Well, you've read the notes, the notes were the roadshow version, and now it is time for you to post until the roadshow cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TARE!
-
As promised, the Jason Graae early announcement - if you want a signed copy act quickly. It's 17.98 plus 3.75 shipping (total 21.73) paid via paypal to kritzerland at adelphia dot net.
Kritzerland is pleased to announce its newest release.
JASON GRAAE
PERFECT HERMANY
Recorded live before a full house at the beautiful Colony Theatre in Burbank, Perfect Hermany is the perfect match of performer and song, as two great Js come together – Jason Graae and Jerry Herman. Graae’s show is a delightful, hilarious, poignant, and, above all, tuneful trip down Jerry Herman lane, with songs from Herman classics like Hello, Dolly!, The Grand Tour, Mame, La Cage Aux Folles, Mack and Mabel, and Milk and Honey, along with great stories and patter. Jason Graae has the uncanny ability to have you howling with laughter one minute and the next have you misty-eyed. All that, and he plays the oboe.
“HOW I LOVE JASON GRAAE SINGING MY SONGS” – Jerry Herman
And what songs they are! “I Am What I Am,” “Before The Parade Passes By,” “You’re My Best Girl,” “Tap Your Troubles Away,” “Hello, Dolly” and many others, including several from The Grand Tour, which Jason did at the Colony Theatre (he was Jerry Herman’s personal choice to play the role).
“MR. GRAAE EMERGES AS AN IRRESISTIBLE CUT-UP WHOSE SPLENDID VOICE IS MATCHED BY MISCHIEVOUS CHARISMA!” New York Times
Directed by Lee Tannen, with musical direction by John Boswell, Perfect Hermany is delighting audiences all over the country. The CD puts you in the front row for one of the most entertaining evenings in ages. The CD is produced by Bruce Kimmel and was recorded and mixed by John Adams.
The price of the CD is $17.98, plus shipping.
THE FIRST ONE HUNDRED COPIES ORDERED WILL BE SIGNED BY JASON GRAAE!
Although the official street date is the third week of August, preorders placed directly through Kritzerland usually ship one to five weeks earlier (we’ve been averaging four weeks early). To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.

I shot this on my iPhone right off the TV in the telecine room - it will just give you a brief idea how clean the internegative is and how accurate the color is, although this scene doesn't have much color - and remember it's just an iPhone shooting a monitor. Scroll down to Update Two.

CD has been ordered! This is great!

