Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of a month called February, and now it is time for you to post until the February cows come home.

And the word of the day is: IDONEOUS!

That is all.

I slept late and I'm still the first after Bruce.

Happy day to Kerry!

Good morning, all! I slept well and cannot remember a single dream.
This morning I have to meet our paralegal Geri at the McGlinnventory office to finalize this upcoming auction. I haven't seen her since December, and I look forward to it. After that, I'll make a stop at Toyland to check on things and head uptown. I've got plenty of work here.
Kerry, Happy Birthday To You!

Interesting video of Jane Russell and Dinah Shore singing "The Ladies Who Lunch" as a duet.

George, loved the video of Mari Lyn. That's some stunner, from the wig to a few of the notes that she manages to produce.

BK,
Sorry to hear you did not like DRIVE.
I have a copy on the way to me, so we'll see if we agree/disagree.
I will be interested to get your opinion of both ANONYMOUS and TAKE SHELTER.
I liked them both very much, though TAKE SHELTER could lose 20 minutes.

And the word of the day is: IDONEOUS!
And The Song Of The Day Is: MY IDEAL
DR ArnoldMBrockman, the song of the day should be a Victor Herbert one! It's his 153rd birthday today.
-
Happy Birthday to the Donald!!!

TOD: You are going to make STUDIO cast albums of a Rodgers and Hammerstein show, a Jerry Herman show, and a Sondheim show (Sondheim in any capacity: music and lyrics or just lyrics).
Which three shows would you choose, and who would your casts be for each show?

I certainly enjoyed DR JANE's posts and photos yesterday....and DR TCB's comments about his trips.
All that talk about being sick in helicopters made me feel quite queasy.
I've only been in a helicopter once - in New York - but I didn't feel a bit airsick, despite being very quick to suffer from seasickness.
-
Happy Birthday Donald Feltham.
-
Happy Birthday DR KERRY.
-
Bitterly cold today. I went to the mall to get warm but it was freezing there as well. Had a small but delicious chicken ceasar baguette for lunch.
-
TOD:
Why is it neccessary to get up at 6.00 to post new release information?
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Our phone rang at 8:30 this morning with a call from my cardiologist's office. My annual check-up appointment has been rescheduled from today until Monday.
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR Kerry!
-
Happy birthday, also, to Donald Feltham!
-
Happy Birthday to everyone from today and whomever I missed over the past few days. :)

This is the piece I purchased yesterday:
-
It's woven copper, believe it or not, absolutely gorgeous. It catches the light in all sorts of cool ways. I haven't been drawn to an art object like this in years, maybe ever.
-
It's almost 4 feet long and about 2 feet high.
-
In other news, Betsy is not divorcing me after finding out how much it cost. :)
-
Happy Birthday to Donald Feltham!!!

Happy Birthday to DR Kerry!

OMG, is Victor Herbert on HHW now, too? :)

Very nice DR JMK.....where will it reside? How did you get it home when you had a van full of Chinese people?

Very nice DR JMK.....where will it reside? How did you get it home when you had a van full of Chinese people?
It is already hanging on a wall between the dining room and the living room.
The gallery owner bubble wrapped it for me and I just stuck it in the trunk. The Chevy Cobalt has an rather spacious trunk.

Are you going to put a special light on it? I can't tell where the color comes from.....is it paint or enamel or is it burned on?
-
Are you going to put a special light on it? I can't tell where the color comes from.....is it paint or enamel or is it burned on?
I will assume this is directed at me and not new DR Victor Herbert. ;)
We may get track lighting, but it really isn't necessary as there's quite a bit of natural light there. I really can't tell you how she affixed the color to the copper. I'm assuming it's metallurgically applied somehow, or perhaps copper can be fired to different hues. It is woven out of copper and then those woven sheets are bent. It's really an amazing piece.

Good afternoon! I've been all over New York from Park Avenue & 23rd Street to Columbus Avenue and 68th Street. Now that I'm home, I've paid all of my current bills, and I am ready to hit the back with a big check. After that, I've got the a full score and a piano-vocal score to proof.
I need a nap.

Funny then the talk is making you queasy ;)
Do you get airsick? The ride was my idea & I booked it. As the helicopter was taking off I thought what the heck am I doing I can't even look out the window of a plane?"

I bet it looks great in you house. Does Betsy like it as much as you do?
Did anyone comment that you were suppose to be chaperoning, not shopping. ;)

While listening to the Jonathan Schwartz on the 40's station I was once again baffled by his selection of music. Billy Joe's SO IT GOES sung by Karrin Allyson is not 40's music.
It is very pretty.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuqIrb-PDhY

I Have Listened To Jonathan Schwartz For Many Years.New York Stations WNEW,WQEW,WNYC.
He Joined XM /SIRIUS A While Back and was not on Channel 4-40's Music But On The Siriusly Sinatra channel. On That Channel (especially On The Sunday Show) He played not only Sinatra But A Full Spectrum of Styles and Songs from The Great American Songbook including Classical Musical Selections and Stand Up Comedy Routines. He is Very Eclectic and Very Knowledgeable.XM/Sirius Radio has somehow pigeon- holed him on The 40's Station. He Is Much More Than That.

