Well, you've read the notes, the notes won awards, and now it is time for you to post until the award-winning cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: JOCUND!
-
And a very happy haineshisway.com to former dear reader Julie, who hasn't posted here in a 'coon's age.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to (former?) DR Julie!
-
good morning to all
-
Happy Birthday DR JULIE.
Today is a work day....oh well.

I enjoy the BIG awards shows....The Academy Awards, The Emmy Awards, and the Tony Awards.
I am always irritated by the ersatz awards such as The American Music Awards, The Country Music Awards - awards that were created basically so that someone could have a television show....
The Grammy Awards are strange, too, in that they always change the categories around and add stuff that is of the moment and will be forgotten in a year or two.....although sometimes the categories hang on.....
-
I'll start a rant on award shows.
The American Music Awards was created by ABC because CBS has the Grammy Awards.
People Choices awards where the winner knows they won ahead of time and you knew who the "winner" was because the other nominees in the category were never in the audience or if they weren't there the filmed their acceptance ahead of time.
The Golden Globe Awards have 90 members who vote for all the awards and usually honor the person who gave the best interview or who was the friendliest. The best film or tv show is usually won by which producers served the best champagne and caviar at the dinner party where the filmed was shown. Come on now Pia Zadora was the best new actress the year she won? After that fiasco the Globes discontinued that award and was off network tv for many years.
MTV awards has become a parody unto itself.
At one time The Tony Awards where a great show before they went to Radio City Music Hall. I blame Rosie O'Donnel for that one. Remember the year where they paid tribute to Sondheim, Kander and Ebb and Herman all in one year? Or when the show was at the Majestic theater they paid tribute to all the musicals that played at the theater. The three hour (or so) show has almost 60 minutes worth of commercials!
I could go on
..
-
I like the title of the Sherman-Kimmel song.

-
Good morning, all! I was in bed by 9:15 and stayed there until 8:00 this morning. It was cold, I was tired, and I slept rathe well. I did have lots of bizarre dreams, the last being a very long one about working in Barnes & Noble, driving to Dayton OH for an interview to sell toilets and plumbing fixtures - really! - and getting back to B&N and replacing light bulbs during the Christmas rush. While I remember no others, I do recall on my walk to the bathroom around 4am, what a weir dream! So, I guess the others were equally strange.
I will shortly head to the laundromat: I need to wash a comforter that is dusty and in need of a cleaning. While that's washing, I will take four packages to the post office and send them out, return, put the comforter into the dryer, and return home. At least, that's the current plan.
Excelsior!
More coffee!
-
Good morning, all.
Two (2) bizarre dreams here -- one in the middle of the night from which I woke and stayed awake for a few minutes (so I know that's when it was), the other this morning before I got up at around 8:00 -- both of them concerning me being among a bunch of people gathered for some event like a wedding for which we needed to get into our tuxes and other formal wear and observe certain formalities or rituals throughout the day......
Just bizarre.
I did have to wear my tux for those Christmas concerts two weeks ago, but that's nothing unusual. This was more like a foreshadowing of something coming up, and I swear to God there's nothing coming up. Oy!
Coffee! (Starbucks Breakfast Blend)
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
But DR Elmore's dream is much more bizarre, so he wins the Hainsie.
-
Happy birthday to Julie!
-
Good morning.
-
That is quite a list, DR Mike.
-
(http://i1282.photobucket.com/albums/a532/singdaw1/julie1_zpse8cc0427.jpg)
-
We are expecting a wind chill of 35 to 40 below zero by tomorrow morning.
-
Good Morning! You are up early Laura!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
DR Ben wins a Hainsie for consistency. :)
-
BK congratulations on all those Hainsie awards - I wonder what they look like :)
-
Tom, yes Vixdad was laughing over some of the accents - I told him he should give them credit for even trying especially the children he was quite impressed with your performance however!
-
I hpe tio wiin a Hainsie for besst tpyist
-
Elmore I forgot to offer my congratulations on the "Holler" news - VIBES it comes to fruition and it's close enough for me to see!
-
;D
-
Re: the PBS showing of American Masters new biography of Marvin Hamlisch
For those who want to see it check your tv guides. Because I notice it will be on here during the week.
-
I am going to record the Kennedy Center Honors tomorrow night.
-
Speaking of close enough to see my Christmas prezzie from Vixdad was two Broadway theatre tickets
for Twelfth Night and Richard III http://ppc.broadway.com/shows/twelfth-night-broadway (http://ppc.broadway.com/shows/twelfth-night-broadway)
One at the matinee and the other the evening performance and both seats are onstage
I am very excited!
-
The only award shows that I watch are the Oscars, The Tony's and the Kennedy Center Awards
-
and my bro and sister in law also got me two tickets to Twelfth night (for the following week)
Those are in the balcony however
-
TOD:
I watch the Oscars, the Emmys and the Tonys.
Also, the SAG Awards and, because they are fun, The Golden Globes.
The rest are meaningless to me.
-
Received my CDs from Kritzerland yesterday, JOHN WAYNE AT FOX (former/late client Hugo Montenegro did one of the scores) and SABRINA (I love the song "Sentimental Moments" from WE'RE NO ANGELS.)
-
We watched Lee Daniels' THE BUTLER last night and enjoyed it. However, I do think the script lost its way from time-to-time.
-
so I will get to see the show from two completely different perspectives

