Well, you've read the notes, the notes were unevenly distributed, and now it is time for you to post until the unevenly distributed cows come home.

Perhaps MURDER will arrived in my mailbox today, of course I will be at work when it does.
Tomorrow I have my first round of auditions for ANGEL STREET. It is also graduation day for DePauw University, so I will not see any of those people until Monday night.

Appetizers:
Celery and Cheez Whiz.

As you can tell, I only attend sophisticated parties.

DR MBARNUM I have seen Indestructible Man....and I agree, I do not need to see it again.

Good morning, all! I stayed up late reading the Britten biography, and I slept in. Today is another day of leisure before I run through Bruce Pomahac's questions about possible errors in the ROBERTA vocal score. If there are indeed errors, then the corrections also happen n the full scores, and we cannot print the orchestra parts until they are correct.
Today, I'm doing very little. The Britten book has made me want to listen to PETER GRIMES, so I may do that.
-
It is Saturday morning, and it is good.
-
Good morning!

Good morning, all.
And I still haven't received my copy of the book here while I'm on vacation. ;D
Still no time to catch up.
Saw old friends from high school and college last night. Took Mom and Dad out for a 58th anniversary lunch at a beautiful place along the river. And we played dominos. Oh, yeah, did a lot of work on Mom's cookbook. Finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel on that project.

TOD:
Whatcha got? I'll eat it all.
Foie gras
Clams en brodo
Celery with cream cheese and almonds
Celery and other veggies with bagna cauda
Anchovies by themselves or wrapped around radishes
Raw ravioli (lime-soaked slivers of daikon radished) stuffed with goat cheese and pine nuts
Bruschetta with plenty of garlic in the tomato mix
Empandas

I am also a Delmar Daves fan.
Aside from JUBAL and 3:10 TO YUMA, I like BROKEN ARROW, THE LAST WAGON, PRIDE OF THE MARINES and THE RED HOUSE.
I wish they could come up with a decent print of that last one. The sound track on every print I've seen is terrible.

BK, love your blog today. I grew up falling in love with movies, watching them on TV cut up with commercials and so much static sometimes that it was like watching them through a snowstorm. What I responding to was THE STORY! If the story held me I didn't give a crap whether t was blue or orange or teal (most were black and white anyway) or whether it was soft or hard or limp or rigid. How anal does one have to be about this stuff? It's why I don't have to go to blu-ray. As long as I can see it, I'm fine. I've never understood audio-philes either who can distinguish nuances in their stereo equipment, "Can you hear the difference?" "No...but I can hear it and it sounds just fine to me."
-
Enjoyed the notes about the OCD Blu-ray “experts”. I get fed up with their constant obsession about grain. No review is now complete unless there’s mention of what the grain looks like. Then there are message board threads where people discuss their favourite grainy discs. Why don’t these people stick a sheet of gauze in front of their screens if they don’t like clear pictures?
Fact is, for decades grain was seen by cinematographers as not something good but something to be eliminated as much as possible through suitable lighting and exposure. The only time I ever noticed grain when watching films in theatres was if I was sitting too close to the screen – I soon learnt not to sit too close. I honestly think that these obsessive “experts” are doing great harm to the overall consumer take-up of Blu-ray.
-
They are indeed doing harm.
-
I'm up and shortly she of the Evil Eye will be here and I will go for a jog. I forgot to mention that not only did I do a three-mile jog, I did an additional mile and a half jog early last evening, thanks to some truly annoying news.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Technically, it's still morning.

Well, I have a rush ticket for the matinee of Pippin. I thought that 6:30am would be a good time to arrive. It's light by that time and it's only a 3 and a half hour wait instead of 4 hours. Well, at 6:30 there were already 14 people ahead of me. Luckily at No. 15 I got a ticket (they also sell both matinee and evening rush at 10am) but by 10am when they began the line was long enough that some people did not get a ticket. They sell 36 tickets (the first two rows of the orchestra) for $37. Oy, what I do for theatre. But the weather was decent and the line was calm. I had my media player so listened to WNYC on the radio and by 10:10am I had a ticket for the show.

