Well, you've read the notes, the notes were ghost-like and went west, and now it is time for you to post until the ghost cows come home.

LOL DR TCB......I have yet to see the sparkle this year....  There were lovelies running in and  out of the rehearsal space last night being as loud as they possibly could.....

And as we were reading, one of the sparkles came up and interrupted us to ask where she could find a stool to sit on.....I told her to ask her director....

I don't know if anybody here watches SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.

But the last night audition last night was one of the most moving I've seen. This guy who auditioned last year is called the Exorcist (it's the kind of dancing he does). Anyhow he auditioned again and he brought his 4 year old daughter. And she danced. IT was incredible. Loved it.

Good morning, all! I slept late because I stayed up too late. But I am dressed and moving about, and I will shortly put my laundry into the washers. I have to stay close to the apartment today because I've got two packagws to be signed for when they show up. Since one is perishable, I need to be here.

Tomorrow I am back to Toyland. I have a possible note error that needs checking, and I hope that I can begin my list of final corrections before we print the recording orchestra parts.

I first saw JOSEPH ANDREWS at the Carnegie Hall Cinema, which no longer exists. My memory is that it was on a double bill with THE DUELLISTS. I remember nothing of that film now, but I still remember how much I loved Ann-Margret as Lady Booby and Beryl Reid as Slipslop. It's a much coarser film than TOM JONES, which is close to perfect IMO, and my memory is that the screenplay is not as faithful to Henry Fielding's novel as Johb Osborne's for TOM JONES.

Last night, the air conditioning wasn't working at the dance studio, so it was like Bikram ballroom. And, of course, one class was focused on bolero, which is strenuous and really up close and personal. Just what you want when it feels like it's 100 degrees in the room.

MBarnum:  Regarding the woman captured on camera hurrying along past the man in London -- I'm with you on this one.  If I'm walking down the street and suddenly come upon a crazed-eyed man wielding a bloody machete explaining, on camera, why he hacked to death the soldier lying dead on the sidewalk, I'd be making tracks, too.

Right, Ron! She looked like she was really hoping he would not notice her...either that or she was unaware of what was going on of thought it was some bizarro candid camera thing. Or she was just in shock.

The laundry is finished and for the first time in decades I lost a sock. I hate that.

I also rearranged my furniture for the benefit of the AC and now I have no space to move about. I'd kill for another room. When my sweaty body - it's really humid today! - cools down, I may walk to 85th Street and purchase a tall, narrow bookcase.

I must say, Elmore, while listening to Cinderella that your favorite singing actress comes across quite poorly. She's anything but magical. In fact, she simply sounds old and tired, and I don't mean in just the scene where she's meant to be an old bag lady.

I'd have asked:  "What's it to you?"  It may have been a "cold call" and he may have had no idea with whom he was speaking...just calling to see if he could represent you in either a sale or a buy (cheeky monkey that he was!).

To all those idiots on chat boards praising her as the greatest gift to musical theatre, I find her voice unremarkable and unpleasant. On "Jule Styne In Hollywood" (PS Classics) her thin tone does nothing for the beautiful "Winter Was Warm." I am amused these days by her press keeping her in the news: she wants that Tony!

She and Danny Troob are the two reasons I'm not purchasing the CD or seeing the production. Danny's work is good, but I found him a totally unpleasant creep working on a CD with him about 20 years ago.

I did call him back - he got very nervous and immediately gave me the web address of the "do not call registry" - a government policing organization - it was indeed a cold call.  I went to that .gov website and registered both of my numbers - after thirty-one days if any telemarketer or person like that calls, I can then register a complaint with them.  Also, I didn't know you can register a complaint there even if you don't register your number if you get a telemarketer call that's a machine rather than a person.

I also went to the Intelius site, which is a class action lawsuit in the making.  In order to opt out of having your information there, you have to send them a form of identification online or by fax - they ask you to black out your photo and license number if using your license.  What a crock.  They make it so no one can opt out because who is going to send a form of ID to these scumsuckers - what's next - they put THAT online.  Class action lawsuit in the making!

We are a town, not a city.  You didn't mention Tacoma was left out ;)  It was also colder at our house than in the town of Ashland, maybe 36 degrees yesterday.  I'm sure it was much colder overnight when the snow fell.

I know Danny from a show more than 25 years ago and found him a nice person. And I have liked his work in the past, especially Big River. His orchestrations for Cinderella, however, are too colorless and homogenized.

Yup.

I was awakened by the ringing of the cell phone - I didn't answer it, but the same person called back five minutes later and I did answer and this is what I heard: "Hi, this is so-and-so, I'm a real estate broker - when are you planning to move?"  I said, "I'm not."  He said thank you and hung up.  I may call back the number and demand to know how he got the cell phone number, which very few people have.

Does your phone have a block option?  We recently began blocking unwanted calls.

And after an extended amount of time the callers get lax or they figure out ways to say they are legal to call, such as a survey.

I'm glad you nailed the guy.