From yesterday:
Well, I just got a call from my sister's boyfriend, asking if I want to go to the Seattle Storm game tonight...actually, now. My niece, who was going to go, can't. The game doesn't start until 7:00, but there's so much traffic that we would have to leave fairly soon to get through it all. So, I'm off to Seattle.
Have a good day, all!
The Storm won! 99-80. Afterwards, we went to Silver Platters and I bought 13, count 'em, 13 used CDs...all for about $85. And they all look practically brand new. :D
-
Also from yesterday, Michael Shayne wrote this:
TOD
From the film version of The Sound of Music
Because of Julie Andrews' British accent I thought she was sing in My Favorite Things: "When the DOOR bites" I never understood how a door could bite. It wasn't until I read a copy of the stage version did I finally know what she was saying
I thought the EXACT same thing! "When the DOOR bites..." I don't remember how old I was when I learned what the correct word was...long after I got out of college.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morming, all! No more noises from the ghost last night, and I slept quite well. I had a dream involving a musical score, a rehearsal and God alone knows what else, but it's too vague now.
I will head to Toyland very shortly and hopefully finish scanning and sending this Finale. I figure the earlier Iget there, the fewer problems I will encounter. I will check in from there.
I've ordered Jason's CD. It's nice to have a bit of money this week to play with.
-
I believe today may be Jerry Herman's birthday.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I believe the end is in sight on this paper. I can start to do real work again.
-
Greetings from Toyland. Another shitty day. The power is good for the nonce, but now the scanner will not feed the paper correctly. This damned copier has needed a tuneup for over two years.
-
Good morning. Doing some last minute things before my flight this evening.
-
good morning all
-
Will order the JG CD when I figure out which CC my paypal is attached. One was compromised and was cancelled
-
Good morning. Several storms missed us last night.
-
I had always thought it was the studio and not Stanley Krammer who edited the the film of It's A Mad.... during the initial roadshow engagement. He must be one of the few director's whose "director's cut" was really "cut" and not "expanded"!
-
I always open the car door and pop the trunk that way. AT least by doing that it saves me from locking my keys in the trunk. Or at least if i do then the car door is already open.
-
Paper vibes for DR JOHNG
-
The screen cap looks pretty amazing MR BK!
I guess NONE of my Facebook links broke loose any Indiana money. :(
-
No DR JOSE - no flow charts or colored pencils this time - I save those for the annual meeting.
-
New jeans? And new shoes? Whew! Shopping can be dangerous!
AND keys locked in the trunk?
Well.....in actuality....astrologically speaking.....Uranus turned retrograde yesterday (until early September) - so these sort of things are bound to happen....even to we Virgos.
-
Clicking "Play Video" causes IE to crash on my computer.
-
Free for all day......
As Bo Derek once told an interviewer when asked if she ever relaxed or took a break...."Well, some days I go without makeup."
And when Linda Evans was interviewed once and asked: "Are you ever mistaken for Bo Derek?", Miss Evans replied: "Usually on days when I'm not looking my best.....and if someone asks me if I'm Bo, I just say...'yes.'" MEOW!
-
Clicking "Play Video" causes IE to crash on my computer.
Use Safari for Windows.....it has some nice features.
-
I remember It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World being one of those films that played in downtown Indy for a LONG LONG time, maybe at the Circle Theatre.....expensive tickets....but I only saw it on TV....
Sid Caesar is not a favorite of mine......but everyone else was pretty funny....at times....and like MR BK, Ethel Merman made me laugh every time she spoke......the gas station destruction is tedious....
I like Dorothy Provine and Milton Berle, and Dick Shawn....Phil and Terry.... But the obvious stunt work is distracting.
-
BK,
After reading your comments on IT'S A MAD (4) WORLD, I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but:
I think that the destruction of the gas station is one of the funniest sequences in the movie.
I laugh out loud every time I see it.
::)
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm still not sure if I want to head down to the Folklife Festival in an hour or so. Probably not. But things could change.
-
I always open the car door and pop the trunk that way. AT least by doing that it saves me from locking my keys in the trunk. Or at least if i do then the car door is already open.
DR Jennifer - ...But then I wouldn't have had a need to call my brother to come to the rescue.
::)
-
Clicking "Play Video" causes IE to crash on my computer.
Um, that's because you're using IE, DR JMK. ;)
-
OH!
WELCOME TO PAGE TWO!!
-
I specifically mention my love of the gas station routine in my review of IAMMMMW. So there. :)
-
Though I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit I had for a moment misidentified one of the two attendants. I quickly fixed that error.
-
I shot this on my iPhone right off the TV in the telecine room - it will just give you a brief idea how clean the internegative is and how accurate the color is, although this scene doesn't have much color - and remember it's just an iPhone shooting a monitor. Scroll down to Update Two.

And now we sort of know what "TFNM" will look like when we stream it on our iPhones!
;)
-
New jeans? And new shoes? Whew! Shopping can be dangerous!
AND keys locked in the trunk?
Well.....in actuality....astrologically speaking.....Uranus turned retrograde yesterday (until early September) - so these sort of things are bound to happen....even to we Virgos.
DR JRand - Thank you for backing up my mishaps astrologically. :)
-
Curtis emailed me instructions on how to scan by hand and thus bypassing the feeder, which appears to be dead, although he thinks it's static electricity build up. Everything is scanned, the corrected scores printed out for a second edit, and I'm ready to grab a No 7 bus and head back uptown. Thank you, Jesus!
I can work at home tomorrow and come back down to Toyland to await a shipment of paper onTuesday. I can then back to London any second edits I have for him. It's been an hour and no crashes. WTH?
-
I may get fired today. We'll see.
-
I may get fired today. We'll see.
Umm... I'm not sure what kind of VIBES to send for this one. ::)
DR Laura - I hope everything turns out in your favor.
-
I may get fired today. We'll see.
I'm intrigued. I'll have to go see for myself.
-
I ordered Jason's CD and am really looking forward to it.
-
Mad mad World is one of the those movies to have running 40 times a month on cable. You just turn it on and watch 10 minutes of here and there and then turn it off again. Its bits are better than the whole.
-
And the word of the day is: TARE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: CRY
-
Ordered Jason
BK-Did You Get Order
Looks Great
Probably Sounds Great

