Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the titmouse, and now it is time for you to post until the tufted cows come home - they're currently singing the score to The Sound of MOOsic.
-
And the word of the day is: MONGER!
-
FIRST POST!!
-
And yesterday's day of posts is not locked...as of this posting!
;)
-
They are now.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, DRs!
DR Cillaliz, I thoroughly enjoyed that ballad from Harmony - thank you for the link!
-
And from the sublime to the ridiculous, here's what happens when you suffer prolonged exposure to Musical Theater:

Good morning, all.
Need to catch up on yesterday's postings. Hope all is well with everyone.
-
Howdy, y'all!
-
Vixmom, you bring the bubbles and I'll have the scrambled eggs ready.
-
Good morning!
-
Optimistically hoping for warm weather I decided to make this a completely salad weekend Typically, the weather has turned out to be cold, wet and dull.
-
Had dinner last night at a place about two hours from town, out in the middle of nowhere. It was called The Laurel Tree and it was in Utopia, TX. Somewhat like Brigadoon, it is open only one night a week and it was magical. The chef has a huge farm on the property with a really gorgeous, manicured herb garden, and she used as much of the stuff as she could grow in her food. And the food was exceptionally good. I'll share only one image of the food. It's creme brulee topped with white chocolate-dipped cherries and ginger mint:

last night we watched a couple of oldies:
SNEAKERS w/Robert Redford, which holds up pretty well, and...
Monty Python's THE MEANING OF LIFE, which doesn't.

Hilarious! Also loved "Sing for Your Supper!" Thanks for the link yesterday!

I was so lucky while I was in London. The weather was mostly great!

Good morning, all! Last night I got hooked watching the Joseph Papp production of Much Ado About Nothing, which I hadn't seen since a PBS broadcast around 1975 or so. It's set in 1912 or thereabouts and directed much like a musical so it's reminiscent of The Music Man, and director A.J. Anton, keeping the turn-of-the-century Americana, has several silent film sequences, the Keystone Kops, and some funny business.
My friends April Shawnan and Barnard Hughes are both in it, and I really enjoyed seeing it again. Peter Link's ragtime score is quite wonderful, and the choreography by Donald Saddler and Helen Gallagher - waltzes, the Castle Walk, and the turkey trot - are as graceful as Theoni Aldredge's costumes.
I will shortly head down to Toyland to put the orchestra books together. I have no idea how long that will take;

Good morning, all.
Boy, did I sleep in this morning, or what? And it was beautiful. I needed it. Thank you, cats. Thank you.

Very funny link DR SINGDAW.
Nobody lives forever DR BEN.....not even Slim Whitman....

Tonight is the season finale of MAD MEN!!!!

After posting last night, I turned my "second wind" to ketchuping on the latest episode of MAGIC CITY which I have been shamelessly enjoying. It's a show I only got to know a couple of weeks ago, and I watched all eight episodes of season one in one 24-hour period, which was bliss. (I love making an all-day movie out of a great series.) South Florida-in-1959/60 goings on are irresistible to the likes of moi and I shall happily suffer any little misgivings about the show here and there, while happily taking in the rest.

The actor in that video reminds me a little of a young Roger Bart! Very funny.
-
Younger? Lyon, I'm 26!
-
After that I came back to the board for a moment, but exhaustion had finally caught up with me and I didn't even have the strength to say a proper good night. Hell, I didn't even say an improper one. Sleep was next, and it was a damned fine one.
-
Thanks for the reminder about MAD MEN, DR JRand62. Since our Sunday show is at night, I'll have to catch it on a late-night repeat, or tomorrow (on) On Demand.
-
DR Elmore, that MUCH ADO production sounds wonderful!
-
OMG, there are so many MUCH ADOs (not to be confused with all of the ADOs ANNIEs) out there. I'm putting this one into my cart as we speak.
-
And I will absolutely have to get that SAFETY LAST.
-
You people already have me bleeding money, and I'm only on my first cup of coffee.
-
TWO!
-
Poster art and cover art - and its effects on us - is such a fascinating thing. And to think that for the most part, it's an art that's all but lost in this day of thumbnail image marketing with its brain-numbing blandness and sameness.
-
I wonder how many wonderful recordings and movies I've shunned over the decades, all due to how they've been presented in terms of cover art.
-
I'm awake. Off to work.
-
SAFETY LAST is the movie that the ladies attend in the DANDELION WINE story ".....I think.....
"Behind her in the living room, someone cleared his throat."
Just looked it up, nope it was a Charlie Chaplin.....
-
I did not know WINGS had been turned into a musical. I love the play.
-
I don't think I've listened to the cast album of Wings since it was released. I'll have to give it another whirl! Thanks, DR George.

