TMZ is on the story DR GINNY....so we will know if he got the money.  My guess is that Ellen will invite him on her show and hand over the cash....plus other prizes.

I just read through what I'd missed of last night's posts -- pages 13 through 40, and 42 through 47 -- and it was most entertaining.

A great evening.  Let's see if we can top it tonight!    :D

So, was the pizza guy a real pizza guy or an actor...or both?

Here's what the TODAY SHOW reported:

Midway through the show, a pizza deliveryman walked out on stage and presented DeGeneres with boxes of pizza from Big Mama & Papa’s Pizzeria, a small chain in the Los Angeles area that’s a favorite of DeGeneres’ talk show. He was no actor, but a real employee of the restaurant. The shop is known for its Giant Sicilian, which is cut into 200 square slices and serves 50-70 people, although the pizzas delivered onstage were of normal size.

I haven't gotten that far in my viewing and now I won't need to wonder about it.

I actually thought Bette singing AFTER the presentation was a great improvement.  Last year or the year before....someone sang during and the camera kept on her and we missed some of the people on the screen....it was very awkward.

We have our new Daisy Mae - the very talented Maddy Claire Parks - she's done one of our Kritzerland shows, and starred in Oklahoma at Musical Theater West, and she's Betty Garrett's granddaughter, so comes from very good stock.  Beautiful legit voice and beautiful inside and out.  Very happy to have her.

Wow, I love Betty Garrett!  I first knew of her as Irene Lorenzo on "All in the Family" and from there discovered all of her other work.  She had an impressive career and had lots and lots of talent.  That sure is good stock!  Kudos and vibes to you Bruce and to Maddy for great success in Lil Abner.

I too was surprised that it didn't close with Peter O'Toole, or Shirley or Joan, but alas this Oscars broadcast didn't even have the decency to fully acknowledge and appreciate Liza and the importance of having her there to pay tribute to her mother and the iconic WoO.  I am of a mind that the producers chose to ignore the old Hollywood.

TOD:

Did not watch telecast, but I recorded it on DVR.

I watched "Matlock" re-runs.

During commercial breaks, I switched over to see what was happening.  I saw Steven Price win his scoring award and I saw Cate Blanchett win Best Actress.  After the final "Matlock" episode, I switched back and saw Will Smith announce the nominees and winner for Best Picture.  During one of my switch-iovers, I did see Idina Menzel singing the "Frozen" song, but I did not linger.

Will scan through and watch some of things folks have considered "highlights"...or, rather "hi-lites"...of last night's show.

My father passed last night. The family was with him when he took his final breath. There is a lot to do during the next few days.

My condolences to you and your family, Mike. :(

Talk about a lost opportunity...a duet with Liza AND Lorna singing "Over the Rainbow" would've been fantastic!

I really liked Ellen's pizza gag and the celebrity tweet.

I was shocked at John Travolta mispronouncing Idina's name. It was like a totally different name.

I think that my favorite dress was probably Cate Blanchett's gown. I also really liked Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence...

I just remembered that there was much ado about the 5 or 6 student film winners during the pre-Oscars show, and how they were "Oscar Heroes" or some such.  Instead of the randomly put together clip-jobs that were shown during the telecast and that purportedly illustrated the so-called theme of "Heroes", why didn't the dunces that were steering that Titanic of a telecast show those student films?  I bet I can answer my own question.  Those short films were probably much better than any of the tripe that was served to us, trying to convince us it was caviar.  By the way, perhaps next time instead of inviting vapid and talentless singers to "perform" (or maybe lip-sync if more appropriate), why not just play the clip of the song from the movie?  It certainly couldn't be any worse.

I had a feeling that some people were left out.  My hackles were raised during the introduction to the "In Memoriam" segment as the wording alluded to, almost in a lawyerly way, that while not everyone would be included, we miss them all anyway and besides "they" all know who "they" are.  It was shameless last year when Jack Klugman was left out.
