Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of An Evening With Richard M. Sherman, and now it is time for you to post until the evening cows come home.

BK, about the group of 30 who didn't show up...did they buy their tickets, or did they just make reservations to be there?  Because if they hadn't paid for their tickets, I would think that you need (or the venue needs) a policy that if people don't show up within 15 minutes of the performance, their reservations will be released and sold to others.  You shouldn't have to lose out on those ticket sales just because people either flake out or can't get there in time.

Just a thought.

What we really need around here is an underpants chandelier.

Yeah, that's the ticket!      :)

Thanks to MR BK for the G/D vibes....we open on Thursday, so it's always nice to have a good rehearsal!

Of course five people were gone to graduation ceremonies.....so it was a bit ragged....and I'm not too happy with the lighting, but it is okay.

IF you spent $18,000 on lighting instruments....called intelligent lights that can spin and have built in colors and all kinds of fancy capabilities, where would you put them?

Well......our technical director put ONE on the FRONT of the stage and THREE on the back of the stage....so mostly what they do is shine into the eyes of the audience....no one can convince him otherwise.

I almost made it through the show without car trouble.....BUT last night the PT Cruiser overheated....so it is in the shop....and of course today is a work day....oh well....and tomorrow is the Season Open House....

So who knows what will happen?  I do....but I ain't saying.

Good morning, all...

...following the CRAZIEST DAMN DREAM (which consisted of three or four main "scenes") I've come up with yet.  When I woke up this morning I just laid there attempting to remember everything and put it all together -- but while that was happening, I suspect that I slipped into another light sleep and ended up embellishing or manufacturing even more.  Incredible stuff.  It's too bad I haven't the energy or the the time it would take to try putting it down for everyone's reading pleasure.

Coffee!

This afternoon my niece will swim in the finals in backstroke, front crawl and probably relay (the coach is only telling them today). She finished 2nd in both in the semi-finals. Two weeks ago I was hoping she could win at least one event (she has never come in first in any races at this level).  But now after her chickenpox I am just really hoping that she will have enough energy to be as competitive as she usually is. She seems to be getting her energy back everyday. But it is just impossible to know if she is 100%. It takes a lot of energy to go all out.  Fingers crossed.

The good news is that the meet is at her pool (which is only 10 minutes away).  Although they are not racing in the same pool they practice in.

Has anyone heard of this bookstore in Harrisburg, PA, or even been there?  I keep picking up their brochure (which is impressive, with pictures I'm not seeing on the web site) whenever I'm on the road, and I was half thinking of stopping in there tomorrow to check it out since this is a fairly leisurely car trip in which I could afford some extra time.  On the other hand, I might just drive over another day to give myself a proper amount of time to browse, eat, etc.  But we'll see.

Well, I thought it was going to happen last week, but I'm happy it didn't. I did not relish coming home from a long rehearsal and having to sweep up the dust and then mop the place. I saw the super yesterday, and I asked about it. I think it will happen on Monday or Tuesday.  I want to get all the bathroom things back on shelves and racks. Then I can prepare my studio for the summer and the A/C.

I do think it's ridiculous for this mess to drag on for three months.

Back from a jog.  One thing I'm putting out in the ether - Richard and I are willing to take last night's evening on the road - they'd have to pay for he and his wife to get there and for me, but I don't think we'd need much beyond a hotel - in other words, no fee, as long as the venue is good and we can fill the house.

Last night's event was free - that's what was galling - thirty people could have seen it and yet didn't thanks to the no-shows who didn't cancel.

Then I definitely think that you should have a policy that reservations will be held until 15 or maybe 10 minutes before a program starts.  There are a couple of theater groups that pre-sell their pay-what-you-can nights, but it's their policy that if ticket holders don't get there within the required time frame, the theater groups reserve the right to resell the seats.

She finished in 1st place in the 50 free. It is her first 1st place of the season. They even announced her name over the loud speaker. It was thrilling.

