Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the Hills of Beverly, and now it is time for you to post until the Beverly Hills cows come home.

There was once a stripper named Miss Beverly Hills - she gave the Hills of Beverly a whole new meaning.

Busy day. I have two meetings, a dentist appointment (for which I'm taking half a sick day) and then after the dentist I'm going to a goodbye event for someone from our office who is leaving after 20 years. Then tomorrow the fun begins because we go to DC for the weekend.

I was up early to take my car in for servicing. Left it at the garage and then went into the nearby mall for breakfast of fried egg, bacon, sausage and mushroom.  Now hoping that they don't find anything wrong with it.

Good morning, all!  At 9:00 I turned off the lights and went to bed. I did not get 9.5 hours of sleep, unfortunately, because it was a rather unpleasant night of discomfort, but I'm sure I slept at least 7.5 hours.  This morning I see my doctor, and I am guessing there are tests to be taken.

After that, I will head to Toyland for a while and work on ROBERTA. The Man From Philadelphia has not sent the last invoice check, which has me concerned, and he's not responded to my last email. I may need to investigate the situation today.

I finished reading Time and Again, which was quite wonderful. I was amazed, because I had liked the book so much in 1979, that I'd forgotten nearly everything about it in thirty years except for the dismantled Stature of Liberty in Madison Square Park and the leading characters hiding from the police in its arm.  I'm debating what book to take with me today, A Good And Happy Child by Justin Evans, which may be a horror novel, or Collision, a backstage memoir by Ron Bruguiere.

Yipee!! DAVID AND BATHSHEBA have has arrived. The dreaded broken center spindle sydrome struck - every single tooth was broken! I'm used to it though - it doesn't matter how well CDs are packaged - and I keep plenty of spare jewel cases.

Not my first hamburger but I did find out what Kosher was.

I was at a birthday party. It was a bowling one and afterwards there was hamburgers and hot dogs. I had a hamburger and I requested a glass of milk. One of the other kids said. "Milk and meat! Yuch! That's not Kosher!" When I asked what that meant. She said you're not supposed to eat meat with milk and when I asked why of course she could't give me an answer. I had to wait until I got home to ask my mother what that meant.

OMG the notes!

I was clinging to every word about the Hills of Beverly.  I've got these window cleaners coming soon, and after they're gone, in a few hours, I will post my response.  Also:

(BK):  How long are you here - we simply must have a get-together.

Yes!  I'd intended to post what I know about my itinerary last night, but had to call it a night and leave it for today.  Will get that done this afternoon.

I guess I know one thing I won't be doing while I'm in town:  revisiting the Hills of Beverly.

Oh, just one thing before I sign off for a while --

BK:  Hunter's Books.  Is that the one you couldn't think of?

Martindale's on the north side of Little Santa Monica, Hunter's on the SW corner of LSM and whichever Drive.  If I'm remembering it right.

And Hunter's also had the store in Westwood.

TOD:

My first experience of a hamburger was a Wimpy in about 1963. They started up a chain in the UK in the '50s. I loved those original Wimpys which included fried onions, and a toasted bun. They don't do them like that now - and there aren't many Wimpys left (they are now owned by the business which also runs Burger King).

TOD: I'm sure the first burger I ever had was at home or a church event. I remember realizing as a kid of about 7 or 8 that I had never been to a McDonald's before. We just didn't eat out, and we certainly didn't eat out at places where the food was what Mom prepared at home. What a letdown chain hamburgers were. I remember a few local chains like Burger Chef and Burger Queen, and not liking them.

Favorite toppings: Bacon, egg and avocado. Never ketchup, always mustard and maybe a touch of mayo.

When I was very young - see Hot Dog Story from yesterday - my aunt & uncle owned a little gas station/restaurant in the little southern Indiana town of Mill Grove....which is just a bump in the road on Indiana State Road 67.  But my Aunt Ruby could make the BEST hamburgers EVER.  They weren't round, they were sort of square to fit on a piece of white bread....and she smashed them as flat as could be.....loved visiting their business and having a hamburger with dill pickles.....

TOD:  Had lots of great burgers over the years.  The place not to get a great burger is most fast food chains.  Where a hot dog is mustard, a burger is catsup.  A nice thick slice of Bermuda onion and perhaps some melted swiss cheese...and that's makes me happy.   BK, I was always a fan of ASTRO BURGER in LA.

BK,

What a depressing column about Beverly Hills.  But, the truth is that, it was pretty much that way before I moved to Austin in 2009.

