Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of an opening night and the birthday boy, and now it is time for you to post until the opening night cows come home.

And the word of the day is: ABIOGENESIS!
-
A Very Happiest 66th Birthday to Our Very Own BK!! :D
-
And Congrats on the Successful Opening Night!!
-
Now, I need to get to sleep. I have to be up so that I can get up to Tacoma in time to see our very own TCB performing in a stage production of "It's a Wonderful Life." I'm sure that he and the show will be fabulous! ;D
-
Happiest of birthdays to BK!!!!

And great to hear about the successful show!

Happy Birthday, Bruce!!! May your route down this 66th year be smooth and spectacular!

Happy Bruce Day!!!
-
Good morning, all.
Another most excellent Happy Birthday to BK on his 66th!
And whoever's standing in front of the cheese slices and ham chunks. get out of my way!
-
I just got to start my morning doing something very special for BK's 66th:
Run Revo Uninstaller, get rid of some adware/malware, and uninstall/reinstall Google Chrome!
Now isn't that just special? :)
-
Happy Birthday, BK!
You're almost as old as me.
:D

Complete strangers wish bk a most happy natal day:

Happy Birthday Bruce!! Have a fun day!
-
And so happy that you and your company had a successful opening night. :) It has been a long road!
-
Off (like a prom dress) to church festivities. This morning I am singing in the choir and playing handbells.
-
Good morning, all! My sleep pattern is still screwed up, so I will be in bed relatively early tonight. My friend Craig and his family got a flight from Dallas to Newark and he's in late this evening. I'll see him tomorrow after my physical therapy. I do not know what time Vinny arrives, but I'm expecting him in the afternoon. I have no idea ifvthe Celtic Tenors are with him, or if they've headed back to Ireland.
http://www.celtic-tenors.com
I will be really glad when this SOM frenzy abates; it's completely ridiculous, whether one liked it or loathed it. One very smug asshole arranger has nearly broken his arm taking swipes at it continuously since the broadcast began at 8:00pm EST. On another rant, I posted that I had listened all day to the ROBERTA edits, and someone posted "can't wait to hear it." Funny, they posted the same about DEAREST ENEMY six months ago, and now that it's released, I wonder if they've waited to hear it.
So, I'm back to my Encores! work this morning. More coffee!
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happiest Birthday Felicitations to Our BK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I read that as "my friend Craig and his family got into a fight".
More coffee!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BK!!!!!
-
Well, the flute choir was supposed to play at a church service where we practice about 30 or so miles from here. I probably could have made it there with no problem as we didn't get as much snow as they said we would, but we're still under a winter weather advisory and a wind chill warning, so I decided not to go. There is a light snow falling and the roads are covered so they may be slick too. It was really a group decision and we started talking about it last night so no one is upset and I've gotten emails or phone calls from everyone saying they agree, so I'm home where it's warm....well sort of warm, but definitely safe.
-
Good morning, all.
I slept in this morning. Maybe I can catch some of the second service on the Internet. It was needed.
-
Happy 66th, BK!
-
DR TCB, Mary Martin's story about Oscar Hammerstein is a crock. THE SOUND OF MUSIC opened on Broadway on Nov. 16, 1959, and Hammerstein died on August 23, 1960, nine months later. The lyric she says he gave her before he died was in the show on opening night.
-
Happiest of Birthdays to you, dear BK! And many more!
-
Happy Sunday Everyone! After a couple of weeks off, there is a brand new edition of The Broadway Radio Show now posted for your pleasure. This time, it's a phone interview with Singer and TV Personality Jane Norman, who will be appearing at NY's 54 Below on December 19th. Jane is probably best known as the creator and star of "PIXANNE" a children's TV show that ran in Philadelphia and New York and then in syndication for 17 years back in the 60's and 70's, but she's also a wonderful vocalist with several CDs to her credit. It was a delightful chat with a very talented lady.....I hope you enjoy!