Uranus retrograde! Sometimes it works in your favor!
-
I may get fired today. We'll see.
If it's done by committee - you have about three years of employment to go.
-
Folklife Festival....will the Brothers Four be there? Or is it just people dressed up like settlers cooking deer meat over an open fire?
-
I LOVE It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World! It is one of those films that I really enjoy watching with other people.
It will be playing at our local Elsinore Theatre in couple of weeks. I had planned to take little Taylor and Ben to see it, but alas, my plans were foiled as I have to work that day because my supervisor is taking the day off. >:(
-
We just had a bit of a tantrum here this morning.
-
Well, I must now decide if I am going to do some productive stuff today, or just sit and watch movies.
Maybe I will watch Mari Blanchard in MACHETE on Netflix Streaming, and THEN do some productive things.
-
We just had a bit of a tantrum here this morning.
You have got to get DR Sandra under control!
-
"I'll just go sit out in the car." Have fun. This is Phoenix. In July.
-
Okey-doke, Folks. Time for me to head in for our first Oklahoma! double-header.
Laters...
-
Break another leg today, Jose!
-
Home again! If I'd known how to scan by hand yesterday, it would have been so much better, but I am grateful for the learning events of this morning. I have a ton of new music to edit as well.
-
Scanning by hand - isn't that what the monks used to do?

Isn't there a Bollywood version that "liberally" borrows the screenplay
-
Thank you for today's notes, BK. Over the years, I have learned to keep my mouth shut whenever the conversation turned to IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD. I just never found the movie that funny. If I remember correctly, my mom, my sister, and I went to see the film at the Cinerama Theater in downtown Seattle. I remember the audience laughing hysterically from start to finish, but for most of the film I just kept wondering what was so funny.
Several years ago, I decided to try watching the film again; figuring my sense of humor may have matured since I was a kid. Wrong! I found it even harder to sit through on the home TV than I had in the theater. Sure, there are some funny moments, and it is great to see all of those stars in one film; but I will pass on ever seeing it again.
-
One more.

Page Three!

From JMK
Jane, new tenants don't move in until mid-August, but they're paying as of July 24, which is kind of nice. We have a lot of stuff to take care over there in the interim.
In spite of the hassle of doing this again it is great you won't be long without renters.
-
DR Jose enjoy your reunion with Karen.
-
DR Matthew I believe DD Ben has gotten used to going out with you & protesting being left behind.
When we leave our dogs we give them a special treat, special depending on the length of time we will be gone, so our going is also a treat. Our parting words are "I'll be back". You can practice this with small treats & leaving for a few minutes while gradually increasing the time.
-
Good morning. Several storms missed us last night.
Sorry.
-
I always open the car door and pop the trunk that way. AT least by doing that it saves me from locking my keys in the trunk. Or at least if i do then the car door is already open.
Good idea. We now have the key-less starter which also pops the trunk. This means the key stays in my pocket or purse so as long as I don't put either in the trunk I'm ok.
-
And when Linda Evans was interviewed once and asked: "Are you ever mistaken for Bo Derek?", Miss Evans replied: "Usually on days when I'm not looking my best.....and if someone asks me if I'm Bo, I just say...'yes.'" MEOW!
Funny.

Whoops! BK, I forgot to put in the comment on my order that it was for John Boswell's new CD. ;D

I had the same reaction only I pretended to laugh. A very large number of the audience were in my graduating class from Jr. High & it was a special evening. I double dated with dinner first. I didn't want to ruin the evening by not laughing.

I never saw Linda when she didn't look her best. A very lovely lady, even in jeans.

DR Laura - I hope everything turns out in your favor.
Exactly.

I may get fired today. We'll see.
:o
I waited to see if there was updated news before responding.
VIBES YOU ARE CONTENT WITH WHATEVER HAPPENS!!!!
-
I loved most of "Mad, Mad ..." when I was a kid, but I haven't seen it since. I will have to give another viewing soon.
-
Not exactly DR TCB....not exactly.
-
I may get fired today. We'll see.
Is it anything to do with the eight holes you dug in the backyard?

