Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Kritzerland at Sterling's 35, and now it is time for you to post until the 35 cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EPHEBIC!
-
So glad that the show went so well. Congratulations to all! :-*
-
And now, if you haven't had any coffee, THIS should wake you up!

Thank you for the help yesterday.
Will try to start over tonight on the pic thing.

Mega vibes everyone.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning, all.
Congratulations on the good show, BK. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Good morning, all! I have my lab tests this morning at 11:30, so I can have no food, only water. I decided to sleep in because I'm dying for some coffee and starving. As son as the tests are over, I'm running to a deli.
Good news about last night's show1
I have nothing else to report.
-
Vibes for good test results, Elmore.

TOD: I'm an advocate for people wearing whatever they like in most cases, but I think that the theater/symphony and a few restaurants should be no shorts, no flip-flops, etc. I don't really have a problem with drinks in the theater, but I remember sitting in a movie theater and wanting to throttle someone across the room who chomped on each piece of popcorn as if there were a microphone in his or her mouth. It was that loud. Oh, yeah, and the movie was "The Quiet American."
-
Are they really allowing you to bring food and drink into a legitimate theater now?
Wow! :o
Frankly, I refuse to see a movie in places like the Alamo Drafthouse because they serve meals while you are watching the film.
:P
-
Shorts, t-shirts and flip flops should not be allowed in a legitimate theater.
-
Good morning, all.
This is Monday. Right? Starting with the 4th, my days have been completely off. Hell, for all I know they've been taking advantage of my confusion and sneaking in extra days on me.
-
VIBES for EXCELLENT LABS for DR ELMORE!
And for EXCELLENT FOOD AND DRINK following!
-
I sat through WHITE CHRISTMAS on Broadway listening to the high school kids behind me in $125 seats clicking the ice cuves in their cups and watching the couple in front of me making out s though they were in a drive in movie. What the fat hell is behavior?
DR JohnG, I have no memory now of that recording or why I'm thanked. I believe that only two recordings were made. Incidentally, I find their coyly posed publicity photos a bit over the top for my taste.
-
Next killer act at Sterling's: Shirley Jones, Monique Vermont, and little Ronny Howard.
-
TOD: I have been driven out of movie theatres because of people bringing their living-room/TV manners there. This has not quite happened in the theatre yet. But there are a few disturbing trends that I see occurring there. I've yet to see people hawking snacks in the aisle yet, but I'm always a bit edgy when someone is threading through a precarious aisle behind me holding a glass of red wine, wondering when that glass is going to slosh that stainable beverage on my sports coat. The fact that most of Broadway has become tourist trap musicals or disguised rock concerts, I could see why they might have started selling crap in the aisle.
Though I have often relaxed my own dress standards somewhat in recent years when going to the theatre, I still insist on at least nice slacks, shoes, and shirt...usually still a sports coat, even if no tie. I just like to think there are still some occasions special enough to dress up for. When I've seen people show up at funeral visitations in T-shirts and shorts, this casual dress in the theatre does not surprise me.
Food and drink in the theatre I could live without, but something like bottled water (with a cap) doesn't bother me too much.
Much more disturbing to me than dress and food issues are electronic gizmo issues and ignorance. I hate people who can't turn their bloody phones off for a few hours and are constantly checking them right up to curtain, flicking them on at intermission, and, of course, worse is seeing the those little square patches of light during a performances and in some cases recording the show with them. I'm a defender of any actor who stops a show to rail at this rudeness to performers and audience to castigate these offenders with the appropriate humiliation and shame they deserve. We have the technology to block phone signals and should use them in theatres, movie houses, restaurants, and churches. How someone can pay a $100 bucks or so for a ticket to something and not give it their undivided attention is beyond me.
I also hate the phenomenon of the utterly undeserved standing ovation. Pure audience ignorance. They think if the performers just show up, they deserve a standing ovation. Nor am I fond of the audience applauding every bloody blackout. It's like applauding the end of a movement of a symphony. Wait till the intermission or the end of the play and don't interrupt the narrative flow. Yes, there are those moments where a performer has done such a great turn, he deserves exit applause, but...like a standing ovation...they are few and far between. Of course, part of the problems of blackout applause is often bad directing, where a director is unable to keep his play moving...particularly in classics like Shakespeare where, rather than have one scene starting even as one is exiting, they have a blackout or a lull, giving the audience a chance to fill that empty moment with unnecessary applause (and thereby adding time to what is probably an already long show).
I know nothing about New York audiences, but I have generally found British audiences better behaved, more knowledgeable, and attentive than American audiences. The rudest audience members I seen in Britain are usually foreigners, mostly Americans...though there are several Europeans who could bathe before they come to the theatre.
-
Monday morning greetings! Later this afternoon I will receive the Middletown AAUW president's notebook, which I guess makes it more than official...
-
Good Morning All:
BK you are absolutely 100% right on!
When one attends the theatre they should dress respectfully.
I love to dress up!
Also, how crass to be allowed to snack, while at a performance.
I think water is OK if drank discretely. Some people need to have that. But otherwise, eat and drink in the lobby during intermission.
-
Summer cold! Yikes! Sore throat and sneezing for the first day of summer camp. Really, world?
-
What a weekend!
I was very busy with family get to-gethers.
It was awesome watching my nephew Patrick on American Ninja Warrior! Personally I thought he looked the best!
A once in a lifetime experience!
-
Yesterday I began to read BK's book, There's Mel, There's Woody, and There's You.
So far I find it funny, refreshing and very interesting.
I always wanted to know the process of auditioning for parts.
As you know, I am a "Wanna Be Actress".
But at this point in my life we may be too late!
-
Also DR Bk I listened to your rendition of Que Sera Sera on Kevin's laptop.
I thought your voice was very pleasing to the ear.
Unfortunately my computer is outdated and I can't get it on mine.
It is definitely time for a new one. I would like a laptop. My hubby is leaning towards a desktop.
I need some opinions on this everyone!
-
BK: I'm against the trend toward food/drink in a legitimate theater. People are perfectly able to dine and drink "before" or "after" a performance. Of course, in the theaters where this is happening, I'm thinking there's a motivation for the theater to make more money...the kind that movie theaters make. If the patrons don't protest, I don't see it being curtailed/banished.
Pogue: I think the problem with home-in-font-of-the-TV behavior in a theater has more to do with not having any idea "how" they should behave. At concerts, it's de rigeur to applaud after every song (or at a break), so I think that mindset carries over into the non-musical theater. I agree that standing O's should be earned and not thrown away like rice at the end of a wedding.
I don't know how many people remember when going to church meant putting on your very best clothing...in fact, having "for best" for that principal reason. I know some areas still have that, but I was more than taken aback many years ago when I went into my favorite Episcopal Church and discovered that not only had they discarded the use of the Book of Prayer, but some men attended in jeans and T-shirts and some women were in house dresses or shorts.
I think that indicates a lack of respect...for God and for self.
Perhaps they would not have come had it not been for that freedom. The churches want parishioners and tithes, so maybe they don't believe it's going too far to encourage casual backyard attire. I, however, think they should stay home rather than offend their surroundings. But let's not get into that here.
I think one should dress nicely to go to a theater and one should be on his or her best behavior. I have long ceased going to movie theaters where popcorn, ice, the tearing of wrappers off candy and the occasional ringing of cell phone broke the spell of the movie I was watching and caused me to say, very loudly, very rude things to the offending parties.
-
DR Kate - there are advantage and disadvantages to each, obviously.
My opinion is that you can have the best of both: get a high end laptop, but also buy a docking station. That way, you have the portability, but when you are at home, you have it hooked up to a full-sized keyboard, speakers, a mouse, and as large a monitor as you wish.
-
I was looking at new ceiling fans. What you think of this sleek model?

