Well, you've read the notes, the notes were short and sweet and also sweet and short, and now it's time for you to post until the short cows come home. The tall cows are staying put.
-
And the word of the day is: HYPERBOREAN!

Had a fun weekend with Dog Piper...he is such a little sweetie! My allergies seemed fine after the first night, so that was good.
We took lots of walks and he visited many trees and he spent much time cuddling on my lap.
He never did get to completely trusting Freddy the cat. Freddy was always very nice to him, however. There were couple of times, when I was out of the room, and then I would hear a loud "yipe" from Piper, who I would then find hiding under the guest room bed. I don't know what occurred while my back was turned, but Freddy always looked completely innocent.

I know there were some things from yesterday's posts that I wanted to comment on, or answer, but now I have forgotten what they were.

Oh that's Freddy, not Freddie.

My only comment, then, is to say that I watched my favorite Bollywood movie again, today. GUMNAAM (1965). A wonderful Indian version of Agatha Christie's TEN LITTLE INDIANS.
You can see the trailer for the film here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XemNT6cY8EE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XemNT6cY8EE)
It is quite a fun film.

Back from picking up Mr. Barry Pearl and taking him home. His flight was thirty minutes early and so I'm home over forty minutes earlier than I thought I'd be, which is GREAT. The airport at midnight on Sunday was a madhouse.

good morning to all

as for the tod i can't think of a film this early in the am

Good morning, all! Last night was a completely frazzling series of emails concerning a binding machine I never thought the McGlinnventory should have invested in, deadlines for getting music shipped to Dublin, and a producer who knows little although his intentions are good and how his lack of information is screwing up my schedule of events. As a result of all of this I had a very restless night that had me out of bed at 5:15, rather than lie there are fret. Today could be another day from hell since I have to go in this morning and deal with all of this nonsense.
Last night, when I did sleep, it was a round of peculiar and strange dreams, of which I remember the following:
I was retiring from the police force and flying to Europe
I was in my parents' home smoking a joint and causing a fire in the shag carpet
I was in a museum talking to Marian Seldes and Betsy von Furstenberg
I was in a meeting/conference with Robert Kimball, among others and we were looking for a knife to cut the chocolate cake while we discussed a problem with a Gershwin recording
I was walking on a lawn to a bus stop
I have no other news. I am irritable and crabby over this recording situation and this binding machine.
WAIT UNTIL DARK
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
We went to dinner last night at East of Eighth and had a lovely time.
We will be on Long Island for the 4th of July weekend.
It will be a long week at the office.
-
We did watch Wuthering Heights over the weekend. I enjoyed it but I liked Jane Eyre better.
-
We didn't see much of the March/Parade. We heard a lot of it because there were half a million people attending (according to the news) and most of them seemed to be on 5th Avenue and 16th Street. When Governor Cuomo walked by we heard the chants and cheers very clearly.
-
And now, back to Amon G. Carter.
-
I just got an email from our paralegal that she is sick and cannot meet me this morning. The frustration over this project only increases. So we are now on for Wedensday morning.
-
Good morning, all.

Change in plans - it's now raining quite hard, so the books are going to stay in my car for a while. Richard and I just made a date to go see MIDNIGHT IN PARIS and out to dinner this afternoon/evening.

DR DtM mentioned PLAY MISTY FOR ME.....which we saw at the drive-in several times....
It took me many years - MANY YEARS - not to want to kill Jessica Walter every time she came on the screen in movies or television.......I am not sure I am over that yet......

Jessica makes Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction look normal.

More and more of our families are coming up with excuses as to why they can't come to Zach's Bar Mitzvah. I am not pleased.

Good idea DR LAURA.

BK, is the MPAA's Bob Pisano related to John?

DR JRand - I'm staying with my brother out in Centreville. It's a little bit of a hike to get into DC, but almost everyone who works in DC usually has a bit of a hike to get to get to work. -And I'm still amazed at the people who live in places like Annapolis or even West Virginia(!) who commute each day in the District.
Once the show opens, I think I'm still going to take the Metro into work. My "plan" right now is to go in a couple of hours early each day, and spend that time getting to know the various museums of the Smithsonian again. And it's also been years(!), since I've been to the top of the Washington Monument.
*And the Food Truck craze has finally hit DC too, so... ;)