I don't like looking out of a plane window either, despite having done lots of flights. I always get an aisle seat and try to forget that I'm so high up in the sky. I don't suffer from airsickness although last year I felt slightly queasy on a flight due to severe turbulance with drinks being thrown around the cabin.

His show should still be on the Sinatra/Jazz station or at least include an acknowledgement of the non 40's music or vocalist.

My neck is always stiff from turning to look out the plane window. Big commercial planes. Not those little private planes. I won't even get in another one of those again.

I like looking out the window for the view, it is my stomach that doesn't like it. For several hours of our flight to Tahiti it was extremely rocky. Fortunately we rocked side to side without any forward dips or drops. While I didn't feel great it was fairly tolerable. The flight home was nice an smooth.

DR FJL that is one of my favorite LUCY episodes.....including an exchange that fits in with some other posts today:
Ricky: Lancelot....Dancelot.... Who wrote this?
Lucy: Did you ever hear of Victor Herbert?
Ricky: Yes.
Lucy: All right then.
Of course it was written by....as Lucy said earlier:
Lucy: We could save a lot of money if we wrote it.
Ethel: Who is we?
Lucy: We is Lucy Friml and Ethel Romberg!

I was fighting one this morning but am fine now. I hope you feel better soon.

ASK Bk
Where did you find the all the singers for Unsung Irving Berlin and how did you decided who got what song?
Also
Whatever happened to Billy Waring? Wasn't he living with Guy Haines at one point? :-)
-
I hope your headache goes away soon, JRand.
-
DR Laura when did Mr. Goldstein call you?

Which three shows would you choose, and who would your casts be for each show?
R&H would be Flower Drum Song, although it would be hard to beat the original. But for whatever reason, it's my favorite R&H score. And I was very pleased with The King and I we did.
Jerry Herman - none.
Sondheim - oh, Follies, I suppose - just would want my little shot at it. If it were just a recording cast, I'm not sure who I'd go with but it wouldn't be anyone who was in the recent revival.

All this is in the new book. I don't really go into the why I chose who for what song - that's just ephemera really. I just had instincts and went with him. The Billy Waring story is told, however.

I do not like Jonathan Schwartz and here's why: I once went into Footlight Records in the late 1990s and there was Mr. Schwartz selling SEALED promos we and other labels had sent him. SEALED, as in unopened and unplayed. He's been on my merde list ever since.
-
I was up at eight and doing things, then had to be on my way to my appointment, then had to do a bunch of errands and whatnot, then picked up no packages - once again ONTRAC is going to obviously deliver what they have to deliver late this afternoon, but unlike yesterday, I'm in for the rest of the day and it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Betsy loves it. Everyone actually had a "free shopping" morning yesterday in Cannon Beach, which as you probably know, is tiny. The kids were easy to spot and keep track of, and the town was actually otherwise almost completely deserted.

Sadly, if Grandma stays with her tomorrow, she will think suspension is lots more fun than school.

What did you do when you picked her up? Was she really bad or was it the school being overly cautious?
-
I listened to her explanation. Then when we got back, I sat her at the table to start her homework.

My question for BK and everyone:
Did you ever get sent to the principal's office? If so, what for?

This photo was taken just as we were about to depart Bora Bora.

You can see the ships wake in this photo.

Jonathan Schwartz has always struck me as an arrogant twit.

"I first heard about the show from an album [called] 'Shakespeare on Broadway'," Martin told Playbill.com by phone from Cullowhee, NC. "The song that caught my attention was 'Should I Speak of Loving You.' It's beautifully melodic, it has a lovely flow and a sentimental longing to it. It was [intended to be] the hit song of the show…the melody is heard in the entr'acte and exit music."

Well, it's time for me to leave. For the "A Bucket of Blood" rehearsal tonight, we're going to run through act one. We'll probably go through it at least twice (it's a fairly short show...the original movie was only about 66 minutes long!) and work sections that need working. Tomorrow night will be act two. I don't have any lines in act one and not much to do, but I am on stage in two or three scenes. :)
Until later!

Hi Kerry! Happy Birthday!

Kerry, Sandra does not remember saying that pineapple is the new white meat. Do you remember how it came about?
-
Finished with my viewing, shall relax for a few minutes, then continue proofing. I had a nice conversation with muse Margaret and ran by her the little things I want to add and/or slightly rewrite and she was good with all of it.

Hello!
I'm up, I'm up... And...
-
Sorry to post and run, but...
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR KERRY!!!!!
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DONALD!!!!!
-
I've been spending a good part of today getting ready for my trip to Memphis tomorrow. My day started off with playing for a couple of lessons, and while I was in the midst of those lessons I happened to find out that some important papers that were sent out last week were sent to the wrong address. So... I've also been taking care of that situation over the past couple of hours. And since I will be going directly into auditions for The Music Man right after I land back at LGA on Tuesday morning, well... Lots and lots of little things have been on my To Do List for today.
Thankfully, I'm packed for my trip. Almost.
I shall have to "ketchup" tomorrow and/or later.
~~~~~VIBES AND XYLOPHONES TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM~~~~~
Laters...
Goodnight.
-
So, I made it on "Top Chef" tonight with about three seconds of face time. And my favorite chef is still in the running.
-
And now the last episode of "Dexter" before bed.
-
Night, all.
