Well, you've read the notes, the notes were by The Cream Horn Trio, and now it is time for you to post until the creamy cows come home - and believe me, they know from cream.
-
And the word of the day is: ASSOIL!
-
DR TCB - I wish I was right there in person to give you a huge {{hug.}} There are no words...

-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
I had never heard of a cream horn before today.
-
I remember the first time I had a Dunkin' Donut. It was in Los Angeles and I was about 5 years old. I thought it was the best thing ever! :)
-
good morning to all
-
health vibes to all that need them
-
favorite pastry is "French" Eclair & Mille-feuille (Which translates as 1000 Flakes) and not sure what the English name is. A picture below

Good morning!

I'm off to New York, New York--meeting friends from California.

Thinking of you, TCB.

I'm off to New York, New York--meeting friends from California.
Are you meeting your Barbra friends that we met a couple of years ago?
-
Good morning, all.
Seems to be an Oy kind of day.
Let's start with some coffee.
-
VIBES to TCB!!!
-
And the word of the day is: ASSOIL!
Watch your phraseology!
-
:)
-
Vibes to TCB, lot of vibes :) :) :)
-
And the day starts.
Minus the cream horns. They have been seen.
I would eat all 3. How many calories ?
-
An éclair is a good thing.
-
Good morning.
Hope everyone's day is great.
;) ;D
-
And the word of the day is: ASSOIL!
I hear there are many of them in Texas. Excluding our own DRs John G. and Druxy, of course.

Let's just be glad no DRs hail from Athol, Mass.

Good morning. I'm on the bus. So far we're just sitting in the parking lot
-
TOD
Cream horns are my favorite and they are easily available here in the UK.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! Richard is having his first cardiac rehab session this morning and I'm doing a little desk work before taking my basement walk.
-
TCB I'm sending you a big hug. I've never believed what doctors tell me. I'd keep hoping.
-
For BK and anyone else interested in cream horns. These are made by Middletown's Central Pastry and I vaguely remember how delicious they are. Don't go to CP much anymore...
-
Good morning, all! Because I could not sleep well last night - most of the problem was allergy - I slept in this morning. At 8:30 I forced myself to get up in case Susanna Moross Tarjan had scheduled a conference call between me, her, and her website person (http://www.moross.com) about THE GOLDEN APPLE. No email, so that means it won't be this morning.
I'll make the bed and have my usual day of doing very little.
DR cillaliz, is this your first stand as a great aunt?
DR TCB, I send hugs; your situation is my biggest fear.
-
DR TCB. :(
Big hugs and vibes!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
DR TCB, I agree with DR Cillaliz - don't give up. You remain in my thoughts and prayers.
-
TOD
I used to go for things like eclairs, napoleons, cream horns, etc. Somewhere along the line I either had a few disappointing ones or I just got tired of them. But those horns in the picture look excellent. I shall have to go seek out a few horns or something today.
I'm trying to think of places I used to go specifically for that kind of pastry. Walter's Tea Room and Pastry Shop, or whatever the actual name was, in Beverly Hills. On this coast, I remember one called Eclair, on West 72nd Street -- maybe DR Elmore knew it -- I think it was in the block east of Broadway, north side of the street.
-
I voted in the runoff for Public Advocate. I'm sure I was one of 10s casting my vote.
-
TOD:
I'm gluten free, so I don't eat pastries any more.
However, I used to love cheese danish.

SPOILER AHEAD:
I remember THE BIG COMBO. It's okay, not terrific.
The one scene that sticks in my memory is the one in which Brian Donlevy gets killed.
-
Dr Elmore. I have 3 grand nephews..well 4 if you count my step grand nephew and 2 grand nieces. That really makes me sound old
-
I'd like to start singing "the wheels on the bus go round and round" but I won't
-
I know a few people on the trip but have a seat to myself. Just how I like it
-
DR Cillaliz, I hope you have fun today and enjoy your day away. Are you the youngest person on the bus?
-
Travel and fun vibes to DR CILLA LIZ and DR KEVIN H.
I am going nowhere today.....as usual.
-
No DR VIXMOM you are NOT one of those people.
DR TCB - don't stop hoping because of a doctor's deadline.....
-
TOD:
Probably a donut.....probably from Biff's the bakery in town that is still in business and still selling the same stuff.....well - newly baked or fried or whatever they do to it.
They have cream horns which are very good and very flaky.
-
I wonder if DR CILLA LIZ got any news yesterday? If she did, I bet it was good news.
-
Good morning.
I've been waiting for MONTHS for October to arrive.
-
DR Cillaliz, I hope you have fun today and enjoy your day away. Are you the youngest person on the bus?
yes lol. But thats ok.