Well, who'da thunk it. Back at the beginning of March, I ordered The Human Comedy (http://www.footlight.com/product.cfm?product_id=2656) from Footlight.com. Sometime in the middle of April (because I hadn't received it yet), I sent an e-mail asking if they knew how long it might take for me to get the CD, if it's still available. No response. In May, I sent another e-mail asking "Is anyone there?" STILL no response...so I just figure that they couldn't get it or it's no longer available or the guy died. I had no idea. Anyway, I get back from lunch and it has just arrived out of the blue!! It's a brand new, sealed copy in perfect condition, but they never responded to my e-mails. Weird, huh?
Anyway, thanks to the people who offered to send me copies. I wanted to wait until I heard something from Footlight, and now I have...three and a half months later.
:)

Back from a great transfer session - all I can tell you is we spent lots of time on Dancing Dildos and Honey, Whatcha Doin' Tonight, and we color corrected every shot, fixed the bad framing issues on certain shots and these numbers look incredible now. The internegative is really in good shape, I have to say. And the color has never EVER looked like this - it's so accurate now it just makes me deliriously happy. Also fixed terrible framing issues in Lesbian, Butch, Dyke that have always been there. We kind of made an attempt to fix them on the DVD but we've REALLY fixed them for this transfer. Our director of photography never knew when to tilt up or pan or not to pan or not to tilt - it's like he was taken by surprise anytime anyone moved anywhere - even though he'd watched three or four rehearsals in a row. But now, we've pretty well fixed his errors. We only have fifteen minutes left on reel five, so we should be able to finish tomorrow - whether we actually have time to lay it back to digital tape I don't know - Let 'Em Eat Cake will require some time to get right, another number that's never looked very good - there'll be some reframing things, some major color correction and hopefully it will come out as well as the rest.
-
Good Evening!
I finally made it out of the house for a bit. I headed over to Hanaro Plaza which is basically strip mall anchored by Spa World and Hanaro Food (a huge Korean supermarket). There are also a couple of other Korean/Chinese/Japanese restaurants in there too, as well as a sports bar and a "tequila cafe". Anyhoo...
After walking "the strip", I checked out Hanaro, and then ended up having a late lunch/early dinner at their in-house cafe. I tried their jja jang myun - noodles topped with a black bean, pork and onion sauce. It was quite good, and quite a bargain at only $4.95 too.

I then moved storage units with the help of the helper - we actually got it done in two hours. I found the box of memorabilia I knew was there but that I couldn't find when finding stuff for the photo section of the book. Too bad, too - this box had the TV Guide listing for The Young Lawyers, my first TV show, several great programs, some reviews, and one name I could not remember that I would love to have included in the book - the star of the third production of Start At The Top - Linda Urrea. I knew it was Linda but could not remember the last name, nor could anyone else. One of the leads in the third production was named - Jimmy Carter! I have no memory of about half the cast listed in the program.
-
I know I should jog but it is insufferably hot out. Still, I'd planned not to do four miles today (cannot do that every day) - so I think I'll go do two miles or two and a half, then go have a sandwich at Jerry's Deli - or maybe some eggs and bacon. It's so frustrating that the weight loss is so slow in coming, although I do see it a little now. I postponed the radio show until Wednesday night - just too tired after this busy little day.

bk - ...And before you start your class action lawsuit against your storage space, be sure to check your past bills as well as your original contract. I'm sure there must have been some sort of notice of "change of rate" at the bottom of one of your bills over the past couple of months. -Also, be sure to check your original contract to see when, how and if they have to notify you of any changes in your rental contract, including your monthly fee.

In the amazing department, someone just posted on my Facebook page that they'd seen me on You Tube in a clip from Nudie Musical on The Mike Douglas Show with Cindy as a guest. I talk about this episode at length in the book and how, after the clip they went to commercial and Mike came to me and asked me how he could get in on it as an investor. To see this all these years later is unbelievable - Cindy comes on around thirty-five minutes in - you can fast forward to her entrance.

Funnily, it does have a lot of browns - lots of brown clothing, brown sets - that's the way this film is. But when color arrives, especially in the film within the film numbers - it's PINKS, and ORANGES, and REDS - lots of pastels, actually - so much fun to see it the way I actually remember the stuff looking when we shot it.

