Well, you've read the notes, the notes said knock knock, and now it is time for you to post until the knock knock cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HOMOLOGATE!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.

Wow, the time stamps are all over the place, aren't they?

Wow, the time stamps are all over the place, aren't they?
They are very, Very, VERY (that's three VERYs) wonky.
-
I'm sure it will all be fixed in the morning when they get in.

And here's the details on the new Kritzerland release, which is already live now.
Kritzerland is proud to present a new limited edition release – two great scores on one CD:
TAPS
and
THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN
Composed and Conducted by Maurice Jarre
In 1981, Maurice Jarre was hired to score Taps, a Twentieth Century-Fox film, directed by Harold Becker, starring George C. Scott and an pretty incredible array of up and coming young talent, including Timothy Hutton, Sean Penn and Tom Cruise. Taps was a hit with both critics and audiences – a taut and tense story of a group of cadets who take over their military academy instead of allowing it to be closed. The acting from everyone was superb, and Becker’s direction of the screenplay by Robert Mark Kamen, James Lineberger and Daryl Ponsican (from the novel Father Sky by Devery Freeman) is simple and assured. Tying it all together is Jarre’s wonderful score. Many cues are sparsely scored for trumpet, piano and percussion to excellent effect, and the other cues are used carefully throughout the film and help give the film its tension, emotion and texture.
A decade earlier, Jarre was hired to compose the score for what would be director George Stevens’s final film – the 1970 romantic comedy/drama The Only Game in Town. The two powerhouse stars were Elizabeth Taylor (reunited with Stevens, with whom she’d worked to great success in A Place in the Sun and Giant) and Warren Beatty (his first film after Bonnie and Clyde).
The resulting film was not successful with either critics or audiences. It opened, had a brief run, and disappeared. But all these years later, thanks to the recent Twilight Time Blu-ray release, we get to finally reassess the film, which, as it turns out, is pretty entertaining – not perfect by any means, but with some wonderful dialogue, star-power performances from Taylor and Beatty, and George Stevens’s usual elegant direction.
For the film, Maurice Jarre came up with a truly great score. Beginning with a lonely trumpet leading directly into an exciting and jazzy “Vegas” feel, leading back to a melancholy duet for sax and trumpet (the film is all about loneliness, connections missed or made, and has a pervasive feeling of melancholy), Jarre’s score compliments the movie perfectly.
Taps was previously released on CD on Varese Sarabande as a limited edition that sold out quickly. This is the premiere release for The Only Game in Town – we present all the cues that were usable, about twenty minutes’ worth, but, thankfully, it’s most of the score and is fully representative of the cues Jarre wrote.
Taps/The Only Game in Town is limited to 1000 copies only and is priced at $19.98, plus shipping.
CDs will ship the last week of December, but preorders placed at Kritzerland usually ship one to five weeks early (we’ve been averaging four weeks). To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.

Nice double post. Jeez!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
My time stamp seems to be OK. It says 4:59am and that's the actual time in New York.
-
The newest Kritzerland CD has been ordered.

Well - the site being down does have one advantage - it takes less time to catch up. :)
-
good morning to all
-
tod
i enjoyed the football game sequence from the Altman's MASH.
-
I hope today goes smoothly for the site and for everybody!
-
Good morning, all!
I'm dealing with physical therapy angst this morning,
-
My time stamp is good.
-
No faxed referral for physical therapy. I need to call my HMO at 8:30 and see if the referral went through and, if so, have it faxed to the PT office. Oy.
-
Good morning, all.
Oys for all!
Now where did I put that coffee?
-
Monday morning greetings! It's so nice to be home - slept like a rock last night.
-
TOD
Strangers on a Train - ? (haha)
Hey, someone had to say it.
I'll have to think about this one...
-
And the referral is faxed and I am set. On my way there, I will stop and purchase those Liquid Paper correction strips I need, and I've got to make a barber appointment.
I haven't had my hair cut since August 5. It's really a walking ordeal to get to Radio City, so I'll have to take a car service.
-
Back to my routine today. Mom has an appointment with our gastroenterologist to see about the esophageal stricture that was detected two weeks ago. Hopefully, it's an easy fix...
-
Good morning, all.
Glad to know that my inability to link up to the page was not my lousy internet connection's fault.

