Well, you've read the notes, you'd druther have read the notes than not read the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - if they had their druthers they'd druther have their druthers than come home.

And the word of the day is: CORDATE!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning. Nothing more to say, however, at least at this moment.
-
Except Happy Valentine's Day
-
Good morning, all! And Happy Valentine's Day!
I slept rather well, and there were no spectacular dreams wonderful, terrifying, or plain crazy to ponder. I am thinking about today's events and what must be accomplished. The first item on the agenda is a trek to Toyland to check on the place. Then, it's back here to work on ROBERTA for a bit.
More coffee!
-
It's that day!

Still not feeling so well....so ZUMBA is only a maybe this evening.
We shall see.

Happy Valentine's Day from [Robert] Indiana. ;D
-
Happy Birthday, Arizona! One Hundred Years Old!
-
That's a great card DR KERRY!!!
-
DR ELMORE where do you keep Roberta when you are not working on her?
-
Happy Valentine's Day to everyone at HHW!
-
I think the Hirschfeld type cover is most interesting!!!
-
I also like the Hirschfeld idea.
If your guy doesn't work out, I have a guy that I could put you in touch with who does great Hirschfeld-like work.
In fact, he was a protege of Hirschfeld.
He did the cover and the drawings in my ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD book.
-
DR ELMORE where do you keep Roberta when you are not working on her?
In two cartons. She's huge.
-
I'm off to Toyland.
-
Good morning, all. And Happy VD.

I'm not quite sure I like the sound of that. :)

Valentine's Day greetings! We have snow on the ground and gray skies today. Think I'll stay in and finish my book group book (THE FORGOTTEN GARDEN by Kate Morton) and watch last night's episode of SMASH.

Today is a staff meeting at church and it's a b-day of one of our priests. One of our priests is Gluten Free, so made a gluten-free cake (from a mix). To find out, the GF priest is missing the staff meeting today. This cake had better be good!!
-
LOL DR MATTHEW.......good luck.

Yes DR DtM - and the circumstances make it even more distressing.

Page #2 dance to a great song for today (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGzYWrn-XGM)
-
DR JRand - yeah, the batter tasted blech.
-
I watched the last half hour of SMASH last night - and it was okay. As DR JOSE wrote to appease me - the songs are very Broadway NOW - although I think they are really BETTER than what I hear on some CD's from some of the shows I hear today.
I used to buy CAST ALBUMS just because I wanted the Broadway experience - but having been burned SO many times in the last 10 years or so - FLOYD COLLINS, IN THE HEIGHTS, THE LAST FIVE YEARS, RENT - I rarely bother anymore. And if a composer whose work that I didn't like the first time does a "new" show - I still let it be......JRB I am talking to you.
When I bought CAST ALBUM LP's, I could usually find something I liked.....GOLDEN RAINBOW, MAN WITH A LOAD OF MISCHIEF....but no so much with the new CD's.
In other words....I may stick with SMASH in spite of DM.

My wife and I have enjoyed the first 2 episodes of SMASH, though the scene last night between Debra Messing and her son was terrible.
As good as the show is, I will be surprised if it succeeds with the general public.
-
I only saw the last 30 minutes, so I must have missed that scene DR DRUXY.....but I am sure its awfulness was matched by the final scene with Messing reading her letter to the mother of her [maybe] adopted daughter.

Well, so far anyway, it's doing fine:
NBC's Broadway-themed drama ''Smash'' dropped off as expected from its strong week-earlier premiere but still had enough to lead its hour among young adults on Monday, capping a winning night for the net, whose ''The Voice'' continues to look impressive.
According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, NBC followed up last Monday's post-Super Bowl ratings bonanza with another sweep of the night's half-hours in adults 18-49 (including one tie). As the blind auditions continued on ''The Voice,'' the music competition averaged a strong 5.9 rating/15 share in adults 18-49 and 16.1 million viewers overall , down 12% week to week but an easy timeslot winner over runner-up CBS among adults 18-49 (5.9 vs. 3.6) and the night's No. 1 program across the board. And at 10, ''Smash'' (2.8/7 in 18-49, 8.1 million viewers overall) lost about a quarter of its premiere young-adult audience but prevailed in 18-49 in an hour where NBC was consistently well behind its rivals in the first half of the season.
-
No I didn't DR JMK - I think I've seen it on TCM.....wonder how Fran and Mr Flynn got along on the radio?
-
I had completely forgot about SMASH last night--I was watching MAUDE reruns instead. I should be able to catch it on-line somewhere.

I had an unexpected and pleasant meeting w/Dear Larry this afternoon at lunch. He was meeting Anthony for some business and I tagged along and we met at Trader Joe's. While there we purchased a chocolate cake and a can of whipped cream for dessert this evening.
-
Damn....I keep looking for a LIKE button.
-
It was great to see DR Ben and anthony, and, since no good deed foes upunished, the trip home was endless crap: screwd up trains constantly stopping in the tunnels, missing an empty bus and waiting fidsteen minutes for a crowded one, and the final insult? Th damned bus wouldn't take a transfer on my metro card so I paid an extra fare.
This is happening far too often: Ican cpount at least four times in the past month the MTA mechanics have screwed up a transfer and charged me twice. Color me really pissed.
-
Those ratings contain so much spin I'm dizzy and nauseous - tell me the overall ratings for the show and I guarantee you the drop from the first episode will be much larger.
-
I'm up - I guess I needed to sleep. Now I'm a little behind in the fixes but shall start now and plow through.
-
I had completely forgot about SMASH last night--I was watching MAUDE reruns instead. I should be able to catch it on-line somewhere.
I totally forgot about it, too!
-
I am so sick of the Whitney Huston brouhaha. Just bury her.
-
Debra Messing will be very upset with you DR ELMORE and DR DtM......I hope she is in a forgiving mood.
-
Does anyone but the producers even look at the ratings? People don't know a damn thing of what's good anymore. Take "Glee" for an example....
-
Raquel welch has just outed Stephen Boyd. Maybe he wasn't gay, and just didn't want to have sex with untalented divas?
I just saw the Classical Grammy wins. Judy Sherman, our producer for EILEEN, the Herbert songs and cello/piano music, won best producer this week. I'm really happy for her.