I have the same depressing attitude toward Seattle.  The downtown has changed so much.  All of the wonderful majestic movie palaces (e.g. the Orpheum) where I spent so many hours when I was a kid are now gone.  It's one of the reasons why I've been reluctant to return home for a visit.  I prefer the memory.

DR elmore - I hope your doctor visit and your new meds help to alleviate your malaise.

I wrote this one during my Aetna ST. VINCENT Malaise:

Actually, Jrand, I'm sure you know this "real song" - but is I LOVE THE NIGHTLIFE an obscure song?  Wondering whether this is too much of an oldie, though it was in PRISCILLA.

This one is about all the other shows like PRISCILLA begging Michael (Riedel) to write about them so they can be financial hits like SPIDER-MAN:

Actors in less-publicized shows plead with Michael to  make jokes about them for the attention.

WE LOVE THE SPOTLIGHT  (tune of Priscilla’s  I LOVE THE NIGHTLIFE)

Please make jokes about us now, Mike
Please make jokes and a sweet fuss
Please make jokes, we hope you do
‘Bout all the hazards we go through
Ah, please make jokes about all the gowns we tear
When we do cartwheels and flips
We wanna be in your little quips
We’ve had no frac-tures
But did have a sprain

Frac-tures, no, but we’ve had some pain
You kidded Spidey, come on and kid us too
Oh, oh, ow! Oh, oh, ow! Oh, oh, oh, owwww!

We love the spotlight, we’d love it Boobie
So spread the dissing round, oh yeah  (repeat chorus)

Please don't joke about them now, Mike
Your sweet jokes could give us a spike
Seems your jokes gets lots of play
The folks repeat each thing you say.
You can joke about our stereotype
Honey that’ll get, huh, us plenty of hype
We hope your staffers give us a chance
We’ve got some act-TORS
Hungry for press

Act-TORS, who look great in a dress
You kidded Spidey, come on and kid us too
Oh, oh, wow! oh, oh, oh, wowwww!

(2x)
We love the spotlight, so Michael, Boobie
So spread the dissing round, oh yeah

Great lyric, FJL, even if it's sadly all too true. It's like shows that want Forbidden Broadway to roast them.

In other news, Meryl Streep as the Witch in the film of "Into the Woods"? Why? Why Rob Marshall? I hope he doesn't trash the show the way he did "Nine." He only cut my favorite seven songs from that score.

I like Meryl Streep. But I would much rather have a musical theatre performer in this role.

Btw, will anybody else be watching Meryl's daughter who stars in the new CW show Emily Owens MD (starts Oct 22ndish).

I wasn't going to watch since I don't get the CW. But they are going to be showing it here on Much Music along with The Arrow. They also show Gossip Girl and the Vampire Diaries.

Am home on a sick day today. Tired and listless the last 3 days. Might just be allergies, but at work I could barely keep my eyes open so felt it wise to stay home and recup.

So today I watched, for the very first time, the classic I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE (1943). Oh, man what a beautiful film. Not so much a horror story as a love story, and the ending totally caught be by surprise. I can't believe that it has taken me so many years to catch up with this movie.

Even if horror films are not your thing, I would still highly recommend this.

Freak snowstorm here...

Strange to see snow this early in the fall up here but the moisture if needed. In a strange way it was propelled by a super typhoon near Japan a few weeks ago that dislodged unusually cold air from the arctic regions.

The areas bordering the Canadian border got over 7 inches and we only got an inch in Fargo. However, it resulted in some desperately needed precipitation. The melted snow for Fargo amounted to about a third of an inch. It is not a lot, but it is more than we have had in the last two months combined. It is nowhere near the amount needed to break the drought. Parts of the area are any where from 6 to 13 inches below normal for year. Our normal precipitation figures, including melted snow, is usually between 18 to 20 inches a year.

The heavier snow that fell up north did quell two wild fires near Karlstad, MN that burned or damaged 11 homes. During the height of the fire, they evacuated Karlstad, MN as a precaution.

The photos of these old-timey burger joints are making me hungry. One of my favorites is Taylor's Automated Refresher in St. Helena, Calif., while we still have one of the last Pig Stands here in San Antonio. (Anyone who has read Larry McMurtry's "Evening Star" might remember mention of those. They started the carhop craze.)

TOD:

The first hamburger I had at a restaurant called King Leo's on Washington Street in Grand Forks, ND. We also had an A & W drive-in that served hamburgers.