Good luck, Mike, on finding that last song.

I'm getting that weird message that my last was less than five seconds ago when there was a definitely greater length of time between posts.

Hmmm, what the hell happened to my post?

I don't know.

The one where I said she looks very content, as though you'd just gotten done scratching her belly, DR John G.

I have received an email telling me that if I have chosen the show to be my winter term project, I will have to rehearse/workshop/discuss at least 6 hours per day M/F beginning January 6. I also have to take part in the production and the strike to get credit.... I do not think this applies to me.

If I knew this, I'd forgotten it until an email from The University of Michigan Alumni Association reminded me: Margo Martindale was a year behind me there and I saw her in at least 2 musicals - FUNNY GIRL as Mrs. Brice (1972) and WEST SIDE STORY as Bessie Shawn (1973). I think her current series on CBS is a tremendous waste of her talent. Here's the article:
Margo Martindale (http://www.music.umich.edu/muse/2013/spring/Margo-Martindale.html)

Maurice Jarre is one of the great ones.
He used to be a publicity client. I did his Oscar campaign for MOHAMMED, MESSENGER OF GOD (aka: THE MESSAGE). We got the nomination for Best Original Score, but that, unfortunately, was the year of STAR WARS.
-
TOD - The Longest Yard (Burt Reynolds' version), Ice Castles, Angels in the Outfield, Damn Yankees, A League of their Own, and the Saturday afternoon football sequence in The Big Chill.

Love Margo. I think the first time I saw her was in Nobody's Fool and she was great in her scenes with Paul Newman. Then her season on Justified was excellent.
-
I do enjoy Margo Martindale but as Ginny said, what a waste. I guess you do jobs when you need the money or the work but god, what an awful show she's in (and Beau Bridges also). I've tried to watch an entire episode but for me, it's an impossible mission. The writing is embarrassing and the plots give a new definition to the word "stupid" It's sad (and hard to believe) that the great James Burrows is part of this mess.
I also feel the same about Mom. Alison Janney, OMG!!!
-

In show biz, unless you are a MAJOR star or are independently wealthy, work is work. You go where the jobs are.
And, you never know if your current job will be your last.
-
DR Ben, you and I are on the same page! Another waste in Margo's series is Jayma Mays, who I thought was one of the best in GLEE. As for MOM, the promos kept me from watching because I could see how embarrassing it would be for Dayton-local Allison Janney
-
I must say, except for the time-stamps that need fixing, we're back in fine form -- without any of the lag that we were experiencing intermittently even after the bigger slowdown earlier last week or whenever it was. At any rate, that's what I'm enjoying at present.
-

Having been in the business for over 20 years (I've been out for 22 years) I know that you have to take work as it comes but that doesn't mean that the work doesn't suck.

I'm up, I'm up. Had the telephonic call, so that's out of the way. I think I got almost eight hours of sleep - not quite enough, but am I glad I actually announced before bedtime!

The techs should be in by ten and then hopefully we can fix all that needs fixing.
-
The time stamps on the posts are what's wonky at least on my screen. According to the post above, I made it at three-forty-three in the morning.
-
My time stamps at home this morning were fine but now, here at the office, they are wildly off. This one says 5:44AM
-
That's what's so crazy about it. You'd think time stamps have to be either all right or all wrong. (Time ZONE adjustments notwithstanding.)
I mean, they're all generated at one source, right?
-
And now, Chas, your time stamp looks correct 1:04pm (it's 1:15 pm right now)
-
Good morning. Nice to be here, time stamps and all.
-
I've sent the e-mail about everything that needs to be checked and adjusted - hopefully it will be soon.
-
test
-
Well, that went through quickly so maybe we're better now? And the timestamp is an hour ahead now, so maybe the board didn't automatically adjust for non-Daylight Savings time?
-
Here's another quickie.
-
Well, all going through just fine now.

