And I'm back, since nobody is here, not even a guest. I would assume DR George will pop in later
And the word of the day is: SUSURRUS!
I'm up, which I guess is what happens when you go to sleep at nine. Feeling disgusting right now - stuffed up, coughing horribly (which HURTS) and it's like there's a fist in my chest. I still hope this goes away sooner than later so keep sending those excellent vibes and xylophones.

I'm here. I watched last night's "Modern Family" and "Nashville." I'm now watching the season finale of "Happily Divorced."
Yesterday I had chocolate covered bacon and chocolate covered potato chips....they were both very goodI've had the bacon, but the chocolate-covered potato chips sound really good. Like chocolate covered pretzels, which I love.
On a happier note...
Happy Valentine's Day to all the wonderful HHW DRs!!

This morning, on Facebook, Ben changed his avatar to his dad's photo. He posted thisSounds wonderful. I have the Bergman version, but who could have enough Magic in their lives?
My dad had the bluest eyes I ever saw and thru those eyes he saw the world in all its magnificence. Today we donated his corneas with the hope somebody else will be able to see the world thru his beautiful eyes. What a cool and comforting thought.
He's such a good guy, and a really excellent baritone. When the Branagh filmn of THE MNAGIC FLUTE is available on DVD next month, you can hear what a good singer and comic he is as Papageno the Bird Catcher.
i haven't commented in the past much about the film, which never got a US distributor - WTF? it should have! - but it's Mozart's allegorical fairy tale, English version by Stephen Fry, set in the World War 1 trenches; it's funny but also very spooky, with the dragon chasing the prince at the beginning of the piece changed to a trail of poisonous gas. Papageno becomes the soldier who is checking trenches for poisonous gas pockets by sending birds into the space, and if they die . . .
The three ladies who attend the Queen of the Night are French nurses. It's all very wonderful with great costume and scene designs.
Questions for anyone out there with an iPhone 5. How often do you have to recharge yours? I have had mine for only two days now, but the battery has been
low both mornings. Do I really need to recharge it daily?
The elective I started is something we are calling "Glee". Basically, it will be a show choir type thing. The kids are excited, but they know it will be hard work.
They are wonderful, you get the crunchy and salty with the sweet.Yesterday I had chocolate covered bacon and chocolate covered potato chips....they were both very goodI've had the bacon, but the chocolate-covered potato chips sound really good. Like chocolate covered pretzels, which I love.
And yet, "New York" might just be ticket to getting you past the trauma!
First of all, let me say "Thank You" to everyone who offered vibes and good wishes.
Let me say, that the field of medicine has progressed a great deal in the last thirty years. The myelogram was uncomfortable at times, but it wasn't the agonizing experience that I had before. And the fact that the doctor was a cutie didn't hurt. I have to spend most of the next 24 hours on my back, with only a few minutes sitting or standing. I won't know anything about the results of the test for, at least, a couple of weeks.

Samantha's would be father in law (would be if they got married) passed away on Tuesday. He was a really nice guy and Samantha and Don were very close to him. I'm going to be going to the funeral on Saturday and will spend some time with mom and dad.
I am looking forward to seeing little Dash. I haven't seen him since he was a month old. He's almost 8 months old now!

As expected, our parishioner Olga died at 10:30 last night. She was well into her 90s and was a delightful woman. Fr. Richard is on the phone now with her daughter and the funeral director.

To my great relief, my iPad Mini was covered for accidents, so I only had to pay a $50 deductible for a replacement.
Had a very emotional plea hearing this morning. My client cried, his mom and dad cried his uncle cried....it doesn't make me cry, but being in the middle of all the emotion does take a little out of me. So, I came home for lunch, will shake if off and head back to work refreshed

JRand, I know that. I'm just not sure that seeing it on Broadway outweighs all the preparations to go, the cost of everything I have to do to go and the fact I don't want to leave home. If I knew I could see Mr. H, I may still go, but it's looking like he'll be too busy, so that makes it a whole lot easier to just stay home.

Cute mouse ;)
I saw that on the news this morning, DR TCB. Shocking and sad.
That is, the news had the story on Oscar Pistorius, not the news on Nicky eating the cute mouse.

I can imagine that is draining, would be worse though if you cried ;)

Will you only be out the cost of the theater ticket at this point have you also paid for the flight?

Oh, I don't cry at these things. They don't make me sad. It's what happens when you get caught committing a crime and plead guilty. It's just draining to deal with a group of people who are all emotionally distraught
I just got the good news that Jason Graae is confirmed for the Bob Hope role in ROBERTA. Big sigh of relief!

