Well, you've read the notes, the notes wailed and were august, and now it is time for you to post until the wailing cows come home.

Good morning, all! I've been dealing with email tsuris this morning for the past two hours: completing the email to the head of the Institute, dealing with a chorus sending unauthorized pdf files of my choral arrangements, and sending my end-of-the-month invoice.

Today, I have little planned except for dinner tonight with my friend Bruce Pomahac, but I have personal work here. My apartment is a total disaster at the moment, and I think that will occupy most of my day. I will call my beloved goddaughter Charlotte about a movie tomorrow or over the weekend.

DR GEORGE you must have been reading my mind when I wrote my post yesterday....it is sort of a funeral.  I do not like being in this production.....I have only about 12 lines.....nothing really funny.....and I am only there because the director asked me to do it.

He has THREE other people in the show that were in CAMELOT, so I could have been offered one of those funnier roles, especially since two of them are definitely NOT comic in any way.

And an especially annoying person joined the crew last night - one I hoped I had escaped.....oh well.  Two more weeks after this week and the funeral....I mean show....will be OVER.....as will the season.

I am paying $65 a week in gasoline to drive to the theatre for NOTHING.
Title: Re: THE WAILS OF AUGUST
Post by: Jrand73 on August 31, 2011, 07:29:13 AM
And it doesn't help that the director is completely wrong-headed.  I stopped making suggestions.....his reasons for not accepting them are as dumb as his reasons for doing things the way he is....so I give up.

It IS a funny play.....but it could be hilarious.....it was the LAST TIME we did it, when I had a bigger part.  I don't even get me started on the "improvements" he has made in the script.

DR Jane, I was shocked but my mom did not know who Nancy Grace was either.  She has a show on HLN (thanks to DR RonP) and if you watch CNN maybe you would have seen her. She is on the View sometimes. She talks about legal cases and is very vocal.

When you say who these people are they I know them all. One name i did not know was Hope Solo. But if you tell me that she is the goalie for the US team then I know her.  And if you say Elisabetta is George Clooney's former girlfriend then i know her too.

There are a few pairings i find very odd/surprising. Ricki Lake and Derek Hough are one. And Rob Kardashian and Cheryl is another.

I prefer when the pros i like are paired with celebs i like.

So far the pairing i like best is Mark and Kristin. But it totally depends on how everyone dances.

I"m mad that they added 2 new male pros and Dmitry is out this season.

My niece started grade one today. She is has her best friend from kindgarten in her class. And 2 other girls she was friendly with from her class. Plus one of her soccer friends. And she supposedly has the best teacher (there are 5 classes for grade 1).

It is very complicated for them to put the 5 kindergarten classes and make them into 5 new grade one classes.  Usually each class gets 2 girls and 2 boys from their kindergarten class. But 2 of my nieces other best friends both got no girls from their previous class. And one of the moms was quite upset about it.

I don't blame her. My niece's class had 4 girls from kindergarten. And these 2 girls get nobody. They were friends. Why not put them in the same class?

Nancy Grace is on HLN, part of CNN (it's a Legal News and Views sub-channel).

She's a former judge.

She's "out there" most of the time.  IMO, of course.

Did the four-mile jog right at eight.  Answering e-mails and not happy with the slowness of this here site right now and if it continues for another five minutes, time to write a note.  Actually, I think it's really time to completely redesign the site and upgrade the board and host elsewhere.

And because everyone is now up to speed, as it were, on their various tracks (and variations thereof), they did not schedule an understudy rehearsal for today. -This is my first free Wednesday in over a month. -Which is also why I let myself sleep in until Noon.

A crazy planet full of crazy people,
Is somersaulting all around the sky.
And everytime it turns another somersault,
Another day goes by.
And there's no way to stop it,
No, there's no way to stop it.
No, you can't stop it even if you tried.
So, I'm not going to worry,
No, I'm not going to worry,

Well, Parade is almost cast.  It was a great night at callbacks and I'm happy with what we have.

First day back at school.  It's like we never left, except the kids are in different grades.  It was a great day.

DD Ben and I will head to my Nunsense (with a Twist) rehearsal this eve for a run-through.  Pray for Rosemary's baby as the director doesn't really "get" the material and doesn't play it for what it is, in fact - at our first meeting he actually said "This show is really stupid, but we'll make it work".  I almost died.  The "twist" is that one of the nuns is a guy (Shhhh.... it's suppose to be on the DL) Whatever...

ASK BK:

Two Kritzerland questions.

1)  How come Jeepers Creepers is no longer part of the Kritzerland's catalogue.?
2) I noticed that the Kritzerlnd news is from 2010. Do you plan to update it?

Jeeper's was never really part of our catalog and at some point I may, in fact, repress it and sell.

Yes, I'll be updating the news section regularly starting in September.

Had a nice lunch meeting that eventually could yield some interesting projects for Kritzerland.  Then I went to my engineer's and we finessed the mix of Melodyland - it sounds wonderful now - I made some little cuts and I'm pleased with it.  Melody has to now come in and add one short line of patter that she forgot (it's an important joke set-up) and fix a lyric she got wrong - just two lines.

I had a nice hike with my group this morning followed by a stop at a coffee house.  I had my usual hot chocolate.

Two of the gentlemen in my group are part of a Marching Band, in 6/8 time.  They have been asked to march in the, first time ever, Ashland Gay Parade and are wondering what would be appropriated.  Any suggestions?  I told them I could get loads of ideas for them.

I'm glad it worked out well for your niece.

I'm happy too. But i feel bad for the other girls.

Can never resist a parody lyric for a DANCING WITH THE STARS cast announcement :)  (update on the one I put in the Times comment box)

tune of GYPSIES TRAMPS AND THIEVES

He was born to the stars of a CBS show
His Mama used to set stage and screen all aglow
Papa was in Congress, did best that he could
Now Chaz is in the spotlight
He will be a winner even if he’s not good

Stiff knees, cramps and heaves
They’ll get ‘em while they’re dancin’ in the fall
They’re knowin’
Each week someone leaves
That’s when they wait for the audience to call
All for a mirror ball

Up against stars like David Arquette
Also Ricki Lake, that’d sure make me sweat
Even two pros from the world of sports
Nancy Grace gets hostile
Wouldn’t mess with her if she gets out of sorts

Stiff knees, cramps and heaves
Hey, look there's Carson Kressley in the hall
And Chynna
Each week someone leaves
That’s when they wait for the audience to call
All for a mirror ball
;D

I would watch Maria Bello in almost anything, but as Jane Tennyson? Even an American one? As long as they're not too slavish to the original, it should be OK. As spectacular as Mirren was, the writing was as much of a star as she was.

AARRGGHH!!  I feel your pain.  I did a show where one of the actors decided to "improve" Joyce Carol Oates!  How do you "improve" Joyce Carol Oates??

Tonight, someone happened to blow their nose right after the kiss. <HONK>  -Needless to say, a case of the giggles quickly made its way around the pit. -I'm waiting for our first school matinee in September later this morning. I'm sure the reactions will be quite audible.