However my favorite hamburger / sloppy joe joint was the Fabulous Kegs Drive-in in Grand Forks. It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  They still serve wonderful sloppy joes and they are only open during the summer months. They are  a treat.

And here is the big pig outside the original Pig Stand in San Antonio. It actually has a small dining area where a party of six or so could have a cramped dinner. Watch out, here it comes...

Beverly Hills.

I’d actually long ago figured that the place I knew had disappeared due to the death of theaters, bookstores, camera shops, certain eateries, and the like.  Since I’d been away from it, the first couple of bombshells were that “Via Rodeo” shopping thing and the whole expansion of the Civic Center.  But those are ancient news.  I could later tell from occasional glances at Google Earth or Bing that many structures had bitten the dust, and the likes of me learned long ago that that kind of New is almost never Good.

I'd moved from Ohio to L.A. in 1972, on a whim, and lived in Hollywood until 1975 when I moved to Beverly Hills to be closer to my job.  (I actually didn’t have a car during those first few years in L.A.)  My apartment was on Clark Drive, one block north and west of Wilshire and Robertson, and I was there until 1979.  My job was at Litton Industries’ corporate headquarters on Crescent Drive at Brighton Way, a nice walk or bike ride from the apartment.  (I like other people’s geographic specifics, so I’m giving my own for those who wish to follow along at home.)  This is why I feel a strong bond to the former Hills of Beverly.  Though there was never much of a night life (just about none after the movie theaters were gone), the place bustled throughout the day.

BK tells a horror story in the notes, and a dream story in Kritzer Time.  The place was obviously greater in his years than in the 1970s when I knew it, but it was still viable.  What first killed me was reading about Chesterfield Records, which I never knew (but I knew many other great record stores).  And the Ontra Cafeteria – I didn’t know that one, and I didn’t think I remembered Ontra at all, but I recently discovered that an amazing old one I fondly remembered at Hollywood and Vine was an Ontra.

So, working an office job at Litton, I soon learned my way around the area, and I can honestly remember spending two or three dollars on a nice breakfast or lunch in Beverly Hills.  There was a comfortable old coffee shop on the SW corner of Brighton and Canon that, sadly, became a Tony Roma’s shortly after I started going there.  (That was, for me, the first death.)  I loved the little café next to the Beverly Canon Theatre.  Walter’s Pastry and Tea Room.  Ah Fong’s (downstairs!) Chinese restaurant on Beverly Dr.  (I believe there was another in Westwood).  Michelangelo’s on Beverly.  The Café Swiss on Rodeo.  The Magic Pan, which we’ve talked about, which I think was in the building on Brighton Way at Camden (NW corner).  Another small but very charming coffee shop on that SW corner.  The Café Beverly Hills on Wilshire near Roxbury (not to be confused with the Beverly Hills Café on La Cienega, another strong favorite).  The Hamburger Hamlet (I think there were two there – one on Bedford or Roxbury, which later became The Ginger Man (?), and a small one in an elegant-ish department store on Wilshire whose name escapes me at the moment).  The Red Onion on the NE corner of Beverly and Dayton.  Bon Appetit, a great cafeteria-style deli lunch spot on Beverly.  A small sandwich place called Marty’s (?) at or near the SE corner of Beverly and Dayton...

(HOW AM I DOING SO FAR???)

...and ohmigod the Luau on Rodeo, surely one of the nicer Polynesian/Tiki restaurants at the time.  Later, the Saloon on Little Santa Monica, which I associate with an “upscale chili” craze of the late 1970s.  La Scala (?) on Little Santa Monica had an affordable café (an annex to their more upscale restaurant) with the most delicious chopped salad.  Was there a House of Pie farther down Little Santa Monica?  (Correct me if I’m wrong on any of these!)  And I was always charmed by the little coffee shop in the Beverly Wilshire Hotel – for some reason, those little old places tucked into corners of jernts like that always held a certain magic for me – it was called the Pink Turtle Café or some such.  The Orange Julius on Wilshire near Beverly.  Oh, here's a good one -- Ye Little Club, a small dark old comfortable bar on Canon that served up the most delicious cheeseburger in the world (not to confuse this with today’s TOD).  And for God’s sake, Nate ‘n Al’s, which started this whole mishegas.

