I've asked the question but haven't had an answer - I thought you were reading the actual book?

Sometimes I fear retirement will never present itself.
DR JRand - nice cast picture! Scott and Craig look a lot alike.
VIBES and XYLOPHONES for all things KRITZERLAND.
Just off the phone with Richard Sherman. We've been getting such wonderful response to our little song that we're thinking about going into the studio to record it - he on piano, Guy Haines singing. Sandy is recording it, too, this summer, but we thought it would be fun to have us doing it, too - just plain and simple.
And then dear reader Ron Pulliam had written and suggested we do sheet music and I loved that idea, so that's in the works - we can sell it at Kritzerland, our shows, and other online places - we could even have a special version signed by Richard and I. What do you think?
Anybody have the recordings yet of "Bridges of Madison County" and "Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder"? Thoughts?
DR ChasSmith - try the "preview" option. And a tastefully inserted space, here and there.

Good Morning All:
So sorry to hear about your friend, John G.
I will say a prayer for him.
My friend that I used to work with also passed away.
Good morning, all.
Love that phrase "gaping maw," George. Use it occasionally myself. And strapping on the feedbag. ::)
On the plus side:
Someone on our events committee hatched an idea that we should have a Pizza for Lunch day as a fund raiser. One slice of pizza is $3. One slice of pizza with salad and a soda is $7. A whole 12-slice pizza is $30.
On the negative side:
They are buying the pizzas from CostCo where the 12-slice pizza costs $9.99. They are anticipating HUGE profits, from what I gather.
On the "me" side: I ain't buyin' into it!

Apparently the Kindle version won't be up for another two to four weeks, so just read the real book - more fun that way anyway.

The latter I have listened to bits of on Spotify and enjoyed it. It reminds me of Drood for some reason.

I think that's a fantastic, idea, bk. I hope the logistics can be worked out, and that he'd find it fulfilling.

He really wants to do it - and it should be relatively easy - he'd have his own log-in information to that one specific page - from there all he has to do is click edit, enter his review, click publish and it's done. The unknown that would probably have to be set up is an archive of past reviews - so I have a call in about that. If we decide to do it it will probably happen next week.

Good idea. I do preview posts if they get long or elaborate, but haven't thought of doing so when jotting off a note.

You can also click the "Attachments and other options" link when previewing and check the "Don't use smileys" option. Of course then, no emoticons will show, but then there's the tastefully inserted space option. :)
Now here's a fairly trivial matter (in relation to life, the universe, and everything) that maybe somebody knows the answer to:
On this board, old-fashioned punctuation emoticons are converted and displayed as actual smileys. And that's fine. Where it turns weird is when you deliberately type some punctuation that you mean to be seen as just that, and it converts it into a wholly unexpected graphic.
For instance, I just sent someone a private message (oh yes, a very private message indeed) in which I ended a question with four question marks. The software converted that to one single question mark running right up against a "huh" face, changing the tone and making it look like I'm an idiot at a keyboard. Well, actually, I probably am an idiot at a keyboard. But I digress...
I can't find a way to tell it not to do that. Anyone know?
I won't be eating, however.

Rob Stevens will definitely be joining the haineshisway.com family as the site's theatre reviewer
we'll all spread the word all over the place
Rob Stevens will definitely be joining the haineshisway.com family as the site's theatre reviewer, where he is free to call it as he sees it, even if he's reviewing something I'm involved in. I think this will be a lot of fun. When he debuts, we'll all spread the word all over the place.

I'm actually quoting BK. He uses it a lot. ;)

Piehole is another cherce one.
Thanks, George. I listened to those songs from Bridges. Really do enjoy them for their passion. Still not sold on Kelli O'Hara. She sounds a little too mannered, as if she's spending too much time on the accent.
And every time I hear "Francesca," I have to think of the parody, "Ditches of Madison County" with its porcine heroine, Pancetta Jackson.
Please keep vibes and xylophones coming - they really help.

Back from a very good and fun lunch. Had the short stack (two pancakes) - great, and tried the mac-and-cheese, which was really good.
So, here's the next question open for discussion: From the early 1970s, we had a critic in LA named Rob Stevens. Really nice guy, and always very good to me. In the 80s, he began doing the Robby Awards, which were always great fun - it was a little yearly event, with performances and awards, and it's where I discovered Michelle Nicastro. Robby got burned out on all of it and moved to San Diego a decade ago. Recently he moved back to LA and he's been reviewing for some tiny site called Stage Happenings - he reviewed the March Kritzerland show and has a rave for last Sunday's show that frustratingly hasn't been posted yet. That's a recurring problem at these "review" sites - they're not run professionally.
So, here's my idea: We bring Robby and his reviews and maybe even resurrect the Robby Awards, right here to haineshisway.com - under the "Now Playing" section we already have built. He would review shows - and wouldn't be like 90% of the other LA reviewers in that he would not automatically give raves - he would review fairly to his taste. He's already on a bunch of press lists and I'm sure we can get him on all the others. Like Donald's radio show, this would be his own corner of the site and given how much traffic we get here, which is HUGE compared to any of the home grown tiny theatre sites, which mostly were started by actors so free tickets could be had, he'd actually have a built-in audience.
What do you think?