She's awfully wonderful in I, CLAUDIUS, too, as his mother. I should watch that series again.
Richard and I watched I, CLAUDIUS while we were dating and, for that reason, used the theme from MASTERPIECE THEATRE as our wedding processional.
Our wedding processional was "The judge is ready for you now."
;D Where were you married DR Laura?
-
In the court where I worked at the time.
-
Decided to stay home - too pooped to go anywhere. So, making low fat low-cal hot dogs. Not nearly enough calories for a day (only about 610 all in), and I already ran off the plain bagel (no cream cheese) I ate at the lab - so, maybe some soup later, or some chips or something like that.

Horse-Racing in Bryant Park?!?!?
And They're Off!! (http://youtu.be/POJEkwv-Oss)

*This is totally adorable. Be sure to watch the interview with the winner at the end.

I wonder how often couples request that one. ;D
We've heard it at one other wedding - a music teacher colleague of Richard's.

Not quite sure what you mean, Jane--our families, you know, brothers, sisters, cousins.
Yes, is that what you meant or groups of families, not related, who were invited.

Oh, okay! I thought you meant like other Jewish families; as in, "We went to all of their kids' bar mitzvahs, but they aren't coming to our son's."

Isn't that weird how I just stuck myself right into the middle of JMK and Jane's conversation.

In other news...
After a few more hours of sitting on the couch watching TV, I believe I'm going to go ahead and get ready for bed now. Tomorrow - and Wednesday - are going to be two very long days for me: staging rehearsal from 10:00am-6:30pm, and then orchestra rehearsal from 7:00pm-11:00pm. And since I have to be on the bus by 8:15am each day, well...
At least tomorrow's rehearsal is starting off with a Company Breakfast. :)

And...
Goodnight.

My niece finished kindergarten on Thursday. So today was her first day of summer vacation. She had swimming lessons at 9:30am, junior junior synchronized swimming lessons at 11am. And 6 and under swimteam at noon.
When I went over to see her later she had fallen asleep. I guess she was tired! :)
The good thing is that 4 of her best friends from her class also belong to the same pool. So she will see most of them everyday. It's so cute. They hug each other everytime they see each other or say goodbye.
-
No rain today. Yeah! It was such a nice sunny day!
My body is so sore. Went swimming with my nieces right before dinner. Can't swim with them there. But there is a treading water exercise i can do that really works out my muscles.
Supposedly they put up lanes to swim at 5:30pm. So i may try that one night. Although the pool is where my sister lives. And i'm not really supposed to go without my niece (although not sure they'd check if she was there and left).

Bk, I'm sure you must have said this before, but why do you only like to eat only one meal a day when you are on a diet? I've never heard of such a thing. I could never survive. I like to eat lots of fruits and vegetables. And eat at least 3 times a day.

Speaking of Bollywood, last night's Cupcake Wars was for the India Film Festival and a Bollywood star was a judge, don't remember his name.

Fun clip!

After a very stormy night with people being washed away in flash floods, power outages, trees down etc,. it was a wonderful day today. I think the temps hit the lower 80s with low humidity and sun. It was windy, but with all the water we've had lately, we needed it to dry things up a little

Since it was the first time since Memorial Day when there was a 24 hour period without a forecast of rain, I stained the east side of the garage after work. I still have to do the rest of it, but this is the side that faces the street and is most obvious. If tomorrow night is nice, I may do another side.
-
It didn't take that long, maybe an hour and a half. I'm staining it the same color as before, it was just wearing pretty bad and wasn't looking good. Now it looks great again.
-
Not sure how my shoulder will feel in the morning, but it feels ok now.

Waiting for Cindy to come on the Mike Douglas show.
Rehearsal was fine tonight....finished Lusty Month of May....more staging than dancing so we can hear the lovely singing.....very difficult for me.
I gave my SCORE to the vocal director, so choreographing from the script and a Chorus Book is most difficult.....
And there is no way to say.....from the tra la or from the lusty month of May....there are too damn many of them. I tried to do it by the square numbers as well......but for some reason, some people can't find what's right in front of their faces.

DR JRand, you and I may have a new favorite entertainer!
Rita Pavone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGIXrziSLCQ[B)
She is adorable...and she even made a spaghetti western musical in the 1960s!
-
Now that I have spent my evening getting sucked in by Facebook and HHW, and not getting anything done (as usual), I will go to bed.
-
We suspect there was more sucking on Facebook than here at haineshisway.com.

A question for all of you in the know:
Do you think Brigadoon would do well as a revival on Broadway?
-
Welcome fifteen GUESTS.
-
I don't think Brigadoon would do well - it's not as good as Finian's Rainbow and that couldn't make it.
-
It has some great music.