That is fantastic! What a great gift.
I am home from the post office. It's too chilly to deal with laundry this morning. It's supposed to be a high of 51 today, but I'm seriously doubting it. Looks like Monday after physical therapy will be the laundry date for the bedding.

Maybe there's an awards show coming up, and you're supposed to be a presenter.

And the word of the day is: JOCUND!
And the word of the day is: JOCUND!
And The Song Of The Day Is: WHEN OUR HEARTS WERE YOUNG AND GAY
-
Saturday morning greetings! Today is a big college football day for our family - Cincinnati in the Belk Bowl this afternoon and Michigan in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl tonight. Rob and Mary Linda are coming for the afternoon game and we'll either order dinner in or go out when it's over.
Go, Bearcats!
-
Because the Michigan game doesn't even start here until 10:15pm, I have already told Fr. Richard that I'm not going to Lima tomorrow. I will stay home and get the desserts ready to take to a Palmer family gathering tomorrow evening at DN Lauren's home.
Go, Blue!
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR Julie - we miss you!
-
DR Vixmom, you will love, love, love TWELFTH NIGHT! Just don't have a nosebleed in the Belasco lobby...
-
I like the storage under the staircase better than just the steps, more storage and easier to reach.
-
Because the Michigan game doesn't even start here until 10:15pm, I have already told Fr. Richard that I'm not going to Lima tomorrow.
I'm sure he expected as much :)

I will be able to hear the fireworks when anyone scores from my house.
-
I understand there are tickets available, Ginny. I can pick you up at the airport!
-
I'm up, I'm up, she of the Evil Eye is here and I'll go do a jog. Oh, and I'm screaming, because I did see yet another "reviewer" on the Internet giving best of accolades - this one also being a producer of shows at a community theater - and the actors act like they just got the Oscar and thank them profusely, as if it means a damn thing.
-
Oy! I'm in complete agreement about most awards and best-of nonsense being a waste of human thought and effort. But I rather hope that was a silent scream, for the sake of Annette's daughter and perhaps others.
-
Which brings us to the TOD, for which I shall crib off of DR Druxy's answer. I haven't caught the SAG Awards, maybe I should, but for me, these are the must-sees, if only for the spectacle and whatever entertainment value derives therefrom...
TOD:
I watch the Oscars, the Emmys and the Tonys.
Also, the SAG Awards and, because they are fun, The Golden Globes.
The rest are meaningless to me.
-
Good afternoon!
-
I went to see my brother and sister-in-law yesterday and exchanged gifts.
-
TOD: The Academy Awards, The Emmys, The Tonys, Golden Globes. Sometimes I watch the SAG awards.
-
I think I had a strange dream last night too, but can't remember the details.
-
I understand there are tickets available, Ginny. I can pick you up at the airport!
Tempting, DR Laura!
-
so I will get to see the show from two completely different perspectives
Great presents. Did they each know that the other one had gotten you tickets?
-
TOD:
I watch the Oscars, the Emmys and the Tonys.
Also, the SAG Awards and, because they are fun, The Golden Globes.
I think these are the ones I watch as well. Although I don't always get to see the SAGs. Depends on if they show them here (which i think they have the last couple of years).
-
Larry, I forgot to add my congrats on the possible Holler reading. I hope it happens so we can trek on over to York and see and hear your music! It will be an excuse for an HHW get together.
-
Well, they can't say we didn't get to page 3
-
Larry, I forgot to add my congrats on the possible Holler reading. I hope it happens so we can trek on over to York and see and hear your music! It will be an excuse for an HHW get together.
I agree that any excuse for an HHW gathering is good!
If it's like the usual York readings, it will be in the late afternoon around 3:00. Then we could all head for a nice restaurant and par-tay! I'll be ready for a drink!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Anyone interested in the Marvin Hamlisch program can view it at PBS.org. I don't know how long it'll be there, but I'd guess a couple weeks at least. I tend to forget about the PBS website, but their most popular shows are available there--free.
-
I like the idea of Hainsie awards. Yes, Vixmom for most creative typing. Elmore for most interesting dreams. Singdaw for best assortment of photos from the web. Laura for best nature photos.
-
Jane, have you tried Sambucol for colds? It's for flu, too. My acupuncturist swears by it, says it kept her healthy last winter when she saw so many patients who were sick. I like it, too--no side effects. Easy to take, it dissolves in your mouth.
Hope you're feeling better.
Good-health vibes to all!
-
I, too, would like to see CHRISTMAS UP THE HOLLER.
-
TTFN.
-

