BK -- there is no one who cares about our mail situation.

And the post office lessens the quality of the service overall, then wonders why it's making less revenue (since people are using other methods even beyond email), and then since it's making less revenue, they further lessen the quality of the service overall, then wonder even further why it's making less revenue (since people are using other methods even beyond email), and then since it's making less revenue.....  :)  :)  :)

Good morning, all! I slept well until around 2:30am, after which I tossed, turned and fretted. As a result, when the alarm went off at 6:30 I had no irge to face any day, and I finally got out of bed around 8:00. Itwas nice to find an emailwaiting for me about the cuttent status of our DR TCB's recovery, and I'm happy he's progressing so nice.

DR Dan(the Man), I hope all is going well for both you and your mother.

DR Der Brucer, I am starting to worry about my eyes; yesterday, I went through a batch ofDEARST ENEMY corrections with the copyist, and I gave him wrong bar numbers for every correction. So, when you mentioned the word "advicee" I went to Amazon, corrected that, rewrote one sentence and added another. Thank you.

More coffee.

And meds.

Thanks, DR JRand!  I went through my closet one more time last night and found a surprising match for the new jacket - something my late mother-in-law made for me about 20 years ago as a prototype before cutting into the really expensive material.  I've gotten way more use out of the prototype than the "real thing."

But I'll check Fashion Bug, too, for future reference!

Do any of you horticulturalists know anything about Daphne?  I got a beautiful Daphne shrub last year, but our recent snow split it into three parts.  I called the nursery and they said to just bind it together with gardening tape and it would regraft, which I did, but I had to cut off a big branch that was simply too broken to keep with the main bush.  So I am wondering if that branch will root if I stick it in dirt?  Does Daphne do that?

Just had a discussion with David Galligan about this very thing - I think the plan is going to be to try and use almost all of the second act in its entirety and then add to it three or four of the Promises songs - that will solve all problems.

So, I now need to get my mind wrapped around a job opportunity that has just come up. It would mean a bit more money. I would still be a contract writer, but it does come with health insurance. It sounds like fun, too. And since it is online, I might be able to do it from San Antonio without relocation. The home office is out of Atlanta, which means that if I had to move, the extra money would not be enough to cover the higher cost of living there.

So I am wondering if that branch will root if I stick it in dirt?  Does Daphne do that?

Internet ramblings:

LINK ONE (http://seidelbast.net/cultivation.html#Propagation)

Quote
The rootless cuttings should not lose turgidity.

An off-sun-protected site for the next few weeks is mandatory. Not the substrate moisture is allowed to be high, but the humidity. Damp, unvented conditions must be avoided, otherwise occurs decay.

For those who cannot meet these needs in summer, offers the autumn the time to make Daphne cuttings.

In the first step of the rooting process a callus will formed on the wound surface. In the next time will grow the roots from there. At first they are still white, later, develops the brown root bark. If a portion of the root has its brown colour, the cuttings can be potted.

LINK TWO (http://www.plant-care.com/daphne.html)

Quote
Propagation is by seeds, cuttings, layers, and sometimes by root-grafting on Daphne mezereum.

Good News:

"On the other hand my Dad once stuck a bit in the ground which had been
in someones buttonhole at a wedding, and it rooted, so YOU might be
lucky too."

Bad News:

"All parts of daphne are toxic if ingested and contact with the sap may cause skin irritation."

Hey Mike Barnum - any Easter Bunnies in your S&P colletion?

der Brucer

No easter bunnies.... An "egg and baby chick" set that I just bought at Shopko and an "easter egg" set that I bought some years ago, but that is about it for this holiday, I think.

Would you believe I have a friend in Orange County, California who has never seen snow?  Having grown up in Buffalo, it's hard for me to fathom.

Having grown up in So. California it is hard for me to fathom.  You can drive up to the snow, play for a few hours and return home.

Considering how many times I've been the the New City of York in March and February and it never showed up.  It was cold.  I'll grant you that but no white stuff flying in the air or on the ground.

Vibes for DR TCB, Dan (the Man) and his Mother!

Gotta scoot.  Have a good evening all!

It's not as bad as they say it was. It's not great and I don't know who they have cast in the leads but there are some well done moments. Nathan Lane was excellent but he's not doing the tour. The music is OK, nothing special but the opening number

When You're An Addams (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8WsxXKGEGg&feature=related)

was a lot of fun.

This is the clip from the Letterman show.

I saw "The Addams Family" and wasn't too impressed, but I've heard that changes have been made and it's doing pretty well on the road.  And Douglas Sills is now starring --I'd like to see him as Gomez.  So when it comes to Washington, I may see it again.

I actually really liked Memphis. It got mixed reviews but it worked for me. Montego Glover was robbed of a Tony for Best Actress, IMHO. She's still in the Broadway show so if you see Memphis, you won't see her.

I haven't seen Sister Act so I can't comment but the Brits love it. My friend in Middlesbrough plays it on her radio show frequently.

Of course, I did not pay full price for Addams Family and I got a free ticket for Memphis. I know the prices for road tours are getting to be as outrageous as Broadway prices so if you're going to pay $90 for Addams you might not like it so much.

I saw "Memphis" at the movie theaters and it was well acted and enjoyable, but I wanted more. I bought the DVD but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

I think "Sister Act" would be a crowd pleaser. Not mentally taxing but a lot of fun.

I think Jerry Zaks is generally a good director, so I would trust that he's been able to whip some more shape into "Addams Family." I hear he got rid of the octopus that was supposedly not funny in the Broadway production. And I like Sara Gettlefinger, who's playing Morticia.

Back from mixing - we finished the Bacharach.  Act two was MUCH easier and we have plenty of room for our four Promises tracks and still have it be one CD - and they'll really help because of sixteen numbers in act two, fifteen are ballads.

Yesterday, I went to a new place called Pepper Jack.  They have Philly cheesesteaks and burgers.  I asked for a pepperjack cheese cheeseburger, but the woman taking my order gave me a pepperjack cheese cheesesteak.  I don't care for them, but it wasn't too bad at all...and the bread was very soft and very good.
