I'll be on a train in a few hours heading out to Long Island for a weekend of relaxation.

I'm listening to City of Angels at the moment.

I have my mp3 player and my reader so the train ride will go quickly (even though it's an hour and 15 minutes).

If I stick to Plan A this morning (which I'd better do; I don't even know what Plan B would be, and maybe I don't want to find out), I shall be twerking down to Redding for one of the annual library book sales I always try to catch.  These days I'm lucky if I find two or three things really worth getting, but it's always good to go and browse through what's there.  Hope reigns eternal.  And internal, when you keep it to yourself.

DRJohnG, Jerome Moross was the orchestrator for THE BISHOP'S WIFE.  U believe he went to Hollywod with his friend Aaron Copland to orchestrate THE HEIRESS, and that he wasn't hired to compose a film score until the 1950s. He wrote the "Little Mermaid" ballet and orchestrations for HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN.

And I am home from the MRI. My doctor will get the results on Tuesday.  It went well. they tell me. After a while my feet went to sleep, and moving and dressing were a bit of an ordeal when it was over.

Home from bike. train, and walk. Talk about an adventure!!! I'd post a map of my route, but it would be depressing as I was looking forward to my route today. I'll get the bike up and running again and try the route again.

As for music, it was crappy too. Need to edit some of my musical theatre selections as they contain TOOOOO much dialogue at the front and the back.

I thank my lucky stars the tire popped where it did, though. So, onward!

Fred, the self proclaimed "Italian Foodie" brought in lunch : he made Italian heroes for everyone and then had sliced tomatoes, shreeeded lettuce, sliced red onions and oil and vinegar so we could each dress them to our liking

the boss brought in a case of Corona and a six pack of Saranac Black Forest Lager ( I indulged in a bottle of the latter )

and we had ourselves a little partee

A nice day at work! :)  Does this mean you also got to leave at a reasonable time?

I was out  by 6:30!!  and I didn't go in until  8:45!! A short day for me!

Still too long but I'm glad it was shorter than usual.

Jennifer I cannot imagine having an MRI with a migraine. :(

Well the MRI was to figure out why I had the migraine. So really there was no option.  I just remember being shocked at how loud the noises were. Hopefully they have improved recently.

I know, no option but those can be head ache inducing to begin with.  I feel for you.

Last week I hope it was my horrid dinner that gave me a migraine & had me in the bathroom dry heaving.  I hate to think my migraines are getting worse.

And speaking of opening night, it's time for me to leave work and go to the theater!  I'm sure that it'll be fine, ("If by fine, you mean...." that's the beginning of one of my lines ;) ) but I've never done dinner theater before.  I can only hope that I'm not too distracted with everything that'll be going on.

Be back later with a report!!

Back from a three-mile jog.  I listened to Poltergeist II again this afternoon, five days after the last time I heard it, and I have to say I love it and it, for me, is a huge step up in quality from the previous CDs - each of those had their own peculiar thing I didn't care for, but we've fixed it all - my mastering engineer is thrilled, too, as he should be.  It took him five solid days to do it and it cost three times what most of our masters cost, but it was worth every penny.  I can't wait to see which label thinks they're now going to grab this to put out again - the two biggest of them both said releasing this score was completely not of interest to them, even though it's never been released complete.  Then they go and do their own completely unnecessary fourth issue of some CD adding ten seconds or something.  It is to laugh.  I guarantee you, one of these folks will be on the phone if people love this CD as I hope they will.  And they will fail because I have protected us from that happening, just as I did with The Missouri Breaks.  One of those two labels was on the phone trying to license our work as soon as it was sold out.  Oops.  And they would have put it out just as we did and would they have credited those who did the work?  I know what my guess is.

'Music Man Murray' Murray Gershenz dies at 91 (http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/posts/la-et-ms-music-man-murray-dies-20130829,0,6240789.story)

I know I was in his store a few times back when the record collecting bug first hit me.  But I'm actually uncertain which store it was.  This article says it was in West Adams, and I don't remember being in one in that area -- unless somewhere out on Jefferson Blvd. or some such isn't too much of a stretch.  I remember a lot of record stores, but not always which was which and which was where.

Guess I'll mosey on over to Gelson's and get something to nosh on - I've netted out at about four hundred calories so far, so I have to eat at least six or seven hundred more.

West Adams???  Maybe recently, but Music Man Murray was on Santa Monica Blvd. just west of Western all through the 60s and 70s.

Now THAT I remember from the early '70s.  And that was before I'd gotten the bug.

I've lately wondered about some record stores in a couple of other cities, too, so it's clearly time to take out my old issues of The Absolute sound, Stereophile, and a few Goldmines that featured record hunting tips.  That's where I got it all, and there it'll all be.

Watching a British flick called "Hunky Dory," with Minnie Driver as a teacher trying to stage a musical version of "Tempest" in her lower class school. Some of the music is really good. Some of the script could use work.

most people just smiled and nodded... one lady  came up and interogated us as to why we were dressed like that.... we  feigned surprise and looked down at our clothes in puzzlement

She said " well that's not your mustache!"

"It certainly is... I paid for it!"

then her husband dragged her away

the oddest comment  was  2 women who stopped and stared  at us then one said to the other , "The Jewish holidays are starting , I think it has something to do with Passover" (said in full voice  as if we were not hearing persons)

Home from another good rehearsal for the Heights show.  Now to watch some tv.  I did get the Blu and Ray's of The Phantom of the Opera and NYC Company concert, but I'm not sure i want to commit to either of those this eve.
