Well, you've read the notes, the notes suffered from iron-poor blood, and not it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently using five-day deodorant pads because it amuses them ever so much.
-
And the word of the day is: FINAGLE!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all.
First after BK and Ben??
At 8:37 in the morning??
-
Boy, was I worn out last night. Still am, but I'll feel better after ingesting some breakfast material at the Denny's here at the motel.
-
It is Saturday; you are certainly right about that.
-
The Kettle!
That's in Manhattan Beach -- right? Unless there's another one now.
I used to spend many a happy and satisfying hour there at the counter ketchuping on reading while enjoying some good foodstuffs. It was known for that. Sometimes that whole section would be filled with people reading their papers and magazines and books. Food was always good, too.
If this was some other Kettle, then ... "never mind!"
-
I've never even seen the movie SHREK. And I think we'll just keep it that way.
-
DR DOUG R - I think you have to push the Spam can ring up and toward the outside before you pull it back to open the can.... I had one break off before....I used the famous needle nosed pliers to grab what was left of the pull and got it open....
-
Again thanks for the vibes and wishes for THE DROWSY CHAPERONE..... Last night was a bit strange. For some reason the director in her curtain speech decided to tell the audience to feel free to respond to me and added "say anything you like...." which meant that there were people talking to me all night....even before the lights came up....just stupid comments and weird things.....I replied to some of them. I have to admit it really threw my timing off and made me forget a few things.
I asked her not to say that again....and she didn't even know she HAD said it.....
-

DR Jane, I had prescriptions for Tylenol with codeine and a prescription for a muscle relaxant not one prescription containing both.
Okay. I'm off to the wilds of Manhattan.

I liked Katy Winters and her ads for Secret Deodorant....I think it was Secret....

Good morning, all.
Off to Fredericksburg this morning for rose' and barbecue. The adventure begins in earnest.
-
Funny, I found little to laugh at in Shrek the movie and nothing to laugh at in the cast recording of Shrek the musical.
-
TCB, I agree with you on the ending of "Storm of the Century." The ending was too drawn out, which can be unlike King. We didn't need all the stuff about the years that passed. It may have been only minutes, but it felt like years passing.
-
I have never tried spam.

TOD:
I have a vague memory of a cartoon beaver singing "Brush-a-brush-a-brush-a...." for some toothpaste. Ipana?
-
Yes....that was Ipana DR FJL.....Bucky Beaver!!!

I remember Katy Winters! But who was she other than a pitch-woman and why did she have to identify herself by name as if it was a name that carried some significance or one we should know?

I am home from errands, and I think I am improving nicely each day. Of course, it could be the Tylenol and the flexeril speaking! In a bit, I will walk up to a drugstore on Broadway and 84th and get a couple of luggage locks.
-
I called the airline yesterday and asked to check a second bag: $60.00 each way, which I paid. I won't attempt to lug about JFK my bag of scores, nooks and other items.

I have thought the conclusions to several King novels, beginning with It have dreadful endings. Much as I like his earlier novels, I've stopped reading him. I haven't watched any of Under the Dome, but I'm thinking about reading the novel.

Fell asleep at three-thirty, up at six-thirty. Three hours of sleep - not quite enough. So, I just girded my tired loins and did a three-mile jog at seven-thirty. Shortly I shall be on my way to the book fair. Oh, and I'm up. Oh, and get me off this damn page.

Yes....that was Ipana DR FJL.....Bucky Beaver!!!
I'm still reeling from the idea that the audience could talk back to you. Yikes! Maybe the director meant they should feel free to laugh, applaud and it came out wrong?
Like completely wrong words?

Happy Saturday! The latest Broadway Radio Show is now up on the site. It's a phone conversation with songwriter David Friedman. We chat about his work with Disney and Alan Menken, the wonderful, late Nancy La Mott, and, of course, his work on the Broadway musical Scandalous with Kathie Lee Gifford. We also chat about his 2 new CDs, Let Me Fly and A Different Light, which feature David singing 30 of his own songs. It's a fun and interesting interview -- ENJOY!