TOD - ditto to all of what has been said so far. I was stunned at my recent library conference at how sloppily some "professionals" were dressed. Granted, I have relaxed a lot since the days of skirted suits, bow-tie blouses, hose, and heels, but what passes now for business casual is what I'd wear for a day of house cleaning or yard work (not that I do much of either of those...). I didn't look in on the job placement center, but I certainly hope people were dressing up a bit for interviews.

DR Kate, once I got a tablet my laptop became my desktop...

Some interviews were being conducted in a conference room next to my cubicle a few weeks ago. Guys who probably wore suits only to church or weddings or funerals were wearing them to their interview. Except for one guy who came in jeans and a polo shirt. I really wanted to ask whether the guy's qualifications overcame the negative impact of his attire, but we're County and such questions cannot be answered by anyone involved.
-
DR Ron Pulliam - I hope you made funny faces at the interviewees through the glass. You know, to encourage them.
-
I think dressing up is something that shows respect for the place you are going.....and that includes churches, funeral homes, theaters, and weddings.
I always wear a suit or jacket & tie to all of the above. I am in agreement with others who have already written - I am always a bit shocked to see shorts, jeans, t-shirts, flip flops, etc. at EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THE PLACES I have mentioned.
I also hate eating/drinking in the live theatre! Of course we serve popcorn and drinks at PCPH, but the barn atmosphere is a bit more informal than the usual theater.....but we still get our share of people who dress up.....
-
And just for your information:
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PAIR OF DRESS JEANS.

