RIP Larry King.
The best thing that happened for me in 2012 is that Obama got elected again. I would hate to think of living under a Repressive Republican Regime Representing only the Rich and the Religious Right.
Greetings from Toyland!
I had meant to mention earlier that I saw the end of Michael Buble's Christmas special last night. That youbng man needs to get some lessons in diction. On my favorite Christmas song, I heard him sing:
Once again as in olden times, happy golden times of yore,
Faithful friends who are dear ta us
Will be near ta us once more.
Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow,
Until then we'll hafta muddle through somehow,
So have yourself a merry little Christmas now.
Pathetic.

I only lasted through about 5 minutes of that program and turned it off. Did he also commit one of my pet peeves: "And tidings of comfErt and joy, comfErt and joy"?
Larry, did you catch the (I assume) unintentionally homo-erotic moments in Michael Buble's duet with Blake Shelton?
And the word of the day is: ALGID!
DR VIX MOM too bad COPS wasn't filming in your neighborhood last night.....you could have been on TV.....but you would have to go in the house and put on your worst clothes and mess up your hair and be smoking a cigarette.
Lots of little travel experiences this year, but our only major trip was New York and Washington in May. In addition to getting to visit with DRs Elmore, FJL, and Jose, we saw some great theatre: HERRINGBONE, HARVEY, and ONCE in NYC and MUSIC MAN and THE TAMING OF THE SHREW in DC.
vixmom - So strange, I had my first flu shot ever, and the cold happens. LOL!
Ginny--
I wonder if its too late to ask Santa to bring me that house for Christmas this year
dr Jane, there is no transcript
In other words - our Cilla was too damn good for them!!
Well, I am now scheduled for an appointment with the University of Washington Spinal Clinic on January 17. They called me.
My sister bought and printed out Amazon gift certificates that she gave to me. You should be able to do that, too...I don't know how, but it's possible.
Good morning!
Will be leaving for Buffalo this morning, I think. They're expecting high winds and several inches of snow. I hope my flight isn't delayed for hours.
After seeing the promos NOTHING could induce me to watch a movie called THE LIFE OF PI.
P.P.S. to TOD:
I stand corrected: I did have a favorite thing during this past year -- a "former" co-worker and friend was hired to be my new boss! Things have been going very well at work since he came back.
One of my big highlights was being taken off Plavix in August, which indicates my reaching the 2-year survival point from my heart attack.
Yes, I am alive
The telephone guys were just here putting in a new telephone pole - but hey didn't move any wires so we have the telephone pole that got smashed still up with the wires connected and a new one next to it with nothing connected to it
Well I discovered that my package is now at a reasonably local FEDEX location so I have to drive 20 miles round trip to collct the thing

I have been getting the flu shot every year and been fine this is the first year I caught anything but there is definitely a virulent strain going around Vixdad and I still are fighting the gift our SIL gave us on Thanksgiving and from what I hear she still has it as well
TOD:
Travelling is always the most memorable time for me and this year I had a good time in Prague, Kiev, Vienna and Madrid.
Attending the Olympics and having the Olympics in London, was the most fabulous, memorable event of the year - in fact of many years.
I looked in the mailbox and what did I see? A Christmas present? No.
Another jury summons.
Watching Once Upon a Time in America still. Delivered two boxes of caramels, picked up one package and no envelope (slow this time of year - envelope is coming from Washington and I was told three times it was absolutely sent), had an omelet and a bagel for the meal.
We watched KILLER JOE last night.Really looking forward to that one.
There are some difficult to watch sequences in this one, but it is one of the most clever and surprising black comedies I've seen in years. Performances are excellent.
Gina Gershon's first appearance is certainly one for the books.
DR John G your year does seem to be ending very well, except for losing your badge & books not arriving on time.Thanks. I drove back to the parking lot in daylight this morning before choir rehearsal. It wasn't there. That doesn't mean someone hasn't turned it in somewhere (it was before any businesses were open), but I don't hold much hope for that.
Vibes your badge is found before Monday.
I hauled out the holly...tablecloth and got the dining room somewhat ready for Christmas dinner. Richard and I then went to Kroger, which was a zoo. Fortunately I didn't need too much, just some last minute things that I would have shopped for yesterday if the weather had cooperated. We survived and are in for the night.I face Costco tomorrow. I only need four things. I'll probably end up with a cart and be part of the madness.
I looked in the mailbox and what did I see? A Christmas present? No.Boo.
Another jury summons.
Well, we sold all but two copies of the book that we had, which was good, about 33-34 in all. We also got to see a lot of people that we knew and catch up with them, which was fun.
I only had time to bake on thing, so the beer cake is in the oven. It smells wonderful. It should. It has allspice and cinnamon, 2 cups of nuts, 2 cups of dried cherries, blueberries and figs, and 2 cups of beer in it.
I looked in the mailbox and what did I see? A Christmas present? No.Boo.
Another jury summons.
(because I record my biggest life events here),I looked in the mailbox and what did I see? A Christmas present? No.Boo.
Another jury summons.
You all know what the worst event of the year was and still is.

No, the biggest is surviving my car accident. As it was happening I wasn't sure I would
