Title: A MAN POSSESSED

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were possessed, and now it is time for you to post until the possessed cows come home.

Today, my friend Margo and I are going to see "The Life of Pi" in 3-D.  I have some coupons, so we'll save a bit o' money.  We're also going to meet before the movie and have dinner at a restaurant, The Rock Wood Fired Pizza.  Margo's favorite drink is The Bucket with five different kinds of rum served in a plastic pail with a shovel which you get to keep.  I don't drink, but a couple of years ago (for some reason), I ordered their Lava Lamp, which is several boozes in a Lava Lite-shaped plastic cup that lights up and you get to keep that, too.  It was actually pretty good.  I might get another one and have a pair of them.  The restaurant is in the corner of the movie theater building, so there's no driving from the restaurant to the movie theater.

Good morning, all! I slept late and I am running off to Toyland. The internet may still be off, and if it is, I'm heading home.

I have nothing to report or to declare.

I have decided that my project for today is clearing through the Christmas stuff and organizing it. I am trapped at home today because of a marathon that has closed the access road to my neighborhood.

Sunday morning greetings!  We are not in Lima today, because Fr. Richard was wise enough to arrange to have today off before we left on our trip.  I feel slightly better today, but not ready to set the world on fire,

Losing 20 pounds would be most welcome. I have started exercising and I do feel better, but I don't put much faith in scales at the beginning. I think the muscle gained weighs more than the inches lost, or some such thing. But pants are fitting better, and I like that.

Count me in on the losing 20+ pounds thing.  I'm definitely at least that much over a more reasonable weight for me, which I haven't seen in several years.  And wasn't this a New Year's resolution (as it so very often is)?  Now where did I put that lettuce?

Saturday's TOD:

Richard Neutra houses.....I guess I really like the 20th Century Mid-Century designs....in homes, buildings, and furniture.

I have taken the Frank Lloyd Wright tour in Oak Park, Illinois, and nearby.....which is very interesting.

And I am fascinated by the Eastern Building in Los Angeles, that I first noticed in an episode of SOUTHLAND last year. If you are going to have a building, it might as well be turquoise terra cotta and gold leaf.

It's been snowing continuously for 9 hours now so it's getting quite thick. The airports have been disrupted for 3 days now. My neighbours' children have built a massive snowman so some people are happy to have so much snow! I've got lunch tomorrow with people I used to work with - I hope I manage to get there.

DR KEVIN H if you join Photobucket for free.....and load your pictures there.....when you click on your pic there is a little box that gives you the image code.
Just click that and then click paste on a post at HHW and the picture shows up.

The current owners bought it from the original owner.  It sat empty for a long time and had to be restored in a similar way.

That Eastern building is incredible, and it reminds me of another one whose name escapes me.  It was in downtown L.A. and demolished just prior to when I moved there.  I first learned of it by seeing it in the film ZABRISKIE POINT.  Oh, what the HELL building was that?

Bruce, I understand your displeasure with your weight--at present I'm the heaviest I've ever been--but I really wouldn't have guessed.

My little soup diet is coming along nicely. I didn't expect to lose quickly--my goal was sensibly. I'm eating fewer carbs and fewer calories overall. The pounds are starting to come off. And I agree with DR JohnG about the numbers on the scale not being the whole story. I care about how my clothes fit--not the numbers.

Or from La Cienega, maybe I'm remember wrong.  But near LAX.

It's Randy's Donuts, isn't it?  Did it change?

Chas, long ago there was a Big Donut at the corner of Sepulveda and Washington Blvd in Culver City. It's no longer there. I don't recall it ever called Randy's Donuts. Bruce? Jane? (Where is Jane?)

I'm thinking of this one, that you could see from the 405:   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy's_Donuts

Or from La Cienega, maybe I'm remember wrong.  But near LAX.

Yes, just like Randy's Donuts' sign, and it was right off the 405, not that far from LAX, but I don't recall it being called Randy's.

Found it.  Bing Maps is calling it that.  See if this works:

Somehow I lost a post. I was commenting on the OUTSIDE THE BOX episode. I thought it was hilarious, the actors were great, fine voices, and very clever songs (no surprise). Very, very funny.

Auditions have such a high hilarity ("oh, that 'larity") potential anyway, that it would be a shame not to capitalize on that once in a while.  But I would definitely miss the phone calls to the unsuspecting, if they ever went away.

Me,too. I didn't laugh much at this one, but I think I was more engaged by the different approach.  I thought the premise and what I saw of the presentation wasn't bad!

The only subplot that has become irritating, involves Bates - it's just too much plot machinations just to keep that story line going, and it would be much better without.

To me, most of the laughs are the auditions.  I really wanted the songs to be as if they could work for an actual production, so I knew there wouldn't be as many laughs in the songs this time around and I was fine with that.  There are a few amusing things in the musical portions, but I wanted it to be plausible.

The Dollar Store is another chain that everything is a $1 or less -  this chain is called  "Big Deals"   Most things are $5 or less but occasionally they will have items that cost as much as $20

I'm trying to figure out when I"m going to sneak in a quick trip to NYC to see The Mystery of Edwin Drood.  I've gone back and forth about going and have decided I'll kick myself if I don't just do it.  So I'll probably go either President's day weekend or the weekend after that and probably for only 2 nights.   I have credit for a ticket I cancelled so the plane fare will be pretty cheap.   I'm likely to be going back later in the year, so I don't feel bad making this a quick trip.

Yes, the regional cows steal the show.  I could sit through a LOT more of that.

Let's see.  I"ve lost 10 pounds since I started my diet on the 3rd, but haven't started exercising yet. I do have Zumba but haven't taken it out of the box

good for you!! I need to drop 20 -25 lbs but at this point I figured I should finish the  goodies we got at Christmas -  can't let good Godiva chocolates go to waste!

I feel the same way.

Same, with this box of Whitman's All Dark Assortment Sampler somebody who hates dark chocolate (the poor fool) gave me.
Mine was See's Chocolates.

The regional cows:  I have about ten more minutes of it. :)  Pretty funny stuff.  The man in the wheelchair is Calvin Remsberg, AKA Beedle Bamford in the George Hearn/Angela Lansbury Sweeney Todd.

Finished all eight episodes of Downton Abbey and must now wait a week for the Christmas episode, which is fine.  The final three are amongst the series' best.

I suppose I could write a bit more tonight, but I feel I did good finishing the chapter and I think it's better to start fresh in the morning (I'm up at six anyway).  The penultimate chapter has to accomplish a lot of things and may take more than a day - we'll see how on top of it I am in the morning, but I actually have no plans for tomorrow save for lunch and picking up packages so I might get it done.

Olympia Family Theater did "Animal Farm" last year and a few friends of mine were in it.  I'll have to let them know about this! :D

One of my favorite things in this episode is Johnny Dark doing the regional cows.  I love him.  We had to trim a LOT from the auditions, but they'll all be on the Blu-ray as extras.

So, when might the Blu-ray be available for purchase??

I've done eleven pages, and begun the new chapter, so I'm done for the day in terms of writing.  Adriana has just figured it all out.  Whew!!!

Congrats to Adriana!
