Well, you've read the notes, the notes were amazing and colossal and bashed the Oscars, and now it is time for you to post until the award-winning cows come home.

We have our new Daisy Mae - the very talented Maddy Claire Parks - she's done one of our Kritzerland shows, and starred in Oklahoma at Musical Theater West, and she's Betty Garrett's granddaughter, so comes from very good stock.  Beautiful legit voice and beautiful inside and out.  Very happy to have her.

It's interesting...the link that DakotaCelt posted last night (the last post of the evening) was about Lupita Nyong’o's dress:

However, if you scroll down a bit, you get to this article:  Surprise! Ellen DeGeneres is the Best Oscars Host in a Decade (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/03/03/ellen-degeneres-delivers-the-best-oscars-hosting-stint-in-a-decade.html).

Good morning, all! I missed the Oscars nd i slept very well. I did have one doozy of a dream, something about a Los Angeles recording studio, the jerk who runs a foundation I once worked with, difficulties getting a ride to a meeting, and things I've now forgotten.

This morning, I've got physical therapy and trips to the bank and post office. Beyond that. i have no plans.

I just thought how nice it would be to just give out the awards and go home.....all of that extra stuff was not necessary....or interesting.

And the writing of the intros was so BAD....no real reason to say what was being said....and yes, I could write better material....and I'm from Indiana.

I missed what Ellen said about Liza....taking the dog out.....

DR DAKOTA CELT I do think residuals are paid to a performer's estate.  There is a link on the SAG page called UNCLAIMED RESIDUALS that asks heirs of performers to contact them so they can be paid.

But there is no - as I understand it - money paid on any film work finished before January 1, 1960.  I don't know if that applies to DVD's, but I would assume so.

So, was the pizza guy a real pizza guy or an actor...or both?

Here's what the TODAY SHOW reported:

Midway through the show, a pizza deliveryman walked out on stage and presented DeGeneres with boxes of pizza from Big Mama & Papa’s Pizzeria, a small chain in the Los Angeles area that’s a favorite of DeGeneres’ talk show. He was no actor, but a real employee of the restaurant. The shop is known for its Giant Sicilian, which is cut into 200 square slices and serves 50-70 people, although the pizzas delivered onstage were of normal size.

TOD:

Did not watch telecast, but I recorded it on DVR.

I watched "Matlock" re-runs.

During commercial breaks, I switched over to see what was happening.  I saw Steven Price win his scoring award and I saw Cate Blanchett win Best Actress.  After the final "Matlock" episode, I switched back and saw Will Smith announce the nominees and winner for Best Picture.  During one of my switch-iovers, I did see Idina Menzel singing the "Frozen" song, but I did not linger.

Will scan through and watch some of things folks have considered "highlights"...or, rather "hi-lites"...of last night's show.

I was shocked at John Travolta mispronouncing Idina's name. It was like a totally different name.

I think that my favorite dress was probably Cate Blanchett's gown. I also really liked Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence...

I just remembered that there was much ado about the 5 or 6 student film winners during the pre-Oscars show, and how they were "Oscar Heroes" or some such.  Instead of the randomly put together clip-jobs that were shown during the telecast and that purportedly illustrated the so-called theme of "Heroes", why didn't the dunces that were steering that Titanic of a telecast show those student films?  I bet I can answer my own question.  Those short films were probably much better than any of the tripe that was served to us, trying to convince us it was caviar.  By the way, perhaps next time instead of inviting vapid and talentless singers to "perform" (or maybe lip-sync if more appropriate), why not just play the clip of the song from the movie?  It certainly couldn't be any worse.

I had a feeling that some people were left out.  My hackles were raised during the introduction to the "In Memoriam" segment as the wording alluded to, almost in a lawyerly way, that while not everyone would be included, we miss them all anyway and besides "they" all know who "they" are.  It was shameless last year when Jack Klugman was left out.

The thing I liked about the Oscars: that they didn't cut people off in mid-speech. It always feels disrespectful to me when they do that. Sure a few people went on a little longer than necessary, but hey...how often do you win one of those things. So they run over a bit, big deal.

I also liked that finally I could read the "In Memoriam" names, as opposed to years where it was all about how they could move the camera around or do fancy effects. It's not about that!

And I LOVED how they acknowledged Sarah Jones. I thought it was the correct decision not to include her in the full-screen list, but to have her name appear at the end was very classy on their part. I also liked that they cut the audience mikes so it didn't turn into a popularity contest, as it often does.