I’m bound to remember something else later, but those, DRs, are the places a normal person – not the celebrities and one-percenters – just a normal working class person working a normal day job in the Golden Triangle of Beverly Hills – could WALK to for something good to eat without even thinking about breaking the bank.  If you wanted to break the bank, there was the Brown Derby (or maybe that wasn’t so expensive – I don’t remember), the Bistro, and any number of more famous upscale places that we knew about but which we only got to on the more special occasions.  Further, almost every place I listed had something on their menu that I’d give anything to sit down to and enjoy again.  And no chain restaurants – only a few local area ones like the Hamlet, nothing at all like the national chains that even a place like Beverly Hills must be blighted with now.  Oh – the Cheesecake Factory, which BK mentioned – we did go there for desserts.

I don’t think there were any record stores in the Hills o’ Bev by the time I got there, so I’ll have to hold my reminiscences for when we’re talking about Hollywood or Westwood or other locales.  For bookstores, BK mentioned Martindale’s (whose name I recall somehow included Doubleday’s – is that possible?  Something like Martindale-Doubleday’s?).  Hunter’s was a bit more upscale or had a reputation for deeper selection, I think.  And in the Beverly Wilshire was Brentano’s.  I got hours of fabulous browsing accomplished in these stores.

Now don’t get me started on movie theaters.  Okay, just a little.  The Beverly Theater with its Taj Mahal-type dome.  The Beverly Canon.  And my favorite, the Stanley Warner – which by then was called, a little oddly, the Beverly Theater - a magnificently ornate movie palace, reduced, like those others in their latter days, to revival and second-run films.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that!  But what a place to spend an evening, and it often seemed like I had the whole magnificent place to myself.  Sadly, I probably did.

In those years I was much into photography, and soon became a familiar face at the two camera stores in Beverly Hills where I took slides to be developed.  I think the first one was on Canon, north of Brighton Way, and the other was on Beverly Drive in the block with Bon Appetit and a lot of other stores I wish I could remember now.  Beverly Hills Camera, and Beverly Hills Camera Exchange, I think they were called.  Last but not least, Jack’s Camera Exchange on Little Santa Monica.

That Beverly Drive block also had one of those wonderful stationery stores that were special places to explore - special, meaning that stores like Staples don’t even come close to holding the excitement and mystery for discovering that perfect thing for whatever the task of the moment was, and of course they also had other wonderful things I’d buy and then find a need for.  There was a great old luggage and gift store right around there.  For groceries, Smith’s Food King had a following, and there was a Ralph’s around the corner.

One point, or pernt, to make is that during business hours, at least, Beverly Hills was – not the best, but one of the good urban walking areas of L.A. at that time.  Hollywood and Westwood ruled, of course, as did Melrose later on, but there was plenty to do there if that’s where you found yourself.  I’m sure it was more of a destination place when the theaters were thriving and playing first-runs.

I just looked on Google Earth and found the top block of Crescent Drive - GONE - covered by some new monstrosity between the City Hall and the Post Office building.  One good and worthy unique thing, in addition to Nate ‘n Al’s, that MIGHT still exist there:  the space-age or Googie-style Union 76 gas station on Little Santa Monica.  If it’s still a gas station.  If it’s still a 76.  If it still has the revolving 76 sign.  If.  If.  If.

Back from a major shopping day with my Mom.  First we went to a ladies' clothing shoppe nearby where I'd special ordered a cute shirt with a Paris motif a couple of months ago.  They hadn't called to tell me it was in, but I just thought to check anyway.  The clerk, who'd taken my order, said it had JUST come in and she was embarrassed to call and thought I probably no longer wanted it.  Well, it's perfect for this Middfest weekend and I'm wearing it to tonight's kick-off dinner!

LOL that doesn't sound like a good reason NOT to call.

Great!  Yes, I remember the howling in the theatre when they did close-ups of George Hamilton's feet.

It is interesting reading Bruce's walk down memory lane and prompts my own trip down this lane.

I rarely went to the Canon Theater.  For me it was the Fox Wilshire or the Stanley Warner (where Keith worked in the late 60's).

While Bruce was eating in Ontra's my best friend in elementary school & I began walking to Beverly Hills for a day of shopping.  We always stopped for lunch at Nate 'n Nal's.  Meals there were always delicious and at least one star was to be seen.  While Bruce still thinks this restaurant is great Keith & I lament how far downhill it has gone and that the best coleslaw in the world is no longer the best.  I still think they have the best Kosher new pickles.