Happiest of Birthdays to MR BK.
Appropriately on TCM at this moment Miss Judy Garland is singing "I Don't Care" - which I think Mr. Guy Haines should record.
-
DR ELMORE thank you, you are correct "Edelweiss" was the last lyric written by OH II, I don't know where I read the other - I found my R/H book and the story is not in there....so maybe I dreamed it.
-
Here is a nice birthday photo of MR BK reading the first volume of his autobiography in New York City in 2010.

Tonight is the two hour finale of THE AMAZING RACE!
We are expecting icy rain about 4 p.m. this afternoon, so I am not driving down for the board meeting which begins at 4 p.m.

From DR Laura:
No. I figured he has heard that enough that it wouldn't be funny.
;D I'm not sure I could have resisted teasing him.

Thank you DR Matthew.

I'm off to see National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation on the big screen. Not a favorite movie, but I love bits of it, and this will be fun.

DR ELMORE that call was probably for me.....I got an email last week that said someone in Nigeria wanted to put ninety-two million dollars into my bank account.

I like the Celtic Tenors, buti prefer Celtic Thunder.
One more regarding SOM: One guy (or maybe girl) yesterday was mocking the show because the children, who didn't sing, learned the SOM song with harmonies to sing to Frau Schneider in like two days. If they had been paying attention instead of snarking, they would have heard that the Captain would be gone for a month and then return with Elsa and Max. I think they could learn the song in thirty days.
-
I read that as "my friend Craig and his family got into a fight".
More coffee!
Make it a double!
It sounds like he has already had a double.
-
When I got to the theater last night, about 90% of the cast had already seen my rant about the SOM talkathon. They all seemed to agree with it.

Well, I was probably 12 when I saw the Jack Paar program, so I did get a few of the points wrong. But the gist of the story is true.

I think perhaps the stupidest rant I've read on SOM came from a person on castreql that Elmore has taken issue with in the past. He is now writing about how horrible Anne Hathaway would have been in a part that she didn't play because she was lousy in a reading he attended and this despite the fact that the TV production had weeks and weeks of rehearsal. I can't even begin to unravel the logic of that or why it's even being mentioned. It's just somebody wanting something else to complain about.
Enough already.

I'm up, I'm up. I was up at seven, fell back asleep until ten-thirty, and then the garage door people came because the door kept not closing last night. The guy checked everything and again thought it was the sensors - if a cobweb or leaf gets in front of either of the lenses it causes problems I guess. So, if it happens again, I'll try dusting them off first, but it's working fine now.

Bruce wandering into a bar, now that is something I would like to see-lol
-
Having a restful birthday right now, and in about an hour I'll be on my way to the theater and the matinee, then to a birthday meal at Genghis Cohen or maybe even somewhere else.
-
I was very happy to see Keith return from using the snowblower on our entire road, yes the road. He also did parts of here he didn't do yesterday. He said it was too icy to cross the main road to the mailbox but there weren't any tracks which means the mailman couldn't deliver the mail.
-
Darn, he is going back down, just on our driveway, to spread some salt. We hope it works.
It is a good thing we stocked up on food on Friday.
-
Tuesday is my book group and Christmas party. I hate to miss it.
-
Off (like a prom dress) to church festivities. This morning I am singing in the choir and playing handbells.

