Well, you've read the notes, the notes rumbled and moved like a jet, and now it is time for you to post until the rumbling cows come home.

Good morning, all! I slept later than I wished since i would like to have finished the laundry earlier than I will. Thank God it's only a block walk. I also slept well last night and that's a bonus.

Once the laundry is begun, I have to tidy the apartment, vacuum and mop. Following that, the day is my own. I'm staying inside, working on personal projects or watching DVDs. I have two free days before we have the week to finish up EILEEN for shipment to Dublin. I think we're in good shape, though. And right on schedule.

DR John G, Danny Troob is doing the orchestrations for the new stage version of ALADDIN that just opened in Seattle. What the world needs: another "cartoon" musical to open on the Manhattan theme park that was once called Broadway. I'm sure it will sound fantastic, but you know my personal thoughts about the orchestrator, and I admit that I am really sick of Disney muscals. The only redeeming thng about this one is that it's directed by Casey Nicolaw, and I think he's wonderful.

To the laundromat.

BK - I know you've had some bad experience with seating at the Eclectic Cafe, but glad you're giving them another chance - it was one of my favorite dining experiences in my brief L.A. trip years back, even though I can't recall what specific dishes we had.

Hoped to have gone there more than once, but the group of friends I was with really wanted to sample different places rather than repeat, and one of my friends was doing the driving, so I didn't get to go back to Eclectic Cafe a second time that trip..

I had planned to give my sister a break this weekend by dog sitting my nephew's family's dog, Pepper. When last I saw Pepper a few months back he was a mellow, easy going pup who barely bothered to so much as get up and walk to the other side of a room...but now, at about 7 months old, he is quite a bit more...active.

So, since I don't want to get evicted, I chose not to dog sit!

...but I did take Pepper for a very long walk and then played fetch with him for what seemed like hours...that dog just never tired out!

He is sort of a lab/pointer mix, from the looks of him...and despite being named Pepper, he is not black, but rather reddish and blondish mixed colors...but the kids named him.

And while I was at breakfast, I noticed something kind of strange(?) at the table next to me: The family had brought their own milk! The adults split a half gallon of 2%, and the kids each had their own pint of chocolate milk. -I guess that's one way to save money while dining out.

I'm up after eight and a half hours of sleep.  Not quite what I'd hoped for but better than less than eight.  Now, here is the interesting thing.  I got into bed.  Each night before going to sleep I play a couple of silly solitaire games on the iPad.  I've been doing this for about a year now.  Well, guess what?  As I was playing, the Jacuzzi jets turned on again and would not turn off.  I went outside and did the breaker thing and it was fine again, but I'm now thinking something in that game or in the iPad itself is triggering something in the Jacuzzi?  I know it sounds weird but for this to happen twice while I'm using that device can't be coincidence, can it?  I don't really want to try it again, but can any of our technical whizzes tell me if that's possible.  It's never happened before, but this is now twice in a row.

I, too, am having problems sleeping. A neighbor of mine and I both complained to the manager about the young couple next to me (and above him). They've been quieter since the manager spoke to them, but last night they had guests again and didn't quiet down until after midnight. Normally, I wouldn't mind, but the neighbor on the other side gets up early and his rattling around wakes me up. I think the "youngsters" would be happier in a building with lots of students. There are plenty of them around here. Some days, like today, I'm so tired I can barely function. Some people say that as you get older you need less sleep. Hasn't happened to me! I NEED sleep!

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz to our DRs who, like me, are sleep-deprived.

They said it's not an unusual reaction to the anesthetic. Since it's a shelter, I'm sure it is the cheapest available that is not used in private practice. They said it's usually better after one day, but should be better by tomorrow. Good heavens, I hope so!

Listening to "Perfect Hermany" and just heard "Marianne." I had to stop what I was doing. What a gorgeous song. I remember Barbara Cook's version, too. I think it's my favorite Herman song.

.

One of my co-workers went to see ALADDIN.  She said that the Genie was hysterical and almost managed to save the show.  She said that the show spent too much time focused on Jafar and that he was boring, boring, boring.  She said that Aladdin and Jasmine were okay, but that they really lacked any chemisty.

Andrew Jacobs as Aladdin.

Why are blu-rays called BDs?  Or should I wait until Wednesday to ask?

George, yes, DVDs are only 20% off.  I imagine it's because they're overstocked on BDs and want to clear those out.  Which they pretty much did at "my" store after I visited last night.  ;)

About two hours ago, I was sitting on my bed changing out of lounge pants and into my jeans.  I got myself to a standing position so that I could buckle my belt.  I started to fall forward, and I wasn't sure that I was close enough to stop myself against the wall without falling flat on my face.  Well, I caught myself on the wall, but I guess I clenched all the muscles in my hip area as I was falling.

I suddenly got this horrible burning pain in my loins and my rear end.  It was as if someone had lit my body on fire.  It hurt so bad, that I literally screamed out in pain.  I immediately took my pain pills ( a little early), and after an hour with no relief, I took a third pain pill.  Now the pain is, at least,  tolerable, but I have no idea what I have done to myself now.

Rehearsal was great.  I've seen a lot of cabaret performers - most work too hard, most do acts that are ill-conceived and not well thought out, at least in my opinion.  This little thirteen-year-old knows how to take the stage, has gotten better and better with connecting each piece of the show, has her patter down but never seems like she's reciting, and makes each song fresh and interesting.  Her poise is amazing.  Today was the best she's been.  I had only a half-page of notes, and I know that when we run again, those notes will not longer be an issue.

I then went to the Eclectic Cafe and had my cajun chicken Caesar salad.  It was very good, but so lightly dressed I could barely even taste the dressing, so I had them bring me a little more on the side, and I used a little of that.

Cilla Panko is better than bread crumbs, IMHO.  I think you will be pleased with it.

Thanks Jane.  I keep hearing raves about it on different Food TV shows, so I'm looking forward to trying it

Craig made delicious vegan soy/seaweed patties dipped in seasoned Panko & then fried.  It might sound awful but they are truly delicious.  The Panko makes them nice & crunchy.

It is quite a good movie.

I've written most of the commentary - two songs to go.  It's a little long - on a par with a couple of others.  Mostly they run four to five and a half pages and this one seems like it's going to be a full five.  So, I may cut a couple of stories, although I really like them.  The story of Evening Star is the longest, so I may try to cut it down a little.

Amy Winehouse is dead.  Sadly, no surprise.

I read about that when I got up this morning.  She's ANOTHER performer who died at age 27 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/27_Club):  Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Heath Ledger (okay, he was 28...but still).

Very sad.

Finished writing the commentary - it's the same length as the Kander and Ebb, but I'll probably shorten a teeny bit.  Proofed the booklet - it's really good I got all this done because there would have been no time to deal with it next week.  Not that fun a way to spend a Saturday evening.  In addition to my early dinner I also had some soup and a pudding cup.