Okey-doke, Folks. Time for me to head in for our first Oklahoma! double-header.
Laters...
Break two legs, Jose! (You don't ever do three shows a day do you?)
-
I am off to the meeting - I hope somebody knows where my TV/DVD combo player went - it was in the lobby until one day....it vanished....and also all of our gobos....
-
I'm up - got eight hours of sleep. Looks pretty and hot out, so I have to jog in about a half-hour if I'm to jog.
-
For those asking if orders were received - yes. The coincidence with Mr. Herman's birthday was nice - I actually didn't know.
-
I'll mail out my order tomorrow morning as I go back to week after a week of vacation.
Next week I shall be getting my new glasses. I haven't been to the optometrist in 11 years. Amazingly, my prescription has not changed drastically. I do need new glasses but my astigmatism is gone and my right eye (always the better eye) is stronger. My left eye needs the new prescription. I really like the frames I will be wearing.
It's another hot day in Manhattan. I do have to find time to ride the bike. The apartment is not terribly hot so I should be able to get away with it.
-
DR Ben you got lucky with your eyes. I expect if your vision had been worse you would have gone for an eye check.
-
I'm sorry, but two hours without a post? This will NOT do. Back from the four-mile jog and some people better get off their complacent butt cheeks and get some postin' goin' on. Don't just sit there like so much fish - what's happenin'?
-
Just went on FACEBOOK to post the link to KICKSTARTER. I put it on the Brain From Planet X, Forgotten Musicals & Cast Album Collectors Corner.
So if you are a member of FACEBOOK and you are attached to a group that might be appropriate I suggest you mention a little something about what is happening and the link to kickstarter.
-
Maybe there's a cult movie group?
-
Jason Graae ordered. Paper finished, except for a last read-through. And it might rain. Things are looking up.
-
Page four!
-
Welcome nineteen GUESTS! Why don't one of you get off your complacent ASS and join our merry troupe?
-
Hello, everyone.
Really looking forward to the new Jason Graae CD.
-
DR Cillaliz, I think it's great how much you're doing for your birthday. Sometimes we need to treat ourselves.
-
Free for all day......

I'd like to be quick and clever enough to think of such a remark.
-
I loved IAMMMMW when I saw it as a teen. I suspect I wouldn't find it quite so funny now. It may be a good thing to be able to laugh like a kid when you're an adult.
-
As for matters mundane... my old Sonicare toothbrush conked out last week. It had done so before and I'd always been able to resuscitate it, but this time, no. I must say that I REALLY like the new one I bought. My teeth feel REALLY clean! Wow.
-
Bruce, I'm glad you're so pleased with the TFNM progress.
-
Jose, it's good to hear your OKLAHOMA! stories.

I think mine is nearing the end of its life, too. Or maybe I just need to replace the brush.

Make the guests go away.

:)
-
The GUESTS are very interested in the NYMF Brain From Planet X today.
-
So far I am still employed.
-
I heard on the car radio that we are under a severe storm watch (or warning) this afternoon.

Who would fire a person like Laura?

I wouldn't.

The GUESTS are very interested in the NYMF Brain From Planet X today.
How do you know? maybe they're boning up on SUCH GOOD FRIENDS (Noel's show) or THE LAST STARFIGHTER.
:)
-
Ron Raines just called me to tell me that he'd heard that an old friend of mine, from the Houston Grand Opera BABES IN TOYLAND, whom I saw last week, has been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease. This is most distressing.
I also spent part of my afternoon listenng to the new release of the 1930 version of STRIKE UP THE BAND. My late friend Russell Warner's work is very good, and the recording is such an improvement over the old Roxbury recording of the original 1927 version. I think it's primarily because Bill Brohn's orchestrations on the 1991(?) recording sound nothing like a 1920s show. They're lovely but sound like they were written the day before he began scoring THE SECRET GARDEN, smacking much more of 1990 and 1927.
-
I heard on the car radio that we are under a severe storm watch (or warning) this afternoon.
Did you get fired? Was it because of Vacation Bible School?
-
It's about Vacation Bible School, but I did not get fired. At least not yet.
-
This week our minister is on vacation. The regular guest speakers we have invited were unavailable. So today, the man who runs Crawdad Camp led us in worship. We were at "camp." The chairs were moved into a circle around the (fake) campfire, we sang camp songs, I told a scary children's story, etc. It was fun to do something creative.
-
Ah, the old scary story bit.
-
I am off to the meeting - I hope somebody knows where my TV/DVD combo player went - it was in the lobby until one day....it vanished....and also all of our gobos....
I hate it when my gobos vanish!
-
I'm not sure I'm a fan of Word 2010.
-
I wish I had been able to take a picture of their faces. Their eyes were so BIG and their jaws were dropped.
-
Sunday evening greetings from Historic Boone Tavern in Berea, Kentucky - the Folk Arts & Crafts Capitol of Kentucky! Getting here from Middletown, OH, by way of Lima is definitely the long way around, but we made it. We've settled into our room and will go downstairs for dinner in about half an hour.
-

Vibes for your friend, Elmore.

