I seem to enjoy Fred Astaire's work from the lat 40's onwards. The crudeness of the way these were shot and edited and the sound recording are far too distracting for me to enjoy them.

Good morning, all!
Last night I dreamed about dead relatives, lost friends, a lesbian (perhaps) restaurant on the Upper East Side, an entertainment for a Thanksgiving somewhere between Manhattan and Anywhere, and an attempt to get folk and schedule in sync to get home.
This morning, I'm back to Toyland to continue the ROBERTA work. We should be getting close to completion of Round One soon.
More coffee!

Good Morning. And Tuesday to boot.
-
Thanks for the vibes about my mini-upsettedness last night.
Yes, indeed, the most difficult people to have to deal with are the ones who are nice and professional in demeanor and attitude to almost all of the rest of the world, but for some reason have taken a particular targetted intense dosregard to "you" in particular as an exception.i
People who are S.O.B.'s to everyone - say the Scott Rudin types of the world, who are known to be universal tough cookies, those everyone understands what you're saying when they have disregrad for you.
-
DR Ben beat me to it. I immediately looked that up to see where it was, even though I figured it would conflict with my show. It does, and that's also a good 7-hour road trip each way. Which I'd love, and it's beautiful country -- I drove through much of it when I drove to Rochester last summer.
-
Vibes everyone.
Must get ready for work.
:) ;) ;D

Tuesday morning greetings! So, I chickened out on driving to Dayton today for lunch with the grantwriters and coffee with my friend Sue. That decision was based on a winter storm warning that was to take effect at 11am, the exact time I would have left home. As soon as I received confirmations that both of my cancellation text messages had been received, the storm warning was pushed back to 4pm, about the time I'd be arriving home. Nuts!
-
I'm up - barely. Very gray out.
-
I see BRAIN FROM PLANET X is licensed by R&H!
I wonder if there's a chance in hell I could interest a local high school music director friend in taking a look at it. They do the traditional big book musical with full orchestra in the spring, but they're interested in mounting smaller scale one-week productions in the fall. They started last year with ONCE ON THIS ISLAND. Set change requirements would have to be pretty simple. No idea if the subject matter would be attractive to them, but I'll sure make them aware of it.
-
I'm awake. Feeling tired, but awake
-
The weather has started to warm up at last, after a long period of very cold weather. It's almost springlike today.

And The Song Of The Day Is: PUTTING IT TOGETHER
-
From DR Chas:
Just watched THE MASTER, and for the most part I liked it. Will let a little time pass then tackle it again, but tomorrow (too tired now) I'll watch that John Huston documentary which was apparently very influential in PTA's depiction of the "other" lead character and his WWII background.
Interesting-thanks for that bit of info. Please let me know what you think after watching the documentary.
-
DR Mike I'm glad you enjoyed your evening with Elaine Paige.

DR MBarnum did you see the photo of the missing dog in your area I put on your FB page?

Because I am not expected to be home at the time.....could some DR record SPRING REUNION with Betty Hutton when it is on TCM on Thursday at 6:15 p.m. EST and make me a copy....
I have never seen it, and who knows when it will be on again....if ever....

LOL that would be one way to do DR JOHN G.
I watched Ms Taylor and Mr Brando last night in REFLECTIONS IN A GOLDEN EYE - and they were both excellent in a very strange movie.....

Oy! What a mess. Can this winter just END, please?
I still don't know what we're getting here. Yesterday they were saying all the bad stuff would most likely be to the south. Or was it the north? Today the websites are calling for 3-to-5 inches or 4-to-8 inches, starting tomorrow night. But the Professional Weather Guessers all agree it's still very much "up in the air".

SPRING REUNION. I think Dorothy Neumann is in that one!
I have made a note to record it and will burn it onto DVD for you, Jack. I have some other DVDs I have been meaning to send you as well.

Ah most excellent, thank you.
I have ordered my set of WEST POINT from Amazon....and I look forward to seeing it.
Since we no longer have DR JMK to report on Frances Farmer news here - I shall just say that there is an EBAY seller listing a "hand-signed" photo of Frances....with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Unfortunately - it is Frances' "signature" on a photo of Irene Dunne.