A phrase hated by the mothers of teenage girls

When I got to the theater last night, about 90% of the cast had already seen my rant about the SOM talkathon. They all seemed to agree with it.
they were probably just scared you'd foreclose their properties and call in their loans if they disagreed with Mr Potter!
whoda thunk that sweet kid with the lightening bolt scar would grow up to be such a mean old man?
-
I fell down again , this time in the social hall at church; just like I did at work a couple of weeks ago: full out fall landing flat on my face.
I was wearing the same shoes I was wearing last time so I think I am retiring that pair of shoes, apparently I am now too old and decrepit to wear three inch heels and next time I may break a hip
My body's all achin' and wracked with pain
-
HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS TO OUR VERY OWN AND MUCH BELOVED BK!!!
-
DR Vixmom, 3" heels to church with all the running around you do there!!!
Vibes you don't hurt tomorrow!
-
DR Elmore, the people who are still being negative about SOM are just jealous.
-
Is anyone planning to watch the new Bonnie and Clyde mini series....well two night event..is that a mini series?
-
Three Inch Heels! OMG I've never been able to wear those. Of course I've never been considered a fashion maven
-
I went back to bed this morning about 9:30 and didn't wake up until 12:30. It felt so good to sleep. I need to go clear the driveway. There isn't much snow, but I really don't want to do it, lol.
-
Is anyone planning to watch the new Bonnie and Clyde mini series....well two night event..is that a mini series?
I'm curious about it. Bonnie and Clyde got as far north as my hometown in Ohio.
-
Where in hell is my friend Vinny?
-
I've been on a binge of cooking out of my old Betty Crocker Cookbook. Today I made meatloaf. Yummy.
-
Is anyone planning to watch the new Bonnie and Clyde mini series....well two night event..is that a mini series?
I just asked Keith and am relieved he isn't interested.

Sorry, DR Elmore, couldn't resist...
-
One of the silicone nose guards fell off of my glasses and the slight tip as been making me slightly nauseated. Last night I had a mild migraine, very mild as two tylenol took care of it.
I would have had it replaced yesterday if only......tomorrow isn't looking hopeful.
-
Well, i know about Vinny now: he's currently in Norwich, Connecticut concat with them. I doubt i will hear from him before 7:00 tonight:

My family has always been interested in Bonnie and Clyde. My parents have been to the house in Joplin where they had the shootout with police and have been to a museum near where Bonnie and Clyde were killed. I've read a number of books about them. And had a life sized poster of Warren Beatty as Clyde in my room when I was growing up. I'm very anxious to see the movie.
-
Just in from frigid...... Oooooklahoma, where the ice storms ground most of the planes. :D
I just escaped... whew! They even had an earthquake yesterday for us. Wasn't that nice?
The main event:
HAP-HAP-HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRUUUUUUCE!!
Wishing you a musical symphony of joy this special day as the beginning of your best year yet!!
Also, Congrats on the Big Opening. I'm very happy to hear it went well.
Okay, kids, I need a friggin' nap.... :P

For DR Jennifer and DR Mike, a little home-grown holiday cheer!

Oy, they didn't even pronounce "canuck" correctly!

And Vincent Lynch is in the City, on 32nd street to be exact. He will meet me here around 6:30 for dinner in the area. It must have been a shot concert. I know nothing about the Celtic Tenors, but I am looking forward to seeing Vinny. He's a fantastic pianist.

Well it is Sunday. I'm guessing you can't have mail service on Sundays right?
-
Looking forward to the TAR finale tonight. Hopefully there is no football on CBS. Although I forget if the Canadian channel would be allowed to show the finale on time anyways. I know for Survivor they are not allowed.

Feel better vibes for DR Vixmom!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Oh my DR VIXMOM.....yes losing one of those nose pieces off your glasses can cause headaches and pain....
Feel better.....and yes those shoes need to be retired.
-
I am interested in Bonnie and Clyde, but I am not much interested in BONNIE & CLYDE ... from the promos and interviews I have seen.....it seems like like a "modernized" version of the story with even less regard for accuracy than Beatty's version - which I like.
-
Listening to the broadcast of the St. Olaf Christmas Festival on public radio...
-
Driving the DH to the airport tomorrow morning - he has a week-long conference in San Diego, poor devil. I am trying not to be jealous.

I am fondly recalling December 8, 2007 - the day bk turned 60.

I won't be watching it, but I am interested in them. Interviewed a butcher and barbecuer the other day who swore B&C stopped to rest at a fishing hole that he was fishing at the time. They chatted and seemed nice and left the man alone, to his great relief. He did recognize them.

Amen!

Up from a much-needed nap after going to a cookie exchange this afternoon. I have a swell-looking basket of cookies in th ecar and hope the folks at work can relieve me of a few of them.