Laura, I've been called Son of Satan by too many church people for it to mean anything.
-
I've had two friends perish from ALS--a horrible, horrible disease and one that needs to be cured ASAP.

I agree. I wrote about my former co-worker, Rich Brooks, who died earlier this year. And I always think of Michael Zaslow, who was once on "Guiding Light" and they fired him because he had it.
-
Laura, I've been called Son of Satan by too many church people for it to mean anything.
Years ago when I was Music Director on a cruiseline, I was being majorly hassled by a little boy who was literally coming up and pounding on the keyboard whilst his parents sat there and ate lunch, thinking it was so cute. I finally launched into a quote from "Lullaby from 'Rosemary's Baby'", which amused me greatly. As we were disembarking, a frail old lady came up to me and said (and this is NOT a joke): "I haven't heard 'Rosemary's Baby' in years!! I always preferred Claudine Longet's version to Mia Farrow's." I was, as they say, gobsmacked.
-
I'm at my sister's house, waiting for her to get ready so that in an hour, we can meet the rest of the family at a local Chinese buffet restaurant for dinner to celebrate her
boyfried boyfriend Larry's birthday. We'll all come back to her place for dessert. The problem is that she called me just this morning to tell me that this was happening! I had plans for today...laundry and lots of TV watching to do. AND his birthday isn't even until next weekend! Why are we doing this now without any warning??
Oh, well. It'll be fine. :D
-
Gotta go. Have a good day, all. :)
-
The paper is finished and I have sent it off. Many, many thanks to DR Elmore for his information and astute comments.

Ron knew Michael since they were both on GUIDING LIGHT, so he was telling me about hw horrible his death was.
Thank you for the vibes. Last week, on my way back from the dental clinic, I was walking to the post office at 23rd and Third Avenue, I ran smack into my friend who was heading to the hospital for more tests. He told me he would call, but he hasn't yet, I'm sure he's still devastated.

I've had the most delicious dinner, and now I will watch a movie. I've been thinking about LITTLE DORRIT or another Dickens novel, although EMMA amd PRIDE AND PREJUDICE are also calling me.

I agree. I wrote about my former co-worker, Rich Brooks, who died earlier this year. And I always think of Michael Zaslow, who was once on "Guiding Light" and they fired him because he had it.
And then One Life To Live brought him back as the character he created (don't remember the name) and that character had ALS. I believe he worked on the show as long as he was able to. I believe it has been the only TV series to do that

The GUESTS are very interested in the NYMF Brain From Planet X today.
It's possible they are from the Montreal production I linked them to pictures from that production and also mentioned this website.

Found a couple of more pages on FACEBOOK: CULT/FILM/FREAK/RADIO & Lost Highway's B-Movie and Cult Film Reviews
See BK Facebook isn't all that bad.
Now if only people will respond to it.

They did. I couldn't remember the name of the show, but that's because I watched "Guiding Light" as a kid, never "One Life ..." Sad how the mind works in those ways.

I've had the most delicious dinner...
Details, please.
I've been watching for your details, or the end of the story. Was your storytelling today the reason you were almost fired?
-
DR elmore I'm very sorry about your friend.
-
We took a short walk on the hiking trails & then went into town for lunch. A restaurant that suddenly stopped letting Sherlock, out of fear of being cited by the people who say dogs aren't permitted, at the outdoor tables last year let us sit there today. At least the staff working today allowed it, who know what will happen next time.
-
On the way home we stopped at the new pet store. Sherlock's cousin was very happy to see him. She recently lost her Bernese Mountain Dog companion, their 2nd dog in a year to die, & has been rather depressed. It was nice to see her happy.
-
Have started "Secretariat." Loving it. Memories of living in horse country and how beautiful it was. Nice to be able to take time to watch a movie.

Oh, I don't think they'd really fire me. I am just not jumping to be a "team player" to cover for someone else's lack of planning.
-
Then it isn't because of your scary story? Not covering for someone else's mistake is more reasonable ;)
-
Oh, no. My scary story was fine. It was fine for the service we had today.
It's not a mistake; it is a lack of planning.
-
Some things -- say for example, Vacation Bible School -- need to be planned and not thrown together the day before.