I commented on the horns but didn't really answer the question.
First pastries (other than birthday cakes, cupcakes, and the like) were almost certainly doughnuts. Usually went for the glazed and cruller varieties, and -- guess what, I still do! Though I do actually like many kinds.
First memories include a "cold" "winter" Saturday morning in Fort Lauderdale, listening to a re-broadcast of the Messiah we had attended previously, me in seventh heaven over both the music and the box of doughnuts my dad had brought home which was kind of a rare treat back then. Skip ahead to one of my college years in Cleveland, when I lived near a Mister Donuts and got addicted to sitting at their counter eating the glazed and crullers and drinking their wonderful coffee from regular, you know, ceramic mugs. Delicious. And then skip ahead a bunch more years to discovering Dunkin' Donuts' coffee, also served in wonderful ceramic mugs so you could actually TASTE it. I so miss that.
Of course in my L.A. years I became infatuated with Stan's Donuts and the wonderful varieties they offered. Yes sirree, I do love me my doughnuts.
Definitely going out today for some pastry or other. I need a treat.
-
TOD: Sigh.
Currently, nothing is better to me than a "morning bun", but my head can be turned by a warm chocolatine from the French patisserie "La Farine".
Other favorites have included Krispy Kreme donuts just off the glazing belt (the enjoyment now would be short-lived because the leaden reality of the donut would soon make itself known in my stomach); chocolate èclairs (is it redundant to say "chocolate" in this case? I've never seen an èclair in any other flavor!); extraordinary cinnamon rolls, glazed; and, the most decadent, baklava. Ooooooooh....
-
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas,
Everywhere I shop.
-
Cinnamon rolls were, and still are, a HUGE favorite among breakfast pastries. No question about it. I love anything approaching a freshly baked cinnamon roll. However, there was one store-bought variety I used to get at Hughes Market in Beverly Hills, that I'd give anything to have again today. It was a "special" Van De Kamp one that came only one or two to a package. Ate those every weekend morning, with my then-newly discovered French press coffee, for a couple of years.
-
TCB: Let us carry the burden of "hope" for you. I'm praying for a Christmas miracle.
-
Happy Birthday, dame Julie!

The laundry is ready. I'm waiting for the President's press conference at 12:30.

I could WRITE the President's comments, if I had half a mind to.

Hmmm . . . the press conference didn't happen at 12:30! Did I hear something incorrectly?
More than likely. I guess I'll do laundry.

Not sure what's happening - maybe there's a glitch like the one on the HealthCare Exchange site that is still not working correctly.

Whoever wrote the greeting for that card must have been drunk. It is plain odd.
-
TCB, very glad that you talk the other night went so well. And how nice of that gal to say those nice things to you!! No doubt it is nice for an actor to know his work has been appreciated!
-
Good morning.
TOD - Oy... I live within steps of a donut shop. NOT A GOOD THING. Although, I'm a fan of the ham and cheese croissant more than anything else.
-
Speaking of acting, I am helping the India-US group (of which I am a member) with the upcoming Diwali celebration. I was asked to consider playing Lord Vishnu in a little play for the event. I told them that was not going to happen. LOL! Besides being a terrible actor, I would never be able to remember my lines.
Although the idea of dressing up as a god did appeal to me.

Many congratulations on the book releases of DR FJL and DR Druxy!

TOD:
Any cake donut with frosting and sprinkles.

