Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no extraneous words except the word extraneous, and now it is time for you to post until the extraneous cows come home.

Now be truthful......

Has anyone ever seen Ishtar and Town & Country? They were two of his biggest flops. Although the latter was probably bigger. Costing 90 mil to produce and taking in only 6.7.

Good morning, all! I slept very well and I'm glad I did because I have a busy day today.

I've looked at all the chairs in my apartment; no glass beside any of them, DR JRand60! This is one of the weirdest experiences i've ever had. What I'm hoping is that in a fit of mental distraction I took it down to the basement with the trash and tossed it by accident. I'm coming to the conclusion that it is not in this apartment any longer.  Last night, when I was talking on the telephone to Mr Ron Raines, I heard what sounded like the fall of a bundle of papers, but a check of the apartment revealed nothing out of the usual order. So, I think the apartment ghost is becoming aggressive.

Yesterday Toyland was a day from hell; the printer and copier are both in severe need ot maintenance and the lack of such has made the library work for EILEEN a real ordeal. We sent a ton of card stock to Kinko's to be cut to the size of 9.5 x 12.5 for band parts, and the asses cutting it sent back a large portion of the paper poorly trimmed so that one side of the paper was 12.5 and the other side a little longer than 12 inches and a quarter; this poor trim caused us to dump a ton of printed parts. If the machinery continues to be difficult, I have no idea if we'll meet our deadline.

This morning, I have a date at 9 am with the post office, a trip to the pharmacy, and then a trek to Toyland where I'll proof the final number. This afternoon, I have a meeting with the Medicare rep for my HMO to get this shebang off the ground since I do not understand any of the Medicare forms I'm receiving in an avalanche of unwanted mail.

And I have seen Ishtar. Back when it came out on video, so that's, what, about 25 years ago? I enjoyed it then for its silliness, but I was glad not to have paid full price for seeing it in a theater. Haven't felt the need to see it again, unlike "McCabe," which I watch on average about once a year.

Jose, now that you've played through the Oklahoma! score a few times, are there any moments that have proved enlightening to you or that you appreciate better now?

I have to confess that Oklahoma! was one of the R&H musicals that I was least familiar with. In fact, I believe the only time I had ever seen it on stage was 20+ years ago - and that was a good community theatre production in Alexandria, VA. I had read all about it's historical significance, but had never really studied it nor given it a close listen. I mainly knew it from seeing bits and pieces of the movie over the years, and playing so many of the songs in auditions. Big confession: I don't even have a cast recording. So...

What's continually amazed me about the score over the past couple of weeks is the chromaticism in the accompaniments under the very non-chromatic melodies. In the rehearsal room, I found myself paying more attention to what my fingers were doing than I thought I would. It's also been fun wondering which passing tones, counter melodies and flourishes were the work of Richard Rodgers or Robert Russell Bennett.

I'm also still "deciphering" some of the dialect that Hammerstein wrote into the lyrics. There are lots of "nen's".

Today's exciting Terry Baxter plays Bacharach post:

Terry's version of "Promises, Promises" features the most appallingly out of tune string section I think I've ever heard.  I can't believe they waxed this take.

On the other hand, the compilation is littered with odd little gems from the B-D canon you don't usually hear, like "Walk Little Dolly" and "Try to See it My Way."  I find this somewhat odd as the album must have come out in the early 1970's and some of Dionne's last B-D hits like "Paper Mache" aren't in here.

Today is one of those rare days where the Websense software isn't working, and I'm able to log in from work. I wonder how often this happens. I should try it more often. Maybe it's not all that rare after all.

I'm also wondering if a chicken salad sandwich with American cheese and bacon is really lower in fat and calories than a chili cheese dog. Mayonaisse has a lot of fat and calories, as does cheese and bacon.

TOD:
I haven't seen many Warren Beatty films. I can only think of two: "Shampoo" and "Reds." For a long time, "Reds" was my favorite film of all time. Even though it was very long, and included an intermission, I saw it in the theater TWICE. I saw "Shampoo" on television, decades after it first came out. It was cute, but seemed very dated by then.

Oh, holy cow, I completely forgot about "Heaven Can Wait" and "Dick Tracy". How embarrassing. I saw both of those in the theater too, and I really don't see a lot of movies in the theater 'cause it's so darned expensive. I liked "Heaven Can Wait" very much, but was disappointed with "Dick Tracy". I was especially disappointed with Danny Elfman's score - it just didn't have his usual distinctive style.

So, it appears that things are finally coming together on the NY shoot, so I guess I'd better book the trip.  Adam has done his choreography, and my cast is almost complete for the two episodes.  I'm talking to a cameraman tonight.

Oh, holy cow, I completely forgot about "Heaven Can Wait" and "Dick Tracy".

My two picks.  I thought Heaven was an excellent remake of a movie I always enjoyed.

I thought Medicare was free. Well, that really messes up my retirement plans.

I sure hope we get socialized medicine before I retire.

I hope you get your mind in working order before you retire. Have you spoken to your employers about your situation with health care when you retire?

Is it on the bookshelf? I put lots of stuff on the bookshelf.

My apartment is mostly bookshelves!

I am now enrolled in Medicare. The lady who signed me up was a beautiful lady named Christine Johnson. My health insurance has now dropped from $864/month to $152.

That's great!  Does it include both Medicare & a supplement insurance?

I am fully covered.

Hmmmm....looking at Mr. Beatty's credits I see that I have never seen a Warren Beatty film. I have, however, seen him in the TV series THE MANY LOVES OF DOBIE GILLIS and an episode of ONE STEP BEYOND.

But, out of those I still have no favorite.

Mike, trust me.  Rent HEAVEN CAN WAIT.  It is a wonderful and very funny film.

DR elmore - Is it possible you never had that glass of water in the first place? ;)

It was soda, and I think DR JRand60 is possibly right about its being on the floor. I just cannot find it. And, yes, I had it. I know how many glasses I have had.

Perhaps Cilla's watch is on your floor somewhere, and your glass is in her second bathroom?

You have a date! When I as waiting back in 2004 tp see a surgeon, one of the kind receptionists said, when I complained about how far away my appointment was, "call occasionally and see if we've had anything open up from cancellations." I think that actually got me in earlier than scheduled.

I watched the first hour of a long motion picture on Blu and Ray.  Then I sent out many mp3s, videos, and scripts, all to do with the new web series.  We're almost fully cast for the NY shoot now, just waiting to hear about one actress.  But so far it's Beth Leavel, Brad Oscar, Barry Pearl and Sandy Rosenberg.