Looks like another storm is headed our way. I hope THIS one brings us some rain.

Don't worry about the Kickstarter, BK, I just got a note from the investment broker for Bank H.Kong with a deal worth $15.5 million.

Comfort vibes for elmore's friend

I am off to the meeting - I hope somebody knows where my TV/DVD combo player went - it was in the lobby until one day....it vanished....and also all of our gobos....
I hate it when my gobos vanish!
Considering the price of new Gobos, I would hate it, too.

I did, too. I used to play Claudine's version on my radio program.
-
Since Friday, I've finished staining the garage, gone shopping and found patio rugs seriously on sale, that I got for the basement room and the deck. I've painted the deck (even though the heat index was 103) and got a lot of the furniture back into the basement room. I have a little yard work to do and a lot in the house, but now, if it rains, I don't care, don't make no difference to me....
-
I'm really amazed I got all that done and still feel good.

There was an actress (Dakota would know her name) on DAYS OF OUR LIVES that was stricken with MS. They wrote it in for the character, so she could continue to play the role

Hi TCB (from yesterday)
:)
-
We've had a nice dinner in the dining room that reminded us of Miami University's 1809 Room and we're now crashing for the night. We're too tired and it's too hot for an outdoor performance of AS YOU LIKE IT.
I did AS YOU LIKE IT at the Seattle Center several summers ago. I got the best review I had ever received from a Seattle newspaper. They said, "TCB is an amazing find!" I had only been acting about forty-some years at that point, but I accepted the review gracefully.
-

Actually, thank you, everyone!
I decided to watch the 1979 BBC production of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, which I haven'twatched in about 10 years, with a wonderful screenplay by novelist Fay Weldon. I still prefer the boson-heaving ultra-romantic Colin Firth-Jennifer Ehle version from the 1990s, but I'd forgotten how faithful this one is to Miss Austen, and there are some wonderful and very funny directorial surprises.

Isn't it too warm for all of this activity? How do you feel, besides happy with your accomplishment?

I'm really amazed I got all that done and still feel good.
Well, I guess that answers my questions! Good for you!
-
Oh, and I baked oatmeal cookies.
Now I want a cookie!

You were probably the oldest Rosalind since Dame Edith Evans played the role in the 1920s!
-
Okay, back to P&P.
-
Cillaliz, I quit doing physical stuff, and amazingly my back is feeling better.
My yard is a mess, however.
-
ordering new cd ;D
be back few minutes ;D

Actually I played both Diukes (Marma and what was the otherone's name?).
-
Had a fun rehearsal - the new rehearsal rules are no stopping and she did very well. I had some notes, and the show runs exactly fifty minutes right now, although I suspect it will actually run fifty-five when all is said and done. Still one bit of patter to come. She's very self-assured, our teen is.

I feel fine. It was very hot today, but I did the prep. Came in and showered, drank water made lunch and sat for awhile. Later I went out and painted, when I was done, I took another shower drank more water and went to the grocery store then baked oatmeal cookies, lol. I'm very relieved.
-
We all then went to Nate 'n' Al's, where I had my beloved New York (pastrami with Russian dressing and coleslaw) and we shared kishka. The youngster had never had it and, like Adriana Hofstetter, the minute she tried it she went bonkers for it. She also thought the pastrami was the best she's ever had.
-
Page Seven
-
Well I went to the grocery store because I didn't have raisins, I didn't actually bake the oatmeal cookies until I got home
-
I have decided that I need to get another pair of bifocal cheaters to keep next to the bed. Last night I was reading one of those home product catalogs that will begin to arrive in mass over the next five months. In the linen section, I could have sworn that it said they were selling Self-touch sheets.
Whoops! Soft-touch.
-
I then made her a copy of the Schmidt and Jones song she'll be doing - the decidedly weird but very tuneful and fun Postcards - recorded for Unsung Musicals with Crista Moore doing the vocal. I love the tune, and Tom's lyrics are truly weird.
-
Has anyone tried Simply Lemonade with Raspberry? It is so yummy
-
COOKIES.
Listened to another local band at Bernadette's. Of course had 2 chocolate and raspberry croissants.
Sitting in the sun, it's just plain wonderful. ;)
-
Wow, 7pm, need to get ready for the work week ahead.
Vibes and vibes for everyone.
Will check in later before sleep.
;D

Oh, and I baked oatmeal cookies.
Now I want a cookie!
Me too.

