Well, you've read the notes, the notes gave thanks, and now it is time for you to post until the Thanksgiving cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BOBORYGMUS!
-
Thanksgiving morning greetings! Up early to ease into the day before the company starts arriving. Gotta be showered and dressed by 9am so I can see the Broadway performances at Herald Square.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Happy Thanksgiving!
-
Happy Chanukah and Happy Thanksgiving, Everybody!
-
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
-
HAPPY CHANNUKAH!
-
The parade starts in 7 minutes.....
-
Good morning, all! I slept well, and things bode good for a nice day.
While the Macy's parade is on, I will finally tidy up the apartment and vacuum. I'm well enough now topic up, put away and get this place in sme semblance of order. It's no longer a sick room.
Around 1pm, I'll take a car to Brooklyn to spend the afternoon with my good friend Matthew and others in Prospect Park. I hope to be home no later than 8pm tonight. I think someone driving back into the City is taking care of my trip back.
If there's time between the Macy's parade and departure, I want to listen to the first edits of ROBERTA. Tomorrow, I'll drag out the full score and listen seriously. Today I want to be certain that the painkillers in Dublin didn't cause me to let too many sloppy things get by.
-
And happy holidays to one and all!
-
Rebecca Luker is so much better as the Fairy Godmother than the original! The clip actually made me want to see the show.
-
Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to all. And Happy Hanukkah to some of us!
TOD: My most memorable Thanksgiving was several years ago when I went to be with my sister after her surgery. We weren't sure what the future was going to bring, but I am happy to say that all her tests have come back normal.
-
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
-
So far, we've seen videotaped performances, unless they're performing them live onstage rather than at Herald Square. The FIRST DATE number didn't do a thing for me, but I loved Lady Antebellum!

My damned keyboard and the sticking O key saga: this week I've managed to send out cards from Larry More and wished several others a happy hliday!

TOD:
This is the same story I tell every year, excerpted from MY FORTY-FIVE YEARS IN HOLLYWOOD...AND HOW I ESCAPED ALIVE:
This is my Thanksgiving story, a tale that my family will never let
me forget.
I love Thanksgiving. I have very warm childhood memories of that
holiday. Every year, we would have a family gathering at our home. My
aunt, uncle and two cousins, as well as my half-brother Hersh and his
family were always there.
We’d sit around the table and, after everybody had stuffed themselves,
people would tell jokes. My uncle, Kenneth, was the #1 storyteller,
but on this particular year, I also decided to contribute to the
merriment…with disastrous results.
I think it was 1954. I would have been thirteen-years-old.
Without contemplating the consequences, I told this very funny
joke that I’d heard at school, and I told it very well.
Correction! I didn’t just tell it very well. I told it brilliantly. I had a
captive audience.
Then, I came to the punch line…which ended with the word “f**k”.
My mother, who’d had a few too many drinks in her, started laughing
hysterically. No matter what else you say about her, she was a wonderful
audience.
Unfortunately, everybody else at the table sat in a stunned silence. If
my mother hadn’t been laughing, you could have heard a pin drop.
You see, in 1954, a thirteen-year-old boy did not say
“f**k”...particularly in front of adults.
The first one to speak was my father. Pointing at me, he started
shouting at my mother, “You’re the one who encourages him! This is all
your doing!”
Within two minutes, all of our very embarrassed guests had excused
themselves and left our house.
I don’t recall if I was sent to my room or not, but I know I never
told another joke at Thanksgiving dinner.
-
Happy Thanksgiving!
-
Happy Hanukkah!
-
Love that story, Druxy.

You must be watching a different network than we are. On NBC we saw 3 of the 4 shows we saw in NYC 2 weeks ago.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL
GOBBLE TOV !

That's my favorite Thanksgiving story of all time, Druxy.
It needs to be a scene in a play.

Here's a story on Turkey Lurkey Time that's half fun, half pain. The first half is the pain, because the author is too full of himself.

Happy Chanukah to everyone at HHW!

Nice story DR DRUXY!

I have been told the situation: NBC is showing the stuff live from Herald Square. CBS is presenting numbers on vide from other shows not in the parade.