Saturday afternoon greetings! I've spent this morning getting into Martha Moody's Sharp and Dangerous Virtues, a post-apocalyptic novel set in Dayton, OH. What's really scary is that her future is only 34 years from now!
-
Ooo, DR Ben, have fun at Pippin this afternoon! I saw it on Broadway in 1974.

Mention of CIRCUS BOY yesterday made me check on YouTube and I see there are a few complete episodes there. I used to enjoy that series as well as THE RANGE RIDER and BOOTS AND SADDLES about the same time in the mid '50s.
-
Good morning. I took the car in for service at 8:30 AM (which is why I didn't want to stay up too late last night). man, I set the alarm, but went back to sleep and had to roll out of bed and rush to get there on time.
-
Then I went to the farmer's market and got some fresh asparagus.
-
Then I came home, cleaned the kitchen and am hanging out with the cats.
-
Mmm, nothing like fresh asparagus!
-
Now I'm going to mow the yard....
-
Mmm, nothing like fresh asparagus!
And so much better from the garden than the grocery store
-
From DR TCB:
I swear, since I retired, I have had a problem remembering what day it is.
I had a fear of this happening so about the first thing I do when I wake up is tell myself what day of the week it is. ;D
-
From DR George:
but there were a couple of times where the noise of what was going on drowned out the voices a bit.
I have a real problem with that and my hearing aids actually magnify the problem :(
I'm glad to know I won't have to deal with whispering :)
-
DR George I bet you are glad you forgot your aunt's were arriving ;)

Sadly there aren't any in our garden this year. :(

Morning ;)
-
Be back later.
Going to see Lonesome Traveler at 2pm.
Jennifer Leigh Warren is one of the featured artists.
When I saw her parked in front of my house the other day, I told her how much I loved her song from bk's Two's Company show at the Alex Theatre.
Anyway, got to go.
The new book arrived. ;D ;D
-
Have a great Saturday everyone. :)
-
I’ve been watching the film TOTAL RECALL - the 2012 remake. I can usually find something of interest in the most dire film but have to admit failure on this occasion because this is an absolutely terrible film lacking a cohesive plot or interesting characterisations. It’s just a continuous series of chases and fights which become mind-numbingly boring. After an hour I was wishing it would hurry up and end but there was still another hour to go. In comparison, the Schwarzenegger original is a masterful piece of film making.
-
Hello Everyone:
Beautiful Saturday here in The Buffalo NY area.
Went to a Memorial Service for my Aunt Margie. Great to see family I haven't seen in a while on my Father's side.
-
I want to watch a good mystery tonight. Anyone have any suggestions?
-
A few days ago I watched The Bridges of Madison County. Great movie with Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood.
I love when a movie moves me emotionally.

Page three? Barely? Really?
-
Did a three-mile jog, ate some bacon and eggs and toast, then dropped some CDs off to Barry Pearl, sat with him and his co-director at lunch, picked up a couple of packages and am now home and must write.

Since the Fort Wayne (IN) Civic Theatre is doing my play, LOMBARD, at the end of this month, the Fort Wayne Reader did a nice interview with me.

I have not received the hardback book yet I have been reading Murder at the High School Musical on my Nook except my battery died so now I am waiting for it to recharge
Can you read while it is recharging? I know you can do that with a kindle. But not sure if you can do it if the battery is completely dead. I always recharge at half way.

I can with my Nook. If it is completely dead it takes about 5 or 10 minutes and then I can begin reading.

No book yet, and I've looked all over this Days Inn!
-
Eating some popcorn and working on the commentary - I couldn't begin it until I had an approximate show order - all our shows are difficult to figure out, but this one was REALLY hard and I'm not quite sure I've got it yet.
-
Loved Pippin!
Will write more later.
-
Not much to post about in Washington, PA.

I was finishing a book so I can begin a new one tonight.
-
I need to order, or not order, the two new Twilight Time Blu-rays. I don't think I ever saw either film. HARD TIMES and THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN.
-
Quote from BK's notes:
Heavy diffusion on all of Miss Hepburn’s close-ups
Does that mean they used a filter to make her look younger? Like they failed to do very well on Lucille Ball in MAME?
-
Appetizers:
Celery and Cheez Whiz.
Together, or separately?
-
Trying to figure out why my body is aching. I think it may be because my niece got a scooter. And I ran around the block probably 20 times chasing her (she is too young to go around by herself).

