Wait a minute.  A while ago we had people who had never seen CHINATOWN.  Now we have people who've never seen THE SHINING?   :o.

How does that even happen?       :).

But today's big horror is - TERMITES.  Apparently we've got a nest of them - because I'm actually seeing them - it's terrible.  I've killed about thirty of them (they're docile) but every time I walk back in the living room (that's the only room they seem to be in) there are a few more to kill).  I've called a termite place that uses that orange spray (you don't have to vacate) but obviously they're not there on Sunday so I won't hear until morning.

Although, it's been quite a while since I've read the book or saw the movie.

Just not my cup of tea.  I saw CHINATOWN when it was first released.

And some people have never read "The Mill on the Floss," either. Go figure.

Termites are as much of a horror story as "The Shining." Good luck with them.

You think The Shining, a classic film and one of Stephen King's most popular books is before your time???

I enjoyed the new episode, especially the reactions of the little boy and the first number, with its pseudo-gospel uplift. I also loved how derivative so many of the songs tried not to be, such as the "one for the road" number.

So this is pretty cool...I was watching one of the local (Seattle) news broadcasts a little earlier and they were doing a segment on a local restaurant that put up a sign that they were charging 1.5% surcharge because of Seattle's new required sick leave law.  They showed about four seconds of a customer who it turns out was someone I went to Western Washington University with!  Her name is Dana and we were in choir and several classes together and she still looks great!  She went on to become a professional singer and she's (still) very good!  HERE is a link to a head shot, bio and audio clip!  Pretty cool, huh? :D

My guess is that you'd like the Kubrick film of The Shining very much.  The book, for me, is Stephen King's best.

So, to avoid the Super Bowl, I popped in "Rosalie," which starts with, you guessed it, a football game.

I think she would have been too young to see it.  My parent's certainly would not have let me see it.

I made a very nice grilled cheese sandwich on rye.

If it had had a hamburger and some onions on it, it would have been a very nice patty melt.

I'm not a fan of scary movies.  I only watch them because of Keith.  I'll have to ask if he saw this.  He was traveling a lot back then and would see movies I didn't want to see.

I just read that moderate drinking is good for ones bones.  I'm now drinking a wee bit of scotch (Dalwhinnie).

The Shining is more creepy than scary - that's why fans of the book hated the Kubrick film when it came out.  They've come around to it since, though, but it's a film filled with several iconic moments, all of which are in our version.  While Jennifer may have been a bit young when The Shining originally came out, it's not like the book has been out of print or the film unavailable - it's a VERY popular movie.
