Well, you've read the notes, the notes, I hope, brought back some memories of dear Susan, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're saying a prayer that Susan is in a wonderful place.
-
And the word of the day is: SWIVET!
-
I am so sad to hear about Susan.
I had the opportunity to meet Susan during the recording of Jeepers Creepers. I even took some photographs which one was published in Richard's and Tom's magazine (whose name escapes me at the moment.) I remember how excited they were about meeting her.
Susan was petite and unassuming person who I would also think was a little shy. I remember her at the dinner we had, a huge group of people, and sat upstairs. Sorry don't remember the res tauant's name.
I have had the opportunity to meet many actors and actresses over the years and she was one of the nicest.
Edit
I found a photo.

The gentleman on the right is "Zachary"

I also remeber at the recording session that Dorothy Loudon was supposed to sing I've Written A Letter To Daddy/Whatever Happened To Baby Jane. But she pulled out because she was under the weather. She too was battling cancer at the time and died a short time later.

Good morning, all! I slept well, and I have a day of errands, the first being a session at Toyland with Peter Foley to run through the current state of ROBERTA and finish the score off. After that, I must needs accomplish some holiday shopping. I've been quite pathetic so far this year. Of course, an income would help, too.
Sad news about Susan/ I thought your tribute to her was quite beautiful, BK! She was already absent from HHW by the time I arrived in 2004. I never met her, although I have a memory that she came to one of the NYMF performances of THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X.
And so to work.
-
My condolences on Susan's passing. And, as Elmore said, that was a beautiful remembrance of her.
-
I need to leave early today. Hope to catch up at some point.

I am very sorry to hear about Susan. She was incredibly sweet to Lyn and me-- not only on the trip when we met her but for long afterward.

What a lovely column about Susan. I only knew her through this here site, but did have some email correspondence with her.
She sent me a couple of nice signed photos - and since she knew I was a fan, she sent me a nice 11x17 repro of the Attack of the 50 Foot Woman poster she had found somewhere.
Shocking news to hear....shocking and sad. And yes prayers for Susan's family and other friends.
Her commentary with her mother and Bruce on BEGINNING OF THE END is so much fun!
-
Good morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'll be thinking of Susan today.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! Richard and I have some errands to do today, so I'll be away most of the afternoon...
-
BK, I'm so sorry to hear of Susan's passing. Condolences to all who love her and thank you for sharing your lovely tribute with us.
-
I had a great time at Joe's Pub last night at Pam Ann's show. Our group somehow ended up right in the front ring in "First Class", and each of us became "targets" throughout the show. :)
-
LOL......what was the best arrow slung at you DR JOSE?
-
And now I need to head into midtown to get some practicing done on my MY FAIR LADY part. I'll have a rehearsal on Friday afternoon, watch the show that night, then play the Saturday matinee. Wheeeeeee!!!

Sad, sad, sad to hear of Susan's passing.
Because of this site, the most popular one on the internet, Susan and I became chums. We would have nearly nightly chats on aol messenger and we would find travel contests online and enter them together. At the time of the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, she and I were actively pursuing the chance to win a trip to New Zealand. Susan and I spoke telephonically quite a bit in those days as well. I would also buy Pennsylvania Lottery tickets for her whenever she wanted.
While she was in school she would send me her computer-based projects to comment on.
FINALLY, I met Susan at a Monster Bash in Butler, PA. this was right after "Jeepers Creepers" was released. In person, Susan did not disappoint. Warm, friendly, charismatic, pert and beautiful. Susan was one of the first inscriptions I acquired on the "Jeepers Creepers" cd booklet. (She also inscribed my dvds of ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE and BEGINNING OF THE END).
As always, her inscription was to "Tony Sweetie," her very own nickname for me.
At a later Bash, Susan introduced me to her father, who was making his first appearance at a Monster Bash.
Sad, sad, sad to learn that such a "lovely lady," (me chosen nickname for her) has left this realm.
Bon voyage, Lovely Lady, wherever this next journey takes you.

LOL......what was the best arrow slung at you DR JOSE?
Um... There were a couple of them, none of which can be repeated here on this family site.

