Title: I BELIEVE IN TRUE

Well, you've read the notes, the notes had truth, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they believe in MOO as well as TRUE.

We are driving a car with 3 wheels off the cliff and the fourth wheel is barely still on the ground.

I expect sometime in the next two weeks we will go over the cliff.

Attempted to watch the "uncut" version of the Boy Friend. Time has not been kind to this movie for me. My god a little too much of everything. I made it to the intermission and that was it.

Twiggy was very good in her film debut.
Although this was Tommy Tunes's 2nd film I almost didn't recognize him. He looked incredible younger than he did in Dolly. Is it possible than his speaking voice was dubbed? Doesn't he normally have a Texan twang to it?

I believe I only head over to Theatermania's site because of Peter Filichia column. Hopefully one of the other sites will pick him up.

Then he could have ended with a cliffhanger.

A braintreaser that we would never know the answer to. :-)

I loved Book of Mormon but this episode of South Park (written by the same people who created Book of Mormon, including Robert Lopez) is awful, in my humble opinion. It's vulgar, stupid, mean and worst of all, NOT FUNNY. Mormon, while vulgar and rude, has a heart the size of Broadway. This is just appalling.

Good morning, all! I'm listening to the wonderful French actress Suzy Delair sing Offenbach and other operetta songs. After seeing her in GERVAISE last week, I putchased three of her CDs.

Today, I have more writing for Appalachia: a new finish to the "Cherry Tree Carol,"which I finished last night and now have second thoughts, new chorus parts for "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree," and I think that's all I can do before rehearsals begin. It's silly to arrange "Go Where I Send Thee" until I know what the chpregrapher wants to do with it, and I don't know yet what will becoem of the "Old Maid's Lament."

I have a few errands to run as well, and that's my day.

DR vixmom, I'm sorry to hear about your broken tooth. Are you seeing a dentist today?

TOD:
DVD: Larkrise to Candleford, tooo many others
CD: Suzy Delair, Guy Haines, Gilbert & Sullivan

Methinks Betsy and I are going to refinance the new house with this new ING Direct Easy Orange product where (I'm not kidding) interest is only 2.75% for 5 years and you can prepay as much as you want.  At the end of 5 years you either have a balloon or can refinance (with more closing costs, tied to what your bi-weekly mortgage payment is).  With the amount we'll overpay and with that interest rate, we'll have this house mostly paid off in 5 years, at least that's my hope.  But I hate having to collect all the paperwork to jump through the refinancing hoops.

DR Vixter, sorry to hear about your bite. I actually was thinking while reading it that i couldn't believe you were going to stick your hand in there and not just dump it out.

I actually don't really like squirrels. But I was traumatized over the summer by maybe killing one.

I was driving. And unfortunately my sister and niece were driving behind me.  The strangest thing happened. I've never seen anything like it. Two squirrels were playing and they literally jumped into the middle of the street.

There are lots of squirrels here. And they usually ran across the street. But these 2 squirrels were on the side. And in one jump they somehow were right in front of the car.

I wasn't really sure what to do. Do i try to stop (then my sister might go into me).

If there hadn't been anyone behind me i might have tried to stop. But i actually thought that if i just went straight that the squirrel would be in the middle and not get hurt. But unfortunately it seemed partially hurt.

I don't know what squirrel protocol is (do you call someone?).

Anyways the worst part was that my niece saw it. She was upset, as was i. She told me "just don't think about it". I actually could not stop thinking about it for many weeks. :(

DR MichaelS:  Tune was not dubbed in "The Boy Friend".  The twang appears when he's really excited, but he sounds exactly like himself in "The Boy Friend"...to me, at any rate.

I love all the over-the-top business in the original version of "The Boy Friend."   I could watch this movie weekly.

Got an email from Peter Filichia about the demise of his column. For those who are disappointed that theatermania.com has dropped his column and want to voice their displease, he suggested the following:

(Write) to editorial@theatermania.com
Then, notice at the very top of the front page, there’s a tiny blue banner that says “Click here to check out the NEW Theatermania.com BETA.” Once you do, you’ll see an orange bar at the lower right hand corner of the screen that says “Feedback.” If you’d put your message there, too, I’d be grateful.

So, that's that.

I know that after Ken Mandelbaum's column disappeared from Broadway.com, it was not worth checking out that site, and I think theatermania.com will be much the worse without Filichia's. Regardless of what your opinions of his opinions are, he is sparking discussion. And that's good.

What your niece said was very sweet though I know not possible to do.  Squirrels aren't all that bright so I'm surprised you expected them to move, not that you really could have done anything different.

