Well, you've read the notes, the notes were perfectly pleasant, and now it is time for you to post until the perfectly pleasant cows come home.

Yesterday, Jane asked (in reference to Danise's "Anderson" episode):
Quote
DR George at the end of the Anderson show does he mention where the clothes come from?

I'll have to check later.  It's too late to find out now. ;)

I've seen it locally twice.  I love this show and the score!  I LOVED Rupert's show "Remember WENN" on the old American Movie Classics (before it became just AMC).  I wish that Kritzerland could release some of the songs or even the show on DVD and/or Blu-ray.  It's never been released at all!  What's that all about??

Yes, thank you all.  We are fine.  My home is about 20 minutes west of Indy....and our shop in near Greenwood - we got some hail, but not much.  Heavy rain in the morning and early afternoon, but that's about all.  High winds, but nothing damaging.

The small towns destroyed are down south near the Ohio River....very sad.....several people were killed, they are saying - but of course they haven't even gotten to all of the areas yet to search.

Larry, we are down to the last 6 episodes of Duchess of Duke Street.

I had no idea how much the "conshies" or conscientious objectors were derided and disliked! But in the end the jerk career Sergeant is the one who looks like an idiot and he gets his comeuppance!

I am super excited. I am a big musical theatre fan. There used to be a lot of big musicals here. Then it stopped. Shrek the musical is coming here in two weeks. And they just put up a 2 for 1 ad in the paper today. My mom got tix for me, my mom, sister and niece to go. I guess tix were not selling well cause we got 8th row.  The thing is who wants to pay $80-100 for a little kid.

DR Ben - thanks for your comments about Studio 54.  We'll be in Row EE (first row of Mid-Mezzanine), aisle seats in the center section on May 22 for HARVEY.  We could have sat in the last row of the front mezzanine, but those seats would have cost $50/each more and I didn't think it was worth it.

Ok, I've got to share what was in my package......a used piccolo I got on eBay!  Our piccolo player in band may not be at the next concert, so I said if she can't be there I'd do it.   Then I got out my piccolo and let's just say it was great in a 250 member marching band outside, but inside it was pretty shrill on the high notes and it was actually pretty difficult to play.  So, I got a nice piccolo at a really good price. It was recommended to my by a local piccolo player as her standard go to piccolo.    It came today and is in perfect shape.  I'm very happy about it.  Now I'm comfortable that I have the horns I need to be able to play the way I want to play.  :)

Also Wicked is coming here in August. I have really wanted to see this. My sister got me a ticket for my birthday. And she is getting my mom a ticket for Mother's Day.

Can she get me a ticket for Father's Day?

JRand, good to see you are ok,  I thought the bad part was south of you, but you never know what came up for someone during the day, where people are or what they are doing at the moment a storm hits, so I' glad you checked in.

I received a long e-mail this morning from my good friend who lives in Dallas, Georgia.  Last night was a terrifying night for the people in that part of Georgia.  At one point, the tornado was one street away from him.

My engineer just picked up a bunch of hard drives that contain three different STAGE shows that we'll be issuing - they'll all come out in a row, one a month, beginning end of April.  Bacharach, Sondheim, and Lloyd Webber are the shows.

Other than Promises Promises what other STAGE show did Bacharach write?

I received in the mail a load of grey market DVDrs of old B movies....just watched THE SCARLET HOUR starring Carol Ohmart and Tom Tryon.

Wonderful plot! Would have been a great movie for Barbara Stanwyck.

I am wondering if this might be among the Paramount B movies that BK may be doing CDs from...it certainly had some nice, dramatic music

Too heavy, maybe? The soprano is an 18 year-old operetta heroine, and it ought to be a light flexible voice, I'm also concerned about their English diction. Opera singers sing on the vowels, pop singers on the consonants. I need an Irish Barbara Cook or Jo sullivan.

It's Roundabout, DR TCB, so I'd call it a limited engagement.  Jim Parsons from BIG BANG THEORY is playing Elwood P. Dowd.  He's one of our TV favorites.  The only other time I've seen HARVEY on stage was 1970 in Ann Arbor - the cast included James Stewart and Helen Hayes.

Congratulations on your new piccolo.  Have fun playing it.