I forgot to mention the goggles worked great! I swam for about an hour staying in the lap lanes the entire time. It is still difficult for me to turn my head to breathe, as much now due to my left shoulder as my right one. I stop about half way, where the water is shallow enough to stand, catch some air & continue on.
I need ear plugs that make me deaf, combine that with goggles vs glasses & I have to keep asking people to tell me the time. Since I can't always hear their response I need them to indicate using their fingers. It is rather embarrassing. Don't suggest I take out the ear plug. I did that today & once wet it doesn't fit back in as well. I never used to be bothered by water in my ears.
Ha, we should swim together. I also wear ear plugs. I hate getting water in my ears.
I have a bathing cap, goggles, ear plugs, and a nose plug. :)
But I can see without my glasses. And there is a big clock at the shallower end. I sometimes adjust my ear plugs. Just press the water out.
I haven't been swimming in a month. Just haven't felt 100%. And i really need to feel almost that to swim full out.
It's crazy. From april-oct i exercise 6 days a week. But so far the last month has not been good. I hate indoor exercises. I need to do my indoor bike and hoopnotica!

BK,
So sorry to ear about your friend, Susan Gordon.
My sincere condolences.

Nice tribute to Susan Gordon.
Vibes of comfort for her family and friends. !!!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I remember her posting here and then she was gone. But oddly enough I don't think I ever knew why she left before today.
-
I'm sitting here crying as I type. Keith & I are so very sad today. He has known Susan since high school & I have known her since 4th grade. Last I spoke to her I knew she was seriously ill, but not without hope or that she had cancer.
Bruce, your notes this morning were very moving & a nice tribute to Susan.

Nice photo. Susan looks very happy here.
-
I am also very saddened to learn of Susan (DR DenMother)'s passing. I interviewed Susan for Classic Images magazine back in the early 2000s and she, along with DR JRand, were the two people who urged me to join HHW.
I finally met Susan in person during my first trip to New York back in 2004. She drove in to Manhatten to meet me for breakfast and the two of us toddled about the town for a good part of the day. I remember that she took me to a well stocked health food store which she was fond of.
She was a delightful person and a dear friend.

LOL, she had a purchase Oregon lottery tickets once. I had forgotten about that.

Betsy and I reminisced about our chats and emails with Susan last night. Susan used to call Betsy regularly for help with MS Word, of all things. I remember one nice phone call or maybe AOL chat with JR and Susan when I was trying to get my Farmer-Garland musical off the ground and Susan said she wanted to play Judy's mother. She also tried for some time to get me to adopt a macrobiotic diet, which I soundly rejected (though I did try a few macrobiotic dishes along the way).

I haven't been swimming in a month. Just haven't felt 100%. And i really need to feel almost that to swim full out.
I find once I begin exercising I start to feel better. Our pool has a big clock but it is too far away for me, the wall at the deep end is closer but lacking a clock. I might leave a cheap watch by the edge of the pool next time.
I feel better now that I don't need one more additional gadget to swim, meaning nose plugs. I have thought of getting a cap. Does it keep your hair dry? I just come home & wash mine anyway.
Yesterday I squeezed the water out of the ear plug first but it still didn't fit exactly the same & my right ear is bothering me a little today.

So sorry to hear about Susan. I had the priviledge of meeting her in NY after The Brain. She seemed very sweet; my condolences to bk and all who loved her.
-
She also tried for some time to get me to adopt a macrobiotic diet, which I soundly rejected (though I did try a few macrobiotic dishes along the way).
A number of years ago we met her in San Francisco with her youngest child. We ate at a strange vegetarian macrobiotic Kosher restaurant. We also did some major grocery shopping before driving them into the mountains above Auburn for a macrobiotic camping trip. She had a great time there while Keith & I drove back down the mountain to spend the night in charming Auburn.

Jane, I thought of you while watching a dog competition; the Berner won its category.
-
I will probably engender discontent among those in the know here, but I watched MEMPHIS last night (which I must review) and I must say I found Chad Kimball incredibly annoying. I'm sure he's sweet in person, but that ridiculous patois he did just drove me up the wall.
-
Bruce sent me a "to the point" email about being away from HHW, and I must apologize for my absence, particularly on my birthday where you all left me very wonderful "Happy birthday" posts!
I have been away because I am trying very hard to concentrate on getting my many interviews transcribed. I have almost 30 interviews on audio tape which I need to get completed and sent out to various magazines before all of these people pass away....and since the majority of these interviewees are in their 80s...well...none of us are getting any younger.
HHW and other internet sights are places I tend to spend a lot of time at instead of working on these interviews, so for the time being I am drastically cutting down on my surfing. I love HHW and all of the DRs here, and I really, really miss checking in to this here sight each day, something I have done for years, but I must get this work done. Once I get a few interviews finished up I will be back, that is for sure!

