::)

But somehow, I couldn't muster enough enthusiasm for "Book of Mormon" to download the CD for $1.99. If the library gets it, I may copy it, but it left me so apathetic on first listen that I can't imagine wanting to listen to it again.
not sure if the library would get a copy because of the language unless they get the "clean" version
Our library would.

Ginny, I'm using this last night to clean some of hte house. I ahve to come home to a filthy house and, well, this place is filthy. The bird is safely ensconced in the Tweet Suite, his home away from home, and I can get frantic without my feathered friend flopping about on my shoulder.
Tweet Suite isn't that a song from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?
-
Great ice cream story, Jose. I think some people should just be made to live near Sarah Palin. Real near her.

that's what they call it. And the cat area is, yes, the cat house.

John the image of you cleaning with your feathered friend on your shoulder made me smile.
J.B. is on my shoulder most of the time I'm at home. He doesn't like to be there when I cook, but that's about it.

Sorry to hear about the flooding, Vixmom. Gotta love those church yard sales, though. It's a bright side, at least.
-
That took us to Page Six!
-
And with that, good night!

Don't ask me why but I just watch the funerals of James Mitchell, Ruth Warwick, Eilleen Herlie and Frances Heflin as their characters on All My Children

Doug does get his share of crazies at the truck, but this lady was truly something, er... special. ;)

Mary Linda has arrived safely from Michigan and we're all going tomorrow to an open house at Rob's paramedic school. He will receive his pin and we'll go out for a nice lunch afterwards.
'night!
I wonder what one does at an open house at a paramedic school?
Do you get to play "triage"? ;)

Not in what we just uploaded - but there is another cast album coming shortly, along with Jason's album and a cast album reissue of Adryan Russ and Doug Haverty's Inside Out, starring Jan Maxwell (everyone's fave from the CD Follies, Cass Morgan, Ann Crumb, and others.
The "CD Follies"??... Oh.. Got it... The "DC Follies"...
I guess it's nice to know that DR vixmom is always here on HHW in spirit. ;)

It's not Ask BK Day, but...
bk - Have you explored digital distribution rights for some of your limited edition releases? -If that's even possible. Could you do a limited "hard" pressing along with some sort of digital/iTunes release?
-
And speaking of seeing shows...
I will be seeing Death Take a Holiday tomorrow night. It turns out that one of my regular coaching students is Jill Paice's boyfriend. :)
Cool. I wanna hear how Maury Yeston's score is. He's been working on this for ages.
I'm looking forward to it too. -And I really do like the Laura Pels Theatre too. Sounds like the perfect space for this chamber-musical.
-
And since it's just shy of 1:00am...
And since I'm supposed to be down at the Union Square Greenmarket in nine hours, well...
Goodnight.

The film companies never give digital distribution for limited editions - they keep all those for themselves.

When music CDs were first being released in "edited" and "Parental Advisory" versions, our library actually would get both and have them on separate records, so that people could choose which version they wanted. I don't remember when they stopped, but the library (finally) decided that two versions of every available title was too much money to spend. Now, they get the unedited version every time...and no one has complained. :)