Thank you DR's Vixmom, TCB.
DR John G thanks. He said his jaw isn't bad and his outlook seems fine.

I can't believe it's Monday.
I can't believe it's Monday.
I imagine DR Kerry would have a thing or two to say about that.

DR Singdaw:
Thanks for the input.
Also LOL on the Jean Dress!!
I used to have a Jean Pant Suit a long time ago when I was a young girl!
-
Good morning, everyone!
Kritzerland was great fun last night. It's always a bit nerve-wracking stepping in late, so I did drive myself a little wacky with drilling lyrics, but it paid off. Got them right, thank you. I always want to do my best for BK. And there was some great singing by so many last night.
TOD: Bravo to the comments already posted.
I too, am exasperated by some behavior in the theaters these days. The flip-flops and shorts thing has got to go. What's next? Hairy shirtless men? Ewwww. If you're gonna dress like that, go see Hamlet at the Beach... at the beach. (maybe I should write that one).
And I so agree, that the cellphone thing is the real bugaboo now. I can deal with people checking them up to curtain time, but the texting, and tweeting and filming during the show. No, sir! I just want one of those superhero buttons that will kill their power for the next couple of hours.
I will have to sort through my pile 'o saved clippings (yes, actual paper). I had saved an article from the NY Times about behavior at the theater years ago, and I may still have it. Among the things mentioned as no no's in the theater was one I encounter now and then - that some perfumes and colognes can be louder than the overture, and if you are stuck next to someone who has bathed themselves in one of those hyper-scents, you are being asphyxiated while trying to enjoy the play you paid to enjoy. Not funny.
It also recounted the Katherine Hepburn quote, from her performance of "West Side Waltz", when she broke the fourth wall for a moment to chide an audience member, reminding him that his Reebocks were not in the original set design, and to get them the hell off the stage.
But among the stories in this article, was one that happened at the Vivian Beaumont in Lincoln Center during a run of a Terrance McNally play (possibly "The Lisbon Traviata"). Never mind that, when a character onstage asked another character onstage, while doing a crossword, "What is a 5 letter word for…?", and an audience member shouted out a possible answer. What is this, "Let's Make a Deal"?
But the main part of the article told this tale: It seems a woman bought two tickets to see a matinee of said play; one for herself, and one for her trained pet chimpanzee. Yep. The article went on to say that, throughout the entire first Act, the woman kept turning to the chimp, to repeat everything that was being said onstage, which of course, enraged the folks around her. At the Act break, she was asked by the management to take her pet and leave.
The writer of the article then noted that it was a shame the chimp had to go, because he had behaved impeccably.
If I find this article, I will type it out and share it. It's quite fun and brilliantly penned.
It is sad that the respect factor in the theater has been so diluted by home "theaters" and reality shows (making stars of do-nothings). What to do, what to do..?
-
Getting back to the Dress Jeans, I disagree. I do think some jeans can be considered somewhat dressy.
-
DR Singdaw, I have been meaning to tell you I love your quote about polyester.
-
Oy! Ever since the guys controlling Facebook's "Forgotten Musicals" opened it to anyone, the halt, lame, maimed, and moronic have taken over.
-
DR Ryacko:
I'm so glad you did well in BK'S production last night.
I think you are quite handsome!
-
Getting back to the Dress Jeans, I disagree. I do think some jeans can be considered somewhat dressy.
Finally someone else around here who agrees with me :)
-
Thanks DR Ginny for the input.
We'll have to think about the computer selection for a while!
-
DR Ryacko I enjoyed your long post very much, especially the funny story about the well behaved chimp.
-
Congratulations of the success on the show last night.
-
Yes Jane, I agree with you.
I have had some really nice dark denium jeans that were dressy.
-
Yes, DR Ryacko, I enjoyed your stories also!
-
It is quite nice today in West Seneca, NY!
-
Today, I am doing laundry watching TV, (Andy Griffith, One of my Fav's), maybe some nice movies).
Also I will be reading BK"s book. I am really enjoying it!
-
DR Ryacko:

