Saturday afternoon greetings!  I've spent this morning getting into Martha Moody's Sharp and Dangerous Virtues, a post-apocalyptic novel set in Dayton, OH.  What's really scary is that her future is only 34 years from now!

Ooo, DR Ben, have fun at Pippin this afternoon!  I saw it on Broadway in 1974.

Well, I have a rush ticket for the matinee of Pippin. I thought that 6:30am would be a good time to arrive. It's light by that time and it's only a 3 and a half hour wait instead of 4 hours. Well, at 6:30 there were already 14 people ahead of me. Luckily at No. 15 I got a ticket (they also sell both matinee and evening rush at 10am) but by 10am when they began the line was long enough that some people did not get a ticket. They sell 36 tickets (the first two rows of the orchestra) for $37. Oy, what I do for theatre. But the weather was decent and the line was calm. I had my media player so listened to WNYC on the radio and by 10:10am I had a ticket for the show.

Good show, DR Ben! Have a good time!

Mention of CIRCUS BOY yesterday made me check on YouTube and I see there are a few complete episodes there. I used to enjoy that series as well as THE RANGE RIDER and BOOTS AND SADDLES about the same time in the mid '50s.

Good morning.   I took the car in for service at 8:30 AM (which is why I didn't want to stay up too late last night).  man, I set the alarm, but went back to sleep and had to roll out of bed and rush to get there on time.

Then I went to the farmer's market and got some fresh asparagus.

From DR TCB:

I swear, since I retired, I have had a problem remembering what day it is.

I had a fear of this happening so about the first thing I do when I wake up is tell myself what day of the week it is.  ;D

From DR George:

but there were a couple of times where the noise of what was going on drowned out the voices a bit.

I have a real problem with that and my hearing aids actually magnify the problem :(
I'm glad to know I won't have to deal with whispering :)

Saw old friends from high school and college last night. Took Mom and Dad out for a 58th anniversary lunch at a beautiful place along the river. And we played dominos. Oh, yeah, did a lot of work on Mom's cookbook. Finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel on that project.

Sounds like a good visit. :)

I did an additional mile and a half jog early last evening, thanks to some truly annoying news.

I have always found running to be the best way to deal with annoying news.

My book arrived, too, with lots of chochkes! Since DR MBarnum's apartment is the Land Where GoodChochkes go, I hope he's ordered a copy, too!

Be back later.

Going to see Lonesome Traveler at 2pm.

Jennifer Leigh Warren is one of the featured artists.

When I saw her parked in front of my house the other day, I told her how much I loved her song from bk's Two's Company show at the Alex Theatre.

Anyway, got to go.

The new book arrived.   ;D ;D

I’ve been watching the film TOTAL RECALL - the 2012 remake. I can usually find something of interest in the most dire film but have to admit failure on this occasion because this is an absolutely terrible film lacking a cohesive plot or interesting characterisations. It’s just a continuous series of chases and fights which become mind-numbingly boring. After an hour I was wishing it would hurry up and end but there was still another hour to go. In comparison, the Schwarzenegger original is a masterful piece of film making.

Hello Everyone:

Beautiful Saturday here in The Buffalo NY area.
Went to a Memorial Service for my Aunt Margie.  Great to see family I haven't seen in a while on my Father's side.