I appreciate reading so many memories of my childhood friend. I now need to write our mutual childhood friend in Israel.

Welcome back, MBarnum and Edisaurus. You have both been missed.

I really appreciate reading about Susan. Makes me wish I had met someone who touched so many lives in such a warm and positive way. I especially liked td's story about trying to get the trip to New Zealand.

I, too, am enjoying reading all of the posts about Miss Susan.
Several Facebook'rs are also commenting about her....including Jon Provost.

Susan and I played The Miracle Worker together - still one of the most fulfilling and satisfying theatre experiences of my long life. Her passing is a sad and beautiful gift, actually - reminding me not to waste a moment... this is all there is.

Penny yours was the first response, since then I have received many others from our class. It is nice to have so many memories & kind thoughts though if everyone in our class writes back I will be at the computer all day.

Seeing so many drop in reminded me that I have much to catch up on.
Hope i haven't missed any important events for the wonderful people here, as I've been skimming on some days. I hope to go back and really read when life is calmer between Christmas and New Years.

Condolences on the passing of Susan.

Greetings from Cincinnati's Apple Store at Kenwood Towne Center! We're here for the geniuses to figure out how to get a CD out of Richard's MacBook. His appointment was for 15 minutes ago...
I've already been to the Vera Bradley store to exchange some items that I bought for a gift - the exchange gave me more suitable items in better colors and $4.94 cash back!
-
I'm up - took forever to fall asleep last night, but I know I got seven hours somehow. The sun is out today, so I guess I will get out there and jog shortly.
-
I'm playing with a 21.5 inch desktop Mac. The screen is huge!
-
This place is BUSY for a Tuesday afternoon!
-
And the genius is back, having fixed Richard's computer. He's now explaining how to prevent the problem from happening again.
-
And I found Page 3 here at the Apple Store!
Bye for now!

DR GINNY is at the APPLE store!!

I have been informed Susan's funeral was at 10:30 this morning in New Jersey and her burial will be tomorrow in Kedumim, Israel.
-
I'd heard about the Israel thing. I'm dropping a note to Bert I. right now.
-
I just looked at our last e-mail correspondence - in August, and it does look like we sent her four books - I have an e-mail to the helper telling her to come get them and ship them, followed by "let's do it quickly - she's very ill." So I obviously knew she was very ill, but I'm positive she never mentioned it was cancer.

Wow! DR MBarnum and DR edisaurus in one fell swoop. Is the sky falling in?
Jerome Kern's ROBERTA is ready for rescue. The facts are in, the numbers are in place.

My mistake, service in NY was yesterday & in Israel today. My friend in Israel was as shocked as we were. I'm sorry she didn't have the information in time to go to the funeral in Israel.

DR Jane, the bathing cap does not keep my hair dry. And anyways i always shower and shampoo after swimming.
But most people who swim a lot do wear bathing caps at my pool. For me it keeps my hair out of my way. Even if i have it in a ponytail. The front part would still get in my face. With a bathing cap you can focus on swimming instead of pushing hair off your face.
-
Sorry DR Jane. :(
Nice to see DRS MBarnum and Edi.

I'm receiving many nice emails back from my high school classmates. Most of whom were also in Jr High & elementary school with us.

If it doesn't protect my hair I won't bother. I still have to stand to catch my breath so I don't mind having a bit more time while brushing my bangs back.

Speaking of hair, I'm off to get a hair cut. Later we have out of town company arriving.

I am truly devastated to read of Susan Gordon's passing. Susan was one of the first people to befriend me here at HHW. We spoke on the phone several times. We had what we thought was a great idea (I still do), but then the stalker came on the scene; and I believe Susan became a little nervous with people she hadn't actually met. I wil miss her. Perhaps I will sort through my DVDs this week and pull out THE BOY AND THE PIRATE to watch this weekend.
-
I have a feeling many Susan movies will be played in many homes over the next few days.
-
Just saw a dear friend at LGA airport. He cut my hair for over 20 years, but said that if Bush was reelected he would move back to his country of origin, Argentina. Haven't seen him since until today so that was quite an unexpected treat!