I think you are quite handsome!
Thank you so much, DR Kate, on both counts. :)
-
DR Ryacko I enjoyed your long post very much, especially the funny story about the well behaved chimp.
I know, it's the chimp story that stays in my memory. I do hope I can find the entire article to share.
-
DR BK, While reading your book I noticied that I have 2 things in common with your ex wife.
We both have the Same name (I'm also known as Cathy) , except hers is with a K. and we both owned Volkswagon Beetles. Mine was a real lemon.
-
I'm up, I'm up.
-
Reading BK's book is like a breath of fresh air. It feels so real like he is right in front of me conversing!
I like that style of writing!
-
Love the comments about the theater today - you, like me, would be accused of being church ladies by Mr. RyHog, the jerk on All That Chat who comes after me all the time and subverts my words to his own ends so he can pretend I have attitudes I don't have, but on hawking things in the aisles, sorry, if that makes me a church lady to think it turns theater into a circus or baseball game (what's next, "Get your red hots, get your peanuts") so be it. He also tried to twist what I was saying by pointing out that "baseball is an elegant game." I shot back, what does the GAME have to do with anything? Who's talking about the GAME - I'm talking about the spectators. He ignores that and just continues on his dirty path. This guy, as I said, has been doing this for years and I shouldn't even respond to him - others are on to it, fortunately.
-
Thank you, DR Ryako, for making the effort to learn your lyrics. Sounds like a simple thing to do, yet I've seen a Petra screw up "The Miller's Son" in "A Little Night Music" and an Amy lose her play in a particularly emotional moment of "Most Happy Fella." It's not just women, though those are the two that come to mind first. But it is part of the job.
-
You are most welcome Ryacko. Have you sang or acted in any movies or TV Shows?
-
DR BK, What is "All that Chat"?
-
All That Chat is one of those hideous Broadway message boards I should just stay away from - and, in fact, this is probably the thing that will cause me to not return there.
-
I'll put this in tomorrow's notes, but here's Jenna singing Where Is Love from last night's show.
http://youtu.be/6wvL1wp_WMc
-
DR BK, When I listened to your version of "Que Sera, Sera, it remined me of the Movie "The Man Who Knew Too Much"
I love this movie. and of course my favorite male actor Jimmy Stewart.
-
DR BK, Thanks for explaining.
-
DR BK, If you ever come to The Buffalo Area, I would love to meet you!
-

You are so right, DR John G. It is part of the job. And if you say yes to the gig, you must do the work.
-
I too, am exasperated by some behavior in the theaters these days. The flip-flops and shorts thing has got to go. What's next? Hairy shirtless men? Ewwww.
actually...that would get me to go to the theatre more often....just sayin.
-
I just listened to Jenna Lea Rosen on You Tube singing" Where Is Love."
She has a beautiful voice. She should be on Broadway!
-
DR M Barnum: LOL!
-
My Brother Kevin should be home by now.
We had a great time during his stay at Kate and Jerry's Bed and Breakfast !!
-
You are most welcome Ryacko. Have you sang or acted in any movies or TV Shows?
Actually, I sang in two TV shows in the early 90's, but in both, I was nearly, if not completely, unrecognizable.
One was an episode of "Nurses" (the Golden Girls spinoff), in which I delivered a singing telegram dressed as a gorilla in a tuxedo, carrying a fruit basket. I had to sing the chorus of the Booby Sherman hit, "julie, Julie, Julie, do you love me?" to Julie, the nurse.
The other singing appearance was a very silly and funny episode of Chris Elliot's "Get a Life". It was a send up of Lloyd Weber musicals, in which Chris lands the lead in the "new Andrew Todd Keller masterpiece 'Zoo Animals on Wheels'", at the local community theater.
I was the giraffe, in a gold unitard, on roller skates, with a huge giraffe head. There was a hole in the giraffe neck for my face, and they painted my face to match the giraffe spots.
Oh, the things we do for our art. Dignity, always dignity. :D
-
TOD:
I don't often give too much thought to how others dress at live theatre. I always try to dress nice. Slacks and a button up shirt and maybe a jacket. I have been known to wear a tie, but not in the last several years.
I have seeen guys in dressy looking shorts and nice sandals, and that seemed fine to me. And guys in jeans with a nice shirt and jacket also look ok, in my opinion. A lot depends on the theatre, I guess. I can't recall seeing anyone ever dress too casual, like in sweat pants or such, even at local theatre.
Food and drink (other than bottled water) seems out of place at live theatre. If you have a medical condition that requires you keep some food stuffs on hand, and you can consume it discreetly, that would be ok.
-
That's a lovelier than lovely "Where is Love".
-
I can't even watch the damn video or anything on You Tube anymore - Safari has completely screwed itself up. I've tried other browsers and not had much luck. It's better on my iPad, which is weird.
-
BK, I'm also having difficulty on Safari. YouTube keeps wanting me to change my name or something. I'll try on my iPad.
-
YouTube keeps wanting me to change my name or something.
Did you tell YouTube that you're already married?
-
Jenna Lea's rendition of "Where Is Love?" was really lovely. However, even though I tried listening very closely, I'm afraid I couldn't detect the difference in mode or tone in the accompaniment going into the second verse (as per the notes). Still lovely!