She finished in 2nd place in the 50 back. She finished at the same time as her teammate (well 50.28 to 50.44).

Then some of us went to Casa Vega, where I was a VERY good boy - no chips, one cheese enchilada, one beef taco, no beans, a little rice and no sides of guacamole and sour cream.  So, I guess I have just enough calories left to eat this here chocolate peanut butter thing.  Yes, I went to K's Donuts and got a dozen for rehearsal, including the four remaining chocolate peanut butter things.  But there are still about seven things left so I put them in the fridge and will bring them to The Federal tomorrow.

I agree. I also don't feel that you should have to do ANY of the clean-up. The problem was not of your making and the building management should take care of it. But who am I?

Vibes it goes smoothly and is soon history.

I have been busy with car shopping and my numerous medical appointments. I do believe that shopping for a new car could cause someone to need numerous medical appointments.

Send congrats from us, Jennifer!

Thanks.
It was so exciting. My sister and I both got teary eyed.  Front crawl is the most competitive race (more people are good at it).  She had been sick so we had no idea if she would have all of her energy.  It was a close race between her and the girl who beat her in the semi finals. But then they flashed her name on the board with a #1. And you could see her see it. And she got a huge smile on her face.  So exciting for her first win.

After saying, "Tomorrow I'll go to such-and-such [dealer] to see an XYZ," THREE times earlier in the week and then deciding against it, I finally visited a dealer yesterday. I've done all I can online, knowing that once I set foot in a car showroom there will be a certain amount of pressure to buy something. Now. So I had narrowed things down to a couple makes and models. Checkbook in hand, I was prepared to make a purchase yesterday. But I was told that the car that I'd come to purchase had just been sold. Although that's quite possible--nice car and really good price--I notice that it's still on the dealer's website. Hum...

I was, of course, directed to another car, one actually on the lot, a beautiful used BMW. Also a very good price. I test-drove it. Gorgeous car, but not what I'm looking for. The apartment building where I live has off-street parking--very needed--but it is very tight. We've all scratched our cars--or worse--due to the tight quarters. I was hoping my old car would last until I have a better parking situation. The BMW is slightly larger than my old Volvo. I need smaller, not larger. No BMW.

So I am again looking. I loathe the local Volvo dealer, but I do like Volvos. I hope I find a car I like, because it's tempting to just buy SOMETHING and be done with it.

Jeanne, is it possible that if the dealer sees you must have that particular car, it will magically be available to you?

I tried something along those lines. Since most people finance their auto purchases and one must pass a credit check, I thought I might be second in line. But I was told that the buyer passed. If I was buying a new car I think the dealer could probably find an equivalent car. But I'm buying used and that introduces soooo many variables! What I'm learning is what a big business used cars are. I could sell my old Volvo several times over.

I don't doubt that there's some bait-and-switch going on. I don't know if that's what happened yesterday or not. But my Volvo ran much better after I test-drove another car!

The length of time this is taking is really taking a toll on my brother and sister in law.   They did go home tonight and hopefully will try to sleep in the bed instead of just falling asleep in their recliners as they have done when they could get a little time to rest.   They have a really fantastic set up for the families of those in hospice at the hospital there, but it's just very hard.

I was really out of it all week.  I did a lot of yard work and it has been very hot and humid.  I also trimmed my huge pine tree so I can now walk under it.  It really needed a better air flow.  Anyway, I think I may be allergic to it.  I woke up the next morning all swelled up.  I took some allergy meds and that took care of it.  I've stayed in the house most of the time since then

Good thinking, Laura! I'm not a member, but could easily become one. In fact, I was considering it because I need a pair of prescription sunglasses and their price is much, much cheaper than what I'd normally pay.

I'm pleased to see that Costco's program isn't just for new cars. I may give it a try. I do need to test-drive a couple models first. Buying the Volvo was so easy! Not this time.

DR Jennifer, I hope your niece feels good she did her best, whatever happens.