Right now, on CBS, Lady antebellum is singing "Me and Bobby McGee." Wonderful!

what channel are you watching?
On Channel 4 we had Motown, Matilda, Kinky Boots, Pippin, Sound of Music and The Rockettes all in Herald Square
We did not see Cinderella or First Date

AH! That explains it

It wasn't Lady Antebellum performing; it was the group doing the show about Janis Joplin. They were quite wonderful.

Thanks for that background, FJL. Had no idea who it was. Was kinda surprised that someone who doesn't like dance was asked to write a piece about a dance.
-
Happy Thanksgiving all!
-
good afternoon to all
-
everyone have a great day
-
Had breakfast with Paul. I really needed that to get my day started in the right mood. I really don't feel very good, and the face in the mirror looks very tired. I need to rally and at least try to put on a half way decent face because there will likely be photos taken and I want to at least look human
-
I suppose I should get things packed. It's going to be a long day. I'm sure I"ll have a good time once I get there, it's just the getting there. Paul should be here any time to pick up my house key and get instructions on caring for the cats. I don't know that it's necessary for a whopping 24 hours away from home, but it doesn't hurt for him to knowwhat to do.
-
If anyone has a good video of their pets that they think would be good in the annual talking animals Christmas video, they are accepting submissions. I'm actually considering following my cats around with a camera to see if I can get some footage worth sending
-
Oh great, I forgot to charge my camera.
-
ThnaksgivingTravel and putting up with the family Vibes for Cilla!!
-
Wow! ROBERTA sounds good. I had the completely opposite reaction when I heard the first edit of DEAREST ENEMY, so i'm very frightened.
-
well I better get moving
Happy Thanksgiving one and all and also all and one
-
and Happy Channukah!
-
Thanks Vixmom. Found the camera charger. It should have a decent charge before I leave, so that's good.
-
Happy Thanksgiving!

Some six degrees of BK trivia: (with Monty Python in the news this week)
The Attila the Hun Show theme song on Monty Python
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-x6FBuF4JM
which had been a single by Debbie Reynolds for her TV show
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gV1zmCBhBp8
was written by Tony Romeo of Partridge Family fame.
I wonder why they didn't just use the Debbie Reynolds record on Monty Python.

Happy happy Thanksgiving and Channukah to one and all!
The wifi and computer are still not set up. I fear I shall never ever catch up on all the notes and postings. But today is a day for gratitude, and I truly am blessed. I am thankful for bk and this community of lovely folk.
Later today we will be heading to the in-laws for a feast, and tomorrow we have an invitation to a "left-over" party.
Cheers to every DR! :)

And I am off to Brooklyn. I am running late.

And at the top of the list for the things I am thankful for is the group of individuals that make up Haines His Way. My life has been happier and fuller becasue of all of you! With a special thank you to our very special BK.

The only fun part of that article is Donna's interview. I don't know the author from a hole in the ground, but I agree with JohnG - there's something very off-putting about his writing and his point of view.
-
Thank you TCB - I'm up - was up at nine-thirty.
-
Just had a nice call from Sandy Bainum - I answered that one, but that's it.
-
Really need to jog today and so damn it all I will.
-
Happy Hanukkah from me, too. I have to say that late Thanksgiving and early Hanukkah is completely weird to me.
-
Stephen Moyer = True Blood.
-
I haven't finished watching the Making of the Sound Of Music special. But I really enjoyed what I saw. I love seeing the casting and rehearsal process.
I don't think that Carrie Underwood will be anything like any Maria we are used to. But they are trying to make it a more modern version. And at least she is an amazing singer. I am really looking forward to the show next week.
-
Happy Thanksgiving!
And Happy Chanukah!
-
So two little neighbor girls are helping make cornbread, cheesy potato casserole, and roasted carrots to take to the church for the church feast.
The girls will go to Grandma's tonight for another dinner and Hanukkah.

I think that the broadway numbers are always different on CBS And NBC. NBC always has the ones performed on the stage.
This is the first year that i totally forgot about the parade. Although i'm recording the last 1 hour+ on the West Coast feed.

Oh Slam Dunk, I would never consider you a "left over."
-
We are ready for a party here, so I'm signing off. Have a great day, all!
-
A modern Sound of Music is something I would try to avoid.
-
SO I probably will. I still don't understand the point of the broadcast.
-
Did a two-mile jog which is better than a no mile jog.
-
A modern Sound of Music is something I would try to avoid.
I think she means for a modern audience, like a modern audience can't watch and "get" the original film, which is - wait for it - timeless because it is NOT a modern story taking place in modern times.
-
HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND HAPPY HANNUKAH!!