I'm awake. Off to work.
DR Matthew, was Paula Leggett Chase in that production of Boeing Boeing you saw? I know she's in a production somewhere. She's the wife of my friend, conductor David Chase.
-
And greetings from Toyland!
-
Well, I had best get to work -- I musts and needs mow the
weeds lawn before the real heat of the day takes over, since we now stand the chance of getting a passing thunderstorm or some such every freakin' day this week. And then it will finally be time to fire up the air-conditioning. Too bad. Last night was beautiful, Super Moon and all, and such a nice temperature all night.
-
WINGS - Not to be confused with Paul McCartney and Wings.
-
And the word of the day is: MONGER!
And The Song Of The Day Is: WHEELERS AND DEALERS
-
Love the score for Wings, but I don't listen to it often. Will have to rectify that. If I can get Giant out of the player.
-
I'm up and have been up since eight damn thirty. Irritating morning so far, but have dealt with it as best I can - I just wish people would behave professionally and do their damn job.
-
That will happen along with the famous ice water delivery, MR BK.
-
It doesn't look like you got more than a couple of hairs cut, DR John G.
-
Boy, am I a sweating mess from lawn mowing and spraying some nasty brush with Ortho Poison Ivy and Tough Brush Killer or whatever it's called. But I love this brand, because they've got something that's totally new to me: a built-in battery-operated pump! Hell, I'll replace batteries as often as it takes in trade for not priming a pump every couple of damned minutes.
-
While I was outside getting disgusting, the a/c was busy cooling the house down. Boy, was that ever the right thing to do. The humidity is a bit nasty now, and will probably remain so all week.
-
Good morning, DRs!
DR Cillaliz, I thoroughly enjoyed that ballad from Harmony - thank you for the link!
Glad to share it. I had never heard it before and really liked it
-
ME TV is showing The Mothers-in-Law. Haven't seen it in years.
-
good afternoon to all.
-
hope your day is coming along
-
I think I prefer A Mouse with Boobs as the title of my next book.
-
Hello Everyone:
Beautiful day here in West Seneca, NY!
-
I know it will make me nervous, but I plan to Watch Nick Wallenda cross over the Grand Canyon.
-
I will be praying for him to make it safely over.
-
Kate, if you write your review and send it to your brother, he'll post it.
-
Back from a three-mile jog.
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! We are back from Lima, where my blueberry pie was a big hit. Now we're waiting for a visit from Rob and Mary Linda, who will stop here on their way home from a gathering in Dayton. Looking forward to seeing them!
-
Enjoyed the birthday party pic too, DR CILLA LIZ!

Grand Canyon walk live tonight at 8 pm. EST on the Discovery Channel.

Slim Whitman Died (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slim_Whitman)
The announcement of his death came out just before the word that James Gandolfini had died. I felt bad that his death was almost ignored.

Just back from a trip to Best Buy, looking at laptops, tablets, and other devices. The DH would like to get something for his upcoming round of traveling/summer conferences.
Does any DR have any experience with a Microsoft Surface tablet?
-
I'm awake. Off to work.
DR Matthew, was Paula Leggett Chase in that production of Boeing Boeing you saw? I know she's in a production somewhere. She's the wife of my friend, conductor David Chase.
No, it was a community theatre production. A very good one at that :)
-
It's been a long day here at Toyland, and it's time to head home. I'll catch up when I get there.

I'm discovering all kinds of things with my new iPad, such as Dropbox which I'd never come across before and is brilliant - making it so easy to send documents between the iPad and my pc.
-
DR George you had an interesting yesterday.
-
took an unepxted nap
-
busy day
-
lots of church stuff
-
won't bore you with the details but I got there at 8 and left at 1
-
then took my folks car shopping
-
then came home to eat something ( had leftover steak and beans from Friday nights fantastic meal) and then instead of doing house work sat down here to ketchup and instead magically fell asleep wakened only by the Vixter coming in from her job at the steak house
-
so the day is gone I have accomplished naught
-
I am home and caught up on the posts.
My day at Toyland went well, but it was a long day. Several violin parts needed to be refolded or reassembled so all page turns didn't occuir at the same time. Tomorrow, I will check each orchestra part for missing pages and correct pagination and bind each part as a separate bundle. I'll stop at a Fed Ex office on my way and pick up a couple of cartons.
I also had a bad misunderstanding with one of our Dublin producers today that added a bit of stress to the afternoon. I did my best to straighten the mess out, and I probably won't know until tomorrow if all is good.
I spoke to Kim Criswell, who's in Manhattan this week. I love her.