They should look at it - several high schools have done it to great success and had lots o' fun doing it. Sets can be anything - black box, big, small or in-between - that's the joy of the show.

I have a Blu and Ray coming today - The Intouchables, which I'd like to watch - naturally it's coming via Ontrac and probably won't arrive until after four.

PAGE THREE FRED AND JUDY DANCE!!

One wonders what Frances was thinking while signing that photo. Perhaps the lighting in the bar was bad that night.

Or how about this dance:
Lovely!

I had notice, minus the hats. In the 2nd photo the flow of Judy's dress is prettier.

Perhaps.....yes DR GEORGE - I let the seller know...but usually doesn't mean anything.

Evening all! Not much to say from my end, no sink holes in yard, no email or phone calls from either AL or AC.
I am happy with my job now. The day just flys by. I have a nice boss who you can talk and laugh with. Great group of people to work with. One lady (still learning names, sorry) had her one year cancer free day today. They bought her a cake with the pink ribbon on it and we had cheese toast or muffins for breakfast. I thought that was super nice!
Just one last worry-- my last performance eval from the B and I'll be 100% free of her. I think I'm proving myself. I get asked to help people with the MS programs like Excel and Word. I'm turning out a fair chunk of work. I was called "Miss Productivity" today because I had a stack of paperwork to take to Civil Service. I only had 2 mistakes in the whole stack and the new boss told me "great job".
I've come up with several ideas on how to do things that we now do and I think am putting some good input since we are using them.
So if I get a bad review from the " " (I'll let you fill in the blank), I think my new boss will know that it was just her not me.
Best of all, I like going to work again. There is nothing worse than waking up and just dreading going to someplace you do NOT want to be. The hours just DRAG by.
Anyway, I know I'm gushing but I can't help it.
I'm hungry, going to go eat now.
-
I hope everything goes well, Danise!
-
Great news, Danise!
-
Jennifer, re what you asked last night - yes, that is the issue, Jonathan has been doing the very same work and is much beloved at City Center Encores for (I think) over four years doing their video work for all the Encores shows, doing marvelous truly spectacular work, very valued, apparently quite indispensable in duties based on the quality of work product.
-
Well the snow started here about 90 minutes ago.....and the ground and streets are already covered. It is expected to keep falling until 7 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Scary.
The news has been mostly about Chicago with some mention of the border of Indiana. Trying to track the storm it appears from you it will head to Craig in Maryland/DC.

Had a nice visit with Mr. James Marsden and business manager, and I do think within the next few weeks we'll get all the little things done to make the front of the house look great again, i.e. all the dry rot replaced, new fence doors, and stuff in the yard. They're going to have our gardener do a lot of tree trimming and gutter and roof cleaning - but both were delighted at how I've kept the house's interior in absolutely pristine condition - in fact, he said it looked better than when he lived here.

Yes. thanks for catching that. The item has been removed.
No explanation....but at least some unsuspecting person has been saved $39.99 and a rude awakening when showing off his "autographed" photo of Frances Farmer.

I think DR JANE is correct.

Someone on another site wrote they kept thinking someone on TV said "Got through a sinkhole by my pool"

DR Danise, I am SO happy the new job is much better!

Snow is coming!! One of the local DC channels is using the name "Snowquestration."
-
It's great that you're so happy at work, DR Danise!