Pixie Town, a children's shop which until recently was a Beverly Hills landmark store, was a must stop for us.  Following a day of shopping in the Hills we would treat ourselves to a bus ride back to Pico drive and then walk back down Motor Drive into our Cheviot Hills.  Then that stretch of Motor Dr was up & down sloping hills with a dirt sidewalk with a golf course on each side of the street.  It was very pretty.  While the golf courses are still there the road is now flat and paved, not as pretty but less strenuous to walk after a day of shopping.  I'm pleased to say the entrance to 20th Century Fox is still there even though the rest of the studio is now Century City.  I digress from Beverly Hills, sorry.

My sister used to love to go to Will Wright's Ice Cream Parlor.  I liked the charming turn-of-the century decor & the almond macaroon cookies she liked the ice cream and usually stole most of mine.

Until I left my job, which was interfering with my wedding & honeymoon plans, I worked in the office building which Bruce mentioned.  Much farther down Cannon Drive was my grandfather's house.  After we were married I worked at Union Bank, which is still there.  In my early twenties I spent many lunch hours walking around Beverly Hills.  Brentano's was the book store I loved.  After Nate ' Nal's my favorite place was Allen Wertz candies, even more so than the See's Candy shop where I was offered a job (knowing just about every candy I would have been easy to train for the x-mas rush)

Almost every visit home over the years has taken me walking through Beverly Hills so I have gradually seen all the changes, some good & others not so good.   When it first began to grown I liked the changes and the energy and, to me, it still had the charm Bruce mentioned only with a much needed spark added.  When "Pretty Woman" had the scene with the shop lady initially treating Julia Robert's like nothing I would tell people that just isn't realistic.  Bruce is correct, the stars and the rich might have fancy cars but you couldn't necessarily tell by how they were dressed.  They had a casual natural look to them.  Even in the seventies when we were poor I was never snubbed at any store in Beverly Hills because I didn't have the right look.

Over the last few years I've noticed there just seems to be something missing.

There were so many I don't really remember who I saw when I was young.  One of the biggest stars I remember was Shelly Winter's.

My favorite was Jim Hutton.  Keith and I were in the long line waiting to order at the "to go" counter at the deli.  The entire time we chatted & joked with Jim & his pregnant wife.  Mostly Keith & Jim were joking and making us laugh.

I have had two incredible veggi burgers.

The first was a little place near Lehigh when I took my niece to look at the campus.  My friend's daughter gave us a tour and was thrilled she finally knew someone who would want to try the vegetarian place that had recently opened up.

The second place was off an Alley in New Orleans.  It was extremely hot & humid & I had been walking for hours.  I was thrilled to find a vegetarian food place, just can't call that little place a restaurant ;)  I quickly ordered home made lemonade and the veggi burger, went back outside to sit at a table with an umbrella just before it began to rain.  The lemonade would have been refreshing even if it hadn't been delicious.  The burger was a heavenly treat.

I like my vegetarian burgers but since we don't have a BBQ grill I don't make them very often.

I got to boogie on the disco 'round, oh yea

Please don't talk about love tonight
Please don't talk about sweet love
Please don't talk about being true
And all the trouble we've been through
Ah, please don't talk about all of the plans
We had for fixin' this broken romance
I want to go where the people dance
I want some action
I want to live
Action, I got so much to give
I want to give it
I want to get some too

Ooooh I, I love the nightlife
I got to boogie
On the disco 'round, oh yea
Oh, I love the night life
I got to boogie on the disco 'round, oh yea

Please don't talk about love tonight
Your sweet talking won't make it right
Love and lies just bring me down
When you've got women all over town
You can love them all and when you're through
Maybe that'll make, huh, a man out of you
I got to go where the people dance
I want some action
I want to live

Action
I got so much to give
I want to give it
I want to get some too

"Student Who Got 'Gay Cure' Sues California Over New Law"

Anyone have an idea how this could "cure" could actually be "successful"?

He just has to keep taking big doses of denial.

when MacDonalsd first came out with their 1/3 lb angus burgers the mushroom swiss burgers were amazing - beautifuuly cooked, covered with delicius suteed mushrooms  dripping with melted swiss.... but once the introductory period was over the burgers became overcooked with  miniscule  amounts of toppings

Good Evening!

We managed to get through Act One during today's "table work" session, and it was quite a lively and loverly discussion. We read a scene, and then open the floor to questions. Any questions. What time of day is it? What would have prompted one character to do that to another character? What level of education did the character achieve? Etc., etc., etc. It's like a background research session en masse.

