Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke lovingly of books, and now it is time for you to post until the bookish cows come home.

Could use some vibes for this trip.  Mom was so anxious to leave yesterday morning, she didn't listen to me about leaving the suitcase for me to carry, and when she went outside she fell backwards and hit her hip and head on my cement porch and stone pillar.  She screamed and I heard her upstairs in the house.  We were all in shock and mom has a scrape on her head.  Dad wanted to cancel the trip, but mom didn't want to.  I cleaned up the scrape and we went to breakfast to give her another half hour to see if we should go or stay and get her to see a doctor.   Luckily she rebounded well, knew all the answers to the basic questions, had an appetite and wasn't sick to her stomach etc.  I think her body caught most of the fall and she just scraped her head, but she's sore.  Haven't seen her this morning, so I hope she's able to get around today

As soon as we started our trip we saw a bald eagle, something you don't see in Sioux City, so I told them that was a good omen and we were off. Mom felt better as the day wore on, sore as expected, but nothing too bad

It's more than an 8 hour drive to get here.  It was a very long day, so we just checked into the hotel and spent time with my sister's family. Today we'll get the tour of the tornado damage from Joe and my nephew and go to the Rebuild Joplin store.  Tonight is the rehearsal dinner and tomorrow is the wedding.   It's now supposed to snow on Monday, lol, so I have a feeling we may be here longer than expected.   That's fine with me if it happens.

Good morning, all! I will short;y be in a taxi carting me and a huge carton to Toyland. Once there, I leave the carton, print out the latest DEAREST ENEMY score and hie myself back uptown to sepnd the day proofreading.

It should be a quiet day.

DR Jose, I am so sorry to hear about your friend's death.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vibes to Cillaliz for her travels and travails! and good weekend vibes for all! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks Ben, she was so excited about the trip I think she got ahead of herself.  I also think she was turning around to shut the door so the cats wouldn't get out and forgot about the step.   I'm glad I was there because other than being sore, she was fine on the trip and has been very excited to be here and see her great granddaughters.   If I hadn't been there, dad would have cancelled the trip
Mom is going to give a program on the tornado for her PEO chapter, so today is all research for her.   We need to stop at Walmart and get her a handheld tape recorder so she can review what she's been told about the tornado.
Thanks Elmore.  I'm not concerned about her head anymore.  She's actually gone out of her way to demonstrate how sharp her mind is, lol. She's doing much better than she was at Christmastime and getting away from the fire recovery at the house is good for both of them.  I'm more concerned about her hip today.   Oh, I heard a door that sounds like it's next door better go see if they are up.
Thanks JRand.  It was honestly VERY scary. But I'm very glad we continued the trip and haven't had any problems since.  I think we'll be ok.  I also think i have my mind around the fact we may not be leaving until Tuesday.  Guess I'll go see if we could stay an extra day if necessary.
Mom's up and moving around this morning.  She's mostly worried about how her hair looks in back.  We'll get it looking fine for the wedding with a little water and a blow dryer.   When I told them about the forecast, dad said "this is one of those trips you want to write about later" lol.  I think all is well.  Now as soon as the 100 or so Special Olympians staying at the hotel finish in the breakfast area, we can get something to eat
Greetings from Toyland! The advantage of a taxi at 8am on Saturday or Sunday is the limited amount of traffic. The ride down here this morning cost me about what I would have paid three years ago during a busy day.
I've dropped off, I've printed, and I guess I'm heading for an uptown bus.
I'm listening to the fantastic new boxed set of Marcos Valle albums.  Marcos and his brother Paul Sergio are sometimes called the Gershwins of Bossa Nova (by me, if by no one else ;) ), and this new set is a compendium of all of Marcos' albums from 1963 to 1974.  His name may not be familiar to some of you, but you've heard his music--he wrote Summer Samba (a huge hit for Walter Wanderley and a chart hit for several Americans with a lyric as So Nice), The Face I Love (a big hit for Andy Williams), and Crickets Sing for Anamaria, among many, many others.  Wonderful, wonderful stuff.
Got this from a friend in case anyone has been curious to see the Merm in this rare dramatic performance:
"Antenna TV, Channel 166, on Time Warner.
Note: The show is literally 4 AM on Sunday Morning, February 12 -- so set to record before you go to sleep, or stay awake tonight and see it.  If you don't live in New York, see if your local cable company carries Antenna TV.
TWIXT THE CUP AND LIP
1965 Color Kraft Suspense Theatre
also starring Larry Blyden
4AM Antenna Ch. 166 on Time Warner Cable, Manhattan."
My library is starting a fast reads section. You get a book for 7 days, no renewals. $2/day fine and no reservations. The odd thing is you can only take out 1 book per card.
Not sure exactly what books they will have. The books have not been put out yet. But I did see Lisa Gardner's new book is slated to be there. And I saw James Patterson's new book is gonna be there. Maybe it will just be the most popular authors.
A fine of $2 a day??  Last year (or maybe the year before), our library started charging fines for the first time in its 40+ year history and they were concerned that people would be upset at a fine of 15¢ a day!
But this fine is only for the special books.  There should be a higher fine if these are late.  In Michigan we paid 50 cents to check new best sellers which was fine with me.  I don't remember what the late fine was as I never needed to pay it.
What have you cleaned it with so far?  I would begin with vinegar & water.  If that doesn't work add baking soda to the mix.  Be sure to leave the door open for awhile.
I've been watching the new Netflix exclusive, LILYHAMMER. I tuned in thinking it was a thriller--wasn't it billed as that somewhere??--but it's actually quite amusing. It's available either by streaming or discs. It's about a US mob guy who turns in his boss, then goes into the witness protection program--in Norway.
Could use some vibes for this trip.  Mom was so anxious to leave yesterday morning, she didn't listen to me about leaving the suitcase for me to carry, and when she went outside she fell backwards and hit her hip and head on my cement porch and stone pillar.  She screamed and I heard her upstairs in the house.  We were all in shock and mom has a scrape on her head.  Dad wanted to cancel the trip, but mom didn't want to.  I cleaned up the scrape and we went to breakfast to give her another half hour to see if we should go or stay and get her to see a doctor.   Luckily she rebounded well, knew all the answers to the basic questions, had an appetite and wasn't sick to her stomach etc.  I think her body caught most of the fall and she just scraped her head, but she's sore.  Haven't seen her this morning, so I hope she's able to get around today
Healing (and pain-free) vibes for Cilla's mom!
My library is starting a fast reads section. You get a book for 7 days, no renewals. $2/day fine and no reservations. The odd thing is you can only take out 1 book per card.
Not sure exactly what books they will have. The books have not been put out yet. But I did see Lisa Gardner's new book is slated to be there. And I saw James Patterson's new book is gonna be there. Maybe it will just be the most popular authors.
A fine of $2 a day??  Last year (or maybe the year before), our library started charging fines for the first time in its 40+ year history and they were concerned that people would be upset at a fine of 15¢ a day!
This is only for dvds and this new fast reads program. Regular books are i think 25 cents a day.