Errands run, I will lie down to watch some DVDs.

DR TCB - Thank you for the advice on what tools to use to get Spam tins open - if I have trouble again I'll make sure I've got the toolbox handy! Actually I did manage to open the replacement tin I'd bought, after following the detailed instructions - which of course I hadn't bothered to read the first time. I put a slice in a bread roll but I thought the meat was excessively salty (I'm sensitive to salt and hardly use it at all). This morning I fried a slice for breakfast with egg and bacon and being crispy it tasted quite good.
It only dawned on me recently that spam (or junk) email derives from the name of Spam. What a slur! I'm surprised the manufacturers didn't sue ;D

Hello All,
TOD:
CHANEL NO 5 with Catherine Deneuve. "You Don't have to ask for it, He knows what you want"
Yes beautiful Catherine, I'm also Catherine with a C. I used to try to imitate her accent and amuse my friends.
MIKEY LIFE CEREAL COMMERICAL: "He likes it! Hey Mikey!

Right now, THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE IS ON TCM.
I read the book and have seen this movie several times. I like both actors.
Gorgeous Lana Turner and handsome and rugged John Garfield"
-
I feel like watching a movie tonight. A good drama!
-
From DR John:
You're not crazy, unless you ride it like you're on a roller coaster.
:D
I would rather ride a roller coaster.

TOD Cont:

A beautiful Day here in West Seneca NY!
-
From DR TCB:
Of course you would. You are a vegetarian.
True, but I wouldn't eat it before I became a vegetarian.
-
From DR John:
Maybe they should develop vegetarian Spam. After all, there's canned vegetarian haggis, perhaps the only meat less inviting than Spam.
Oh G_d, please NO!!!!!
-
Yes DR TCB I was crazy to consider riding an ATV. I just didn't want Keith to pass to keep me company, which he has decided to do. We will not be riding ATV's. I just wish Bryan & Kate would pass to keep me company. I think she is going because he wants to do it.

Saturday Trivia Question
What one commonality Ann Southern and William Daniels have in common?
-
I do have to say that ONE good thing came of the director giving the audience carte blanche..... We got to the end of the show.....and if you have seen it, you know what I'm talking about....anyway....I say:
"....the mood is broken....I should just start the record [show] all over again.... No I can't do that, can I?"
And the voice of a little girl of about six rang out: "Yes, you can.... Yes you can! Please!!"
-
I just pointed to my watch and said: "No, I can't - I'm sorry....it's getting too late....."
-
That is cute, DR Jrand62. :)

DR Jeanne - I am glad that DR VinTek knew the Rolex music; I sure didn't!

Went on a bike ride with my niece to the library. Then we went swimming after my younger niece's nap.
It was a nice day but a bit cool. But the water was warm. I swam some half laps in the deep end.

When the Vixter and I went to Drowsy on Broadway we were lucky enough to get row 3 center orchestra seats the elderly lady directly in front of us kept answering the Man in the Chair finally ay intermission I asked her to stop and she said "but he is talking to me!" I had to explain that it was a play and he was talking to EVERYBODY in the theatre and our part was a silent one

DR Singdaw,
Love the jiffy pop picture. Kevin and I used to make it when we were wee ones.
We loved to watch it pop and it was so good to eat!
-
Spent about two hours at the book fair, which is all I could take - but this is the small one - only about sixty dealers there. The upcoming February fair will have over two hundred dealers. Still, I hung out with some dealer friends, did a couple of little trade deals and got some fun books, and then I was done. Considering how few dealers were there, there were some surprisingly good books there - all way overpriced, of course, and they won't sell, but it's always fun to look at pretty copies of collectible books. The ever-present actor Michael Lerner was there - I have yet to attend an LA book fair where he wasn't in attendance.
-
Wow, Deb, you and the Vixter do good work!!!
-
I'd already decided not to go back for dinner, so after I picked up no packages I went and had a turkey sandwich and a small thing of onion rings. Then I came home.