We're thinking of heading to NYC after our nephew's wedding in Philadelphia, so could you schedule it for the first week of April, please :-*
-
DR Vixmom, you will love, love, love TWELFTH NIGHT! Just don't have a nosebleed in the Belasco lobby...
I should be fine, unlike you I decline to get into fisticuffs and brawls in theatre lobbies
:D
-
I do all my brawling in bar rooms
-

no - we exchange with the rest of the family on Christmas Eve and then the Vixfamily exchange gifts on Christmas morning -- Vixdada was quite anxious to know the date of the tickets and seemed much happier when I told the date the next morning I knew why!
-

No dates mentioned. It's a possible reading in 2014!
-
I hope your possible reading turns into a definite reading!
-
Good evening! We had a high temp of 62 three hours later it 37 degrees with 41 mph winds. We all knew it was coming so today people were buzzing around like crazy, washing cars going to parks doing everything they could outside. I checked my tire pressure, vacuumed out the car and ran errands.
-
Before that, I reclaimed the counters in my kitchen and the dining room table from the sprawling clutter that had taken over.
-
I slept for 10 hours last night which was wonderful But, I had a really disturbing dream about staying at a hotel and a gunman came into the lobby/restaurant and started shooting people. I was in my room and didn't see it, but heard it. There was a police man outside my door and told me to leave the building, so I did. I went back later to get the cats (don't know why they were staying at the hotel with me) and they had already cleaned up and Guillermo from Jimmy Kimmel was polishing the floor with a Zamboni. I couldn't find Boo in my dream, but was very glad to see her when I woke up.
-
TOD: I watch the Tonys, the Golden Globes and the Oscars, that's about it. If I'm bored and there's a show on, I may watch, but usually not.
I really don't take any of the shows seriously. I don't think they really decide what is best, but I have seen a lot of movies that I wouldn't have known about if it wasn't for the nomination. And some of the smaller films or indie films that get nominations probably wouldn't have been in the theater here without the nomination.
-
I hope your possible reading turns into a definite reading!
Me, too!
-
Back home from a lot of stuff. Had a lovely afternoon with the Darling Daughter, picking up a package, eating at The Smoke House and other stuff, and she chose here Christmas gift, and we went and bought it. She's VERY happy

I just happened to have my Kindle hooked up to my computer and I "bought" it (free is always good)! I don't know when I'll get to it, but I have it. Thanks, Jennifer.
-
I've been home, just watching TV and burning DVDs and eating...basically doing nothing before I have to get ready to usher tonight for Harlequin Productions' The Stardust Christmas Blizzard (http://www.harlequinproductions.org/season/2014/stardust_christmas_blizzard.php). It's supposed to be pretty good.
-
Page 3. Really?
-
One more.
-
Page 4, really?
-
Tom, Christian Doyle is in "The Stardust Christmas Blizzard."
-
Topic of the Day:
Most anticipated: The Tony Awards...of course! Otherwise, I usually watch and (or record for other people) The Academy Awards, The Golden Globes and The Emmy Awards. I don't usually watch any other awards shows.
-
The Michigan game doesn't start until after 10:00 p.m EST?
-
The Michigan game doesn't start until after 10:00 p.m EST?
Yep - that's why I'm not going to Lima tomorrow! However, if Michigan plays like Cincinnati did, I'll go to bed at halftime...
-
Well, it's time for me to leave and usher for a show.
Be back later!
-
Page four? Really?
-
Finished the Hamlisch documentary, which was good. Not sure what I feel like watching and/or doing now.
-
Larry, I forgot to add my congrats on the possible Holler reading. I hope it happens so we can trek on over to York and see and hear your music! It will be an excuse for an HHW get together.