I'll share only one image of the food. It's creme brulee topped with white chocolate-dipped cherries and ginger mint:

Isn't sleep wonderful :) I had a fairly decent night which I hope to repeat tonight.

What happened to vanilla ice cream? I would be fine with it plain.

From DR TCB:
BK, I just checked something that I should have thought of before. Our avatar pictures are visible to any and all guests who visit this site. On the previous board, only members could see our pictures. Is it too late to change that?
I seem to recall attached photos were only viable to members. Are those also no longer private?

Repair Worked vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
It has been taking so long for my posts to actually post that I feared they would time out.
-
That was better.
-
It was a good thing we needed to make a phone call this morning or we wouldn't know that our phone isn't working. I called our neighbor and was disappointed she answered her phone as that means the problem is located here & not the usual general phone repair.
I then called Century Link & spoke to a woman who makes Lily Tomlin's phone operator voice sound good. Seriously, it was painful to listen to this voice...so bad that I insisted Keith come hear her. He had to go to me since there are few places in the house that my cell phone works.
-
Between 9:30 & 1:30 the phone repairman will be out tomorrow, but if he isn't he has until 6:00 to arrive. ???
I asked the horrid sounding woman if that meant I have to stay home all day tomorrow and she said "no" and proceeded to explain something about a window which didn't make any sense. I explained I didn't understand the difference between the appointment time and waiting all day if the repairman didn't arrive until 6:00. Three times she explained about the window which I never understood. By the time I got off the phone with her I was in great pain from listening to her voice. Keith also agreed it was painful ;D
When Century link called to confirm the appointment between 9:30 & 1:30 they said "yes" to our possibly having to wait all day for the service call. They will call an hour before coming. I hope if our cell doesn't work they will still show.
-
We had lots of wind and HEAVY rain for about an hour....but now the sun is shining.
-
I have my first two page monolog for THE DROWSY CHAPERONE in my head.....now I have to go back and make it word for word....and not leave anything out!

Break a leg, DR JRand62! I would love to play that role.
And Sheridan Whiteside.
-
Is this a real place or just a cute sign?
DR Jane - I do not know for sure, but my suspicion is that this is not a real place. :)
-
Good for you, DR Jrand62! I find that as I get older, it is harder and harder for me to memorize. It used to be so easy! :P
-
Heavens yes, I forgot to comment on how lucious it was, hearing/seeing about DR John G.'s magnificent repast from last evening!!
-

Not going to watch. I bet it's a few minutes time delayed....just in case

DR Jane - I do not know for sure, but my suspicion is that this is not a real place. :)
Thanks.
-
I love everyone's confidence in me!!
DR ELMORE - I think THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER might be on the schedule for next summer. And why don't I suggest you for my understudy for this show?
-
Good evening.
-
Good evening DR Laura.
-
Yes I think there is a ten second time delay DR CILLA LIZ. I am watching it right now, but will switch over at ten to see MAD MEN.
-
In spite of our losing part of the morning to deal with the phone it has been a nice day. We had exceptionally delicious blueberry pancakes followed by a nice walk. It has been beautiful out with only sprinkles on and off so I have made multiple trips to enjoy the garden.
Highlight of the day was watching the fish in the pond. Keith has begun feeding them fish food that is better for them than what they naturally eat in the pond. It must be a real treat for them by the numbers that surface to eat the food. Finally we get to see them.
-
This morning we watched a male Oregon Junco collect leaves for a nest and fly into a little bush to build it. The female was nearby watching him.
We watched the Red Tail Hawks fly above us.
-
DR Jennifer I've been browsing "recommended" reading from Goodreads and apparently I have an interest in Chick Lit. I had no idea. :D
-
While searching suggested books to read on Goodreads I found the following comment in a group:
"Here are some books we think you'll like based on the books you've added to this shelf."
The shelf referred to are books I could not finish. Why would I want to read similar books to those.;D
-
I did add a few books of interest based on books I have read. I wish there was a grouping based on books I have given 4 or 5 stars to.
-

-
Congratulation JRand on your man in the chair role--- MEMORIZATION VIBES
I have always thought that Ben's Beloved would be a natural for that role
-
Thanks DR VIXMOM.....I like your LIFE SIZED PICTURE!!!
-
Yes he made it across..... If you are planning on watching the rebroadcast, take a Dramamine....the camerawork made me a little queasy.
Ended just in time to watch MAD MEN - which perfectly set up the FINAL SEASON next year....but otherwise it was more of the same.....
-
Great photo, Vixmom.
-
I'm not really an actor, but teachers are sometimes considered actors... anyway... If I was, I would LOVE to play Man in Chair. Congrats DR JRand!
-
Went to see Monsters U with a group of people today, because one couple's son had worked on the movie. He worked on Brave last year for Pixar, too. Movie wasn't great, but it was a lot of fun and it was wonderful to be able to cheer when Chris' name appeared on the screen during the credits. The group of 30 or so just broke out into applause.
They then had us out to their house for a party with bacon burgers (ground bacon only, none of that beef stuff) and we watched the sooper moon rise in the sky while sitting around and talking. Just a nice day.
-

