Unlike MBarnum, I found Jim Mitchum's performance in No Hotlinking Please to be sadly lacking. But then I'm not a fan of gay porn. :)

Perhaps I will force Gabe to watch 1776. I tried to force both boys to watch OLIVER! years ago and they've refused to come close to a musical ever since. ;)
Safe travel vibes for Betsy and Zach, who will soon be winging their way back home.

DR JMK - Could be it that your boys thought that OLIVER! hit a little too close to home for them?
::)
Happy fourth

You look beautiful, Ginny. But, man, that dress looks warm.
Yesterday I had a thought that maybe it was time that DD Ben and I took off and moved somewhere else... like NY. It was just a thought, but, man, it was a good one - and maybe one to look into.
DR Elmore designed and oversaw the making of all the costumes. My dress was gorgeous, complete with corset and bustle:

I had forgotten how fantastic you looked in that sucker!
...
My life of 60 pounds ago and hair on the top of my head is flashing before my eyes.
I opened up a real can of worms at Ohio Light Opera this morning! Hostile emails have been flying and a Facebook series of posts removed. It's been a fascinating morning!

Ah, but how about the "JOHN & ABIGAIL ADDAMS FAMILY" theme, which I trot out every year for the second year in a row
In the spirit of 1776, hope it's OK to bring out this oldie, which assumes a knowledge of the lyrics to "Yours Yours Yours" from "1776"

I was in college in July of 1776 - our theatre dept ran a month long production of 1776
I was head of makeup dept - my then boyfriend played Caesar Rodney
Then I get another e-mail from someone named Shelly Goldstein, a cabaret performer, who informs everyone on her blast list that she'd producing this evening, and that it's being directed by a fellow who's been in the cabaret world for quite some time. The minute I saw his name I wanted to throw up on the ground. This guy eventually wormed his way into a record label we don't mention around here, completely run it into the ground, and then was let go by the owners. He IMd me years later asking if I could forgive him and I responded saying I'd put the whole thing away and that he didn't need my forgiveness. There are many performers and people in the business who really don't like this fellow. He came to one of our Gardenia shows, saw what we were doing, and - wait for it - he now his HIS own night at another club. He heard about what we were doing with the thirteen-year-old and - wait for it - he's now offering a class to young teens about cabaret performing.
I wrote back the guy from earlier and told him I could not in good conscience support the event, given that this guy is directing, and I told him that I didn't think Michelle would be too happy about it either, since she was very aware of what that whole situation was about and how it affected me. I also asked him why he wouldn't have come to me first, since this is what I do, since I had a VERY close relationship with Michelle dating back to 1990 - we'll see if he answers.
No, Rewind was written before this guy wormed his way in - and Rewind is a work of fiction :)
A few months ago a fellow did a benefit for Michelle Nicastro back in whatever town her college was in. He'd written me several times and I'd sent him a personal remembrance for the program, along with some photos. Apparently it went very well. I got an e-mail from him this morning asking for my help and support (not financial) for an LA version of it to be held at the Catalina Jazz club - that venue seemed mighty strange to me because I think it only seats around 100 or 150 people, tops. He asked for me to either get the word out or give him my contact list.
Love the pictures DR GINNY.
DR ELMORE you Instigator, YOU!
I went passed TCM very quickly and had the misfortune to see some of Mr William Daniels in the worst excuse for a musical ever written....1776.
UGH!
I saw William Daniels onstage in 1776 and was completely captivated.
TOD: When I was a kid, my family went to Germany to visit Mom's side of the family. While we were there, we were in Heidelberg on the Fourth. There was a tremendous fireworks display, largely for the American troops and their families, and it was set off against the backdrop of the castle ruins. It was spectacular. Haven't seen the likes of it sense.

There are far worse musicals, many of which have run longer, too. O! Calcutta! comes to mind. Starlight Express.I went passed TCM very quickly and had the misfortune to see some of Mr William Daniels in the worst excuse for a musical ever written....1776.
UGH!
I cannot believe you think that!