I want to start the new year with the house cleaner that it is now. I don't try for perfection, just better than it is

Am back from a trip to El Paso. Boy, is that drive long. I put more than 1400 miles on the rental car in the past two days.
-
One of the two books on CD I listened to was James Garner's autobiography. Becuase of the mentions of "Victor/Victoria" in it, I decided to watch "First a Girl" with Jessie Matthews, which was one of the bases for the Julie Andrews version.
-
we just watched Gaslight and now we are watching Suspicion
-
Interesting that Garner says he was originally interested in playing the role of Toddy, which Robert Preston played.
-
And the fireworks begin...
now now, Cilla and I were just having a discussion!

I did not realize he had an autobiography - I always liked him ever since I was a girl and I saw his movies Support Your Local Gunfighter and Support Your Local Sheriff and then he had a TV series Nichols which i also loved

That was just when each team ran onto the field - no score yet...

My Birding Buddy is a Go Blue fan.

If anyone who has a kindle wants to try a book in the New Adult genre. This is one of my new favorite authors.

I just happened to have my Kindle hooked up to my computer and I "bought" it (free is always good)! I don't know when I'll get to it, but I have it. Thanks, Jennifer.
I don't know if it will be your kind of book. But it was one of my favorite reads of 2013.

Well, it was only a field goal, after all...

Best wishes, Larry, on the reading.

I wonder if BK will tell us what he gifted his DD with
-
with what he gifted his daughter?
-
I use know how to write a grammatically correct sentence
-
Have decided that my favorite movie of the year is Despicable Me 2
-
We loved Gravity and Despicable Me 2 although it was not as good as the first, but then, sequels seldom are
-
We have not yet seen the Hobbit but we are looking forward to it
-
Here's what you can take to the bank - if I dislike a film, Druxy will think it's fine - he's two for two today - The Butler, for me one of the worst of the year, along with the reprehensible piece of arty dreck called Prisoners. :)
-
The daughter got a new iPad.
-
Loving the Hamlisch documentary.
-
The daughter got a new iPad.
nice!!

BK I wonder if seeing a film in a theatre as a opposed to at home changes your experience of the film
for instance Vixdad and I loved Gravity which we saw in 3D IMAX - I wonder if it would have had the same impact on us had we seen it on our living room TV
-
gosh it os after 12 I need to get up on time I was late to church twice in a row and I shoudlbe there by 8 AM so nighty night
-
I'm sure Gravity was impressive in the theaters - I don't believe it was actually shot in 3-D, though - I think it was converted in post production. But for me the bottom line is the story and presentation, and I found the story not that original although the presentation was excellent even watching at home.
I saw a 4K 65-inch TV today - they have 4K demo stuff playing and it's stunning - you can walk right up to the set and stand nose to nose with it and not lose any quality or definition - I've never seen that before. Colors are stunning, but one wonders how much better Blu-rays can look unconverted on this TV - color will probably be more accurate, of course, but since there is very little actual 4K product, it's probably too soon to even think about investing in something like this.
-
I need to get to bed but I'll at least help get us to page 6
-
I can't think of anything to say
-
The news said we had a 63 mph wind gust tonight.
-
If it was snowing this would be one heck of a blizzard
-
But it isn't snowing so we aren't having a blizzard
-
I am planning to be home all day tomorrow
-
I think the wind is bothering Callie and Rick, they are sticking really close to me tonight
-
This should do it
-
Page 6, my work is done

Where in tarnation IS everyone?

I'm back from seeing "A Stardust Christmas Blizzard." I ended up working concessions because a couple of volunteers backed out at the last minute. It wasn't too bad, except that all their prices are different than at the Washington Center. That was the hardest part...just keeping track of their prices, and not what I'm used to. There was a steady flow, but we got everyone served.
-
The show itself was pretty good. It's simply about a bunch of people who work at the fictitious Stardust Club in Greenwich Village in 1957. They're stuck at the club in a blizzard (hence the title) on Christmas eve. They entertain themselves, they discover (and reveal) hidden feelings for each other and a good time was had by all.