Thank you, DR Ryacko, and the same to you!
-
Just had a nice call from Sandy Bainum - I answered that one, but that's it.
How long is Sandy going to be in L.A.; and is she doing anymore shows there?
-
Stephen Moyer = True Blood.
Is that a TV show
-
A modern Sound of Music is something I would try to avoid.
Since I am not a big fan of the movie version, I am looking forward to seeing the new version.

Hello, everyone.
Hi, Tom!
-
Hello, everyone.
Hi, Tom!
Hi, Jeanne!
-
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL AT HHW!!
May we all enjoy the feast!
-
Stephen Moyer did a fine job in THE GRAND season 1. Unfortunately, he was replaced in season 2.
-
I slept a much-needed 9 hours, then didn't want to get out of bed. I feel I need a nap--before the meal.
-
The sky here is debating whether or not to rain. I'd like to take a walk before any precip starts.
-
Sending coping vibes (family flavor) to any who need them.
-
And Happy Hannukah, however you wish to spell it.
-
Watching the Macy's Parade today, I decided that I have no interest in ever seeing MATILDA.

-
I feel very laazzzyyy today. It's been a busy fall--my plate has been quite full. I'm ready for some R&R.

Not another ANNIE?
-
Was it trying to be another ANNIE?
-
I'll sign off for now.
Happy feasting, everyone.
-
Stephen Moyer did a fine job in THE GRAND season 1. Unfortunately, he was replaced in season 2.
I was surprised by the Rolf in the new TSOM. He did not look seventeen going on eighteen.
-
Was it trying to be another ANNIE?
I guess so. I have never read the book (or series of books), but I didn't like the songs they did in the parade.
-
Happy Thanksgiving - HHW family!!
-
Happy Hanukkah to those who celebreate
-
Hanging with the DD this afternoon. He seems neglected, which I guess he is a little this week. Heading over to my family's in a bit. Bringing my accordion as my contribution to the dinner. Later this eve, karaoke at a lovely dive gay bar - will be a perfect end to a great day.
-
I realize the new Sandy Bainum CD is still un-listened to. I recently read the track list again, and just began to weep. There are some of my favorite songs there, I guess I need to be in the mood.
-
Hmmm.....I still don't get it.
-
Hmmm.....I still don't get it.
Get what?
-
I have been told the situation: NBC is showing the stuff live from Herald Square. CBS is presenting numbers on vide from other shows not in the parade.
I remember when CBS first started showing the parade. I vaguely remember it being quite the ordeal for CBS to even be able to get the rights to broadcast the parade. This morning, I recorded both broadcasts, but won't be able to watch them until tonight. I also will make my own DVD of the show performances. I've done that for the last several years (unless something went wrong with the DVRing...which has happened). :)
-
A Very Happy Thanksgiving to All!
-
I was watching NBC too and didn't realize CBS would be showing different Broadway performances. I would have loved to have seen Rebecca Luker!
-
And a Very Happy Chanukah to All who Celebrate!
-
And now, I must take a shower, get dressed and go to my parents' house for the day.
Until later!
-
Sandy's in Washington rehearsing for Gypsy.
-
Finished another two Downton Abbey episodes. One thing they're doing right in season four is not letting any story lines get to the point where they become irritating - that happened several times in previous seasons.
-
Just back from the church dinner. Since we are having our family dinner tomorrow, I ate a little bit and then rolled up my sleeves and did the dishes. A couple hours' worth of dishes.
-
And I am home and very tired. Nice dinner, nice day. I'll be in bed very soon.
-
Stephen Moyer = True Blood.
Is that a TV show
Yes.
-
Good
morn- aft- evening, all.
And a wonderful Thanksgiving and Hanukkah to the lot o' yuz!
-
Stephen Moyer did a fine job in THE GRAND season 1. Unfortunately, he was replaced in season 2.
I was surprised by the Rolf in the new TSOM. He did not look seventeen going on eighteen.
I think he said he was senior in college. So that would make him around 21?
-
Had a very nice lunch with friends. Sandy picked up a fried and a smoked turkey, which means I had barbecue today. Go figure.
It was all really good. I especially liked this sauteed vegetable medley with brussels sprouts, fingerling zucchini, cauliflower and baby carrots.
And my cherry cobbler came out better than I had expected. New recipe and not my style of cobbler (this one has dumplings at the center in with all the fruit), but the cherries were sweet and, well, cherry.
-
BestBuy has a 55-inch TV on sale for $500, but it's either sold out or the sale hasn't started yet. I can't buy it now. Bummer.
-
What a day, what a day. I helped prepare a li'l group Thanksgiving dinner -- starting last night -- and twenty-four hours later it has been had, and has wound down. And I don't know if I have ever eaten as much. Certainly not as much stuff rich with butter and cream and sugar and bird and carbs and all manner of that kind of goodness.
-
In other words, I can hardly move.
-
Wow! ROBERTA sounds good. I had the completely opposite reaction when I heard the first edit of DEAREST ENEMY, so i'm very frightened.
Oy! I think you had better send us all our copies right here and now, DR Elmore! It is, after all, best to be safe...