We go back to choreography and music sessions tomorrow, and will go over Act Two on next week. -Our "Higgins", Benedict Campbell, flew back up to the Shaw Festival to finish up his second to last week of Ragtime and His Girl Friday.

As for the Topic of the Day...

I'm guessing the first hamburger I had was from McDonald's. Although, it's very possible the first one was from during a backyard cookout.

One hamburger-specific memory: The first couple of times I went to Wendy's I remember being disappointed(?) that they weren't as juicy and as "drippy" as their commercials said they were. -Remember all those napkin commercials?

I also seem to remember not being all that impressed with a Burger King "Whopper".

*And my favorite McDonald's hamburger used to be a plain one. No pickle. No ketchup. No mustard. *If you asked for a plain one, they were usually made-to-order - or at least assembled-to-order - since the default was with ketchup and pickles (and onions?). Alas, when McDonald's streamlined their assembly line, that meant that most items are pre-cooked, kept in a warmer, and then microwaved as needed. :-/

DR FJL - I most definitely remember that song! *And it's one of those songs that "kids" who weren't even born when the song first came out seem to know by heart. ???

DR Jane (or any other DRs), I know you use your nook mostly now, but what did you used to do if your book's print was too small to comfortably read?

It's book 2 and i really want to read it. This is the only series i've ever had a problem with. Sometimes they fonts are a bit smaller but i've never seen anything like this. And it's making me crazy.

I ended up getting the first 3 chapters as a sample at amazon.com so i could read that part comfortably.

I really don't understand why anyone printing a book would do this. :(

And...

Since I'm been getting up between 6:30am and 7:30am in order to leave before the main crush of the morning rush hour... And since I kind of want to head in even a little bit earlier tomorrow in order to take a bike ride around West Potomac Park...

Goodnight.

Hvae no idea where or when I had my first burger

Ditto.  It probably was one that my mom made...a typical, small German burger that has the ground beef mixed with bread crumbs, an egg and parsley.  I love my mom, but even as a kid I knew that she always overcooked them.  I never liked them...even if they weren't overcooked.

I take it that the font size isn't adjustable in the book...or do you not know if it's adjustable?  The font size for almost all the books for my Kindle can be adjusted.  You just have to find the settings.

We used to have one in Fargo that was really good also.

Another hamburger joint that was good in Grand Forks was Toppers. They had some hamburger toppings that were quite creative

I got to boogie on the disco 'round, oh yea

Please don't talk about love tonight
Please don't talk about sweet love
Please don't talk about being true
And all the trouble we've been through
Ah, please don't talk about all of the plans
We had for fixin' this broken romance
I want to go where the people dance
I want some action
I want to live
Action, I got so much to give
I want to give it
I want to get some too

Ooooh I, I love the nightlife
I got to boogie
On the disco 'round, oh yea
Oh, I love the night life
I got to boogie on the disco 'round, oh yea

Please don't talk about love tonight
Your sweet talking won't make it right
Love and lies just bring me down
When you've got women all over town
You can love them all and when you're through
Maybe that'll make, huh, a man out of you
I got to go where the people dance
I want some action
I want to live

Action
I got so much to give
I want to give it
I want to get some too

Did your grandmother tell you about this song, vixmom?

Thank you for yours!  Love these.  What/where was Stat's?  Sounds familiar but I can't place it.

I would have gone on longer with mine but decided to limit it to the Triangle.  God forbid I start talking about the Fine Arts, Music Hall, Fox Wilshire, Writers Guild, the Dolores Drive-In...

Oh now I've done it.  I said "the Dolores Drive-In".  We are doomed.

BK:  I'm deliberately flying out ahead of the others.  I get into Burbank at 5:30 pm, Thursday the 18th.  Thursday evening, all day Friday, most of the day Saturday, and Sunday morning/early afternoon are free.  Most of the others are arriving on Sunday.  I'll be renting a car and turning it back in on Sunday when the designated drivers pick up the group's SUVs for the week.

"Most of the day Saturday" means I should be on hand sometime that afternoon or evening to meet my hotel roommate.  A few of those not bringing spouses are sharing rooms.

The HTF events run Monday through Friday.  Monday evening is free.  Wednesday we're in Anaheim visiting a mouse.  Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings are reserved for "hotel ballroom events", but have yet to be announced, so one of those might possibly end up becoming free.  I fly out first thing Saturday the 27th.

BTW, I'm pleased and excited to say that we've been told that at some point, not sure when, we'll be meeting with Nick Redman and Julie Kirgo.