And now I am caught up...I think.
-
Hello All:
I am not really a pastry person.
I do enjoy Entenmans Cream Cheese crumble cake. My favorite cake is Wegmans Ultimate Chocolate Fudge Cake. My mother was a fantastic cook and baker, and Wegmans cake and frosting comes close to hers, but not as good.
-
DR TCB:
Never stop hoping! My prayers are on their way to you!.

ASSOIL:

Now for some sad news:
Actress Kim Hamilton passed away.
Many will remember her from TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD and ODDS AGAINST TOMORROW. Others will remember her from THE LEECH WOMAN and THE WIZARD OF BAGHDAD.
She got her start as a semi-regular on the old AMOS AND ANDY television series (which, by the way, she was very proud to have been in and she has never understood all the negativity aimed towards the show).
She also appeared in tons of TV shows like LEAVE IT TO BEAVER, TWILIGHT ZONE, and more recenlty, on LAW AND ORDER.
(http://www.wearysloth.com/Gallery/ActorsH/tve20607-19671202-213.jpg)
-
Also, Patricia Blair, who played Mrs. Daniel Boone on the old DANIEL BOONE tv series, and who guest starred on just about every other tv show ever made, passed away as well.

Very weird dreams.
-
Many vibes and xylophones to TCB.
-
It's funny, but I've never thought of donuts or cupcakes or cake as pastries.
-
DR Kevin,
I hope you are safely in NYC. I thought you weren't going till 3:00 Today.
Give me a call when you have a chance.
-

Here's a thought: Portray the god, but have someone offstage read your lines for you.
-
It's funny, but I've never thought of donuts or cupcakes or cake as pastries.
Correct. They are not.
All right, which ASSOILS started talking about donuts and cupcakes!? I want names! :)
-
He's talking now DR ELMORE.
Well, I missed it! The laundry is in the dryers, though.
-
I'd planned to drive to Wales tomorrow to visit my sister but my car won't now be ready from servicing until tomorrow - there was a backlog and I don't think they've even started work on it. I'll now have to travel on Thursday instead.
-
Been doing Sandy stuff - they're about to send out a blast but I really hated the text so I spent an hour revising it.