I also was glad to see so many people, including the Gravity crew, wearing ribbons of support for Sarah.

I thought overall the show was pretty lame. I liked Ellen's irreverence in the beginning but by the time of the pizza it really got old. I didn't get the whole "heroes" thing or why the WoO was featured so prominently. Pink's performance was cringe-worthy. The song from "Her"...wow, how did that even get nominated?

I miss Billy Crystal and the opens he used to do. Also Neil Patrick Harris. I like Ellen but either would be preferable to me as hosts, as would Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert.

Ansara I understand as I don't think he was in any films, not that I am against including him.  Supposedly that don't include tv "only" actors.  Of course if they stuck to that rule Michael Jackson would not have been included the year he died.

I've felt this quite strongly over the last two or three years, but never more than throughout last night's show.  These people don't know how to execute basic things well, and how to recognize or honor REAL STARS.  And never mind that I don't have the slightest frickin' idea who half the people are, both the nominees and the presenters.  It's a bizzaro world.

Ansara I understand as I don't think he was in any films, not that I am against including him.  Supposedly that don't include tv "only" actors.  Of course if they stuck to that rule Michael Jackson would not have been included the year he died.

I am shocked, shocked!  You are forgetting "Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy"!

I didn't watch the Oscars last night.  However, I did catch most of the opening monologue.  I was quite amused by John Travolta's mistake, no matter who's fault it was.  I'm not a fan of said actress.

Larry Hagman had a career (mostly TV, some small movie roles) very comparable to Michael Ansara's, and I am almost dead certain (sorry, couldn't avoid that pun) that he was included in last year's obituary segment.  Most viewers may not know Michael Ansara by name, but to anyone who is a Trekker, he will always be Kang the Klingon.

The main problem with the show last night was that the producers and possibly the director (maybe even the network?) failed to put on a show.  If they aren't interested in entertaining the viewer at home, then just go back to making the Academy Awards a members-only banquet and tell us the results the next day.

I'm reading a list of actors snubbed in the "In Memoriam" segment and am shocked Joan Fonatine was left out.  Is this true?  I'm also wondering why they included tv & commercial actors in the snubbed list.  The first name mentioned is Cory Monteith-was he even in a movie?

Joan Fontaine was there.

Michael Ansara and Jonathan Winters were not.

Michael Jackson was in "The Wiz," and had songs on movie soundtracks.

True.  They should stick to their own rules or include more people.  I don't know why they can't allot more time for this segment that is appreciated far more than most of the jokes and skits.

Craig, the son who lives near you, used to take our Echo to Dairy Queen with him and they would each get their own cone.  I asked him which dog she was like and he said Daisy.  Echo was such a good girl.  Echo was a very small Bernese Mountain Dog.

Arthur Rankin, Jr. of Rankin-Bass fame, was also a snubbee.  "Mad Monster Party" was a theatrical release.  I used to own a copy of the Percepto Records CD of the original soundtrack (which unfortunately was stolen from my collection).  The soundtrack is a lot of fun.  Ethel Ennis sings the title song as if it were a James Bond movie.  Phyllis Diller even sings (?).

I wonder how much the guy took home in tips.

I hope he at least got the hatfull of money Ellen collected!

He delivered 20 pizzas, but I"m sure he made some money.  They also said on tv tonight that they have been SWAMPED with business

A wonderfully wonderful Kritzerland show this evening. I had way too much fun, and our cast was simply sublime - Josh Grisetti, Jean Louisa Kelly, Ashley Fox Linton, Jenna Lea Rosen, Sami Staitman and our guest star Terri White. The latter tore the roof off the joint, but everyone was just stellar as was our musical director, Richard Berent. I even brought co-producer Adyran Russ onstage for the sing-a-long at the end. Completely sold out and so many fun people in attendance, including Barry Pearl, Michael Kerker, Les Traub, Sarah Louise Lazarus and Michael Lavine, the beautiful Shannon Warne, Tom Hatten and his ever lovin' Pete Menefee, adorable Hadley Belle Miller, and so many others.

Another dinner party a success!  Beef Short ribs in the slow cooker, roasted root vegetables (potato, white sweet potato, parsnips, and carrots) and gilled asparagus. Not to mention the secret Mattei dessert!

I opened a bottle of red wine.  No one wanted any, yet, it's almost gone.  That must have been my doing. Oy and vey

Tonight the Fed had beef stroganoff on the menu - it didn't look very good and seeing it is finally going to get me off my butt cheeks and have a little dinner partay so I can make it.
