Just leaf-blew the entire driveway.

Amazing.  This is the kind of winter I can live with.  What's this, the fourth storm in a row I've been able to clear with the blower?  S'wonderful.

I'm a little bit relieved to hear that AND THE WORLD GOES ROUND leaves even the likes of MR BK a little cold.  Haven't seen it performed, but I've put the album on a couple of times over the years, and couldn't get into it.

An explanation of why I've not been posting, and it's because I find it hard to not post about personal matters when this has been suhc an experience, but I hope overall it can turn into a positive understanding of what people can be that i can use in my writing as well, a better understanding of the pettiness of people and how they can opt to turn someone who up to a certain point had only a positive profile into a villain if they so choose:

One of the people (a certain Mr. Frank) who I'm fairly sure is a "guest" reading this site has been trying to get one of my professional licenses taken away, and I've been confused about some of the claims he's been making about things he says I've claimed about him -as they seem not to have anything to do with anything relating to him in particular, but are things I've actually said about other people from that old "Stalkin Broadway" where Jonathan had many friends.  But I'm told by the professional organiziation that i MUST take any such allegation seriously just because somebody in the public chooses to send it - if I ignore it, whatever the reason, it will be automatically found against me - but he does seem to be taking anything I've alleged against anyone on that "Staklin" site and making believe I alleged it against him personally.

No DR VIXMOM Miss Jackie Joseph-Lawrence wasn't in ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN.....but she was Audrey in the original LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS Roger Corman film....and spent a couple of years on the Doris Day Show.

Jackie and Ken were divorced in 1976 - and she was one of the founders of the LADIES CLUB - about Show Business wives who get dumped after many years of marriage.  She remarried in 2003 - I don't think Ken has remarried.....but I am not sure how friendly they are with each other.

As to "why" the bad feelings by Mr. Frank are harbored towards me started at whatever point they actually started, yes I do have an idea of the actual specific reasons.  How it managed to parlay itself into what it became in terms of action by Mr. Frank's close friends (though carefully not by Mr. Frabnk himself or from his computer apparently, he's a prominent businessman  in the arts area), no idea and no frame of reference for such behavior in any human beings I know or have known..

Good morning, all!

Yesterday the new biography of Benjamin Britten by Paul Kildea arrived from England and I stayed up late reading it. I finished off Disc Two of DOWNTON ABBEY and jumped right into the book.. I'll finish DOWNTON ABBEY tonight; the book will take weeks.

Today, I tally receipts and hopefully get some work accomplished on THE BIG COUNTRY Suite. Then back to the DVD player.

Speaking of tallying, and elmore was,

Here's my YouTube "Talley's Folly" parody-salute with tribute to Danny Burstein's roles going from married to Sally to courting Sally and from FOLLIES to FOLLY - i love all the wordplay involved! - there had to be  a mash-up, didn't there?

SALLY TALLEY'S FOLLIES with a "Story of Sally and Sally"

And that's a great little note in the Times. I do admit, though I know Annie's Song, I had to find it on Youtube (sung by John Denver) and it was playing in one tab while I was reading your lyrics in the other tab. I'm glad they were able to get in touch with you and it's nice to know that Holland Taylor reads the Times!

Hello All!

The latest edition of the Broadway Radio Show is up on this here website for your listening pleasure.  This time we are featuring selections from the newly released Broadway revival cast recording of The Mystery of Edwin Drood starring Chita Rivera, Jim Norton, Will Chase, Stephanie Block, Jessie Mueller, Betsy Wolfe, etc.  Personally, I love this show and think Rupert Holmes' score is terrific fun!  Take and listen and enjoy.

I took the apartment apart, but the Moross scores are not here and that means I left them at Toyland. So, I worked on the DEAREST ENEMY history for a bit, and I've just returned from a brisk walk to the bank, the market, and Artie's where I used part of one of my wonderful Christmas gifts, a generous gift certificate for Arties.

I'm stocked up now for the week, and now I have to do this week's meds.  'll do that now, and then watch the third DOWNTON ABBEY disc.

Today I was cleaning and looked at the filter in the humidifier...OMG  I'm surprised I don't have some strange disease from the strange things growing on it.  I immediately went out and found a new one and tossed the old one.  While I was at it I replaced the furnace filter - I do keep up with that-  and since it was 50 degrees I opened a couple windows to air out the house.   The cats were thrilled

I'm a little bit relieved to hear that AND THE WORLD GOES ROUND leaves even the likes of MR BK a little cold.  Haven't seen it performed, but I've put the album on a couple of times over the years, and couldn't get into it.

I love the album...probably because I like the performers and just listen to the songs as individual songs and don't really know about "the whole show."  I really like that the song "Kiss of the Spider Woman" is performed without the key change and I love the medleys (quodlibets) where they sing the different songs at the same time.

But today's big horror is - TERMITES.  Apparently we've got a nest of them - because I'm actually seeing them - it's terrible.  I've killed about thirty of them (they're docile) but every time I walk back in the living room (that's the only room they seem to be in) there are a few more to kill).  I've called a termite place that uses that orange spray (you don't have to vacate) but obviously they're not there on Sunday so I won't hear until morning.