Yesterday one of the men from the pump/water place came out to look at the leak in our water room. He said he would return at 7:30 this morning and replace the pipe which would take about 30 minutes.
At 8:00 he called to say he had locked his keys in the car.
He arrived around 8:30
Around 10:30 he left to get a part he needed, returning around 11:30
At 12:30 we left him finishing up and went to Costco.
-
When we returned from Costco Keith checked the work and found the original leak was fixed, however, there was a new one.
Fortunately one of the owners was in the area and came right out. He immediately knew what the first guy had done wrong & was able to fix it. He also checked on something else Keith had questions about.
The owner left around 4:30.
That was a long frustrating day waiting for the work to be done.
Keith says the first guy is extremely nice but there tend to be problems when he does the work. The owner told Keith he has had too many problems with this guy. It is a shame he isn't as competent as he is nice.
-
Snow is coming!! One of the local DC channels is using the name "Snowquestration."
I googled the definition of snowquestration and a number of news stories came up. ;D
-
Keith is currently taking out his frustrations by playing his new computer game. By now he should be engrossed in the world of Lara Croft.
-
Woops -- just came back from errands and eating and found myself still logged in. Not that it should matter, but I do like to either be here or not be here! :)
-
SINKHOLE SEASON??!!!
-
One should always be here.
-
Unless one isn't.
-
Two should always be here because two is more fun that one although one can be more fun than two if one of the two is a cretin.
-
Get me off this damn page.
-
Had a taco salad with chicken for lunch.
-
This ought to do it.
-
5.
-
Perhaps mine will. I've been assembling DEAREST ENEMY materials. New World is offering it as their October release, so i've been sending everything for the booklet to the producer to look over and tear apart. I also received the first edit of Act One from the producer, and i've downloaded it and burned it to CD. I'll listen tomorrow. I am a bit scared. The conductor did not behave very well last year and I hope I like or, if i don't, can live with what we've got.
-
Good. Page 5!

BK, maybe you could ask Mr. James Marsden if he'd be in one of your Kritzerland shows? You two do have a connection...your costume designer for What If?, Amy Adams, was his co-star in "Enchanted." Maybe you could invite them BOTH and have them perform together LIVE for the first time!
That would be cool. ;D
-
Marsden doesn't live in LA. And he seems to just go from film to film these days.

Good evening. In AZ the jury gets to submit questions to be asked of witnesses. They just said that they have over 100 that the jury want to ask Jodi! Both sides get them over night, but it will be interesting to see what they ask. This rule came into effect after I left AZ. I've never been in a jurisdiction where jurors could do this

Perhaps the question they want Jodi to answer is "were you always this crazy a bitch?"

Yikes!! You'd think the owner would either fire the guy or make sure that he really knew what the heck his employees were doing. :P

I am so pleased to hear this Danise!!

LOL. And if it's like the rest of the case. they've asked it 100 times

DR Elmore...thanks so much for the Playbill!

Here's a lovely review of our Kritzerland show: http://losangeles.broadwayworld.com/article/BWW-Reviews-Late-Great-Composer-Billy-Barnes-Gets-His-Due-via-Live-Kritzerland-Tribute-at-Sterlings-Upstairs-at-the-Federal-20130304

It is one terrific little musical. Great songs, amusing script. I believe the original cast recording is available thru Kritzerland.

I have it! Listened to some this evening. I totally agree it's terrific, and DR Elmore's orchestrations are wonderful.

Congrats to BK on another great review!

That was for DR Vixmom and DR George.

I have a Blu and Ray coming today - The Intouchables, which I'd like to watch - naturally it's coming via Ontrac and probably won't arrive until after four.
Last week, when I got home from Seattle, I had two packages waiting for me. One was delivered by Fed Ex and one by UPS. Oh and Ontrac left me a note that I had a package but it was Undeliverable.

thank you!

And then you asked him to appear in Season 3 of OUTSIDE THE BOX?
-
DR Danise, I am SO happy the new job is much better!
Me, too.

Fred Astaire:
Silk Stockings
Funny Face
Flying Down to Rio
The Gay Divorcee
I am stunned to find out that MBarnum has actually seen some normal movies.
I think most of the movies MBarnum talks about are normal. Wonder what that says about me.

Great review, BK, even if the writer somehow made it sound as if you were the one who had recorded "Billy Barnes' L.A."

Back from a lengthy dinner with a rep from Jordon Winery. Great food, great wine, but I'm tired. Still, I'm not ready for bed. Watching a little of "Laura" and matching the soundtrack with scenes from the movie.

Forgive my stupidity, but what does "New World offering it as their October release" mean?

New World is the recording company.

NIght, all.

Tired.

I will have much to say about The Intouchables in the notes, and even more to say about "critics" in this country and just how lame they are. The fact that most of these people are actually paid to write their tripe is the most shocking thing of all. Get ready.
