Someone has an opening night?  Oh, yeah - Break a Leg!

Thanks, BK!

And speaking of opening night, it's time for me to leave work and go to the theater!  I'm sure that it'll be fine, ("If by fine, you mean...." that's the beginning of one of my lines ;) ) but I've never done dinner theater before.  I can only hope that I'm not too distracted with everything that'll be going on.

Be back later with a report!!

Crazy busy day at work today. You'd never would have believed it was the day before a holiday. And stuff happening up until 5 p.m.

After that I felt like punishing myself at the gym, which was actually kind of fun.

Then dinner at a new European place. Had Jaeger Schnitzel with mushrooms and red cabbage on the side. Nice.

I don't know what planking is, either, Vixmom.  Do you think it's something we can do while we twerk?

It should be interesting for you. I also suspect it might be fun, at least I hope it is.

You might not have cared for the pork fat that was in it, however.

Back from a three-mile jog.  I listened to Poltergeist II again this afternoon, five days after the last time I heard it, and I have to say I love it and it, for me, is a huge step up in quality from the previous CDs - each of those had their own peculiar thing I didn't care for, but we've fixed it all - my mastering engineer is thrilled, too, as he should be.  It took him five solid days to do it and it cost three times what most of our masters cost, but it was worth every penny.  I can't wait to see which label thinks they're now going to grab this to put out again - the two biggest of them both said releasing this score was completely not of interest to them, even though it's never been released complete.  Then they go and do their own completely unnecessary fourth issue of some CD adding ten seconds or something.  It is to laugh.  I guarantee you, one of these folks will be on the phone if people love this CD as I hope they will.  And they will fail because I have protected us from that happening, just as I did with The Missouri Breaks.  One of those two labels was on the phone trying to license our work as soon as it was sold out.  Oops.  And they would have put it out just as we did and would they have credited those who did the work?  I know what my guess is.

'Music Man Murray' Murray Gershenz dies at 91

I know I was in his store a few times back when the record collecting bug first hit me.  But I'm actually uncertain which store it was.  This article says it was in West Adams, and I don't remember being in one in that area -- unless somewhere out on Jefferson Blvd. or some such isn't too much of a stretch.  I remember a lot of record stores, but not always which was which and which was where.

Guess I'll mosey on over to Gelson's and get something to nosh on - I've netted out at about four hundred calories so far, so I have to eat at least six or seven hundred more.

West Adams???  Maybe recently, but Music Man Murray was on Santa Monica Blvd. just west of Western all through the 60s and 70s.

Now THAT I remember from the early '70s.  And that was before I'd gotten the bug.

I've lately wondered about some record stores in a couple of other cities, too, so it's clearly time to take out my old issues of The Absolute sound, Stereophile, and a few Goldmines that featured record hunting tips.  That's where I got it all, and there it'll all be.

Watching a British flick called "Hunky Dory," with Minnie Driver as a teacher trying to stage a musical version of "Tempest" in her lower class school. Some of the music is really good. Some of the script could use work.

And good night, all. The barbecue trail calls early. Tomorrow, I'm headed out to the Midland-Odessa area, which is pretty far west.

most people just smiled and nodded... one lady  came up and interogated us as to why we were dressed like that.... we  feigned surprise and looked down at our clothes in puzzlement

She said " well that's not your mustache!"

"It certainly is... I paid for it!"

then her husband dragged her away

the oddest comment  was  2 women who stopped and stared  at us then one said to the other , "The Jewish holidays are starting , I think it has something to do with Passover" (said in full voice  as if we were not hearing persons)

I am also fairly certain that neither of these religious  holidays involve  women wearing moustaches...