I paid for the flight months ago and just paid the change fee to reschedule this time. I'll be out that and the ticket and that's it. Compared to about $750-$1000 more it will cost if I get another ticket to a show on Thursday, eat, sleep in a hotel for 2 nights, board Callie, pay a cat sitter for the others, pay parking, do a little shopping etc. Not to mention missing a couple days of income, but I may do that anyway and stay home and clean

MEGA GOOD TEST RESULT VIBES!!!
DR Vixmom I'm sorry about your car.

Awww! Beautiful and brought tears to my eyes.
I am celebrating Valentine's Day by getting a very scary treatment for my bones. It is given by IV and lasts for a year, which also means it is in my system at least that long and I can't get it out if there are undesirable side effects.
The first side effect, and very unlikely is on my kidneys. Oops, forgot I need to drink lots of water this morning as I also did yesterday.

Today (Thursday) at work, we're going to have a Red/Pink potluck lunch. I'm bringing meatballs in a marinara sauce.
Happy day before the chocolate goes on sale day
Well, I'm back from the cruise/wedding.
All I can say is that I'm glad that I wasn't on that cruise ship that was stuck in the Gulf of Mexico.
All went well at the wedding. The setting was spectacular. It took place here:Spectaclar seems like an understatement.

I'm feeling a bit waterlogged at the moment ;D
Went back to bed and slept another two hours, then went to Jerry's Deli, where I could barely get any sound out of my voice - I had soup and sandwich. By the time I was finished at least some of my voice was working again. Since then I've been feeling a bit better.
Hello, everyone!

DR George, I believe we're offering Aunt Minnie/Madame Roberta to Rosemary Ashe. I love her!

Nice photos from DR DOUG R.
Welcome home DR KEVIN.....yes, your cruise was much less eventful than the ship In The News.
DR CILLA LIZ - there is much to be said for staying home, that is for sure...especially if meeting Mr H is only a maybe.

Cool! I have several recordings that she's on. She was the original Madame Giry in the original London Phantom of the Opera! And I love the London Witches of Eastwick!

He's definitely a no, now. Too busy to come into the city. So, I have cancelled the trip. I am actually very relieved. Callie sent him a thank you note because it means she doesn't have to go to Kitty Jail

Vixmom, at least you have a legitimate reason to spend so much money on your car.

No, DR George, she was the original Carlotta. I believe the Mme Giry was Mary Millar.
Nice photos from DR DOUG R.

Here's a funny story: As I've said many times here, my favorite Jack Benny episode features a twelve-year-old girl named Toni Marcus, who ends up playing a duet of Getting to Know You with Jack - it's one of the funniest half-hours in all of television, and I've showed it to countless people over the years (I've had a 16mm print since the 1970s). Someone happened to post the clip on Facebook - I would post the link but the idiot who put it on Facebook did so with the sound completely out of synch. Anyway, I was nosing around You Tube to see if there were better clips, and I came upon a few current ones - and also the reason I've never been able to really find out anything about her - she's now called Talia "Toni" Marcus. So, I found her on Facebook and just wrote her a really nice note. And the funny part of the story? She went to my high school and was a year ahead of me, which means she was there when I was there. Who knew?

A year ahead or behind? I looked her up and she is one month older than I am. I would love to see a picture of her back then, maybe I knew her.
We are home after a delightful afternoon in the Cincinnati 'burbs. When we were finished at the Apple Store, we headed for the Cheesecake Factory and our timing was perfect! Walked right in and got a table. After a delicious lunch of mini beef tacos, I ordered dulce de leche caramel cheesecake, ate a few bites, and brought the rest home. We made a couple more computer-related stops for Richard and then went to see my Mom. We took her a slice of chocolate tuxedo creme cheesecake as a Valentine treat.

I hope you tell the talented Mr Holmes that it is his fault that you aren't coming to New York.

Rupert Holmes is the busiest man in show business. I've kind of given up on ever seeing him again.
The ship has finally come it.....well it's in Mobile. I've never been on a megacruise ship. Don't think I ever want to
Not that there is anything wrong with Carnival Cruises, in fact they are the largest cruise company in the world. I just don't fit into their demographics. What? Intelligent?
Let us know what you think of Pleasure - especially its sparkling score by Mr. Alfred Newman.I hadn't seen the movie in, I think, 40 years, and it's still one great big smile. It's got a largely effective script with some crackling good dialogue. (The Asian dialect jokes in the beginning are probably what keeps it, in this age of political correctness, from being released on DVD). The performances are a delight across the board. Even Tab Hunter does what he has to charmingly. Movies nowadays just don't leave you feeling that good from start to finish, and the score just adds to its effervescence.