Went to a steak restaurant where the steak was served on a hot stone but it was extremely disappointing. Poor quality and over priced. I find it so difficult to find a decent steak served up nowadays.

The worst meal I ever had in London was a steak dinner. I expected it to be wonderful because the restaurant was called Black Angus (which is the name of a chain in Washington).

Thank you. It is nice to be where others cared about her too. She had a habit of calling late for us when she should have been sleeping. She began calling when she was in San Diego visiting her mother & was on the same time zone as us. It feels strange knowing she won't be calling again.

Why did Chad Kimball have to leave the show?
Tony Nominee Chad Kimball Will Take Indefinite Leave from Memphis (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/152941-EXCLUSIVE-Tony-Nominee-Chad-Kimball-Will-Take-Indefinite-Leave-from-Memphis):
"Chad suffered some nerve damage doing the show a few months ago," Cloer told Playbill.com. "Because of this, he has missed quite a few performances recently, and his body needs a real break with time to properly heal. The role, quite taxing as Chad has created it, just doesn't allow for this so he will be taking a leave." Memphis plays Broadway's Shubert Theatre; Kimball's successor has yet to be announced.
Adam Pascal has since taken over the role.

I was looking through the archives at HHW covering the two days in the recording studio during Jeepers Creepers.
I totally forgot that DR Jose C. Simbulan (as he was known back then) was one of the backup singers for Judy Kaye.
Fond memories of past posters such as William E. Lurie and S. Woody White and Phil
And even Tom From Oz and Matt Hough posted back then
But it ws heartening to see how many posters from 2003 are still here (Through good times and bum times)
Jrand
TCB
Jennifer
Ron Pulliam
Kerry
Laura
MBarnum
Jane
TD
Jed and Ann (On Occasions)
George
Ben
Jose
Not a bad group of people and excuse me if I missed anyone
and Arnold Brockman's son Craig.
and Matt Hough who only posted once or twice a day and not his entire life as he did before he left us. :-)
And I'm being crtical of myself
I wrote such gay postings! I didn't see it back then but my god looking back YIKES
-
Little did I know at the time that it was only the 4th day for this site. It still amazes me I chose that day to find Bruce, prompted by wanting to give Penny Bruce's work number as well as his home number.
I posted irregularly until I was recovering from a surgery to reduce my risks of an inherited cancer. Sadly it was also about the time Susan felt she needed to stop posting.
Odd how we go in circles with this story.
-
and we all know DR Jose's love for food.
He posted some of his favorite restaunts.
Are they still a favorite?
Favorite restaurants:
Richmond, VA: Stella's - Greek food, plus... And Stella always treats me and my guests very well. Her Black Walnut-Apple Streusel "bread" at Christmas is totally amazing, and she only makes it for her "special customers" - I get two loaves every Christmas. -Each one weighs at least two pounds - just chock full of apples and almonds... oh, and the streusel topping is at least a half-inch thick! -And her "regular" bread is a Richmond legend!
-And there are some other fine places to eat in Richmond, very fine. Even nationally ranked and rated! Acacia, Mamma Zu's, Edo's Squid, The Track, Amici, Kuba-Kuba.. Great names, huh?
DC: Carlyle Grand Cafe and Sweetwater Tavern - Owned by the same company, similar menus, but each place has their signature dishes and style. Always dependable.
For sushi: Matuba - wonderful fish, and gracious service. But Makoto is the ultimate sushi experience. Practically magical - and expen$sive.
For tapas: Jaleo - The chef does amazing things, and has also just opened up a Mediterranean tapas place, Zaytinya, that serves small dishes from Greece, Turkey and Egypt.
For Spanish: Taberna del Alabadero. True Spanish cuisine served in a beautiful room.
For Seafood: Kinkead's - Simply wonderful.
-
DR Michael S thank you for the list of us long standing posters. :)

I was just looking at the first day at the revamped HHW. I think it was October 22, 2003. Everybody kept asking what Karma was on the board. Wasn't that the little switch that turned us all against each other, until BK had it removed?

I was just looking at the first day at the revamped HHW. I think it was October 22, 2003. Everybody kept asking what Karma was on the board. Wasn't that the little switch that turned us all against each other, until BK had it removed?
Yup...the Karma points seemed to become VERY important to some people.