Very nice!
-
Well I will have to agree to disagree with a couple of readers about "dress" jeans. Yes there are NICE jeans, and sometimes to a casual event I wear jeans and a sport jacket.....but I don't consider myself dressed up when I do. And I would never consider wearing jeans to a funeral service or wedding or a graduation for that matter.
-
My Brother Kevin should be home by now.
We had a great time during his stay at Kate and Jerry's Bed and Breakfast !!
Yes, I'm home. Thank you for your hospitality!
-
PAGE 4!!
-
Congrats on the success of last night's show, BK ! And DR Ryacko!
-
DR ELMORE is correct the Forgotten Musicals Page on Facebook has gone off the rails......
-
In London's West End theatres, they sell ice cream at the front of the aisles at the "interval." Ice cream eating doesn't seem to make much noise, though!
-
Thanks to DR Ryacko for another insider's look at the show last night.
-
When I went to see a play in London, they rolled out a tea cart during the interval.....up and down the aisle kind of like on an airplane.
-
Are they really allowing you to bring food and drink into a legitimate theater now?
Wow! :o
Frankly, I refuse to see a movie in places like the Alamo Drafthouse because they serve meals while you are watching the film.
:P
When I saw "Beauty and the Beast" on Broadway in 1995, they allowed food in the theater. I thought that it was a bad decision. They're teaching kids that live theater is the same as a movie theater...and it ain't!
The local performing arts space does allow bottled water into the theater, but only bottled water. Another theater does allow food and drinks (they don't serve alcohol), but their only foodstuffs are cookies and brownies...quite quiet food.
-
Shorts, t-shirts and flip flops should not be allowed in a legitimate theater.
As an actor/participant in community theater and a board member of a community theater group, we just want the butts in the seats, so other than no clothing at all, we don't care what our audiences wear, as long as they show up! ;)
-
We had a whole row of people who left one of our performances of YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN, because a young woman was breastfeeding her child in the second row during the show.....
-
Singdaw, the accompaniment thing wasn't for that song, it was for the opening number - I know her mom recorded it and if I get that one and post it, you'll hear it immediately.
-
Back from some bacon and eggs.
-
Newspaper photos tonight, and then a dress/full tech rehearsal of ANGEL STREET.
-
Got an e-mail from the co-producer of our shows - forwarding some comments from a friend of hers who's seen four of our shows - definitely male and while they think I'm dynamic and a fountain of information, they think my occasional Jew jokes are "stale" and "old", they found last night's running gag about the Armenian musicals of the 90s okay at the first mention but not after (I think they thought it might be offensive to Armenians), they're tired of my opening line that I have now done for all thirty-five shows about being elderly and having to read from the paper (never mind that it is always followed by something funny that's always different), and they didn't like my comment about the bad hair day and my lack thereof.
I responded, of course, that the day I start tailoring my patter to make a specific member of the audience happy is the day I stop doing these shows. Why she would even send me this I have no idea. The only thing that would make me rethink some humor is the lack of a laugh. It was funny, I felt negativity in that room last night - strongly - and my guess is that we could center that directly at the writer of this e-mail and his guest. I kind of hope they stop coming.
-
good afternoon to all
-
One of these days I will get to LA and see a Kritzerland show
-
Good morning, all! I have my lab tests this morning at 11:30, so I can have no food, only water. I decided to sleep in because I'm dying for some coffee and starving. As son as the tests are over, I'm running to a deli.
Hope everything went well with the tests, Larry!!

