Good morning!

Will be leaving for Buffalo this morning, I think.  They're expecting high winds and several inches of snow.  I hope my flight isn't delayed for hours.

SAFE AND EASY TRAVEL VIBES!!!

After seeing the promos NOTHING could induce me to watch a movie called THE LIFE OF PI.

I thought the promos looked intriguing.  Having read the book I originally didn't have any intention of watching the movie.

P.P.S. to TOD:

I stand corrected:  I did have a favorite thing during this past year -- a "former" co-worker and friend was hired to be my new boss!   Things have been going very well at work since he came back.

:)

That is a big event.

I hauled out the holly...tablecloth and got the dining room somewhat ready for Christmas dinner.  Richard and I then went to Kroger, which was a zoo.  Fortunately I didn't need too much, just some last minute things that I would have shopped for yesterday if the weather had cooperated.  We survived and are in for the night.

One of my big highlights was being taken off Plavix in August, which indicates my reaching the 2-year survival point from my heart attack.

Thank goodness!!!!!

DR John G your year does seem to be ending very well, except for losing your badge & books not arriving on time.

Vibes your badge is found before Monday.

The telephone guys were just here putting in a new telephone pole -  but hey didn't move any wires so we have the telephone pole that got smashed still up with the wires connected and a new one next to it with nothing connected to it

 ???

Did you call the phone company back to ask about this?

I'm glad your house wasn't on fire and that your fence protected you.

Well I discovered that my  package is now at a  reasonably local FEDEX location so I have to drive 20 miles round trip to collct the thing

vixmom - So strange, I had my first flu shot ever, and the cold happens.  LOL!

I have been getting the flu shot every year and been fine this is the first year I caught anything but there is definitely a virulent strain going around Vixdad and I still are fighting the gift  our SIL gave us on Thanksgiving and from what I hear she still has it as well

And yet you are going through all this trouble for her gift ;)

TOD:

Travelling is always the most memorable time for me and this year I had a good time in Prague, Kiev, Vienna and Madrid.

Attending the Olympics and having the Olympics in London, was the most fabulous, memorable event of the year - in fact of many years.

That's some nice traveling. :)

I looked in the mailbox and what did I see? A Christmas present? No.

Another jury summons.

Watching Once Upon a Time in America still.  Delivered two boxes of caramels, picked up one package and no envelope (slow this time of year - envelope is coming from Washington and I was told three times it was absolutely sent), had an omelet and a bagel for the meal.

You didn't deliver any to me ;)

However, yesterday there was Thornton's toffee in my mailbox. :)

Bruce I was hoping they had changed the ending of LIFE OF PI for the film.  I'm sure others would have been furious if they had.

VIBES THE DARLING DAUGHTER VISITS ON CHRISTMAS DAY!

If not remember last years late visit was fun.  If she isn't stressed rushing from her mother's to you it should, once again, make it a fun relaxing visit.

DR Jane I think you asked something yesterday which I forgot to answer.  If I was going to put my sister's house key on my key chain. It has its own key chain. I think I will leave it like that. I like having house keys and car keys separate in case i lock the car keys in the car.  I would normally always have the key with me. Just i had changed purses and not taken that one thing.

We watched KILLER JOE last night.

There are some difficult to watch sequences in this one, but it is one of the most clever and surprising black comedies I've seen in years.  Performances are excellent.

Gina Gershon's first appearance is certainly one for the books.
Really looking forward to that one.

Thanks. I drove back to the parking lot in daylight this morning before choir rehearsal. It wasn't there. That doesn't mean someone hasn't turned it in somewhere (it was before any businesses were open), but I don't hold much hope for that.

I face Costco tomorrow. I only need four things. I'll probably end up with a cart and be part of the madness.

Well, we sold all but two copies of the book that we had, which was good, about 33-34 in all. We also got to see a lot of people that we knew and catch up with them, which was fun.

I only had time to bake on thing, so the beer cake is in the oven. It smells wonderful. It should. It has allspice and cinnamon, 2 cups of nuts, 2 cups of dried cherries, blueberries and figs, and 2 cups of beer in it.

That's great, and with two books left it wasn't so bad the new ones didn't arrive.

I can't stand the taste of beer.  I do enjoy beer bread so your cake sounds yummy.

Boo.

I just did a search to see when the last time I had jury duty (because I record my biggest life events here), and it was April of 2011.

Happy highlights of the year.

Our cruise to Tahiti & the Social Islands with Craig here to take care of Sherlock

Watching Bryan become a doctor was one of the highlights of my life, not just the year.

Craig realizing he needed to get that second Master's degree to become a teacher, and knowing exactly what kind of teacher he wanted to be.  Then working as a teacher's assistant and confirming it.

I have been wanting to go into town to enjoy the holiday lights and feel a little of the holiday spirit.  Not wanting to get caught in a snow storm I doubt it will happen.  Tonight might have been the best night to do it.  Keith promises we will go sometime before the lights come down even if it is after Christmas.