Greetings, all!
Survived the closing, packing and moving home, so back to the land of the living. The good news is, the artistic director opened up a conversation with me about out disastrous director, and other than one show he is already contracted for, this faux director is done there. Lordy, what a mess he made.
TOD: My favorite pastry were always the Bear Claws, those almond-paste-filled delights with a light frosting on the top. Yummm!

~~~Vibes of All Kinds for DR TCB!!~~~
DR Kevin,
I hope you are safely in NYC. I thought you weren't going till 3:00 Today.
Give me a call when you have a chance.
Yes, that's correct, Kate. I'm on the train now--we just left Baltimore.
-
I'm off to New York, New York--meeting friends from California.
Are you meeting your Barbra friends that we met a couple of years ago?
Yes! Well, one of them is a Barbra friend.
-
Well, I'm happy to say that luckily my department has funding, so I'll be paid for my vacation. I have a friend at the Dept. of Education who is not so lucky. The general feeling is that the employees will not be paid for the days furloughed, unlike in 1996.
-
Good morning, all! Because I could not sleep well last night - most of the problem was allergy - I slept in this morning. At 8:30 I forced myself to get up in case Susanna Moross Tarjan had scheduled a conference call between me, her, and her website person (http://www.moross.com (http://www.moross.com)) about THE GOLDEN APPLE. No email, so that means it won't be this morning.
I went to the Moross website and clicked on the link of Martin Bashir's tribute to Jerome Moross. He (Bashir) shows/plays a clip of Sarah Vaughan supposedly singing "Lazy Afternoon," but there was no Sarah singing...they obviously had to replace the music! So, here's a link of Sarah Vaughan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSqhclABTnQ) singing the song, and here's a link of Kaye Ballard (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVaEiPjLgtE) from the original cast recording. :)
-
TCB--I meant to say that I'm glad you made it to the event the other night and that you had a nice time!
That's so cute! :D
-
TOD: I love crème-filled patstries...my fav, the chocolate éclair.
BK, to answer you from last night. Brett is my favourite Sherlock Holmes. By far the most accurate and the most dangerous. He was not afraid to make Holmes thoroughly disagreeable and dislikeable at times, which he could be. The latter entries in some of the series get a bit rocky where they've tried to pad out rather slender stories and where Jeremy was ill and on medication that bloated him up. But for the most part this is the best Holmes incarnation ever in terms of faithfully adapting the original Conan Doyle character and tales to the screen.
-
We seem to have been down for a moment - they're checking the problem
-
Amtrak train 148 has just arrived in Philadelphia.
-
I'll look forward to the Brett Sherlock series - have to find out the broadcast order, as that's how I'd like to view.
-
We seem to be back up.
-
I had problems connecting and/or staying connected. I'll be back later.
-
A momentary glitch of some sort - awaiting word about what it was - but we're fine now.
She should have been proud of the work. I don't understand the negativity either, especially with what is often considered acceptable and I find degrading humor.
-
It's funny, but I've never thought of donuts or cupcakes or cake as pastries.
I've been thinking the same thing while reading all the posts.
I'd planned to drive to Wales tomorrow to visit my sister but my car won't now be ready from servicing until tomorrow - there was a backlog and I don't think they've even started work on it. I'll now have to travel on Thursday instead.
This is super cute!
Thanks and a tip o' the hat to DR MBarnum for recommending those Shout/Timeless DVD 4-packs. On the two sci-fi ones, I had only one out of the eight films. There's also a horror 4-pack, and out of those four I needed two of the films. Comparing the two horror transfers to the earlier ones on "Midnite Movies", the older ones were definitely a little better and of a higher bit rate. But for five bucks per set, and for not having 9 of the 12 films, these were a fine deal.
-
I stopped buying Bear Claws as each time there seemed to be less almond paste than previously, no matter where I got them.
LOL, yes I do :)
There is a restaurant in town where I like to order hot chocolate. As usual, even requesting it light, they put too much whipped cream on top. It is superb whipped cream and it actually take willpower for me not to eat the extra I don't want in my hot chocolate.
-
Had a really convoluted and crazy dream last night! Can't remember most of the details, but it involved a cast of thousands, Debbie Reynolds singing and dancing, and a stolen painting.
What was the little French restaurant, Jane?
Mon Arc's on Pico near Robertson.
This looks delicious. There was a little French restaurant in L.A. that had stars in the ceiling, a handsome French waiter, excellent food and the best Napoleons.
I love a mille-feuille which is also the name I know them by. But I think they are the same or similar to Napoleons.
-
My niece who just started grade 3 finally started reading with her English teacher at school yesterday. The teacher was not 100% sure of her level. But she was able to read and understand level 29 (which is grade 5 reading level). I'm so proud that she loves to read.
Her spelling has also improving a lot. They have not focused on English much until this year. And every time my niece would write stuff she would sound it out. So there would be quite a few words spelled incorrectly. Today I saw huge paragraphs and there was only one mistake.
Also she has a project to do and she wrote something like "i must of ..." instead of "i must have ...". My sister said not to have her correct it because she probably was not able to know the difference. But my niece wanted me to just show her the mistake. When I said "i must of" is not right she said, "yeah it's supposed to say "i must have" :)