I am working tomorrow and Tuesday. Then other than one hearing on Thursday morning, I'm taking the rest of the week off. I plan to clean the house from top to bottom, go through my clothes and give a bunch of them to goodwill. In part I'm doing it for the party, but more than that, I'm going to start my 50th year in a clean organized house. It's my gift to myself.

I've been thinking of oatmeal cookies since Skip posted photos of some on Facebook a couple days ago. I told my mom I was thinking about making them and she said "Oh, I just baked some yesterday". I gave in and made them

Cilla, I wish you would come over and clean my house. I haven't been able to do anything in so many weeks, it is horrible. When the sun was shining in today and I saw all that dust; I felt like Miss Havisham!
-
G'night!
-
I blame the haboob.
-
TCB, I wish I could too.
Actually, I'm a horrible housekeeper. I paint the garage, but I don't dust. So, really cleaning the house is a real gift to myself. I have decided once I get it really cleaned, I'm going to look into someone coming in once a month to clean.
-
Cillaliz, I began quite a frenzy after finding those episodes of "Hoarders" on the computer. I got rid of a lot of stuff, but then my back was hurting too much to continue.
-
I blame the haboob.
I'm sure Jose was responsible for that too ;)
-

I watched three or four episodes of Hoarders this weekend, lol.
-
Now I'm watching the interview of Jaycee Dugard. Interesting.
-
I will say my feet and my legs hurt. My shoulder has hurt off and on, but working every other day has really helped...that and Aleve

I love that song, especially the mention of them as "postal cards."
-
Cillaliz, I think you should share the cookies. You've got us all hungry now.
-
Come on over and get one!
-
I am so tired
-
One of my firends is insisting that we have drinks with friends on Tuesday since that's my birthday. I finally emailed her and said no. I mean seriously I don't see the point when I'm having a party on saturday. She's invited. She just has this thing in her head that it's "the day" so I have to celebrate with drinks. That's her thing not mine.
I really don't want to do anything special that day. I want to do whatever I want to do. I may go to a movie, I may go to dinner, I may do a lot of things, but I don't want to be expected to be anywhere. That sounds like a wonderful day to me.
-
DR Laura, I hate it when people don't plan for the obvious
-
And then they expect you to do it.
-
Do what you want on your birthday, Cillaliz.
-
Just got the fourth season of "Mad Men" and one of the movies that is playing in the theater during an episode is, you guessed it, "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World."
-
Do what you want on your birthday, Cillaliz.
Amen to that.
-
Night, all.
-
yesterday the Vixter and I spent most of the day on the decluttering the basement project - we carried out 3 old pressboard bookcases and donated a set of 1927 books to a local village museum
dropped off several bags of clothes and things to the Salvation Army and scrubbed the basement walls and did lots of laundry
and built 2 new wire shelve book cases
-
today I was supposed to act as assisting minister at the 8:30 service and then go home ....
-
Do what you want on your birthday, Cillaliz.
I intend to. That's why I sent the email and said no. It felt good
-
Yeah Vixmom!
-
I arrived at 8 Am and prepped for service and then we discovered that there was no one signed up for second coffee hour (after the 10:15 service ends at 11;15 - 11:45 - so the vixter and I ended up staying and running that and cleaning up afterwards
-
First vacation Bible school and now coffee service...what is happening to planning ahead?
-
then the Vixter had a meeting and had to set up for vacation bible school (she is one of the counselors) so by time we got home at was 12;30
-
First vacation Bible school and now coffee service...what is happening to planning ahead?
oh it was planned - just nobody is signing up = it is the same few people doing it week after week - everyone likes drinking the coffee and eating the pasty no one wants to be responsible for setting up serving and cleaning up
-
I was really strong arming people today I filled their cup and then held it while I discussed all the upcoming opportunities for them to serve at coffee hour --- I did get a few signups - I also noticed that several folks who ALWAYS come back for seconds and thirds were very satisfied with one cup today....
-
then when I finally got home I had to smash up those old book cases so that the garbage men will take them away I managed to quite badly smash my lower right shin bone with a flying piece of bookcase - nice gash with a lovely purple and yellow bruise which is spreading very nicely --
-
Vibes to Vixmom!
-
then I went on a wild goose chase to three different Target stores trying to get more bookcases
-
went grovery shopping
-
came home showered and got dressed so we could go collect my folks and meet my brother and his wife at a chinese restaurant to celebrate my mother's birthday (which is tomorrow)
-
Vixdad and I shared our meals - beef & scallops and sesame chicken and pork fried rice
it was delicious
-
them back to brother & wifes' abode for icecream cake and coffee
-
and finally home ---
-
still catching up on laundry
-
and if any one wants to know why I have not been posting ---- now you know!
-
The unplanned Vacation Bible School was in response to my earlier angst, Vixmom.