Then I watched a thirty-five minute documentary by Werner Herzog about texting and driving. I'm hoping everyone here is smart enough not to do it (I basically don't text at all, never in the car, and only occasionally respond when the cell phone is on the kitchen counter. These selfish idiots who cannot stay off their damn phones, who can't let one minute of their lives go by without texting someone some vital information like "I'm on my way" or something even stupider, need to watch this, learn from it - but sadly, IF they watch it they will learn nothing - they will think it couldn't happen to them and they will continue to be selfish, entitled people and turn their vehicles into killing machines. I can't say this documentary is any kind of fun, but I do guarantee you you will be moved by it.

I have thought the conclusions to several King novels, beginning with It have dreadful endings. Much as I like his earlier novels, I've stopped reading him. I haven't watched any of Under the Dome, but I'm thinking about reading the novel.
That's pretty much why I stopped reading King's novels, also. I love his writing style, but the endings tended to be crap. I watched the first few episodes of "Under the Dome," but I gave up on it. I lost interest in the characters' stories.

The wind has been blowing loud and hard. I went outside and sure enough the umbrella on the deck had tipped over. Acorns were falling on the walkway & deck faster than I could pick/sweep them up. I filled two dustpan fulls before coming back inside. For the moment it is quiet out there.

This morning I went to the farmer's market with Paul for breakfast. Had a good omelet.

Then I pulled a few more weeds and put them on the pile for Jeff to pick up

he came by at about 10:30 and took away my huge pile of sticks, logs and leaves

I pulled more weeds and gave up on yardwork

Okay. I'm off to the wilds of Manhattan.
Elmore, my friend, if I don't catch you tomorrow, have a safe and hopefully pain-free trip. Please tell your friend, Kim that your other friend, TCB, thinks she is terrific!!

Tomorrow I am going to the baptism of a friend's grandchild. I haven't seen the friend in years but she called the other day because it will be here in town. It's going to be done at the home by a friend who is a minister. At least I think that's what's going to happen. They want me to go over for sandwiches and may be a margarita. I know I should take a gift, but I don't even know the sex of the child or its name. I supposed I could just get a card. Hmmmm.

DR ELMORE is going to have to pay another baggage fee in order to carry all the VIBES for a great trip and a great recording!!!

I, too, will read 11/22/63 someday.
Let's just hope Stephen King doesn't write a book about Charles Manson, because we for damned sure don't need TWO MORE Manson movies.

THE DEAD CIRCUS isn't exactly a "Charles Manson" movie. It was described as a L.A. noir. The book actually begins in 1980, well after Helter Skelter.

I'll check out The Dead Circus right now.

Just read the hyperbolic review in the NY Times - the reviewer LOVED the book, but the review is more about the reviewer than the book, methinks. It sounds like warmed over Ellroy to me.

We don't have dear readers, we don't have GUESTS, but we got some fun new books on the shelves.

Good morning, all! I have to run several errands this morning - pharmacy, Verizon, and bank - and I will come home and assess the pains and possible damage I might have done myself. After that, I may begin packing and determine which luggage might behest.
DR Jane, I had prescriptions for Tylenol with codeine and a prescription for a muscle relaxant not one prescription containing both.
Okay. I'm off to the wilds of Manhattan.
Elmore, my friend, if I don't catch you tomorrow, have a safe and hopefully pain-free trip. Please tell your friend, Kim that your other friend, TCB, thinks she is terrific!!
DITTO!!!
DITTO AND DITTO!! Have a safe trip and I LOVE KIM CRISWELL!! :D

I have thought the conclusions to several King novels, beginning with It have dreadful endings. Much as I like his earlier novels, I've stopped reading him. I haven't watched any of Under the Dome, but I'm thinking about reading the novel.
I am enjoying 11/22/63. I must say that I am reading it a rather sluggish pace, but it is well written, and the story fascinates me.
11//22/63 I will read at some point - people I completely trust about King say it was a real return to form.
Hmm...maybe I should check it out, too.