So this is pretty cool...I was watching one of the local (Seattle) news broadcasts a little earlier and they were doing a segment on a local restaurant that put up a sign that they were charging 1.5% surcharge because of Seattle's new required sick leave law.  They showed about four seconds of a customer who it turns out was someone I went to Western Washington University with!  Her name is Dana and we were in choir and several classes together and she still looks great!  She went on to become a professional singer and she's (still) very good!  HERE (http://www.northwestartists.org/dj.htm) is a link to a head shot, bio and audio clip!  Pretty cool, huh? :D

The Shining is more creepy than scary - that's why fans of the book hated the Kubrick film when it came out.  They've come around to it since, though, but it's a film filled with several iconic moments, all of which are in our version.  While Jennifer may have been a bit young when The Shining originally came out, it's not like the book has been out of print or the film unavailable - it's a VERY popular movie.

Oh my goodness.  This is definitely is a very serious concern.  You are in my thought and prayers.

VIBES that all goes well for you

No DR VIXMOM Miss Jackie Joseph-Lawrence wasn't in ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN.....but she was Audrey in the original LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS Roger Corman film....and spent a couple of years on the Doris Day Show.

Jackie and Ken were divorced in 1976 - and she was one of the founders of the LADIES CLUB - about Show Business wives who get dumped after many years of marriage.  She remarried in 2003 - I don't think Ken has remarried.....but I am not sure how friendly they are with each other.

thanks for the explanation ,  but I was not that one that asked that question--- :)

Just got to the point in Rosalie where Nelson Eddy sings "In the Still of the Night" to Eleanor Powell. Director "One-Take Woody" Van Dyke did something visually interesting in that about half of the song is staged with the back of Eddy's and Powell's heads to the camera. Little movement and no false emotions, just the power of the song.

Speaking of the Mystery of Edwin Drood.....I will be attending on Friday Feb 22.   It's going to be a short trip.  I should arrive around noon on Thursday and will leave Sat am.  I say should arrive because I'm flying from Sioux City and that flight to Chicage gets cancelled fairly often.

It is quite wonderful, I am sure you will love it .  I hope you have an opportunity to meet with Rupert  on your short trip to town

I wish you were stating a little longer so I could meet you  and take you to dinner

Not sure if he'll have time this trip.  He's working on several projects at the moment and didn't know if he'd be available, so I may or may not see him.   I have never seen the Mystery of Edwin Drood, so that's why I'm making the trip. I'm still not totally comfortable with leaving the cats....the last sitter will care for the house and Ricky and Boo...Callie will be boarded.  If it works out ok, I'll probably take a longer trip in the future

I wish I was going to be there longer too.  I'll likely make another trip this year.  I'd love to have dinner then.

I got it too, but I decided to wait until after I see the show to listen to it.  I usually don't do it that way, but I don't want it to influence my vote since all the optional ending songs are on the new CD

Wait a minute.  A while ago we had people who had never seen CHINATOWN.  Now we have people who've never seen THE SHINING?   :o.

How does that even happen?       :).

I only saw The Shining about a year ago and that was  "by accident" .
I never saw Chinatown because movies about cops and car chases hold no interest for me and I avoid horror movies  because....... they are horror movies

I don't think I'm going to try to get tickets to any other shows this trip.  I may check out a museum or some place I haven't been before.

The musical "Once" is truly stunning!

I need to come in and see this - will it appeal to the Vixter as well do you think?

I can't speak for DR Jane but most of BK's references are before my time.

You think The Shining, a classic film and one of Stephen King's most popular books is before your time???

It was released in 1980 --

The only Stephen King movies I've seen are GREEN MILE, STAND BY ME, and MISERY.  I liked these very much.
There were a couple of made for tv movies I could have done without.

I saw The Green Mile and Stand by Me  but could not bear to see Misery after seeing the coming attractions

That's why I'm waiting on listening to Disc Two until I have time to concentrate on all those endings. I had them on the cassette at one point in time, but that tape is long gone.

A self-catering cottage just means it's an apartment with a kitchen. It's more a European term

Self-Catering (http://www.campdencottages.co.uk/access/WhatdoesSelfCateringmean.htm)

I was hoping you automatically had trays of canapes waiting for you.  And little sandwiches cut into triangles.

Not to mention endless bottles of chilled Dom Perignon.

It sounded like an English term to me   so I  figured it was like Hogwarts  - a banquet magically appears on the table and then magically clears itself away

Sounds more like carpenter ants.

Why should it bother you that the Super Bowl is on TV?  You don't even watch TV.  Over 100 million people around the world do enjoy watching the game.

I don't like Kubrick's THE SHINING.  I did enjoy the book.

It's my understanding that the cassette didn't have all of them and this is the first recording to have everything, at least I think I read that somewhere

Wow the end of the game was super exciting. The 49ers sure played well after the power outage.  Too bad they lost. The Ravens really played horribly after the power outage.

I'm sure they will be fine. They probably care less than I do. Callie knows the people at the vet's office and it's during the week so people will be there.   Alyce will pick up Callie before the vet closes on Saturday so she'd be home when I get here and wouldn't have to stay there the whole weekend for a Monday pickup.  That's really why I'm traveling during the week.

Good evening.  Here we are at the end of another long weekend.  Hopefully Miss Saigon is cast - that is if everyone will accept we're good to go.  After a matinee of the "pink" show, which had a small audience because of the Super Bowl, I went over to my sisters and hung out with her and my mom, and my brother-in-law and niece, of course.  We had veggie dogs for dinner, actually quite yummy.  So now I'm home and the DD and I are safely ensconced in our "cave", which we love. listening to the original Broadway cast of Man of La Mancha, which I bought digitally this evening when I looked at my iTunes library and found that the original Broadway cast was not there.  I guess I never bought it on CD.  It's the best, of course and we are loving every second of it.