I agree there is such a thing as "dress" (or "dressy") jeans -- but only for rodeo, country western events, square dancing or hootenannies.
-
TOD
I hate the way people dress nowadays. They call it casual but mostly it looks scruffy. I enjoy the opportunity to wear a suit or jacket and tie. In fact I'm very much a tie person and don't feel properly dressed without one. Of course, I come from the days when we all put on our smartest clothes to go for a walk on Sunday. I've never owned a pair of jeans or a T-shirt.
-
Well I will have to agree to disagree with a couple of readers about "dress" jeans. Yes there are NICE jeans, and sometimes to a casual event I wear jeans and a sport jacket.....but I don't consider myself dressed up when I do. I do definitely agree, with regards to the wedding, graduation, and funeral part.
I have seen some frighteningly casual wear to weddings and funeral's. Barely a a half step up from sleepwear, in some cases.
-
BK, you can't please 'em all!
-
I'm definitely inviting DR Ron Pulliam to my next hootenanny.
-
Thanks for that link, DR John G. I wonder if the NY Phil will also release this new performance of Sweeney on CD?

I have installed Google Chrome again - I think I'll try it for a while. Although, I did find a suggestion that supposedly helps Safari load faster and we'll see if that works. Something went very screwy on the last Safari update - there are pages and pages about it.
-
Hard to know what to say about that email.
Oy? Ugh? Right back atcha? Don't go away mad, just go away?
-
Let's all go to page
5.
-
I may be nuts, but Google Chrome actually seems slower than Safari, and it is of no help whatsoever with You Tube.
-
Time to jog.

I have sent the owner of All That Chat a little e-mail missive - I have been on that discussion board from the day it began - and I have told them I won't be back because of both the idiot and our very own troublemaker who, of course, is right there with him. Who needs it when we have this beautiful site. There is nothing every posted there that is of any interest, really - just idiotic "reviews" and occasional threads that make my blood boil and require response. If I need to rant I'll do it right here where games are not played.
-
Thanks for that link, DR John G. I wonder if the NY Phil will also release this new performance of Sweeney on CD?
I would doubt it. The last recording was a numbered, limited edition and I understand it didn't sell well. Didn't sell 1,500 copies. But maybe PBS will broadcast it, like "Carousel," etc. They did a DVD of the Sweeney, but it wasn't New York Phil. I forgot the orchestra, but the worst substitution was another Elmore favorite, Miss Victoria Clark, appearing as the Beggar Woman in place of Audra McDonald.
-
And poor RyHog and dcb will just have to do without me - their poor lives won't be as full, but I'm sure both of these horrid little people will survive.
-
Sounds like all the problems with All That Chat, including FJL's as well as BK's, are signaling some sort of disintegration of that site.

Are you referring to the LuPone & Hearn SWEENEY conducted by Andrew Litton? I have that but don't see anything indicating a limited edition. I also don't remember having listened to it in all this time! :o

Elmore's favorite director (not!), Lonny Price, gets to try his hand at Sweeney Todd once more.
http://www.playbill.com/news/article/179883-Bryn-Terfel-Will-Star-in-New-York-Philharmonics-Sweeney-Todd-in-2014-Lonny-Price-Directs
Lonny Price will do fine by SWEENEY TODD; he's lousy with dead writers' works or those living whom he can walk over, like Tom Jones on 110 IN THE SHADE, and I gather that he, Audra, and Gemignani did a number on Jones& Schmidt!
Unless Sondheim dies, he won't do any damage to this piece. Lonny knows that Steve is meaner and smarter than he.
The blood was drawn, i peed, i came home. I'll know more on Thursday when I have my physical.

DR ChasSMith - the NY Phil recording was the one that was a limited edition.

DR ChasSMith - the NY Phil recording was the one that was a limited edition.
That's what this is. But mine isn't numbered or anything.
-
I just baked a delicious citrus sour cream cake. I know it is delicious from all the cake I ate that should have been the rose petals. Alas, the cake is not beautiful as it should be. At least it is yummy.
I've made this cake in the rose pan before and it slid right out and looked perfect. I don't know what went wrong this time.
-
The parts that went wrong should be sent immediately to the following address.....

I have that recording, too, but I didn't know that it was a limited edition.

Good morning, all.
This is Monday. Right? Starting with the 4th, my days have been completely off. Hell, for all I know they've been taking advantage of my confusion and sneaking in extra days on me.
Dang! He found us out!

RE: the TOD
I don't think that people should be allowed to bring food to their seats. I think bottled water is okay. But no food. You can eat food before, at intermission or after.
I also think that people should look nice. It doesn't have to be a suit or a dress. But it should not be shorts and flip flops.