I have a ton of books to read.

-
Looking forward to hearing about Pippin.

Last night, I watched a motion picture on Blu and Ray entitled 3:10 to Yuma, starring Mr. Glenn Ford and Mr. Van Heflin,

A few days ago I watched The Bridges of Madison County. Great movie with Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood.
I love when a movie moves me emotionally.
It's one of my favorite Eastwood-directed films.
My parents visited the house where it was filmed. We have a really funny photo of my parents in the bathtub (fully clothed)

Went for dinner at my friends' house in Fairfax.

no scary weather vibes for Cilla

Why do weather people on TV act as if the higher the temperature the better. They'll say--it's going to be 80 on Monday , 85 on Tuesday and 96 on Wednesday, with more enthusiasm with each day's forecast!
-
I post this from another poster in Forgotten Musical talking about 110 in the Shade as BK is mentioned
Tom Jones wrote a feature story about it for Theatre Week back when the Ziemba revival was on. Well worth a read if you can find it. (A version of it is included in his book MAKING MUSICALS.) Incidentally, I met them about 20 years ago when I was hoping to do a revue of their work in London. Fishing for trunk material, I asked them if they had written a new song for 110 in London (knowing full well that they had.) Tom said "No, we didn't." Harvey said "Yes we did." Tom said "No, we didn't!" Harvey said, "Yes, and I was going to offer it to Bruce Kimmell." Tom said, "No, you're not!" Thern he finally explained that Emil Littler had insisted that every musical had to have a title song. "How do you write a song with THAT title?"
-
Kate and Kevin I am sorry to hear of your loss

Tomorrow is Pentecost

Don't think there will be anything too serious

That was before we called our new Pastor

Thank you, vixmom!!!

Now we dress in red and give wine to 10 year old children

Oh, I forgot to mention that I got to have lunch this week with two old friends from Oz - Tomovoz and partner, Colin.
-
They have been traveling with other folk, so there time was not their own.
-
But they said to pass on their "Hello" to all.
-
Hi Cilla!
-
Well, I guess my work here is done.
G'night!
-
Didn't Jrand get his book today - he's usually the first to read and report and I'm very much looking forward to it.
-
I spent the entire evening writing the commentary - I realize I have to swap two songs in the show order, much as I don't want to.
-
Today, I went to work for a few hours, then went with the family (including my dad's two sisters who are visiting from California) to a performance by Hot Club Sandwich (http://www.hotclubsandwich.com/), at Traditions Cafe and World Folk Art here in Olympia! This is only the second time that I've seen them and they're very good! They play gypsy jazz...the kind of music that Django Reinhardt played and made famous.
-
My two aunts (Mary Lou and Sister Cecilia...she's an actual nun!) arrived yesterday afternoon and directly went with my mom and my mom's friend Mona to the local casino. They said that they got there around 6pm yesterday evening and didn't leave until 6am THIS MORNING! They actually were there for 11 and a half hours (they had a 15 minute drive each way)!
-
They said that the only reason they left at 6am was because Mona's butt was hurting and she wanted to leave. :D
-
I'm now watching tonight's season seven finale of "Doctor Who."
-
I also have all of today's posts to read, then I'll be all caught up,
-
DR George I bet you are glad you forgot your aunt's were arriving ;)
Actually, I was...seeing "Star Trek Into Darkness" was worth it AND they weren't at my parents' house, anyway.
-
I saw a production of A Little Night Music this evening. Man, it was boring. I think I just don't like the material. I think I dozed the last few minutes or more. I like most of the score, but I don't like any of the characters, or at least don't care about them.
I got my apartment today. Can't wait to move ASAP.
-
No book yet, and I've looked all over this Days Inn!
I had mine sent to my work and we're closed on weekends...at least, the mail area is. I won't get mine until next week.
-
Since the Fort Wayne (IN) Civic Theatre is doing my play, LOMBARD, at the end of this month, the Fort Wayne Reader did a nice interview with me.