Ah yes, that became really ugly.

I too never knew the complete reason (or the extent of the problem) when Susan left the board. I know several of us wrote to her trying to convicne her to return.
Because of her wish for privacy I always hesitated to share my first post here:
Bruce, If you want to get in touch with Susan Gordon, give me a call or write. Keith & I are still good friends with her. I have known Susan since 4th grade.

A long time. We moved away, she moved away, we lost contact. Then one day I was visiting my dad & she was visiting her mother. We were both shopping for groceries & almost crashed head on to each other at the market. :) That was in 1984. We were both living on the East Coast within 3 hours of each other. I even drove to her & we flew to our class reunion together from Newark.

It wasn't so much that people were concerned about receiving Karma points, more that others were having them taken away, not nice at all. I liked the little karma fairy though. She would have been nice to have had with the happy faces to use for good vibes.

48 Guests at HHW, but not one of them cares about today's posts.

Well, this is (sort of) interesting...two different articles about two different upcoming musicals:
Tuck Everlasting Musical in Development With Book of Mormon's Casey Nicholaw (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/157594-Tuck-Everlasting-Musical-in-Development-With-Book-of-Mormons-Casey-Nicholaw).
and:
Book of Mormon's Casey Nicholaw in Negotiations to Direct "Austin Powers" Musical (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/157584-Book-of-Mormons-Casey-Nicholaw-in-Negotiations-to-Direct-Austin-Powers-Musical).
Hmm.

Here's an article on Playbill.com that I'm sure that BK won't be surprised to read: Leap of Faith's Creative Team Now Includes Sergio Trujillo, Warren Leight and Christopher Ashley (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/157576-Leap-of-Faiths-Creative-Team-Now-Includes-Sergio-Trujillo-Warren-Leight-and-Christopher-Ashley).
The producers of the new Broadway-bound musical Leap of Faith, based on the film, officially announced on Dec. 13 that Christopher Ashley (Memphis), Warren Leight (Side Man) and Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys) are new members of the creative team. Ashley will direct and Leight joins Janus Cercone to revise the book. Trujillo is the new choreographer.

Good Evening!
Well, I managed to function through most of today in my jet-lagged-induced haze. I can tell that I'm starting to get back on East Coast time, but, I had totally forgotten just how bad jet lag can affect me. -Alas, I don't think I've ever had to be back "on" after coming back from the West Coast (or Australia or the Philippines).
I did get some practicing done this morning, but it basically turned out to be a quick sightread-thru session of Act One. There are a lot of notes. There's nothing technically demanding, but practicing with a dull headache is never a good thing. Tomorrow should be a bit more productive.

I had planned to take a nap around 3:00, but then started to take care of a few more errands and didn't get back to the apartment until around 4:30. Consequently, I ended up crashing around 5:00. And two hours laters...
Now to figure out what to do for dinner.

Hello, DR MBarnum!
-
Hello, DR edisaurus!
-
DR Michael S - All of those restaurants are still my favorites. -At least the ones that are still open. ;)
-
And speaking of restaurant closings, I received advanced notice this afternoon that two(!) of my favorite places here in NYC will be closing up at the end of the year. I guess I am sort of an "insider". :-\

It's been truly bittersweet reading all of the posts and memories about Susan.

And ET in a white bathing suit.
Can't believe I forgot Taylor in "A Little Night Music." It's not a good movie, but I still enjoy it.

Finished a paper for one class, gave a presentation in another. Now, only a few more papers before the weekend. Ugh. I'm tired.

You're almost done DR JOHN G!!

Because there was some interest here in my package-wrapping table, here's a photo:

Bed time! It's been a long day. I'm having a little cointreau and passing out.
-
I never had the privilege of meeting Susan Gordon - and after reading BK's tribute and the various stories here I regret that very much. My condolences for all who loved her

I think it was only when some people started giving people negative karma that it got ugly.
-
I am reading a really good book. It was voted Favorite Book of 2011 on Goodreads: Divergent by Veronica Roth. It's dystopia. And so far I love it!

It's funny how we sometimes think alike. I just posted the exact same thing (did not see your post).

DR Jane, I finally found someone who lives in Canada who is answering my kindle questions. I found a kindle group on goodreads. And goodreads allows you to actually email the person (vs amazon where there were tons of people in Canada i just cannot figure out a way to just email the person).
