Good morning, all! My sleep pattern is still screwed up, so I will be in bed relatively early tonight.  My friend Craig and his family got a flight from Dallas to Newark and he's in late this evening.  I'll see him tomorrow after my physical therapy. I do not know what time Vinny arrives, but I'm expecting him in the afternoon. I have no idea ifvthe Celtic Tenors are with him, or if they've headed back to Ireland.
http://www.celtic-tenors.com

I will be really glad when this SOM frenzy abates; it's completely ridiculous, whether one liked it or loathed it. One very smug asshole arranger has nearly broken his arm taking swipes at it continuously since the broadcast began at 8:00pm EST.  On another rant, I posted that I had listened all day to the ROBERTA edits, and someone posted "can't wait to hear it." Funny, they posted the same about DEAREST ENEMY six months ago, and now that it's released, I wonder if they've waited to hear it.

So, I'm back to my Encores! work this morning. More coffee!

Well, the flute choir was supposed to play at a church service where we practice about 30 or so miles from here.  I probably could have made it there with no problem as we didn't get as much snow as they said we would, but we're still under a winter weather advisory and a wind chill warning, so I decided not to go. There is a light snow falling and the roads are covered so they may be slick too.   It was really a group decision and we started talking about it last night so no one is upset and I've gotten emails or phone calls from everyone saying they agree, so I'm home where it's warm....well sort of warm, but definitely safe.

DR TCB, Mary Martin's story about Oscar Hammerstein is a crock. THE SOUND OF MUSIC opened on Broadway on Nov. 16, 1959, and Hammerstein died on August 23, 1960, nine months later. The lyric she says he gave her before he died was in the show on opening night.

Happy Sunday Everyone!  After a couple of weeks off, there is a brand new edition of The Broadway Radio Show now posted for your pleasure.  This time, it's a phone interview with Singer and TV Personality Jane Norman, who will be appearing at NY's 54 Below on December 19th.  Jane is probably best known as the creator and star of "PIXANNE" a children's TV show that ran in Philadelphia and New York and then in syndication for 17 years back in the 60's and 70's, but she's also a wonderful vocalist with several CDs to her credit.  It was a delightful chat with a very talented lady.....I hope you enjoy!

Appropriately on TCM at this moment Miss Judy Garland is singing "I Don't Care" - which I think Mr. Guy Haines should record.

I like the Celtic Tenors, buti prefer Celtic Thunder.

One more regarding SOM:  One guy (or maybe girl) yesterday was mocking the show because the children, who didn't sing, learned the SOM song with harmonies to sing to Frau Schneider in like two days.  If they had been paying attention  instead of snarking, they would have heard that the Captain would be gone for a month and then return with Elsa and Max.  I think they could learn the song in thirty days.

I think perhaps the stupidest rant I've read on SOM came from a person on castreql that Elmore has taken issue with in the past. He is now writing about how horrible Anne Hathaway would have been in a part that she didn't play because she was lousy in a reading he attended and this despite the fact that the TV production had weeks and weeks of rehearsal. I can't even begin to unravel the logic of that or why it's even being mentioned. It's just somebody wanting something else to complain about.

Enough already.

I'm up, I'm up.  I was up at seven, fell back asleep until ten-thirty, and then the garage door people came because the door kept not closing last night.  The guy checked everything and again thought it was the sensors - if a cobweb or leaf gets in front of either of the lenses it causes problems I guess.  So, if it happens again, I'll try dusting them off first, but it's working fine now.

I fell down again , this time in the social hall at church;  just like I did at work a couple of weeks ago:  full out fall landing flat on my face.

I was wearing the same shoes I was wearing last time so I think I am retiring that pair of shoes,  apparently I am now  too old and decrepit to wear three inch heels and next time I may break a hip

I'm curious about it. Bonnie and Clyde got as far north as  my hometown in Ohio.

And we're still here!

Sorry, DR Elmore, couldn't resist...

One of the silicone nose guards fell off of my glasses and the slight tip as been making me slightly nauseated.  Last night I had a mild migraine, very mild as two tylenol took care of it.

I would have had it replaced yesterday if only......tomorrow isn't looking hopeful.

