Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of show four, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they missed show four, but are thinking about seeing show five or six - they would've been there opening night if we'd called the evening Unsung MOOsicals.
-
And the word of the day is: OPEROSE!
-
First Post!
;)
-
And, since I, too, have two shows tomorrow/today...
Goodnight.
-
Good very early morning
-
To answer Dear Read JosSPiano
It is the only the lower part that is affecting me. Chrone's is the entire intestinal tract
And since I am up this early and in much discomfort....
I do not think I will go into work today.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Feeling better vibes for DR MICHAEL S.
-
Today is Saturday and it is a work day. Oh well.
-
It is a pleasant 40 degrees here right now....so it will be a nice December day.....snow predicted on Monday, they say.

TOD:
Ebay is a great site for finding things - and collecting things.
And it is great to have Amazon so that I can get books and music that might not be available locally....and at good prices.
ALSO of course.....friends like those at HHW.....the internet is wonderful!!!
As a tool, the computer makes writing much easier......and certainly business and board of directors communication is much easier now......no stamps to mail the minutes.
And as a publicity tool for shows and events - it can't be beat.
-
Good morning, all! I slept well and I do believe in my last dream I was workng on a revue with our very own BK. My only memory of it now is that Greg Jbara and Debbie Gravitte were rehearsing/performing "Man and Wife" and "Guess We Might As Well Stay Married."
So, this morning I've got work on ROBERTA, THE RED MILL, and DEAREST ENEMY. I have a few Act Two scores of RED MILL to mark up for my copyists, but the main task is cleaning up the draft of the vocal score for DEAREST ENEMY. Later in the afternoon I am taking the CDs of EILEEN to Bruce Pomahac's for a listen.
I can add no more to DR JRand61's thoughts on the innernet than "I agree!"

It's 38 degrees here. I love it!

Instant communication!!!
A blessing and a curse.....but mostly a blessing!
I am off to work. Oh well.
DR ELMORE - the Dream-O-Matic 6000 reveals that you often consider your business relationships in terms of family and marriage, some of them work out, some of them don't - but all of them in the end worth the time and trouble.

Saturday morning greetings! We are up and ready for the arrival of the window-washing crew that will, well, wash our windows inside and out and replace the screens with storm windows. Guess that means winter's here...
-
Good morning! It's a crisp fall morning here--temp is expected to go to about 52-currently 43.
-
I have to pick up some packages at the post office. I hope one of them is the Phantom 25th Anniversary DVD and CD from amazon in the UK.
-
I forgot to mention I received the 5.1 Mix of LOST HORIZON (Musical Version). It makes all the difference in the world,
So I have a mono copy to give away to the first person who responds to this post

TOD:
I don’t know where to start. The internet has changed things so much but it’s difficult to place one thing over everything else. I think one of the main advantages is that it has saved time. Pre-internet days it was difficult to research things or obtain information about so many things without having to write letters or make lengthy long-distance telephone calls or make personal visits to places. So much is now available at the touch of a keyboard. The computer itself has made it so much easier to type and print copies of documents (anyone remember the days of producing copies of documents by having to use inky stencils?)
-
Window washer guys are here and our house is all torn up - we had to move as much as we could to give them access. I've been doing some holiday decorating, but now I'm just trying to stay out of their way.

Remember mimeograph machines? I used to actually *ask* my teachers if I could make the mimeograph copies down in the school office just so I could smell the ink. Yes, it does explain quite a lot.
-
The internet has literally changed my life manifestly for the better. Having worked for so long in traditional print media, it's an incredible pleasure to be nicely compensated to write for a site where I can pretty much just work from home at my own pace.
-
The internet also made my Farmer research more available and I believe turned the tide in reportage about the actress. Fifteen years ago people pretty much believed the Scientology version of her life, that has made a 180 degree turn now, which I believe I helped to facilitate.
-
On the musical side of things, the internet is a fantastic marketing and networking tool. I have received so many wonderful emails from "regular" folk and well known artists through the years who have heard some of my material, found me online, and contacted me. It really makes my day to receive emails like that.
-
TOD - the Internet revolutionized my profession - remember the card catalog? On a more personal level, I can remember planning a 3.5-week family driving trip to the west coast in 1996 with paper maps and travel brochures. By the time I was planning a similar trip east in 1999 we had internet access at home and it was a totally different experience.
And the human connection - our son Rob has gotten to know, via Facebook, my cousin who lives in Japan far better than he would have even with email. And who could have imagined that I'd be playing Scrabble on my phone with my friend Jane from elementary school?
-
And the word of the day is: OPEROSE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: EAGER BEAVER
-
I, on the other hand, am up. She of the Evil Eye is here and I shall jog shortly.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And it's currently 43 degrees here in Glendale. It's also 43 degrees in Washington, DC... As well as in New York City. -I truly did a double/triple take when I checked my weather app on my iPhone a few minutes ago.
-
Good morning, or is it afternoon?
-
It's page two, whatever it is!
-
And now it's time for "I gotta two-show-day-ahead-of-me" breakfast!