I loved her on the show A GIFTED MAN.
I haven't seen her on THE MILLERS. But starring in your own comedy can't be that bad a thing.
-
And the word of the day is: HOMOLOGATE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: BLESS THIS HOUSE
-
I am home from physical therapy. It was packed today and things went rather slowly.
-
Well, my first post this morning was correct on the time, but now my time clock is screwed.

I guess many look at the example of "Everybody Loves Raymond". They think: "Oh, Krishna! What if the mom is another Marie Barone?"
-
But no one is getting the error message for the last couple of hours, right?
-
Here's another quickie.
It seems to be working for me, just taking a little longer to go from page to page than I would expect. This post actually showed up quite quickly.
-
But no one is getting the error message for the last couple of hours, right?
I haven't gotten the error message. :)

From DR Chas:
At least one individual in our midst does not need to hear about backup generators not coming on and doing their job.

It took two attempts for my last post.
2nd attempt for this post.
-
From DR George:
I don't think that the "auto detect" option has anything to do with the time stamp problem.
Those are the directions I saved from way back when.......It seems to do the trick even if I am doing an extra step.
-
DR Cilla, glad to hear the salesman admitted his mistake and is doing what should be done to make up for it.

My time stamp is correct.

Funny, because while I don't think MOM is great it is the only new sitcom I can tolerate to watch anymore. I get the feeling Alison Janney is having a darn good time with her character.
-

Last night I caught a bit of THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA. This season's "new comedies" aren't funny.
They are painful, yes. But funny, no.

This morning I had to go to Toys R Us to pick up some items on hold. Since it is next to Barnes and Noble I took my Nook HD along with the battery charger that doesn't connect very well. The in-store charger worked just fine, however, they aren't permitted to replace chargers. I just got off the phone with Nook and should have a new one before the end of the week.

Mom met our gastroenterologist today and is scheduled for an endoscopy on Thursday. She went with me on a library errand, then we shopped for her at Dorothy
Lamour Lane Market. Most of the food she bought is soft.

Let's see what my time stamp says.

3:39pm. Which is 6:39pm Eastern. So perfect.

I think I need to go to Toyland tomorrow. I would rather not, but . . .

My time is still an hour off, but it's nothing to do with our host and everything to do with the software - so they continue to work on it.

Everything else is fine. And I think the time thing is only happening on the West Coast.

I'm trying to get out of here, but my iPhone and iTunes have decided to upgrade and it's taking forever.

We are experiencing phone & internet problems again.

DR Ginny I have had two endoscopies. The first one I was semi awake and remember being told to swallow. It wasn't too bad and I don't remember pain after.
The second one I was totally out but boy did my throat hurt afterwards, representative of the problems that led me to repeating the procedure. The doctor suggested children's tylenol for pain. I should have swallowed tylenol capsules instead-boy were those yucky.
I hope the appointment is early enough that you can make sure your mother is ok before leaving her alone.
Do you plan to stay with your mother for

Might as well do a little test, myself...

DR Jane, our endoscopy center requires that someone stay in in the waiting room throughout the procedure - no dropping off and picking up. Before I leave her at home I will notify the nurses in the clinic that's just one floor below her apartment.

Oh, and I didn't expect you to leave her at the hospital. I am only thinking of recovery time after she returns home.
-
This evening, after having it on the shelf for what, a couple of years? -- I watched the 1977 Japanese film House. Wow! I just hadn't gotten into the mood to sit through it all to try it before, and I'm glad I've finally done it. Weird, and lots of fun. There's a very informative interview with the director (Obayashi) included on the Criterion disc, along with an earlier film Emotion which I'll watch another day.
Here's another thing that's weird. There are all kinds of things that various elements of the film can remind you of, but there was one that kept bugging me until I finally identified it. Its particular tone -- being constructed as though through the eyes of kids -- made me think of Junior High School! And as strange as this one is, I mean that in a totally fine way.

Good evening. I was out the door before dawn again. The day was a bust, however, as the directions to the wildlife place were wrong and there were no signs anywhere.
-
Sorry your day was a bust.
-
Wow. I'm just wondering how there can possibly be a wildlife jernt that DR Laura wouldn't have already known about, and be able to get there blindfolded. :)
-
Ha ha! I usually go to the same places all the time.
-
When I was at Barnes and Noble today the guy helping me said there is now a Kindle app and downloaded it for me. I haven't attempted to use it yet.