-
Homemade vanilla ice cream on the side, please. (Thanks for DR Jane for reminding me of that little detail.)
-
Well, it was a classic HUMID night at the show tonight. But that's it till next Thursday. Came home, turned the a/c back on to re-chill the house, showered off the two pounds of Deep Woods Off off, and I'm ready to relax over something. Anything that goes with a little bourbon over ice will be fine.
-
Watching the end of a slight William Powell-Myrna Loy comedy called "Double Wedding." Even without a great script, they're just a hoot and a half.
-
Oh! Almost forgot to say -- I had the afternoon free today and decided it was indeed a perfect time to ketchup on a film, so I watched HARD TIMES. Fantastic film! I've got a couple of friends who happen to be Bronson fans but who've never seen this one, and I look forward to showing it to them soon.

So, I think me work here is done.
G'night!

Five pages?

Must be a Sunday or something.
-
Good evening, George!
Hi, Tom!
-
Well, I imagine it is going to take George a while to ketchup.
Yes, it did.
-
I attended the club act, ate, then came home and watched the season finale of Mad Men - some interesting turns of events but nothing earth-shattering - but it will be interesting to see how far they jump ahead in time for the new season.
-
So, I think me work here is done.
G'night!
Good night, Tom! I guess I was too late. :-\

Well, at long last page six. The notes are VERY long - I began writing them in the afternoon - I think they will be very interesting to some people and there are a LOT of photographs in them - it's rather a visual essay.

Correct...and the vinyl album that's linked from the listing of the CD (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000003FZ2) on Amazon is not the vinyl album of the cast recording. Very weird.

I Love Kim Criswell!! ;D

I am listening to something so unbelievable that it's unbelievable. About a year ago I was given the tracks for a very famous motion picture - but they were in horrible condition and while I thought that maybe three or four of them might be salvaged I didn't see any way one could make any kind of release out of it, even coupled with other stuff. But in the intervening year, we've come to work with an audio restoration expert named Chris Malone. Since he's like a miracle worker and has done amazing work on problematic stuff, not only saving it, but making it sound great, I just sent him all the tracks and asked him to see what he could do. Two weeks ago he sent me a test version of the main title and I could not believe my ears - it was amazing. I told him to continue. And I've now heard about eight other tracks and it sounds so good I just am hornswoggled. So, what we thought was completely lost is now found - not complete, but much of the score has been saved and we can now release. We have about sixty minutes with alternates, but about eight of those minutes are tracks with some sound effects in them, and I will not use those even as bonus material. But people are going to be VERY happy - it's one of the great movies and one of the greatest movie themes ever written - and we'll pair it with some other stuff by the same composer, stuff that's just been found recently. Color me excited.

DR George you had an interesting yesterday.
And, actually, today, too! This afternoon, I ushered for a local dance studio and during the second act when I stayed out in the lobby reading the Nook that I checked out of the library (it's due this week), this person came up to me and said, "George??" I looked up and it was my friend Gary (now totally gray-haired...he used to have jet black hair)! We had done some shows together back in the early 1990s and I hadn't seen him since then...almost 20 years!! Talk about amazing! It's so cool...on Wednesday, I see a friend that I hadn't seen in about 10 years and today, I see a friend that I hadn't seen in almost 20 years!

What was really serendipitous was that I was thinking about leaving right after intermission, since I took tickets and really wouldn't be needed after that, but I decided to stay, just in case I was needed. I'm so glad that I did! He was up from Portland, where he's been living for the last few years, because his sister and niece were performing in the show. His mother also lives in Olympia. We hugged and chatted for a while and caught up and exchanged phone numbers. I had actually searched the Internet a few times for him, but never could find anything. I actually wondered if he had died. :-\

It turns out that I did find a picture on Facebook last year, but it really didn't look like him at all, but it really was! When I had gone to his Facebook page from the picture when I found it last year, there were no pictures on the page, so I just assumed that it wasn't him, because the one really didn't look like him. But when I looked today (he's actually a Facebook friend of a Facebook friend of a Facebook friend), there were more pictures AND ones that I could recognize. So, I've friended him and we're going to meet up the next time he's in town, since he comes up here every once in a while because his mom, sister and niece live here!
Pretty darned cool, huh?? :D

The theme, certainly, but that's it.