Good for you for getting people to sign up to help, Vixmom.

I meant the coffee hour was not unplanned --- just unmanned!!

Good for you for getting people to sign up to help, Vixmom.
I'll probably get spoken to about making people feel uncomfortable.....
-
Yeah, they'll fire you like they'll fire me.
-
That'll never happen.
-
I am impressed by your ability to say "NO" Laura
you know that sign
''A Lack of Planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part"?
well somehow a lack of planning on other people's parts almost ALWAYS constitutes an emergency for me
-
Yeah, they'll fire you like they'll fire me.
they can't fire me --- I'm a volunteer!
-
I was so irritated today. Sandra took me out for a good comfort food meal, which I needed, I guess.
-
so who had the tantrum? lady lackbrain?

yeah last night I got Vixdad to take us to IHOP so I could have baked potato soup and a pot roast sandwich

No. That was another issue entirely. Everyone else seemed to have fun.

Having a daughter is very nice.

here is a lovely poster for your bulletin board

No. That was another issue entirely. Everyone else seemed to have fun.
was your scary camp story Bible related?

No. It fit the campfire theme. But of course, God always takes care of us.

That's a great poster. Thanks for the laugh. :)

I'm at my sister's house, waiting for her to get ready so that in an hour, we can meet the rest of the family at a local Chinese buffet restaurant for dinner to celebrate her boyfried boyfriend Larry's birthday.
Well, I was wrong...Larry's birthday is today. ::) HOWEVER, in my defense, my sister never told me that anything was happening today. I had no clew. It was fun, though. We had a Chinese dinner buffet that wasn't bad, then we went to my sister's and played Scrabble (I came in fifth place...out of five). My sister made a vegan chocolate lush (http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1613,145185-231198,00.html) and it was not good. The nut crust wasn't bad, and the tofu-chocolate pudding substance was okay, but the vegan "cream cheese" stuff made with cashews, lemon juice and some other ingredients was quite icky, and everyone agreed that it was icky. :P There were some dessert choices at the Chinese buffet, so that made up for the icky vegan cashew "cream cheese" stuff.
-
I got nothing done today, but my dvd/vhs combo recorder has some kind of error code and won't work...and I have a ton of Wagon Train episodes I need to burn onto DVD. Dagnabit.
Evidently dvd/vhs combo recorders must be a rare breed now, new machines cost like $300 for the cheapest ones!
-
We did have some Kickstarter action today and we've gone up to 58%. So, another 42% and we're home. I sent out my final eBlast just now and hopefully those who've been waiting till the last minute will now kick in to Kickstarter.

DR TCB, I am so sorry to hear about your back. Have you been to a chiropractor? Or is this something that a chiropractor can't help?
My chiropractor hooked me up to all sorts of electronical machines, and after a few weeks my back felt good again.
-
TCB, I wish I could too.
Actually, I'm a horrible housekeeper. I paint the garage, but I don't dust. So, really cleaning the house is a real gift to myself. I have decided once I get it really cleaned, I'm going to look into someone coming in once a month to clean.

If they wanted, volunteers can be fired. You just have to REALLY screw up.
;)

Good Evening!
Well...
In short...

It was a two-show day.
Both shows went very well, but the audience for our evening show was quite wonderful. It was a wonderful way to end the week - a very long week.
-
After the show, there was an "Okla-Homo" event at one of the "special interest establishments" in town. I hadn't planned to go, but since some of the cast members wanted a ride to said "special interest establishment", well...
I had a blast!
Karaoke.
Drink tickets.
Lots of cast-musical staff bonding.
And I even ran into someone from my community theatre days - almost 25 years ago.
-
And then I went to my favorite 24-hour diner, Bob & Edith's, for some post-karaoke pancakes and scrapple. YUM! :)
-
And now...
I will attempt to catch up on today's posts! Looks like there were a lot of 'em!

Scanning by hand - isn't that what the monks used to do?
Sounds more like some sort of euphemism to me. ::)
