Larry, I don't know if Anthony said anything but the tracks all came in fine and sound good.
Thanks.
Congrats to DR Elmore for the Filichia, which I am reading now.

I love Peter Filichia! He's always positive in his criticism and generous in his praise; he's a true mensch. I admire him greatly.
He's really good and I certainly enjoy reading him, but you couldn't say he is always positive in his criticism. He just isn't nasty. His notes on Scandalous were not exactly positive, though he certainly could have been as cruel as some of the other critics were.Congrats to DR Elmore for the Filichia, which I am reading now.

Re the notes: I bought that PBS Broadway set on the Black Friday deal, too, figuring I probably had never seen all of it anyway, and at that price, etc. etc. etc.Lifeless is another word.
But BLAND? Oh my, yes. My own word for things like this: STERILE. Also see: Safe. Glossy. Known territory. Predictable. Utterly without "edge" or the actual excitement of the real musical theater it's honoring. Only in certain clips does one sit up and take notice. But really, then, all you need are the clips. Sadly, that seems to be the very nature of shows like this. Watching it, it has "pledge drive" written all over it.
In my friend's grantwriting class last night, we heard presentations from:Are they related to the Knights who say Nee from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"?
Tiffa-NEE
Stepha-NEE
Britta-NEE
and Mike.
And the word of the day is: DOYEN!

I thought this series had nothing new to offer to its target audience.
TOD:
DVD: The Ref, Dark Shadows, Don't Look Now
CD: This Christmas, plenty of Christmas music
Car CD: Neil Young's autobiography. It's 11 CDs long and I may not make it through. I'm on disc 3 and it covers similar ground as disc 2.
And I broke down and ordered the new toupee.......it should be here next week.....we shall see what one thinks......
I read that the Scandinavian series THE BRIDGE is being remade as a British/French TV series. Presumably the body will be found in the Channel Tunnel! There is also an American remake being made by FX Network which is set on the US/Mexican border. Sweden/Denmark are also making THE BRIDGE 2.
Re: Today's prediction by Filichia regarding Leonard Maltin's 2014 (predicted) rating for "Les Miserables" -- Maltin rates "Amadeus" with the same number of stars Filichia predicts "Les Mis" will get.

2 1/2 stars?

If you're happy with it, DRJRand62, let me know: my 74 year old neighbor has a jet black one that doesn't fit and slides around his nearly bald head like a yamulke, It's really awful, I suspect he uses shoe polish on it, and I feel embarrassed for him. I think that he believes it makes him look younger to his Puerto Rican hustlers, but he looks an aging dandy from a Restoration comedy or Lady Wishfort trying to be young for Mirabel.

This is so irritating on so many levels. Why don't they think of their OWN idea. They will never come close to the greatness of the original (which I raved about here) just as The Killing did not come close, just as Wallander did and does not come close. The Bridge is beautifully done and they will never find two leads who will equal the original cast, sorry. Especially the leading lady.
TOD:Do you like "It's a Pleasure"? I've got a copy but I found the drama overly melodramatic. Still, she skates ...
DVD - It's a Pleasure starring Miss Sonja Henie and Mr Michael O'Shea......in TECHNICOLOR....a most entertaining movie from International Pictures....not long before they merged with Universal Pictures.
CD - Sandy Bainum and also some swing dance CD's
Yes to both. "The Ref" is not just one of my favorite Christmas movies, it's one of my all-time favorite movies. Whenever I'm feeling low, I can watch people be uglier to each other than most of the people I know are capable of.TOD:

I love "The Ref"! what a fantastic black comedy. "Just shoot her."
Is this the Donald Sutherland-Julie Christie film? Scared the hell out of me! One of my favorite films.

Busy weekend ahead, but hope to finish up the 1930 film SUNNY (starring Marilyn Miller) which I DVR'd from TCM, and have watched half of. Cute film.
And if time is on my side, I will get to one of the 1960s Shochiku sci fi films from the new Criterion set. Possibly GENOCIDE.
You know, sometimes there's just no other way to begin a post than with your basicI am.
OMG
Because you're not going to believe what was in my mailbox today.
My SUNDAYS AND CYBELE and 23 PACES TO BAKER STREET DVDs, that's what. I naturally ass-umed these were the replacements that only went out on Monday. Besides, the package was sent PAR AVION so that's why this one not only got here, but got here so fast... right?
Well, if you ass-umed that right along with me, you would be wrong. It's the original shipment from 11/13, sent airmail, delivered on 12/7. And now that I think about it, they always go airmail.
I immediately put these on the player and checked them out, because both DVDs were floaters, so even though they looked pristine I needed to be sure they're fine. And they are. CYBELE looks incredible, but I won't have time to properly watch it till Sunday (how fitting).
This is wonderful, because all that matters, first and foremost, is that I finally have them in hand. It'll be even more wonderful when the replacements arrive and test out okay, because I'll be able to pass the duplicates along to someone who will appreciate them. Anyone here who's interested, you must be able to play Region 2 and PAL-format DVDs.
Congrats to DR Elmore for the Filichia, which I am reading now.
I think this is what we call a rave review:

IT'S SNOWING FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 268 days! Woo and Hoo. It's too warm for it to really stick, but it's snow and I can see it and I am HAPPY!!
What sorts of fresh hell is this, DR Elmore?
Tomorrow evening, the local NUTRACKER, a nice tradition with a halfway decent orchestra.
How do you have big plans for your own surprise party?:D
I really have to laugh. I have tons of clients who fled Guatemala and are trying to get asylum here. McAfee flees TO Guatemala and seeks asylum there...and he's denied.

Have we seen the birthday girl yet today?
She dropped in to say she'd be back later! :)
the birthday girl is now here to celebrate!
U r welcome....yes I am.
I think I must have forgotten to read the notes. Because I did not see Jane's birthday message. I will have to remember to do this when I get home. I never forget to read the notes!
Thank God the laundry is finished. and in today's mail is a Christmas card from the dumbass brother I disowned three years ago. I wonder if he sneaked it out of the house so his über-bitch wife doesn't know about it. I'm really touched.
Not.
I just ordered a few things from Sherlock's Christmas collection including stickers from his Christmas & a couple of other designs of friend's dogs.
Nice BK.
Now, I wonder how I go about getting onto Skip and FJL's birthday gift list.
Off to opening night and "Mr Fezziwig's Annual Christmas Ball" to follow. I'll be home early, I'm sure.
Happy Birthday, DR Jane! Hope you're having a nice day!

I ordered the square keychain! :D
Just got a lovely box of Godiva truffles from FJL and Skip - they look incredible and I shall do my best and try my damndest not to eat them all this very evening.
I had a delightful day in Lebanon, OH, first lunching and touring with my girlfriends and then shopping for and visiting my Mom. Richard and I have had pizza and watched a couple of segments of our lecture series on cathedrals and now we're relaxing by our bubble-lighted mantle.