Five!

This was a real treat having the day off from rehearsals. But I do worry about Opening Night after a day off, especially with all the scene changes we have in this show.
-
Everyone must be too full to post.

I'm tired, and I get to do it all over again tomorrow.

Hello, Laura. Happy Thanksgiving!
-
DR Druxy, I just wanted to tell you that I am in love with your Orson Welles play. If I could walk, I would do the show in an instant.
-
Does anyone remember good old Brylcream? Our director wanted Mr. Potter to have a greased-down look. It worked great, but the next day, when I got out of the shower, my hair had turned bright yellow. I felt like Brandon deWilde
-
Today was rather bittersweet. I enjoyed having no plans at all, but it was a little depressing that the phone never rang once.
-
So I'm driving up to my parents' house and my phone rings. A little voice comes over the speakers saying "Hello...hello...hello" I said "Gabe is that you?" he said "Aunt Cill, you should be here already where are you?" So I told him I'd be there in an hour and he said "Will you please sit right next to me at the feast?" Of course I said yes. My heart melted and all the other stuff just melted away. I love that kid!
-
We had a great meal. It was nice to meet Katie, Adam's girlfriend. I really like her. I held Pierson - he's really grown since the last time I saw him. Dash is a cutie pie and into everything. I'm really glad I came

I am glad your day was better than you expected.
-
When I told my brother he needed to get the aquarium out of my car his wife said "WHAT! You already have too many!" And she made me promise never to help him get another aquarium without her knowledge. Seriously he has a bunch of them but can't pass up what he thinks is a bargain.

Thanks TCB, me too
-
We got my dad back on the internet with his laptop. He was very happy about that
-
I spent more time with Gabe tonight. He's such a good kid. And I did sit right next to him at the feast. I love that he calls it a feast, I mean who calls Thanksgiving dinner a feast? I call it a feast now.
-
I took a few photos, but not too many.
-
Cilla, why don't we get this to page 6, so I can go to bed.
-
Yeah I should go to bed too
-
Mom and dad are sleeping
-
I am full!
-
The apple sauce and apple crisp were both a hit
-
Mom made scalloped oysters, one of my favorites
-
I missed the dog show but I recorded it so I'll watch it tomorrow with the cats
-
TCB are you going to help?
-
Oh never mind
-
We're there!!! Page 6

TCB are you going to help?
Damn, woman, you are fast!

-
Time for me to get to bed. Mom and dad get up very early
-
Night everyone.....sleep well
-
Remind me to never run a race with you.
-
Goodnight, Cilla.
-
G'night!
-
Back from a wonderful cozy dinner with Barry Pearl and company. Great food, great conversation and lots o' laughs. I don't think I ate as much as I normally do at these things - just some turkey, some stuffing, a small amount of sweet potato, two rolls, cranberries and green beans. In proportion.
-
Didn't eat a lot at dinner or dessert - I'm cool with that :)
-
Just being lazy after watching my third Downton Abbey episode today. Two more and then I have to wait until the Blu-ray of the season finale Christmas episode comes out - hopefully directly after.
-
We went and saw GRAVITY in 3D and enjoyed it very much. 3D really works for this movie.

I keep saying that I still want to see "Gravity." And maybe this weekend will be when I actually do.

Thanksgiving dinner was in 3D. Really worked.