Oh instruments on eBay.  Super scary... as in, so many to choose from and a lot of the times they go for a steal.  Dangerous place to go :)

I've had it work out and not work out.  I found if I go for the ones that are really cheap , I usually get what I pay for or they are good instruments but need work that will make them more expensive than if I had just paid a little  more and gotten on that has been checked over before being listed.   The piccolo came from a highly rated seller and she said it had been checked out, serviced etc.  It was buy it now for what is a good "used" price.  I could have gotten the same one cheaper, but this looked like it was in better shape.

I got a cheap sax a while back.  It needs new everything.  I think I'm going to contact the intstrument repair training program and see what it would cost to let them use it for practice.  If I can't get it back, I may just donate it

Congratulations on your new piccolo.  Have fun playing it.

Thanks!

I'm glad your friend is ok.

I stumbled across this web site today.

http://www.loveshoulddie.com/LSD/Main.html

I thought it was pretty funny, but I think I agree with the sentiment.  The only song from the show that I like is "Till I Hear You Sing."  And I prefer the You Tube version that is from a live perfromance by Ramin Karimloo at West End Live, rather than the one in the context of the show.

Yes he is.  And he also fills out a t-shirt very nicely.

That looks really good. And with Nat "King" Cole as guest star and Michael Curtiz directing, it sounds like it has a few possibilities.

Except Tom Tryon looks like a corpse in that photo.

He is probably trying to do his best to not have to lock lips with a girl....if you get my drift.

Not sure if they realized that the prices they were charging were ridiculous. I really think that $10 is the most that should be charged for an ebook. But I still find it too expensive. Because the book deposistory is selling the same books new and harcover with free shipping for maybe $11. I think ebooks should be much cheaper than what it costs to get a hardcover.

Thanks Jennifer.  I had checked that the price was the same for the Kindle.  I was concerned the price might drop after the book comes out.  I prefer to wait to order it from my local store which doesn't offer a pre-order option.  I also found a $2.99 eBook from the author that isn't mentioned on her website.  I will likely give it a try & hope it is as good as the one from Lisa Gardner.

My friend's songs, which were quite wonderful, closed the first half of the concert, so I waited around for her, spoke to a couple of friends, and left as the second half began. I heard soe wonderful pianists and some good Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff I'd not heard before. But I was tired, and I am gld to be home.

I agree.  I can get a hardback book at goodwill for maybe two bucks and paperback for a dollar.  Much as I like to read, I do not have a nook or other type of reader, even though I can download them as free app on my phone.  For the price on one ebook, I can buy several and I always find something good to read.  Then I can either give the book back or take it to work and put it on the share shelf.

I feel the same way Danise, only these shoulders of mine insist I use the Nook instead.  Switching has greatly reduced the pain so it is worth the cost to me as much as a cringe every time I purchase an eBook.

Back from a wonderful but VERY noisy dinner at Bird's.  I thought at 4:45 there would be no one there, but it was jammed (we got the last booth) and the volume level is ridiculous there - PLUS loud music.  But, oh, was the food great.  Melody, who doesn't like onion rings could not believe how great the Bird's onion rings are - and she ate about five of them.  Mom Hollis wasn't with us - she was a bit under the weather.

Our stumble-through was a little rough, thanks to some musical meltdowns from our MD.  I think he probably didn't look at or practice this stuff since our last rehearsal on Thursday, so on four or five songs he was completely at sea for parts of them and therefore left the poor singers out to dry.  We worked for almost forty-five minutes after - the good news is we will run every one of those problem numbers at the soundcheck and it will at least then be fresh in his mind and I'm sure we'll be fine.  Biggest hand of the day went to Melody's rather astonishing rendition of Tchaikowsky (And Other Russians).

Yes, last fall I started flute playing again in our local area community concert band.  It's mostly band directors and retired band directors and those of us who are there just because we love to play.  I bought an alto flute in January and just started playing with a flute choir in a nearby town.  Don't know if I'll play the picc a lot, but I always liked to play it so I'll play it for myself if no one else.

Well, I got me some Chinese food and sat down to watch 300 SPARTANS. It was an 112 minute movie which I watched in about 28 minutes...it was bad...really bad...so I fast forwarded until Barry Coe's scenes came on...watched them, then fast forwarded some more.

The only person who came away from this film not looking totally silly was Diane Baker. She was able to handle the very silly dialogue much better then the rest of the cast.

And with 300 spartans, you would think that there would be at least a few shirtless moments....but no...it was such a bad movie.