My family has always been interested in Bonnie and Clyde.  My parents have been to the house in Joplin where they had the shootout with police and have been to a museum near where Bonnie and Clyde were killed. I've read a number of books about them. And had a life sized poster of Warren Beatty as Clyde in my room when I was growing up.  I'm very anxious to see the movie.

I was very happy to see Keith return from using the snowblower on our entire road, yes the road.  He also did parts of here he didn't do yesterday.  He said it was too icy to cross the main road to the mailbox but there weren't any tracks which means the mailman couldn't deliver the mail.

Well it is Sunday. I'm guessing you can't have mail service on Sundays right?

I am interested in Bonnie and Clyde, but I am not much interested in BONNIE & CLYDE ... from the promos and interviews I have seen.....it seems like like a "modernized" version of the story with even less regard for accuracy than Beatty's version - which I like.

Such a hassle.... We changed our book discussion to the home of a woman who broke her foot so she wouldn't miss the fun (others are doing the work).  Now many of us can't go anywhere so I have to try and change it.  The woman who we moved the meeting for can only change it to Wednesday or Friday.
Who knows when anyone else can be there.

Vinny had black bean soup for starters, spareribs, and pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. I had steamed mussels and clams, salmon, and apple pie, I had my first wine and ice cream with the pie for the first time in five months. Very delicious! Vinny's off to see the Rockefeller Center tree, and I am off to bed.

When I got to the theater last night, about  90% of the cast had already seen my rant about the SOM talkathon.  They all seemed to agree with it.

they were probably just scared you'd foreclose their properties and  call in their loans if they disagreed with Mr Potter!

Don't forget your camera, DR George!

Crap!  I didn't bring it. :( I did see Tom for a short while after the show, but he was surrounded by several friends, so I only got to give him hug and tell him how great he was (and he was!) and then leave.

Back from all manner of things.  First of all, the matinee was really great - we were told yesterday there were no seats available so a few people who wanted to come couldn't.  And yet, we only had half a house.  I'll be writing a little note about this so it doesn't happen again.  But if you have to have half a house this is the kind to have - really vocal crowd, lots o' laughs and huge applause - it was really fun and the cast all did a great job.  Happy to see dear reader Jeanne, too!

Now, I need to get to sleep.  I have to be up so that I can get up to Tacoma in time to see our very own TCB performing in a stage production of "It's a Wonderful Life."  I'm sure that he and the show will be fabulous! ;D

Don't forget your camera, DR George!

Crap!  I didn't bring it. :( I did see Tom for a short while after the show, but he was surrounded by several friends, so I only got to give him hug and tell him how great he was (and he was!) and then leave.

George, I am so sorry that I didn't get to spend more time with you.  My sister brought two friends (she doesn't see a lot of my shows) and my friend, Marsha, flew in from Vegas just to see the show.  She arrived with two other women that I have known since grade school; so I was blindsided.  My apologies, George.  I really would like to have heard what you thought of the show.

Good evening. Today we saw a local production of "White Christmas." What can be better than a couple of hours listening to Irving Berlin music?

Did it snow on the audience during the finale?

It's no problem at all, Tom!  I figured that they had priority.

I am fondly recalling December 8, 2007 - the day bk turned 60.

That day was an all-day party here at HHW. We DRs managed to generate 65 pages of posts.

and DR Edisaurus collected birthday wishes from all of us by telephone and made a cd for BK!!

I still have the .mp4 file that Edisaurus created!

I may have to go to the chiropractor tomorrow I am really  in pain -

Ouch, Vixmom! So sorry to hear of your fall. Yes, see a chiropractor tomorrow. You'll likely heal faster.

As for the heels, I haven't worn anything higher than a 1" heel since college. Heels and I just don't get along.  I don't know how women are wearing the platform heels that are in fashion now. Not for me!

Good think you're not Lady Gaga! ;)

I worry more now about people enjoying a show in which I am appearing.  In this day and age it is taking a larger chunk of your budget for entertainment.  Whether you go out for a nice dinner, go to a movie, or attend either a community or professional production it is expensive.  So I worry that we are giving them their money's worth.

I never really knew her daughter, but Kris used to work at Capital Playhouse.  I used to usher there a lot.

I figured I would let George take the next 50, and then he can call me and I will do the last seven.