I left the apartment as a drizzle began. By the time I reached  the furniture store, there was a downpour. I paid for the bookcase (10% Memorial Day discount) and tld the clerk I'd come for it tomorrow. I waited for a break in the storm, and about fifteen minutes later it was over. I carried the bookcase the three blocks home, and it's set up. waiting for me to fill the shelves. Excellent, and the whole thing cost me after discount $79.00.

I got a new bike helmet but I have to give it back. :(

It's too bad because it was a really good deal. I thought it fit at the store. But I couldn't completely try it on properly because it had cardboard attached to the top that I could not take off.

It feels too tight. I looked at my old bike helmet and it says 54-60cms. And the new one says 54-57 cms.

DR Jennifer maybe the store can exchange your helmet for the correct size at the same price.  Next time ask them to remove the cardboard while you try it on.  It is terribly annoying all the attached crap we have to deal with when trying on clothes.  I've insisted on items being removed for me that were simply too bulky to work around.

I looked for someone in the department for quite a while. There was nobody.  This was the only size for that price. I scanned 4 helmets and they were all different prices (and not marked).

I wanted to get them to remove the cardboard. You could still try it on. I just couldn't feel that it was tight with the cardboard there. :(

It's no biggie. I will return it (it was Walmart). I just thought it fit.

I actually need to go to a different Walmart tomorrow. So I will bring it back there. ANd maybe there will be other helmets at that one. Also I was looking for a certain kind of sandal. So maybe this Walmart will have them.

I know DR George.  It is terribly annoying to try on most close with this card thing hitting you.

When Bryan was in 9th grade we had an exchange student from England stay with us in Connecticut.  We went on a family trip to Philadelphia, stopping at the Six Flags Park in New Jersey on the way.  The day was somewhat chilly and the boys got very wet on one of the rides I didn't have the heart to say No Way too.  We had to take them to one of the park shops & buy them clothes, including park themed boxers.  I, of course, didn't check out the exchange students boxers which set off the alarms as he walked out of the shop.  He was totally oblivious as I, with lightening speed, intercepted the security guard and explained the situation. ;D

Title: Re: THE GHOST SITE GOES WEST
Post by: ChasSmith on May 23, 2013, 05:49:05 PM
They don't advertise them at all!

They apparently run trailers at the theater, but just about the only people who know about these things are the internet-savvy types who specifically follow that kind of subject.  But movies like that and The Birds and all the rest that get shown for only one day should, in my silly opinion, be filled up with the plain everyday "normal" people who do know about and do like those films.  It's crazy.

Oh, sometimes a newspaper columnist mentions them, but ... geez.
Title: Re: THE GHOST SITE GOES WEST
Post by: ChasSmith on May 23, 2013, 05:51:34 PM
I asked my manager friend, and fortunately it doesn't cost the theater anything to run them.  In fact, they have to as a part of their agreements with the studios, in return for whatever privileges they get with current features.  Or something like that.  And this theater has 15 other screens, so at least they're not hurting when only two people show up.  But it's still a ridiculous situation.

What kind of stuff do you have when you try on clothes? We only have the price tags.

We have those hard plastic things that set of "sirens" when you leave the store with them still attached.

The only place I've seen those is Winners. But they take them off in the changing rooms.

The dressing rooms??  Every place that I've ever gotten clothes doesn't remove the alarm tag(s) until after I've PAID for the item(s)!

They remove them when you try the clothes on. Then put them back when you leave the dressing room.

I noticed yesterday that you can no longer get a kindle shipped to Canada from amazon.com. It re-directs you to amazon.ca.  I get that they would prefer that you buy it at .ca.  And I get that they want to promote that .ca is now selling them. But my account and all my gift cards are at .com. I feel like if I want to order it from .com I should still be allowed and I find it very odd that they no longer allow us to do it.

Amazon.ca only sells 4 models. What if you want a different one?

I am curious how many Canadians with kindles switched their kindles to .ca.  I didn't. But wish that I could use both. And wish that my giftcards could be used at both. My account is good at all amazons. But that is it.

I'm not sure why so many people are surprised that the Jodi Arias jury couldn't make a decision on life or death.  That's a pretty tough decision.  I could never vote for death.  I heard the split was 8 death 4 life.
So, now they have to get a new jury if the County Attorney is going to push the death penalty.  They don't have to start over, but they have to present all the evidence they think is relevant for the decision of life or death.

One of the reasons I'm not sure it's the prairie falcon is that they don't usually nest in trees and my neighbor watched them build this nest and they are definitely living in it.  They also are a little farther west than here.  I realize they could be outside their area, but I'm just not sure.

If I had a crumpet I'd do something fun with it.  If I had a strumpet the strumpet could have the crumpet and I'd just have to lump it or bump it with a trumpet.

Well, it's a new page and close to the new day, but I need to get to bed now.  I can barely keep my eyes open.  Tomorrow, my sister and my visiting aunts and I are going to see "Star Trek Into Darkness."  I've seen it in IMAX 3D, but they don't want to see that version...we're going to the regular 2D version.  And since I have coupons, we can save $2 on EACH ticket!  Score!

Good night, all!
