Use it without the smf and it will take you to the new notes.
DR elmore3003, there is a long "Britten 100" retrospective piece by Anthony Tommasini in tomorrow's "Arts & Leisure" section of the Times.
And a long piece (with photos) about male nudity on Broadway and Off-. But I don't think there are any DRs that would be interested in that.
Truck carrying 6,000 gallons of Scotch overturns and catches fire in NJ (http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/truck_carrying_gallons_of_scotch_c0wD25qlNMBFZeSawrTEaK)
June 5, 2013
A tractor-trailer carrying a tank of 6,000 gallons of Scotch whiskey overturned on a New Jersey road this week — and then the liquor caught fire, officials said. “For us, it is unusual. We usually deal with gasoline tankers on the Turnpike, but to get a whisky tanker turning over in the middle of a residential neighborhood is uncommon,” said Fords Fire Company official Frank DellaPietro.
No one was injured, but the flaming booze did set a Cadillac ablaze before flowing into the gutter, he said. There’s no difference between extinguishing Scotch and gasoline, DellaPietro said: “it’s a flammable liquid. Once you put foam on it, it’s out.
The Woodbridge Township officials did not know what brand of whiskey suddenly ended up on the rocks.
What a lovely photos and memories, DR Ginny!

Finding these photos did, indeed, bring back some great memories, DR Singdaw! I'd moved to Ohio by the time Mom & Dad took on this venture (he did the financial work and the graphic design - the logo is his). They opened in 1979 and the store was up for sale when Dad died in 1984. Mom took it off the market for a while, but proceeded to sell when Border's announced a new store 5 miles away. It sold about the time Rob was born in 1985 and Mom moved to Phoenix the next year.
DR Jane, what a beautiful sunset. You are so fortunate to have such a lovely view right from your home! I would never tire of it. Thanks for sharing!
Oh...I forgot THE BACHELOR AND THE BOBBY SOXER!
One of my favorites from Mr. Blandings is a telephone call:
"What? Yes. We can't move in 30 days. No. No. I have a lease. It's impossible. No. You will be hearing from my lawyer. No. No."
"What is it, dear?"
"We're moving in 30 days."
And the word of the day is: BURGEON!
Addendum:
DADDY LONG LEGS - because how can I not, with such a great picture, above?
~ ~ ~ VIBES ~ ~ ~ for a well-attended and successful book signing for bk!
Dentist visit vibes for DR VIXMOM.
Book signing vibes for MR BK......vibes for a BIG crowd.
Busy day today. I won't be around much.
Further in the VIBES for Mystery & Imagination, here are two tantalizing pictures found somewhere on the web several years ago. This was the Dover Book Shop at 2672 Broadway, NYC, in 1945. Follow the links, where you can zoom in for a much closer look at what's there. These photos kill me. It's a look into a different world. While I never knew that store, I knew others, in other towns, in the 1960s and 1970s, that were similar in style, feel, and content.
From one of the NYC rags: :)

Good morning. The coat show remains intact, however, one of our cast members is in major trouble. He's being allowed to finish the show (tonight is the last night), however, he can't participate in the cast party and couldn't go bowling last night. The administration was nice in that respect. He's a good kid who made stupid choices.
In the bookstore nostalgia department, I thought you might like to see the little gem that my Mom opened when she was about the age I am now. It was in downtown Northville, Michigan, and was 8 feet wide and 40 feet long.
Here is the sales counter and the hardcover side of the store:

Memories, indeed. Thank you for posting those.
There can never be enough pictures of bookstores and theaters from our past.
Bye, Jane! :D
I must say I am unhappy with all these adolescent avatars. It was fun for a moment, but I can't tell who anyone is and I am having a bitch of a time skipping posts.

DR Doug you were a darling, very English looking, school boy.

And while I love a loopy DR TCB as much as the next person, I do hope that he is felling 100% better today.
I see that DR JoseSPiano has not been about here lately, but most of you are friends of his on Facebook, so you know that he will be a featured singer (along with a few hundred other folks) on the "No Time at All" track of this new cast album:

Does anyone here remember seeing WHEN THE BOYS MEET THE GIRLS? Interesting cast. Connie Francis, Harve Presnell, Sam the Sham and the Pharohs, Herman's Hermits, Louis Armstrong, and ..... Liberace!
Went to pick up my yellow Parisian cake that I ordered two days ago - it wasn't there - they didn't have the order. And they didn't care. I bought the chocolate version and a strawberry shortcake and I will let them know they have lost me as a customer at that bakery forever. If I want a Parisian cake I will simply go to the LA bakery that invented the cake - on 3rd Street near La Cienega.

Yes, she did, DR Jane. The buyer expanded into a larger corner space and still couldn't compete with the megastore. She didn't have the book-selling skills my Mom had.
Well got two cavities filled and now waiting to see if the next three crowns will be approved by the insurance co
The radiation treatment wreaked havoc on my teeth - but it was a small price to pay
I read, and all that got a lot of laughs, which was lovely, especially the bit of Patrick Bronstein that I read. This book is really the funniest of the Hofstetters. Then I answered some very good questions, and then we served the two cakes, both of which completely went. Then a few of us went not to Granville's but to BJ's where I had salmon and scallops, both of which were horrid.
DR Ben I just noticed you aged ;)
Replacing Rob Ashford is always a good idea. Replacing him with a flavor of the moment won't help - this completely boring new thing of taking all these recent movies and making them into musicals is certainly the dreariest trend ever and hopefully will stop when enough of them bomb.
There is an anti smoking advertisement playing here featuring a woman who has lost her larnyx and has a microphone in her throat so she can speak , and who has had some disfiguring facial surgery - every time I see that I count my blessings ... there but for the Grace of God go I....
A couple of months ago the University of Michigan Alumni Association asked on Facebook, "What would you pick as the song of your U-M years. I replied, "Almost 45 years later, 'Hey, Jude' puts me right back in the Bursley Hall snack bar." The Alumni magazine summer issue arrived today with the ultimate Michigan playlist on page 64. My comment is #2 of 15. Because they're listed in ascending chronological order, I should be #1 (as the earliest graduate), but they put Dhani Jones - famous football player - in the top spot.
T. J. Lubinsky has another PBS fund-raising special on tonight celebrating the music of Burt Bacarach. I don't know if it is new, but I have never seen it before. Anyway one of the songs on the "Pledge Gift" album is a duet of THEY DON'T GIVE MEDALS TO YESTERDAY'S HEROS sung by Dionne Warwick and B. J. Thomas. I have never heard that duet. Now I have to track it down or pledge $150.Good news, the Dionne Warwick CD is only a pledge of $75.00

HI TCB
Hello! I wanted to say good morning but I realized that it's still Saturday on the west coast.
I have it on good authority that a certain singer, initials BB, is going to the concert Monday night. My two favorite singers together, except only one of them is performing.
TCB--- that is so funny! I didn't see your post until after I posted mine!
