TCB, regarding "Once Before i Go" in BOY FROM OZ, do you see there whether it was BEFORE the stunning "I Go To Rio" finale at the point they taped that.

If it's before "I Go To Rio" then he didn't break character, and it's meant to levae the crowd with a hopeful feeling that his legend/music lives on.

(best comparison for me is it's in a way like the (IMHO) very smart ending to the musical AIDA, rather than ending with despair, they add on something that sends the auidence out with hope.)

Good morning, all! The laundry is in the washers and the rains have arrived.

I slept rather well, with one HUGE nightmare around 5:30am about ROBERTA, the Foundation, and my future. Ugh. Speaking of ROBERTA, the Kern estate doesn't understand why the show is never done, but the answer is so clear: the rental parts are a complete mess and no one's got the time to sort through 20 orchestra parts deciphering notes. I shouldn't complain about Kern; it's the same with Porter, Weill and others.

So, I'll finish the laundry, dry off, and deliver the scores to the Kern office, Then, my least favorite part of this quarter, I need to pay my estimated taxes.

All of the really bad weather was far north of us, so we didn't even have rain at the theatre last night, which was very nice.  We had 152 in attendance, so it wasn't overcrowded or too uncomfortable.....  The kids added about 10 minutes to the show by talking S L O W L Y for some reason, and the set changes were S L O W as well.....

I have to get a nonregional Blu-Ray player, but first I have to get a secure job. I only have one disc and that THE FIRST NUDIE MUSiCAL.

Laundry is done and I have to head for midtown. It was pouring when I left the laundromat with my dry clothes. Thank God they were wrapped in my large kitchen throw rug.

This decision is not going to help people who are trying to break into show business. Yes, I believe that you should pay interns "something" (it gives them more incentive), but with 1000s of people trying to enter the film/TV industry every year, internships are a gateway for a person without experience to prove their worth. Now, with this ruling, many of those opportunities are going to disappear.

So typical.  These kiddies knew exactly what they were getting into and they did so willingly, as do hundreds of others.  There were no surprises.  At some point, they decided to do this rather inane lawsuit and an inane judge let them win, just as an inane judge let some idiot who burned herself with coffee at McDonald's win that inane lawsuit.  I mean, honestly, I could go into Jerry's Deli, pour hot coffee on my arm and sue them and win.  What kind of madness is that?  Big madness.  No one told these boys it was an "official training program" with an endgame - EVER.  But this idiot judge makes a ruling.  Fox will appeal it and hopefully have it overturned.

In other madness news, am I mistaken or is this not summer?  All these storms and raining and crap.  Anyone who doesn't think we are in the midst of some serious what they call "global warming" issues really needs to put their head back in the sand.

I guess I should jog in a little while, then eat (not Jerry's - I may have to take a hiatus for the summer - yesterday I got there at just before noon and got the last booth and not one I like - it just gets earlier and earlier and now everyone is showing up early and filling the restaurant until two o'clock.  So, either I wait until then or I eat elsewhere, where these problems don't exist until everyone sees what I am doing, at which point they will all imitate :)

Thanks, Fred, for answering my question.  I know it really doesn't matter, the show is long gone; but it just bothers me that they are basically suckering the audience into giving Hugh a second standing ovation.

Also, it is hard to tell whether the audience is applauding for the other cast members during "Rio" because they have cut off the sound on the audience.

Opens tonight. Much as I did not like the show, I very much liked the work of my friends Curtis Moore, Chase Brock, Peter Foley, and Andrea Grody.

Pictured up top: Haaz Sleiman, Jennifer Damiano, and Leslie Odom, Jr.; Pictured above: Uzo Aduba, Jennifer Damiano, Jonathan-David,Claybourne Elder, Leslie Odom, Jr., Victoria Platt, Angela Polk, Matt Sax, Haaz Sleiman, Devin Roberts, Semhar Ghebremichael, Manuel Stark, Emilee Dupre.

I am confused as to who is who.

I see the problem. The top row is not in the photo!

DR Jane - You asked if I make fruitcake recently. No I cant cook cakes at all.

Do you eat one every Christmas?  My mother even made her own marzipan topping.

On top of the marzipan was the hard frosting that she then topped with Christmas decorations, which I do have.

The mariachi tradition is strong here, which, I guess, is unknown outside the area. Plus, he was referred to by Spanish stage name, which contributed to some of the ignorance. He's being great about it all, and the Spurs have invited him back to sing again at the next home game. That's practically unheard of here, because so many want to do sing the anthem.

Having pretty much isolated where these disgusting June bugs were getting into the house (via the open mail box slot outside and then into the house because the cover of the inside slot is a grill with many holes in it), the final thing I had the worker do was get a flap for the outside so the slot wasn't open.  That's now there and there is now no way for the dreaded June bugs to get in that way - in fact, when he was removing what was there he found a bunch of dead ones - so, hopeful that that solves that problem.