From Bruce:
Jane, do I know Gina Bernard?
;D Check your list of FB friends. We show up as mutual friends. She graduated Hami in '67 but I don't remember her. I'm guessing she was a semester behind me though her birthday is in April which should have put her in my class.
-
Thank you Cilla.

It's 50o here and when the first half of the Cincinnati/Connecticut game is over I'm going outside to put the lighted evergreens & bows on the front porch railing.

And...
I'm back from breakfast.
-Just in case anyone keeping track of such things. ::)
-
And now I need to get ready to head to LACC for today's final performance of Lost and Unsung. To quote Richard Maltby: "What a journey, what a ride!"
*And my brother, Jay, currently en route from San Diego with his wife. They'll be at today's matinee. :)

Just PM your address and I'll send it to you.

Here is a link to a new book about Saul Bass.
The great movie main title (remember them?) and poster designer
http://www.laurenceking.com/product/Saul+Bass%3A+A+Life+in+Film+---+Design.htm
-
I'm back from the four-mile jog and having some eggs and will shortly be on my way to do the matinee.

The front porch is now garlanded, UC holds a share of the Big East title, and my MomCave is decidedly warmer now that the storm windows are in :)

So Jeff, when's your book coming out? :D

Went to the post office. I'm happy to say that the DVD and CD of Phantom (25th Anniversary) were in one of the packages. I'm watching the blu-ray right now. It looks and sounds great!
-
Now I really have to do some cleaning while I'm watching!

I got it not too long ago and I love it!

I heated up a steak pie today but when I came to eat it I found it was a chicken pie! I don't hate chicken pies but I far prefer steak pies and when it says steak pie on the packet, I tend to assume that's what I'm going to get. Still, I've eaten it now so I can't very well go back and complain. I've got a chicken to roast tomorrow as well - so it's turning into an all-chicken weekend.

A delivery company knocked on my door today and asked if I could take in a large parcel for next door because there was no reply. I said I'd take care of the parcel and they said they would leave a card to say I had it. My neighbour moved in recently but I don't see much of him. I think he comes from Eastern Europe but he doesn't seem to speak much English - he sort of grunts when I say hello. He hasn't called on me for the parcel so I went round with it to his front door. I saw a light on in the house but as soon as I knocked on the door the light went out. I knocked again - no response, so I came back home. Very odd. I don't know what I'm going to do if he doesn't come to collect the parcel.

52 posts. This will not do.

Where is everybody?
-
Maybe they are decking their halls with boughs of holly.
-
Or, perhaps they are out shopping for gifts for me?
-
Or possibly writing out Christmas cards?
-
Perhaps baking holiday cookies?
-
I should be making myself something for dinner.

I wonder how long it would take me to post three more pages?

I wonder which would be worse. Three pages of my posts? Or no posts at all?

I have a feeling that Ginny left without signing out.

Home just for a short while, to water yard and clean up outside after the heavy winds.
Then off again to do laundry.

I'm being very quite about my boss's wife, won't know anything till Monday. Stayed late at work on Friday but the results from the scans were not known to me.
Very sad :'(

I think 2 dogs are home, 3rd one still at the vets. :(

Moved to Ventura to do just that.
Not sure what happened.
Oh yeah, his name is Tom. ;)

T.O.D. Part 1
Biggest benefit of the Internet is probably the ability to track down people I had lost track of over the years. Also the ability to shop online without ever leaving the house. And, of course, being able to comparison shop for items I want to buy.