I'm not sure which the kitty is more terrified about: the rocking chair, the wallpaper, or Santa's "spats."
-
OMG that's what I get for reading too many posts before posting responses.....
Sorry DR JANE and DR VIXMOM.....
-
Only about 30 minutes until The Amazing Race Finale!
-
I may have to go to the chiropractor tomorrow I am really in pain -
-
Oh man, sorry Vixmom. Go to the chiro tomorrow. The sooner the better. You'll recover more quickly
-
Pickers has an episode right before Bonnie and Clyde on the History Channel that includes some Bonnie and Clyde stuff. They went searching for Bonnie and Clyde stuff

I may have to go to the chiropractor tomorrow I am really in pain -
I'm sorry. You you have something you can take to relax your muscles?
-
Using the computer is bothering me. I'll pop back in later.
-
Hello, everyone.
I just returned from the Anthony Newley & Leslie Bricusse show, PURE IMAGINATION. Very nicely done. Several great arrangements, some clever staging and great use of a small stage. Very well done all around.
-
I wished BK a happy birthday and gave him a little birthday prezzie.
-
My friend and hairdresser, Richard, joined me and was quite impressed.
Richard used to work for the studios many moons ago. He was a big fan of Lana Turner's and when it came time to do her hair he was quite nervous. At one point she turned to him and said, "Honey, it's just hair."
-
Belated birthday wishes to DR Jane. Hope you had a great one!
-
Ouch, Vixmom! So sorry to hear of your fall. Yes, see a chiropractor tomorrow. You'll likely heal faster.
As for the heels, I haven't worn anything higher than a 1" heel since college. Heels and I just don't get along. I don't know how women are wearing the platform heels that are in fashion now. Not for me!
-
LA has been unusually cold. I never have the heat on this much. But, compared to the rest of the country, we have it easy. Vibes to all of you in cold weather.
-
TTFN.
-
Belated birthday wishes to DR Jane. Hope you had a great one!
Thank you. It was very nice.
-
Such a hassle.... We changed our book discussion to the home of a woman who broke her foot so she wouldn't miss the fun (others are doing the work). Now many of us can't go anywhere so I have to try and change it. The woman who we moved the meeting for can only change it to Wednesday or Friday.
Who knows when anyone else can be there.
I could use some major sun vibes to melt the ice tomorrow.
-
I may have to go to the chiropractor tomorrow I am really in pain -
I'm sorry. You you have something you can take to relax your muscles?
hmmm, good idea, let me go check the liquor cabinet
-
That will work, seriously unless you have taken some pain meds.
-
The schools are closed tomorrow.
Only the Mt. Ashland ski area is happy, they really needed this snow and now have a good 19" base.
-
And i am home from dinner with Vincent Lynch, pianist extraordinaire. We went around the corner to a new place, The Social Club. Vinny had black bean soup for starters, spareribs, and pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. I had steamed mussels and clams, salmon, and apple pie, I had my first wine and ice cream with the pie for the first time in five months. Very delicious! Vinny's off to see the Rockefeller Center tree, and I am off to bed.

My friend and hairdresser, Richard, joined me and was quite impressed.
Richard used to work for the studios many moons ago. He was a big fan of Lana Turner's and when it came time to do her hair he was quite nervous. At one point she turned to him and said, "Honey, it's just hair."
I love that story.

Yeah, me, too.

Went to a Chinese restaurant known for its authentic dishes and had a huge pot of noodles, both rice and lo mein, that you got to cook yourself, along with fish, lamb and beef. Really a lot of fun.

But was there barbecue?