-
DR Jennifer, it is great your niece is doing so well in school.
I've had Chinese food for dinner, and it's time to get ready for bed. The Moross conference call is set for tomorrow at 11:00.
-
;D DR George.
When we were in Paris I just pointed to what I wanted, worked just fine.
Our last day there we went shopping in the morning for a relaxing dinner in our hotel room (we had a frig). It was a simple dinner of French pizza, champagne, and Napoleons for dessert. The hotel was not the best but the meal and the view of the Eiffel Tower were perfection.
-
I mixed sour cream cookie dough and have it sitting in the frig. I need to roll the dough into cookie balls to freeze before baking tomorrow. Keith's cousin is arriving for a visit.
I thought it was supposed to be "Chinese Food in Bed." :)
Yes, please.
-
Jennifer, great news about your niece. I hate "must of," too.
-
Have had trouble posting.
-
I'm running a little late, so it's theater time. Tonight, it won't be a big deal to be later rather than earlier (I'll certainly get there before the run starts), because all I'm doing right now is setting off the snow video and that only happens maybe eight times in the first act, and then it's done...no more for the rest of the show. Hopefully, David will have all his sound cues built and set by tomorrow (our invited dress rehearsal), but they have to be done by Friday at the latest. That's when we officially open and have a real paying audience.
Be back later!
Pretty platter DR John.
I was having trouble controlling my mouse so I changed the batteries. Now it is even worst. It took awhile to be able to do anything. I may be getting off soon if this problem persists.
-
I guess I like cream filled donuts....if that's a pastry.....
We are not very sew-fisty-kated here, so just about anything passes for pastry in some of these parts.
-
Pretty platter DR John.
Thanks. It's from the local Culinary Institute of American bakery.
Six!
TOD:
My favorite pastries could be the chocolate-dripped baklava at a Greek bakery in Tarpon Springs, Fla., or my Black Forest Tiramisu with soaked cherries and chocolate shavings added to the mascarpone and ladyfingers.
-
Just watched the first act of Book of Mormon on a fairly good bootleg and haven't laughed once. I find this surprising because I love South Park. I just find this forced. And the score is not as bad as it is on the album. But it's nothing more than aural wallpaper.
-
Made a weird dish tonight: a raw, vegan "fried rice" with cauliflower, a raw soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger and garlic. It looks like fried rice, especially when you stir in scallions and top it all with raw sesame seeds. It just doesn't taste like fried rice.
-
Falling asleep way too early. Good night, all.
-
Much love to TCB!
-
Had a fun first rehearsal with most of the cast, about which more later. One cast member has to come tomorrow - John Sloman and our guest star, Terri White isn't with us until Friday. And I got a very sweet e-mail from David Shire who is sad he can't be there for the show, but is just too busy with work and family to make the trip. He's going to write something for me to read there, and hopes we can Skype or iChat him in while the show's going on - I don't think we'll probably do that, but I will have someone tape a few numbers so he can see them.
Travel vibes to Cilla and Kevin H
Toby is finally out of the pet hospital. It was wonderful to hear his little bark around the house again.
The Tv ad for Alive vitamins is extremely flamboyant.
I cannot say what my first pastry was
Napoleons are wonderful and cheese danish and lemon meringue pie, and saskatoon berry pie and chocolate croissants (when they are warm and fresh) and pumpkin pie and apple pie
I'm off to New York, New York--meeting friends from California.
Are you meeting your Barbra friends that we met a couple of years ago?
Yes! Well, one of them is a Barbra friend.
I remember when it was a friend of Judy
i've decided to give up eating bread, rice and pasta. It has been difficult since many of the frozen meals have rice or some form of pasta in them. Been doing WW since april and have almost lost 35lbs. Hoping that removing wheat from my diet will help with the weight loss. I l love to eat bread and so far that's the most difficult one to give up.
-
I don't believe any of that malarky about cutting out bread and rice and pasta - you just have to eat small amounts and not overdo it. They're no worse than anything else, and are calorically speaking better than a lot of stuff. I have lost close to forty pounds and I have never once stopped bread, rice (I don't eat a lot of rice anyway) or pasta.
Finessed the mix, edited together those tracks that needed it and solved a puzzling mystery and this very short score, that we've been mucking about with since JUNE is finally finished.
I'm running a little late, so it's theater time. Tonight, it won't be a big deal to be later rather than earlier (I'll certainly get there before the run starts), because all I'm doing right now is setting off the snow video and that only happens maybe eight times in the first act, and then it's done...no more for the rest of the show. Hopefully, David will have all his sound cues built and set by tomorrow (our invited dress rehearsal), but they have to be done by Friday at the latest. That's when we officially open and have a real paying audience.
Be back later!
We had a good run-through tonight. David hasn't finished building all the sound cues, so he'll be there again tomorrow. For some reason, I was thinking that today was Wednesday. What's that all about? Tomorrow (the real Wednesday) is just our final dress without an audience and Thursday is the actual final dress with the invited audience.