She finished in 1st place in the 50 free. It is her first 1st place of the season. They even announced her name over the loud speaker. It was thrilling.

She finished in 2nd place in the 50 back. She finished at the same time as her teammate (well 50.28 to 50.44).

Congrats to your niece, Jennifer!

And now, I must take the day.  I have to shower, get dressed, get gas for my car, get food for my tummy and sunscreen for my skin...not necessarily in that order.  The wedding that I'm going to is an outdoor wedding, and even though it doesn't start until 5:30, it's already a very sunny day.  The weather report says "partly cloudy," but there can still be a lot of sun shining through.

Have a good day, all!

I am now home from the wedding and a lovely wedding it was.  I did not get a sunburn, nor do I think I even got a little tanned, so the newly bought sunscreen was a success.  The view over the water was spectacular, the bride was beautiful and the groom was gorgeous. ;)

There was some pretty good food and wonderful cake and a lot different kinds of candy that everyone could take in little bags.  It'll last me for several days.

A good time was had by all.  Christy, the bride, told me that her ring was his great-grandmother's and is 110 years old!  It was beautiful, and she's got a great story to go with it.

The only problem was that I got lost on my way home.  I guess I turned left when either I shouldn't have, or I should've turned right.  But after probably 10 minutes or so, things weren't looking familiar.  I kept going and eventually realized that the water was on my left, which meant that I was going north, but I need to go south!

DR elmore3003 - have you had any further information about the timing of your bathroom ceiling repair?

Well, I thought it was going to happen last week, but I'm happy it didn't. I did not relish coming home from a long rehearsal and having to sweep up the dust and then mop the place. I saw the super yesterday, and I asked about it. I think it will happen on Monday or Tuesday.  I want to get all the bathroom things back on shelves and racks. Then I can prepare my studio for the summer and the A/C.

I do think it's ridiculous for this mess to drag on for three months.

I agree. I also don't feel that you should have to do ANY of the clean-up. The problem was not of your making and the building management should take care of it. But who am I?

Vibes it goes smoothly and is soon history.

I feel the same way.

I had no idea where I was going and then I finally saw a sign for Highway 16, which intersects with I-5, but no indication of where I should turn for Highway 16.  I eventually just turned right because I thought that I was still going too far, and a couple of blocks up that road was the Tacoma Musical Playhouse.  I've been there!  I sort of knew where I was!

I have been busy with car shopping and my numerous medical appointments. I do believe that shopping for a new car could cause someone to need numerous medical appointments.

So true, IMHO.

I kept going and in just a few minutes did get to Highway 16.  I got on and realize that I was going the wrong way AGAIN!  I was heading towards Bremerton and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.  Just as I realized this, there was a sign that said "No Toll This Direction."  I don't care...I don't want to pay a toll just to get back.  Fortunately, there was an exit just before the bridge and I was able to cross over Highway 16, go back the other direction and get to I-5, and then home.

Whew!  It was a fun day and even getting lost wasn't a problem.  I knew that I would eventually find my way back. :D

Had a really fun stumble-through - only a couple of tiny lyric flubs, otherwise just about perfect and less notes than I've ever given.

That's great!

Are you a member of Costco? They have a car buying service. The car will have the best price through Costco -- no haggling.

That's how I got my car.  Highly recommended.

Paul had an opening for his mural on Wednesday night. I'm so proud of him.  It's an amazing mural.

Here's a link to the story from the paper today  http://siouxcityjournal.com/news/local/state-and-regional/sioux-city-business-now-has-view-of-landscape/article_69e0865a-2c98-57ca-9454-e8d17d9a5e45.html (http://siouxcityjournal.com/news/local/state-and-regional/sioux-city-business-now-has-view-of-landscape/article_69e0865a-2c98-57ca-9454-e8d17d9a5e45.html)

I'm now watching Aziz Ansari's comedy special from 2012 on Comedy Central (it was rebroadcast early this morning).  He's really funny and they aren't editing the "language"...nothing is bleeped out.