Sadly, no. :)

Watching Killer Joe. This is one creepy movie. Tracy Letts writes great dialogue.
-
Good evening. Today we saw a local production of "White Christmas." What can be better than a couple of hours listening to Irving Berlin music?
-
I hope you feel better tomorrow, Vixmom.
-
When I got to the theater last night, about 90% of the cast had already seen my rant about the SOM talkathon. They all seemed to agree with it.
they were probably just scared you'd foreclose their properties and call in their loans if they disagreed with Mr Potter!
whoda thunk that sweet kid with the lightening bolt scar would grow up to be such a mean old man?
Hmmm, possibly.
-
Now, I need to get to sleep. I have to be up so that I can get up to Tacoma in time to see our very own TCB performing in a stage production of "It's a Wonderful Life." I'm sure that he and the show will be fabulous! ;D
Don't forget your camera, DR George!
Crap! I didn't bring it. :( I did see Tom for a short while after the show, but he was surrounded by several friends, so I only got to give him hug and tell him how great he was (and he was!) and then leave.
-
I also got to chat with my friends Paul (he played General Mills in The Brain that I was in) and Chris, who is the Managing Artistic Director of Tacoma Little Theatre.
-
Back from all manner of things. First of all, the matinee was really great - we were told yesterday there were no seats available so a few people who wanted to come couldn't. And yet, we only had half a house. I'll be writing a little note about this so it doesn't happen again. But if you have to have half a house this is the kind to have - really vocal crowd, lots o' laughs and huge applause - it was really fun and the cast all did a great job. Happy to see dear reader Jeanne, too!
-
Directly after the show, Sami, her mom and I went to Genghis Cohen for my birthday dinner - so good - the usual things - orange chicken extra crispy, Kung Pao chicken, Crackerjack Shrimp, and green beans. It was all quite brilliant.
-
Then I went to Doug Haverty's annual holiday Do and had some fun there, and then I got abducted by a family, who took me to the Coral Cafe, where I had some chocolate cream pie - excellent. And now I'm home.

Very little. Sounds like fun. I think a theater is doing that in a week or so. Looking forward to seeing it.
-
Finished Killer Joe and have started on Mud, another Matthew McConn(ah you finish the spelling) movie. Don't know how that happened.
-
But I am off for bed. Good night, all.

I always thought this was the real Canadian 12 days of Christmas

George, I am so sorry that I didn't get to spend more time with you. My sister brought two friends (she doesn't see a lot of my shows) and my friend, Marsha, flew in from Vegas just to see the show. She arrived with two other women that I have known since grade school; so I was blindsided. My apologies, George. I really would like to have heard what you thought of the show.

Did it snow on the audience during the finale?

It's no problem at all, Tom! I figured that they had priority.

Feel better vibes to DR Vixmom and DR Jane!
-
I am fondly recalling December 8, 2007 - the day bk turned 60.
That day was an all-day party here at HHW. We DRs managed to generate 65 pages of posts.
and DR Edisaurus collected birthday wishes from all of us by telephone and made a cd for BK!!
I still have the .mp4 file that Edisaurus created!

I may have to go to the chiropractor tomorrow I am really in pain -
Ouch, Vixmom!
Not for me!
Good think you're not Lady Gaga! ;)

I worry more now about people enjoying a show in which I am appearing. In this day and age it is taking a larger chunk of your budget for entertainment. Whether you go out for a nice dinner, go to a movie, or attend either a community or professional production it is expensive. So I worry that we are giving them their money's worth.

Very Happy Birthday bk!!
Good morning, Doug! What time is it there?
-
George, do you know Kris Garrett? Or her daughter?
I never really knew her daughter, but Kris used to work at Capital Playhouse. I used to usher there a lot.
-
Tell her that I said hi!
-
Tell her that I said hi!
I will. I am sure she would have come out front if she knew you were there.
-
Thanks to all for the beautiful birthday wishes.
-
Speaking of birthday wishes, the one thing that Facebook got right is birthdays. An amazing outpouring of over 530 birthday wishes.
-
Only fifty-seven pages to go.
-
I gotta tell you.

Wow! Well deserved, BK!

Only fifty-seven pages to go.
I figured I would let George take the next 50, and then he can call me and I will do the last seven.
-
Nope...I can't post 50 pages of posts. Sorry.
;)