Today was the first day of camp (for me anyway, my 11-14 year olds started last week without me) - so I decided to try and get to know them. Since they were already cast (we are doing Beauty and the Beast Jr) I asked them their name, what part(s) they are playing and what exciting thing they did over the weekend.
I think this is the best I've ever heard--
Question to my 11-14 years olds today: What did you do that was exciting over the weekend:
Kid: I watched "Mame" (kid smiles like he's very proud)
Me: The movie?
Kid: Yes
Me: I'm sorry
(kid continues to smile)

We are doing The Wedding Singer in the older group. What fun that show is. I'm looking forward to working on it with these immensely talented kids.
-
I just had a really interesting conversation with the guy who owns our hosting facility. He told me the traffic on this here site, both board and the notes is like no other site they host - he cannot believe how many visitors we get every day - he's setting something up so I will finally be able to see how many visits the notes get, but I think he's intimating that the ten million page views we get a year is very accurate in terms of visitors. Which is pretty astonishing when you think about it, and probably is better than All That Chat these days, where they frequently have nowhere near the number of posts we do. Oh, well - I'm sure ryhog and dcb will be very happy there, although it will be a little sad and lonely for them without me, I'm sure. All their fun taken away in one fell swoop.
-
Now, get me off this damn page. Meeting with the East Coast Singer won't probably happen until Wednesday now, but that's not for sure yet.
-
Hi Kevin,
Glad you made it home safely, talk to you soon!
-
Right On BK!! (Regarding All That Chat).
-
Oh, and in the comedy department, we got a wonderful review for last night's show and the reviewer specifically mentions (and positively) one of the Jew jokes - so phut to the stuffed shirt who had the problem - my Jew jokes aren't going away anytime soon.
-
Oh, here's the link: http://grigware.blogspot.com/
-
Yes, DR JR&62 I agree, definitely no jeans of any sort for Weddings and Funerals, (Very Disrespectful).

I also agree on this.
-
I love getting dressed up. It gives me a great reason to buy a new dress!
-
DR Ryako:
I can't imagine why anyone would have you dress up in a gorilla or giraff suit.
You are too handsome to be covered up!!
-
I am going to watch American Ninja Warrior again tonight at 9:00 PM. My nephew might be on again.
Again, it was so exciting watching him on National TV with his daughter, (My great Niece Sydney).
-
Goodbye for Now!

I just received the 1994 London cast revival of "The Card," featuring Haley Mills. The song that was performed last night, "I Could Be the One," was not on this recording. Evidently, it's been removed from the score. :(
-
'night
-
Getting back to the Dress Jeans, I disagree. I do think some jeans can be considered somewhat dressy.
Finally someone else around here who agrees with me :)
I think Jeans with a dress shirt and or a jacket are fine for going to the theater. Now dirty jeans, shorts flip flops, t-shirts with words on them etc are an entirely different story
-
Yes, DR JR&62 I agree, definitely no jeans of any sort for Weddings and Funerals, (Very Disrespectful).
I agree with that too
-
That's a great review.
Just a heads up, though ... I think "Good show, ole' boy!" might be code for "Good show, ole' Jew!"
-
You want the original cast recording of The Card with Jim Dale - the revival was hugely rewritten.
-
The blood was drawn, i peed.
Yeah, those needles scare me too

Oy! :)

I know. I do have a (ahem) downloaded copy of the original London cast recording, but I don't have the physical CD anymore. Another one of my stolen CDs. :(

I was looking at new ceiling fans. What you think of this sleek model?
You know, sing song, I bet it would match the rest of your décor.
-
Lovely review BK - and Congratulations to DR RYacko for his great review. Since the chance of me getting meself to Californy is far remote I am depending on BK bringing hos show to the Big Apple one of these days

I have the words Special Edition all over mine. and thought there was a number, but I am mistaken. I did read, though, that it didn't bring the NYPhil much money.
-
I am NOT a fan of food in the theatre - but I must admit to now regularly wearing jeans (usually black if it makes a difference and usually paired with a nice shirt) when I drive into the city for matinees - for an evening performance I do dress up a bit more.
And there was at least one time I showed up in shorts and sneakers --- but I wasn't INTENDING to go to the theater that day - a ticket just suddenly became available while I was in town

weddings and funerals definitely are dress/skirt and heels for me

I usually wear a dress but in the winter have been known to wear a pant suit

Oh, here's the link: http://grigware.blogspot.com/
Nice review.
-
Although that reminds me of a wedding we attended in Alberta -- we were surprised to see several close friends of the bride and groom in khakis and golf shirts at the church - after the wedding they said they were running home to change before the reception
They showed up in ragged jeans and Tshirts at the reception ..... ::) :P