Very sad :'(
I hope she wakes up to find all three dogs home & well!!!!

T.O.D. Part 2
Biggest benefit of the computer is the ability to feel more artistic. I have created signs, cards, banners, tee shirts, calendars, etc.;without having any artistic talent. i can't even draw a straight line normally.

After I retire, I am going to have to dig out my computer business equipment for making tee shirts and coffee mugs. Unfortunately, I think most of that stuff is in the storage unit.

Jane! When did you pop in?
A little while ago. Since then I've been popping in & out.
-
I had an excellent work out at the gym followed by a hike with Keith & Sherlock & then a short trip into town.

I guess that makes this Area 51, which explains a lot.

We also stopped at the market. I wanted to do a couple of more errands but Keith was ready to come home.

I am really crippled up today.

Actually there is only one guest reading today's posts, but there are actually 43 guests viewing the entire board.

I am eating a very interesting side dish with my dinner. I picked it up at Safeway, form their deli. It is Three-potato Au Gratin, which I mistakenly read as thee cheese au gratin, which sounded very tasty. It is a mixture of Yukon Gold potatoes, yams, and sweet potatoes covered in a cheese sauce. It is okay, but it certainly not what I thought it was going to be.
-
Oh well, I have now eaten it. I may buy it again sometime, but not anytime soon.
-
I really wanted to pick up a package of Safeway's cornbread dressing and some turkey gravy. Apparently they stop stocking dressing as soon as Thanksgiving is over. Well, at least until Christmas.
-
It was very chilly outside today, but no rain or snow is in the forecast.

My biggest seller was probably mouse pads (shows it has been a few years). Everyone wanted a photo of their child or grandchild on their mouse pad.

Thank goodness I didn't run into any ice getting in and out of my car. It took me close to 15 minutes just to get from my apartment, put the chair in the trunk, and then get into the car.

It amazes me that I am still recieving catalogs in the mail for ordering things for Christmas. i f you wnated to get the gift my Christmas, you would have to pay extra for shipping. Actually, I saw a comforter in one of the catalogs that I thought would be great for my bed. Unfortunately, it was sold out in all six colors that were listed.
-
I think it is going to be even colder tonight. The skies are completely clear, which usually means ice by morning. Not that I care, i don't plan on going anywhere tomorrow.

At least I managed to get us to page five!

I need to start getting ready for bed. The Big Ten Championship Game starts at 5:00 p.m. West Coast time.

Hi TCB! I am fine. Just been busy, I guess. Not sure doing what. I am spending more time practicing my flute as it became crystal clear to me that I needed a lot of practice before our 2 concerts next week. I'm a lot more confident about the music now
-
Go Michigan State!
-
There has been some family drama and I'm more involved with some of the daily details of things mom and dad want. So it's been a little time consuming. Nothing out of the ordinary

I think that is great that you have gone back to playing the flute.
-
G'night!
-
I also did some Christmas shopping, have bee reading and playing with the cats
-
I'm glad I went back to playing the flute, but sheesh! I'm no where even close to where I used to be. At first it really bothered me, now I'm ok with it. The two people playing first music right now are both young high school band directors. I'm fine playing second music. I like the harmony and with practice I'm getting all the notes. I had to find my piccolo for next week. We're doing a christmas song that has the "Stars and Stripes" piccolo part in it. Holy moly, it's been even longer since I've played picc. But it's really fun getting back into it.
-
Back from the matinee, which was fun - two-thirds full and a good crowd. I picked up no packages and an important envelope and now I'm resting until tonight's show.
-
Mom asked what I wanted for Christmas and all I could think of was a nice music stand. LOL, I have a portable one, but it would be nice to have one to just leave up in the living room and take my portable stand when I need it to play some of the small gatherings we go to.
-
We've had over 3 inches of snow today. I'm really loving it. There was no wind so it's really beautiful. I think I may bundle up and go for a walk to see some of the Christmas lights in the snow. We've had such nice weather that it seems like EVERYONE has lights....well, not everyone but lots of people.
-
SO, hope all is well with everyone, I'll be back later
-
Bruce Pomahac was quite impressed with EILEEN, I am very very very happy to report, and we have a good visit, a very good listen, and an excellent dinner at a steak house across from his apartment at 43rd and 10th. He had a cheeseburger and I had salmon.
I think I'll have some egg nog anf watch tv.
-
I have a feeling that Ginny left without signing out.
Guilty! I've actually been puttering and eating dinner and watching TV. Now we're watching the Big Ten championship. I really have no preference, but I'll be for Michigan State because Rob's new in-laws went there.