Waiting for the trapper.  This morning the traps were empty and this noon there was a ground hog in one and a very small raccoon in another.  It's not my raccoon looks like a juvenile.  Sorry that it will be released away from it's family, but maybe it's family will be joining it soon

I felt bad that the ground hog was panting and in the sun, so I poured some water through the cage into the bait cup and put up something to give it some shade.  It was cloudy when I got home.  The trapper is out of town because his mother in law is in the hospital.  He said he'd be here around 7:00  Well he's late.  If he isn't here by 7:30 I'll call him.  I feel bad having animals in traps in my yard.  Want to get them to wherever they are going

Did anyone here ever play MYST?  I bought it right after I bought my first computer.  My God, the hours of sleep I lost with that game.  I would be working on one of the puzzles, and next thing I know, it is three o'clock in the morning.  I hadn't thought about it in years.

I never played it but Vixdad has had 5 of them -  he says he thinks the 2nd   and the 4th were the best ones

10-year-old San Antonio kid who sang the national anthem before the Spurs game the other night has become the center of some madness that just makes me sad:

That sounds like a day without sunshine. Which it is, in these parts.   :-\

It sure is.  But I'm about to grill a burger on the (covered) deck, so all is not lost.

medium please  with maybe a nice slice of muenster cheese melted on top and a slice of roasted red pepper, and maybe some sauteed mushrooms ....

thank you kindly

Did you hear about the Georgia woman who had 3 million dollars deducted from her bank account?  Boy, I don't always balance my check book, but that is ridiculous.

Actually, Tom, she had three-HUNDRED-million (http://xfinity.comcast.net/video/Bank-Account-Error-Lands-Woman-300M-in-Debt/33337923570/Comcast/Today_in_Video/?cid=hero_sf_TIV) taken out of her account!! :o

Did I miss the part where they say how much she had in each account to begin with?  How can they deduct more than she had!?!

Not yet.  It's been a cool afternoon and evening so the animals aren't in any danger.  He's with his sick mother in law somewhere, so I can't get too upset.  Going to call him in a few minutes though, just to see if he's close to coming by and to remind him.  It's cash in his pocket, so he should remember

They never said how much she had to begin with...but if it's an automatic withdrawal by the bank itself (for instance), it wouldn't matter if she had enough in there or not.  It would just go through as a withdrawal and her account would be overdrawn. :P

If it's automated, I wouldn't count on it.  There was one time at work when I had accidentally ordered 112, count 'em, 112 copies of a title and all 112 copies were sent...and because we had the vendor preprocess them with our barcodes and property stamps, they COULDN'T be sent back.  It was our (my) mistake.  Fortunately, it was a children's book and every library branch got at least one copy.  The last 80 or so copies were given away as summer reading program prizes.  But we had them hanging around in boxes for several years before someone had the idea for the giveaway.

I'm hoping it smells the new bait in the traps....fingers crossed

Apparently that doesn't work, not sure why, but pretty consistent that it doesn't.  I did find another possible wildlife removal service when I checked the internet tonight.  I'm going to call them tomorrow and see if they will actually go in the attic and see what's up there.     I think the raccoon is out for the night....so it should be quiet until about 5:00 AM when it comes back.  Unless it's had babies.....

One of my FB friends just posted this recipe and for some reason it made me think that TCB would like it - could be just because of the name....

APPLE ANGEL DUMP CAKE

INGREDIENTS:

1 CAN APPLE PIE FILLING
1 BOX ANGEL FOOD CAKE MIX (DRY)
SUGAR
CINNAMON
CARAMEL (OPT)

DIRECTIONS:

MIX THE DRY ANGEL FOOD CAKE MIX WITH THE APPLE PIE FILLING, POUR INTO A GREASED 9X13 CAKE PAN, SPRINKLE WITH CINNAMON AND SUGAR.
BAKE AT 350@ FOR 20-30 MINUTES.
DO NOT OVER BAKE, CAKE IS DONE WHEN BROWNED ON TOP BUT NOT COMPLETELY SET.
( IF USING A GLASS PAN BAKE AT 325@)

REMOVE FROM OVEN AND SERVE WITH A DOLLOP OF COOL WHIP.
ALSO GREAT WITH VANILLA ICE CREAM AND CARAMEL.

DR Jane - You asked if I make fruitcake recently. No I cant cook cakes at all.

Do you eat one every Christmas?  My mother even made her own marzipan topping.

On top of the marzipan was the hard frosting that she then topped with Christmas decorations, which I do have.

I try to avoid fruitcake at all costs (unless I know them).  My aunt used to give my mom a fruitcake from this famous company in Texas.  My mom was the only one in the house who would eat it, so it would usually last her most of the year.

I believe it was the government that was trying to debit the account.  In this case it was only three withdrawels, each for one hundred million.  Just because you don't have the money in your account, doesn't mean you don't owe the money.  In this case of course, it is an error.

This sounds SO good! :D