Very nice DR ELMORE.

TCB - Thanks so much for your email.
Is that production of OKLAHOMA doing well, as far as you're hearing?

TCB - Did i miss the day where you passed 29000? Congrats on that millstone.

Hello, everyone.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!
-
Fred, I must tell you that I sent a copy of your FLY ME IN THE NUDE to a friend the other day. Not only did he enjoy it, but I laugh every time I hear it--and I've heard it many times. It is my favorite of your parodies.
-
And how have I spent Valentine's Day? At the dentist! Am I lucky or am I lucky? Actually, it wasn't any of the awful stuff, and the dentist and I discussed what to do about the mysterious erosion problem I have. In over fifty years of practicing, he's never seen this before. He told his assistant to be sure we have good photos of my teeth, partly to monitor the condition and partly because he wants to show them to his students. He teaches at UCLA. Such notoriety I'll have! (I never get ordinary ailments.)

I was living in Colorado at the time of its centennial and the country's bicentennial in 1976. I remember that they had this huge scroll and everyone who was there could sign it. It was going to be put in a time capsule at the top of Pike's Peak and opened in 2076, at Colorado's bicentennial.
I signed it five times. :D

THIS (http://www.defendingthetruth.com/topic/10046-mormons-attempt-to-hide-temple-baptism-for-hitler/) link to a political forum has some interesting links in the first post...very interesting.

The little buddy I used to take out on Adventures is a Mormon. One night he told me he had to get back in time for the baptism for the dead, in which he was taking part. I told him if he baptized me after I'm dead, I will haunt him.
;D

DR Jane I still have the cold but it's not so bad. I just feel tired and have a runny nose.
Good.

Is there one more "Downton Abbey" episode this season? Or was this week's the last? Anybody now?
There are 8 this season. I've been watching the UK version from iTunes and I just got the 7 and 8 on Monday. I don't know about PBS, but if you count, there should be 8

Mormons apologize for posthumous Jewish baptism (http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/news-general/20120214/US.Baptizing.the.Dead/).

Why the want Hitler is beyond me. It is sort of creepy.

And personally, I don't know how I'm going to make it until next Fall for Season Three of "Downton Abbey" it's like crack. Not that I'd know what crack is like, but... whatever.
Valentine's Day dinner if the DP ever gets home from work - T-Bones, brocolli, and These Little Beauties (http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/three-cheese-mini-macs)
-
Have a nice evening DR Matthew. The mini macs look good.

G'night!

G'night, TCB. Sweet dreams.

The mini-macs look great, Matthew.
As for "Downton Abbey," it is crack. Crack with Ben & Jerry's Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream on top.
-
Watching "The Imposters" with Stanley Tucci, Oliver Platt and way too many good people in a movie that's just not funny enough.
-
I've been watching videos of the individual breeds on the Westminster site. For some reason the Bernese Mountain Dogs won't work. I expect I can watch tomorrow. There are a couple of dogs I want to see.

DR ELMOORE
I probably missed you posting this, but did you go see The Most Happy Fella @ NYU? I understand they used a lot of the material that was dropped prior to opening of the original production. Did they use any of your orchestrations?

Is there one more "Downton Abbey" episode this season? Or was this week's the last? Anybody now?
With minor trepidation I will be accused of having spoiled something, there is a "Christmas Special" which is kind of like the ninth episode of the season. Since we went ahead with watching it on BD, I'm not sure what they broadcast last week--if it involved some illness, that was probably the eighth episode, so there should be one more.
-
I have been utterly unable to take part in Criterion's 50% off sale despite their assurances their website is "fixed."

That is a dangerous sale.

I saw a Christmas tree in an image from something upcoming, but I couldn't tell if that were next episode or next season.

I'm just not sure what PBS is doing with this, but I can tell you on the BD there is a ninth episode listed as a "Christmas special." Perhaps it was broadcast over Christmas in the UK, plus it takes place partially at Christmastime. It's a wonderful wrap up to the season, you'll love it.

In fact Betsy has been repeatedly watching snippets of it over and over for the past several days. ;)

Dang! ! You spoiled it for me ---- I was looking forward to guessing which of your family members repeatedly watched snippets of this episode!

I spent Valentines Day at work and Valentine's evening at the doctor's office - he agreed with the self diagnosis of a sinus infection and ear infection and prescribed antibiotics

By time I had picked up my meds it was after 8 PM - Vixter was out so I picked up Five Guys Burgers and fries for Vixdad and myself

and now I am watching the ending of Summertime

call me hopelessly old fashioned but I somehow found the close up of her lone shoe on the patio followed by a shot of the fireworks overhead more romantic and scintillating the the full scale soft porn scenes of today's films

Happy Valentines Day to one and all and also all and one

I love "Summertime." Haven't seen it in years.

Zina's age surprised me, too, and doesn't seem right.

I have literally been entering fixes all day long, save for lunch and a trip to the mail place. The only breaks I've had were a phone conversation with muse Margaret, going over stuff from the first half of the book, and watching the second half of the Woody Allen documentary. I'm going to take a shower now - somehow I thought I'd be further along, but I have another two hundred pages to go.