I'm watching "It's a Wonderful Life". I forgot how much of the movie happens before George jumps off the bridge.
-
Even though it's a great game, I'm probably not going to see the second half of the Big Ten championship. 5:30am comes pretty early, you know...
-
'night!

Hello DR CILLA LIZ!
-
Page Six Dance.
-
yes DR JMK - I will probably have to file a complaint with PayPal to get my money back....the seller is completely unsympathetic and does not seem to care that she has my money and I have....well....NOTHING.
-
On TCM tonight - OUT OF THE PAST featuring a main theme based on a song Frances sang in TOAST OF NEW YORK.....very lovely.....took me a couple of times to realize what it was......"The First Time I Saw You."
Now there is a 1964 soap opera starring Rhonda Fleming and Rossano Brazzi that I have never heard of.....I think I will give it a try.
Instant Love is the title.
-
Break legs vibes to MR BK and DR JOSE and Co. on their closing night.....and great party vibes as well.

Hello JRand
-
Craig just made fantastic vegan matzo ball soup, however, he will be experimenting with the matzo ball recipe as these disintegrated into the soup.

I believe this fact may have been mentioned by someone here before. Edmundo Ros, perhaps?

I haven't had a new pair of glasses since shortly after I finished my cancer treatments three years ago and was quite surprised to learn that my eyesight has actually improved !
I was also pleasantly surprised by the prices my new spectacles with progressive lenses, with anti-reflective coating and a titanium frame cost less than half of what I paid for my last pair three years ago

The Vixter also got herself a trendy new frame -

we shall have to take picture when we get our new specs next week

then we wandered around doing Christmas and dinner shopping and enjoying samples ----
the maple walnut coffee cake was magnificent!
-
Since the Vixter and I are hosting coffee hour tomorrow morning we stocked up on some mini red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and mini Cinnamon rolls with icing and mini brownie bites as well as one of those maple walnut coffee cakes
-
then we stopped in at the public library there on the "New Items" display was prominently displayed this DVD
-
then the Vixter baked four dozen peppermint cookies for coffee hour
-
and we watched a dvd set borrowed from the library
-
and we took this one out to watch tomorrow
-
and I made turkey soup

and that was our day

Went to the post office. I'm happy to say that the DVD and CD of Phantom (25th Anniversary) were in one of the packages. I'm watching the blu-ray right now. It looks and sounds great!
Where did you get it? According to Amazon it is not going to be released until Feb 7/12
I got it from Amazon.co.uk. The Blu-ray in the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005M0X078) is region code-free, so if you have a Blu-ray player, you don't have to wait until it's released in the US. It's only £14.99, which right now is only about $23, less than the pre-order price at Amazon.com, which actually still doesn't list a release date. I bought the Blu-ray/DVD combo, the double-CD AND "Torchwood: Miracle Day" and shipping was a total of £5.06, which right now is just under $8. That's a good deal, if you ask me.
-
And speaking of Amazon.co.uk, the Topic of the Day:
One of the biggest benefits of the Internet has been shopping...being able to buy things from around the world, and even just FINDING things from around the world to buy! Things that I never knew I needed (or just wanted), but mainly getting cast recordings and DVDs from England, France, Germany, Brazil, Australia, Japan, etc.
One of the biggest benefits of a computer is making my own CDs. I have record albums that'll never be released on CD or performances from TV broadcasts that'll never be released. :D
-
I think it is going to be even colder tonight. The skies are completely clear, which usually means ice by morning. Not that I care, i don't plan on going anywhere tomorrow.
Tomorrow, I'm going to the movies with my friend Margo. There's a double feature of "The Ides of March" and "Moneyball." We'll have dinner in between. :)
-
Back from our final performance and we could not have asked to go out with a better one. Great full house, responsive as all get out, lots o' laughs and cheers (genuine, not the bs kind) and the cast did great. Everyone was very happy. We all then convened at Genghis Cohen and ate a LOT of food.
-
BK, Congrats on the successful show and a great final performance!