Actually, now I think of it , I have attended winter wakes in dress pants

Apropos of nothing....
Total time logged in: 50 days, 46 minutes.
-
We had a whole row of people who left one of our performances of YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN, because a young woman was breastfeeding her child in the second row during the show.....
Was she "hangig out" or discretely covered?
-
I just "stole" this from a FB friend - it is so "spot on" (as Vixdad would say) I thought I would share it here :)
I lived ON Long Island not IN Long Island;
When I leave New York, I say I am from Long Island and everyone is expected to know where that is.
Mustard should never be considered as a burger condiment; I know what real pizza and coffee taste like;
I know that a bagel is more then just a roll with a hole in the middle and it's a hero, not a hoagie, or a sub, and I wash it all down with soda, not pop or cola.
4 am is an early night out and all good nights must end at a diner or half price apps at Applebees.
A beer can be known as a cold one and we can get it at all hours of the day and night.
Yeah, it sounds like I spell "walk," and "talk" with W's in them but you're the one that actually tawks weird (and pleeeze do not try to tell me that "dog" rhymes with "log").
I don't go down to the shore, it's called the BEACH and I have one 20 minutes away in every direction.
I know that 55mph really means 90 and a yellow light means floor it.
I go to The City, not Manhattan
"New Yorkers" who are not from The Island or from The City, are "upstate" and therefore not really from New York.
-
DR Ryako:
I can't imagine why anyone would have you dress up in a gorilla or giraff suit.
You are too handsome to be covered up!!
And you are too kind, DR Kate!
I have to say, I had fun on both of those shows.
-
Lovely review BK - and Congratulations to DR RYacko for his great review.
Thanks so much, DR vixmom! It was great fun.
-
There was a NY producer friend in the audience last night - we're going to have lunch and chat about NY.

BK, have you done a show with Malty and Shire songs in it? I realize that much of the best of their stuff was in two revues, but it's great stuff.
-
I am half way thru NBC's coverage of AMERICAN NINJA, and I have not seen Patrick, at least by name. I think they have edited last night's coverage quite a bit to add some more commercials. I should have figured out where the show was being broadcast last night. Sorry, Kevin. Sorry Kate.

I'll put this in tomorrow's notes, but here's Jenna singing Where Is Love from last night's show.
http://youtu.be/6wvL1wp_WMc
I already watched it on another web site (Facebook). She is awesome.
-
Good night, all.
-
We had a whole row of people who left one of our performances of YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN, because a young woman was breastfeeding her child in the second row during the show.....
I would gladly let everyone into the theater in shorts, if they would leave the infants and newborns at home.
-
We'll get around to Maltby and Shire, together and apart.
-
I made great strides with the busy work today and will be all done with it tomorrow. Then there's just two minor little busy work things after that. I actually would have been finished today but I was given misinformation and had to go back and redo twelve documents to reflect the incorrect information - what a pain.
-

Words to the wise: Criterion sale starts tomorrow. Start your engines.

I believe these are KRITZERLAND shows, so why doesn't this "friend" shove it.
-
Vixmom lives on Lawn Guyland in New Yawk.
That's NOO Yawk , youze guyz.
And it is soder, not soda.
-
Finished with my viewing and listening to what will hopefully be the next Kritzerland release, should we get approval this week.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
But I won't.
-
Are we even close to page eight?
-
Is page eight even close to us?
-
I think I must take a shower.
-
G'night!

What a day! Topped off with a farewell dinner for one of my cantor's at church who is off to study law. We'll miss her, but she'll just be down in LA, so I'll be able to see her still. Great singer and even better friend.

In London's West End theatres, they sell ice cream at the front of the aisles at the "interval." Ice cream eating doesn't seem to make much noise, though!
Love my ice cream at the interval!

They call me The Great Pretender.

Sorry, I got no problem with breastfeeding in public, but no one should be bringing an infant to the theatre. Get a sitter.

Great day.
Good night.

Last week, I bought Blu-ray/DVD steelcase limited editions of three Simon Pegg movies: Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Paul. They each also had downloadable digital copies and I'm downloading all three of them. Even though I probably will never watch them on my computer, it's nice to know that I have them if I ever want to. ;)