I have had squirrels go under my car unharmed.  You really never know which way they will run.

The "struggling actor" who's a recently released from jail family murderer, himself a horrible burn victim and now dying from brain cancer (hence his release from jail) has had some hysterically funny bits, as strange as that may sound.  He's stalking series star Dylan McDermott and I LOL'd during last week's episode when he starts jogging next to McDermott with a script in his hand, begging McDermott to run lines with him.  "Here, I'll read Oscar," he says, referring one assumes to The Odd Couple.  It was funny.  To me, anyway.  :)

I have watched (sort of) each episode, but I'm having a great deal of difficulty in finding it worthy of my time.   I fast-forward through lots of bits...don't care about the maid...don't care about the mistress....don't care for Lange's treatment of her daughter (although that may/may not be done with).  I'm tired of the recriminations the wife throws at the husband about his affair.  He cannot undo it.  Just LEAVE him if you can't get over it.  Love the real estate agent.  Am aghast at the "fluffers".  Don't know what to make of any of it unless they're all in or going to hell.

I've been watching a streaming version of the 1937 film "Sh! The Octupus" which the Warner Bros Archive has just made available to view until midnight today. I've never heard of the film before but apparently it's been on TCM.

I watched it.

I am gobsmacked again department:  just like when we bought this house, ING prequalified us and approved the loan without me needing to provide any of my self-employment income, which is much (as in MUCH) larger than my W2 salary income.

That was fast!  Congrats!

Well, we're "approved" pending approval, if you know what I mean.  I just emailed them all the tax stuff, W2s, pay stubs, insurance, blah, blah, blah, and we need the appraisal, but I'm expecting everything to go OK.
Yippee.

Is anyone else watching AN AMERICAN HORROR STORY?  I must say, I'm beginning to enjoy its wacky melange of horror and just kind of out there comedy.  Plus Jessica Lange is a dead ringer for 1960s era Frances Farmer in this.

This is one of the shows that I wanted to watch, but never got around to watching...maybe I'll pick it up on OnDemand (if it's available) or on-line.

I hope the World Series game ends before the start of GRIMM.

"So, you know how NBC has been promoting the debut of "Grimm" -- which is set and films in Portland -- tonight?

And how our stories have talked about its debut tonight?

And how the original premiere date of Oct. 21 got pushed back to tonight, apparently as a Halloween tie-in?

Well, choosing tonight as the "Grimm" premiere date may be a decision that haunts NBC, according to industry buzz.

Because the first episode of the show is now going up against game 7 of the World Series, the same World Series that had a spectacularly dramatic game last night.

James Hibberd at Entertainment Weekly writes:

You know that scene in The Perfect Storm when the meteorologist is looking at his monitor showing all the patterns coming together and is awestruck how the storm systems are combining just right to cause a giant wave to drown George Clooney?

I didn't see that on their list of fees.  Did you go to their counter at the airport?

But before I leave, this is one of the reasons I live in this State.  The shadow from Mount Rainier.

No. It is way across town. I have heard they don't do counter tickets here. You have to do it online.

Good Evening!

Well...

Again, we had another good orchestra rehearsal today. We got some good detail work done, and, in essence, played through the whole show again today. So... The "band" is back for tech on Wednesday and Thursday. 11:30am-11:00pm both days. -With a two hour dinner break each day. So, unless something goes majorly wrong during the tech, I'm thinking/hoping that we might all get excused early on Thursday.

Good Afternoon!

...And while they choreograph "Sing For Your Supper"....

I love (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AImz5R8i6YY) this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laE3dcf_dDw) song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64c0ul7uDaQ)!

;D

(Make sure that you click on all three colors.)

I do enjoy that song.  However, Sirius XM's "On Broadway" has this fascination for the song "To Keep My Love Alive" from THE CONNECTICUTT YANKEE.  How many damn verses does that song have?  It was probably amusing during the course of the show, but as a song on the radio, I have to turn it off!

Yep, that song has a lot of verses. And I believe there are a bunch of "alternate" verses too.

Congrats, BK!  Will official announcements be made (such as on Playbill.com, etc.)?

Well... I already unofficially announced it on Twitter (http://twitter.com/JoseSPiano/status/130035574722666496).

Or squirrel brains on toast. Or in a box. You could eat them with some lox.

I had to answer all these questions earlier today about tongue stock and what you could do with it. This is one weird food day.

That's why she's wonderful. I think the last movie I saw her in was "Grosse Pointe Blank" and she's mute in her two scenes and yet she's so memorable, so touching that it made the movie for me.