Hello, everyone.
Well, I was trying to catch up on the posts yesterday. I guess I chose a bad day to do that! I'm not halfway caught up, but haven't read today's yet.
-
DR Ginny, I can't believe your NY trip has come and gone so quickly! So sorry to hear about the unplanned trip to one of NY's more mundane sites, but I'm glad you still made it to TWELFTH NIGHT.
-
Six!
-
Fun to see photos from the NYC get-together, including the E&T Jose.
-
Back to catching up.

Thanks, DR Jeanne. Our time in New York really did go fast.

Topic of the Day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sports_films):
The Bad News Bears (the original)
The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training
Bend It Like Beckham
The Black Stallion
The Blind Side
Chariots of Fire
Damn Yankees
Death Race 2000
Golden Boy
Heart Like a Wheel
Heaven Can Wait
Ice Castles
The Karate Kid
A League of Their Own
The Legend of Bagger Vance
The Love Bug (the original)
The Triplets of Belleville
I've seen all of these and although I don't remember everything about all of them, I do remember liking all of them. :)
-
DR George I don't even want to read that story :(
-
I am surprised I even have a connection. The phone company is coming in the morning, or sometime during the day.
The heating guy is also coming in the morning. The temps began dropping this afternoon and began rising again shortly after Keith made an appointment. We still want the heater guy here to be sure everything is working ok.
-
Well, I think I'm now caught up.
Isn't that fascinating?
-
Fans of Margo Martindale--and I am one of those--should watch THE RICHES. She's marvelous there. I think the writers killed her off too soon in JUSTIFIED.
-
Last night I recalled Larry mentioning something about MIRANDA. I hadn't heard of it, but was looking for something new and since I choose most of my viewing based on comments here on HHW, I tried it. OMG! Miranda HART! I LOVED her in CALL THE MIDWIFE. She was so warm and down to earth. Well, I am now a big fan of MIRANDA. I laughed so hard that not only were tears coming from my eyes, but it was almost hard to breathe! One of the reviews said that her comedy wasn't very clever, but it WAS funny. She does it so well. In less capable hands much of the physical comedy just wouldn't land. So, thank you, Larry, and thank you, HHW.
-
Time for din-din.
TTFN.
-
Oh, and I enjoy DR John G's barbeque excursions. But I could not do your job. Wouldn't even want to try. I am happy to hear about it from my sofa.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work and go to my sister's. She needs help with...something. I forget what. ;)
Anyway, be back later!
-
I'm back from Sandy's show at the Signature Theatre. She was great! She sang almost all the songs from the new CD as well as "This Christmas" as the encore.
-
Sandy heaped lots of praise on BK!
After the show she was talking to some people. I stood nearby waiting my turn. She saw me out of the corner of her eye and put her hand out towards mine as she continued talking and in a moment or two introduced me to the people she had been talking to, her neighbors. She's such a warm person! I'm crazy about her!
-
The 7-piece band was great too!
-
well I am glad to see that HHW is up and running and that all our DRs were avoided by tornadoes

Just watched Miss Esther Williams in "Texas Carnival." It's the dessert and she finds a place to swim. Go figure.
Daffy bit of nonsense with some fun Dorothy Fields lyrics.
-

That is super exciting!

Please, Vixmom. For full effect, you should post those riddles in your lovely Lawn Guyland accent! :)

That bird is incredible. I've got to ask a couple of birder friends about it.
-
I was told it's a South African bird, but I don't know if that was the truth
-
HMMM apparently we have a channel called NYCLife which seems to have an emphasis on Broadway... how is it possible I never knew about this channel before?
-
I saw my commercials today in English and Spanish. When I see myself speaking in Spanish it makes me giggle

I want to see DR Cillaliz's commercials! And I wish I got that Broadway-oriented channel!
-
Finished with my viewing. I decided no work at all today and tonight and I've stuck to it. What I needed.
-
HMMM apparently we have a channel called NYCLife which seems to have an emphasis on Broadway... how is it possible I never knew about this channel before?
Why can't there be this kind of channel in Washington state??
